Have you seen the popular split circle technique yet? I’ve been having fun with it and thought I’d share it using the fun glitter paper in this suite. The two cards that I came up with are similar in many ways (the layout, the colors, the fun look with the circles), but one is a pocket card featuring more of the Artistry Blooms products. And the other I made with the goal of sharing a Happy New Year’s card idea with you and uses images from two other sets of dies and another stamp set.
I just showed live on YouTube about four hours ago step-by-step directions for creating these cards. And now I’m sharing that video here in my blog post. Welcome to our monthly “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop! See what I have to share. Then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see additional creative alternate paper crafting project ideas that we each came up with using the contents of the October 2020 Joy To the WorldPaper Pumpkin kit. To follow the hop and see other creative project ideas, simply scroll down and click on the names of other hop participants. (If you are receiving this blog post by email, click HERE to see the hop.)
Here is a photo of the intended projects from this month’s kit: eight full-size cards (four of two kinds measuring 5-7/8 x 4-1/8 or 14.9 cm x 10.47 cm) and coordinating envelopes.
I’ve already shared some other alternate projects using the contents of this kit on October 20th.
Quintuple the kit to make 40 holiday cards
And an adaption of last month’s hand sanitizer holders.
Today I am sharing two cards with you. The first is very easy to recreate and does not require much extra product outside the kit. I only added a circle punch, an X-acto knife and a surface to cut on like a self-healing mat or cardboard.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Directions…
Punch a 2-1/4″ circle in the front layer of the card base.
Tie on some twine. (I wrapped the twine around twice before tying in a bow.)
Adhere one of the die-cut words from the kit.
Use the X-acto knife to cut around the petals on the inside of the center flower from the floral piece in the kit. Do the cutting on a safe surface such as a self-healing mat or cardboard. Notice I didn’t connect my cuts. Then use a bone folder to lift and curl them a bit.
Add the floral piece to the inside of the card so the cut flower is centered in the window of the card.
Stamp the inside sentiment.
The second card is a bit more challenging. But yesterday I shared tips and tricks for making this type of fun fold card during my YouTube Live Online Paper Crafting Class. Click here to see yesterday’s post and video. Or just click here to see the video.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
Early Espresso Cardstock
5-1/2” x 8-1/2” trimmed parallel to the long edge 1” in on each side (starting at 1” and ending at 5-1/4”) and scored parallel to the short side (as shown in the video) at 1”, 2” 4-1/4”, 5-1/4” and 6-3/8”
1” x 3” scored parallel to short side ½” in on each end
1-1/2” x 5” for the bookmark
Card base from the kit (foiled pattern) – see image below for where I made my cuts
3” x 3-1/4”
1-7/8″ x 3-1/2″ for above the “pocket”
Envelope from the kit (printed pattern) – see image below for where I made my cuts
4” x 5-1/4” (cut ¾” in on three sides to form a “C” shape)
1-7/8” x 3-3/4” folded in half for pocket (I cut this from the portion inside the “C” shape)
1-1/4” x 4-3/4” for the bookmark layer
Card base from the kit (white side)
3 x 3-1/4″ for the back side of the card
Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon
7” for the bow
10” for the bookmark
Brass banner from the kit
1″ cut from one end for under the bow
1-7/8″ length for the pocket band
the rest for the bookmark
Tips…
I recommend watching the video I shared yesterday so you can understand how it comes together.
Then cut all the pieces and remember what they are for. (I mention lots of details above in the measurements section.)
Add the stamped sentiment after folding the card into a closed position so it is 1/8″ from the right edge as shown below.

PAPER PUMPKIN PAST KITS AND REFILLS AVAILABLE AGAIN SOON! While constructing the new online store, Stampin’ Up! had to temporarily suspend the offering of Paper Pumpkin past kits and refills. Well…good news! The online store functionality that allows SU to offer these products is working now! Paper Pumpkin Past Kits and Refills are available once again. These products are only available while supplies last and require an active Paper Pumpkin subscription to be allowed to order. SU will continue to release new past kit and refill products each month as inventory and demand allow. If you’re interested in purchasing these products, they’re typically released—if available—on the 4th Monday of each month.

Doesn’t it look like the mosaic technique? But I only did half the work for the background.
Imperial Measurements…
Whisper White Thick Cardstock
5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ and folded in half
3-3/4″ x 5″
1-3/8″ x 3-1/4″
Flowers for Every Season Designer Paper
1 sheet of the pink striped pattern
Metric Measurements…
Whisper White Thick Cardstock
14.8 cm x 21 cm scored at 10.5 cm and folded in half
9.3 cm x 13.6 cm
3.5 cm x 8.5 cm
Flowers for Every Season Designer Paper
1 sheet of the pink striped pattern
Directions…
Cut the designer paper as shown into strips that vary in width at each end.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the strips onto the Whisper White layer as shown so that the wide and narrow ends alternate and the colors don’t line up with the adjacent strips. Trim off the excess. And if necessary trim down the white cardstock layer to keep the ends looking balanced. (I had to trim off a bit on mine and it’s only 4-7/8″ wide.)
Insert the small white into the Jar Punch to get a rounded look on each end. Add the “celebrate” sticker from the Memories & More Card Pack.
Add the pattern paper layer to the front of the card base using Seal. Add the sentiment piece using Dimensionals that are positioned away from the outer corners. Add the white leaves stickers from the Memories & More Card Pack. And then add the gems with Fine Tip Glue.
On the inside of the card glue on a couple leftover strips. Then add the “&” sticker and the word “relax” (cut from one of the cards) from the Memories & More Card Pack.
This is my second card.
Imperial Measurements…
Basic Black Cardstock
4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″ and folded in half

1-3/8″ x 2-3/4″
Flowers for Every Season Designer Paper
1 sheet of the blue floral pattern

Two pieces that are 1″ x 1″
Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack (White)

Metric Measurements…

Whisper White Thick Cardstock
8.7 cm x 13 cm
3.5 cm x 7.5 cm
Flowers for Every Season Designer Paper
1 sheet of the blue floral pattern
Two pieces that are 5.5 cm x 10 cm
Two pieces that are 2 cm x 2 cm
Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack (White)
46 cm
Directions…
Cut the designer paper small squares diagonally to get four triangles. Cut the two other pieces parallel to the long edge to get three pieces of varying width from each. Add the most narrow strips at the top and bottom of the Basic Black card front. Add the medium width strips next. And then add the widest ones.
Wrap and tie ribbon around the center. Trim the ends.
Insert the small white into the Jar Punch to get a rounded look on each end. Add the “Happy” sticker from the Memories & More Card Pack. Add the sentiment piece to the card front using Dimensionals.
Add the gems with Fine Tip Glue.
Adhere the white layer and the designer paper triangles to the inside of the card as shown.
I hope you enjoyed what I created!
