Paper Pumpkin Dec ’19 Something for Everything – Alternate Ideas

I rushed right into creating with my new December 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit because my mind was racing with alternate project ideas the moment I opened the box AND because I wanted to share with you right away. With my family on vacation for two weeks for the holidays I wanted to be sure to share with you before all of us went on relaxation, sleeping-in-late mode. ?Hahaha!

This month’s kit (titled Something for Everything) included supplies to put together 12 attractive all-occasion cards (4 of 3 designs). And it included the supplies shown below.

The December 2019 Something for Everything Paper Pumpkin Kit. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I like to think outside the box…see what else I can come up with, and create alternate cards, scrapbook pages and more. So I added the extra supplies in the product list at the bottom of this post to the above kit contents and created my alternate projects that I’m sharing with you today:

  • Three K-Cup holders
  • A simple congratulations card
  • A flower pot card
  • A pyramid/teepee card
  • And a 12×12 scrapbook page

Watch my video first to get to get measurements, directions, and tips (you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog). Scroll down to see close-up photos, access the links that I mentioned in my video, and see a list of extra supplies (linked to my online store) that I used to make my creations. Then be sure to visit my blog again soon, because I have many more alternate projects that I’ll be sharing in early January. ?

Here are the cards the kit instructs how to make.

Lucky Stars Holiday Box

If you are celebrating upcoming holidays, you may be in the midst of wrapping gifts. And sometimes it’s nice to fashion a very special gift box and tag for that certain someone. Though I’m sharing this creative idea around Christmas time, this box & tag combo would be great for Valentine’s Day or just to give to that special person at any time to let them know how grateful you are for them.

I shared this lucky stars gift box and tag at Christmas, but it would be appropriate for Valentine’s Day or just to give to that special person at any time to let them know how grateful you are for them. And they really can be used all year long. Check out all the other products that are on the Carry Over and Closeout Lists by clicking here and scrolling down.

Wrapped in Plaid Shirt Card

This past Wednesday during my Online Paper Crafting Class on Facebook, I shared how to make a card that folds into a short-sleeved shirt. This fold has been around for years. But the Wrapped in Plaid Designer Paper brought it back to mind for me. I paired this paper and this fold with the stamp set called A Good Man and created this card for one of the make-n-take projects I did with my demonstrator team three weeks ago.

I uploaded the recorded version of my Facebook Live video to my YouTube channel (since I know not everyone is ON Facebook). And then I was able to share it here in my blog post. Be sure to watch the video (you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog), scroll through the close-up photos, check out the products list below the photos, and then let me know if you have any questions.

I hope you enjoyed what I shared in this video. Below are measurements, close-up photos, and a product list for these cards.

Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Measurements…

  • Copy Paper
    • 8-1/2” x 11” scored parallel to the short side 1” from one end and 4-1/2” from the other, then scored parallel to the long side at 2-1/8” from each end (watch the video for further folds)
  • Wrapped in Plaid Designer Paper
    • 4-1/4” by 4-1/2”
    • 2-1/8” x 1-3/4” (two pieces) and then cut each of these diagonally (watch the video for further cuts and folds)
  • Whisper White Cardstock
    • 4-3/8” x 4”
  • Shaded Spruce (or Cherry Cobbler) Cardstock
    • Scrap for stamping and punching sentiment

Birthday MVP Card

I’ve been enjoying my own personal retreat this week catching up on some scrapbooking. I’ll be missing out on the retreat I usually go on in January since I’ll be going to Disney World as a chaperone on my son, Nick’s Jazz Band Field Trip. Bummer right? hahaha… I’m not sad, but I couldn’t do both. So I’m set up in my craft room with photos all around me trying to get caught up a bit more on my boys albums. I really COULD use a whole month’s retreat, but I think that’s pretty common with us scrapbookers – we never feel caught up.

I bought the For the Win Stamp Set when the 2019-20 Annual Catalog first debuted because Nick loves to play sports. I thought it would be a great stamp set to scrapbook with. So far I’ve used it to make a few team birthday cards, though. I love that the new Come to Gather Designer Paper in the 2019 Holiday Catalog includes a couple sheets that look like lined notebook paper. So I brought the stamp set and this paper together and created this fun card.

I brought the For the Win stamp set and the Come to Gather designer paper together and created this fun birthday card. Click here for directions, measurements, tips, and a list of products I used linked to my online store. Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

  • Basic Black Cardstock
    • 4-1/8” x 5-3/8”

  • Whisper White Cardstock
    • Scrap for stamping and punching baseball
    • Scrap for stamping and punching soccer ball
    • 2-1/8″ x 3-7/8″

  • Come to Gather Designer Paper (lined notebook pattern)
    • 3-1/2” x 3-1/4”
    • 1-1/2″ x 5-3/8″

Directions…

  • Stamp and punch the balls: basketball in Cajun Craze ink on Pumpkin Pie Cardstock scrap, baseball in Real Red ink on Whisper White Cardstock scrap, and soccer ball in Jet Black ink on Whisper White Cardstock scrap.
  • Position 3-1/2” x 3-1/4” tipped a bit on the left lower section of the wood grain Come to Gather designer paper. Adhere soccer ball as shown below so it’s under the black a bit. Then adhere the black.

  • Trim the excess Basic Black cardstock extending beyond the wood grain paper.
  • Position the 3-1/2” x 3-1/4” lined notebook Come to Gather designer paper on the black. Stamp the “Birthday MVP” image. Then adhere the designer paper on the black so just 1/16″ of black is showing on the top and right side.
  • Color the MVP letters of the sentiment stamp with Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, and Cajun Craze markers (all from the Regals Collection).
  • Then trim up the excess designer paper extending beyond the wood grain paper.

  • Stamp the image of three stars above the Jet Black sentiment. And add a copper Star Designer Element underneath. Attach this to the 2-3/4″ x 4″ Basic Black piece and add to the inside of the card.
  • Trim around the “HOO” and around the “RAY!” on the white scraps. Then add these words to the black sentiment using Dimensionals.

WORLD CARD SENDING WEEK
Did you take part in World Card Making Day this past weekend? My family was out of town for a wedding. But I made several cards last week and prepared a few customer thank you when I got home on Sunday night.
Stampin’ Up! would now like to assign this week (October 7-12) World Card Sending Week. They have sent out a challenge to our demonstrators to send 50,000 cards during this time—that’s about one per demonstrator, but of course our customers’ cards count too! So report back to me (by the end of the week) to let me know how many cards you’ve mailed this week. I’ll keep a tally, and then I’ll report our amount to Stampin’ Up! (Personally I think we can surpass this goal. I’ve send 30 so far!)

Gathered Leaves Corner-Cut Card

About four days ago, I shared one of the two make-n-takes my Stampers With ART group made last week: the coffin box. TOOooo adorable! Right?

Today I’m sharing the second one.

Here is the second make-n-take project that we made during our September 2019 Stampers With ART team gathering online! It’s a corner-cut card made with the Come to Gather Designer Paper, Gather Together Stamp Set, Gathered Leaves Dies, and the Leaf Punch. Click here to get measurements, directions, and a supply list linked to my online store. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I got this corner-cut layout idea from a swap I received on the incentive trip from Ann Clemmer. (I shared it along with my other swaps on July 18th.) I thought it was clever and unique.

Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Measurements…

  • Pretty Peacock Cardstock
    • 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″ and folded in half for the card base
    • Scrap for die-cutting/embossing the leaf (or use what is left over after cutting off the corner of the card base)
  • Gray Granite Cardstock
    • 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Early Espresso Cardstock
    • 2-15/16″ x 2-15/16″
    • Scrap for punching two leaf clusters
  • Champagne Foil
    • Scrap for die-cutting/embossing the leaf
  • Come to Gather Designer Paper (pattern with white pumpkins and gray background)
    • Two pieces that are 1-3/8″ x 1-3/8″
  • Come to Gather Designer Paper (pattern with polka-dots on gray background)
    • Two pieces that are 1-3/8″ x 1-3/8″

Directions…

  • Measure 3″ up the right side and 3″ across the bottom from the lower right corner of the folded card base. Mark those two spots with a pencil. Then cut diagonally to remove the lower right corner of the card front.
  • Stamp the large leaf image on the upper left corner of the Gray Granite Cardstock using Pretty Peacock ink. And attach to the inside of the card.

  • Attach the Early Espresso square to the front of the card with Dimensionals.
  • Stamp the two sentiments with Early Espresso ink on the card front in the upper left and on the Gray Granite layer peeking out on the lower right.
  • Adhere the designer paper pieces to the Early Espresso square (now a diamond).
  • Die-cut and punch the leaves. (The dies also emboss at the same time!) Adhere them to the middle of the diamond using Glue Dots and Dimensionals.

This is what it looks like when I prepare to mail out my Stampers With ART make-n-take materials. My friend (and assistant) Vicki Spicer came over to help me with this process. Yay! Love that gal!

This is a fun one!!! When I saw the banner, I pictured it as a neck tie. And one thing led to another. This is the same technique for making shirt cards (which I just realized I’ve never shared with you… Click here to see my friend Julie’s tutorial). I just applied this technique to the bag.

Directions…

  • Remove the handles and the extra layers of paper inside the bag.

Plus you can see several other alternate project ideas created with this kit in our blog hop: “A Paper Pumpkin Thing”! #onestopbox #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

  • Flatten the bag. Measure one inch down from each of the top two corners and then one inch in. Draw a line on each side to connect these two measurements.

  • Cut along the two lines. Fold the top corners diagonally in and down to connect the points together forming the shirt collar. (Don’t glue down yet.)

  • Make the tie…Mark 3/4″ in from each side at the top of the tie. Mark 3″ down from on each side. Connect the dots as shown. Then cut out the tie.

  • Stamp “enjoy” on the right side of one of the banners. Add this tie clip to the tie using a Glue Dot near the edge of the tie and a Dimensional at the end of the clip. Wrap the rest of the banner to the back and adhere or trim off the excess. Add a sequin if room.
  • Adhere tie to the bag front..

  • After stuffing bag with a gift or goody, glue the four flaps of the collar down with Glue Dots.

MY ONLINE PAPER CRAFTERS CLUB IS LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS

The commitment is to order at least $25 worth of Stampin’ Up! product in each of those 6 months. In one of those months, you would reap the hosting rewards (free merchandise based on the club orders).
