Greek Isles Achievers Blog Hop March 2019: Pop Out Gate-Fold

Greek Isles Achievers Blog Hop! #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Welcome to the March 2019 Greek Isles Achievers Blog Hop! Follow along and check out all the other blogs in the hop (click on the names of other participants in the list below my signature) so you can see some fabulous cards and projects created by other demonstrators who also earned the Stampin’ Up!® Greek Isles incentive trip that will take place this July 2019. (I’m so excited! This is my dream trip come true!!) This month’s hop features 2019 Sale-a-Bration and Occasions Catalog products.

I’ve been playing around with pop out gate-fold cards lately (see what I shared March 8 and February 6). And I came up with one more that I think you’ll enjoy.

Greek Isles Achievers Blog Hop March 2019: Pop Out Gate-Fold Card made with the Piece of Cake stamp set, the Cake Builder punch and the All My Love Designer Paper. The belly band holds it shut. When you take off the band and open it up in the middle, the back panel pops forward to reveal to focal point of the design.

I loved the boldness of the Lovely Lipstick and the Flirty Flamingo colors together in the striped pattern of the All My Love Designer Paper and knew those colors would look yummy together as frosting on a cake. So I paired up the All My Love Designer Paper with images from the Piece of Cake Stamp Set to create this fun wedding (or anniversary) card.

Products I used… See below for a list of products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Measurements…

  • Whisper White Cardstock:
    • 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″ and then at 2-3/4″ from each end
    • Scrap for punching out 2″ Circle piece
    • Scrap for stamping and punching out 1-1/4″ Circle piece
    • Scrap for punching two 3/4″ Circles
  • Flirty Flamingo Cardstock:
    • Scrap for stamping and punching out 2″ Circle piece
    • Scrap for stamping and punching out cake
  • Lovely Lipstick Cardstock:
    • Scrap for punching out Starburst piece
    • Scrap for punching out 1-3/8″ Scallop Circle piece
  • Silver Foil Sheets:
    • Scrap for punching out Starburst piece
    • Scrap for punching out cake plate piece
    • 12″ x 1-1/8″ strip
  • All My Love Designer Paper:
    • Lovely Lipstick stripes on Flirty Flamingo pattern: 1″ x 12″
    • Lovely Lipstick stripes on Flirty Flamingo pattern: Two pieces cut to 2-1/2″ x 4″
    • Tiny pink and white hearts pattern: Two pieces cut to 2-1/2″ x 4″

Directions…

  • After preparing all pieces above (cutting, scoring, stamping, punching, etc.), stamp inside message with Lovely Lipstick ink about 1″ from the top and centered.
  • Adhere 2-1/2″ x 4″ designer paper layers to the outer inside flaps and the front of the card (the opposite side of the outer inside flaps).
  • Fold 3/4″ Whisper White circles in half. Then open up the card.
  • Use Glue Dots and attach half of one 3/4″ Circle to the right side of the middle fold so the score line of the circle is lined up with the score line of the middle of the card. Use Glue Dots and attach half of the other circle to the left side of the middle fold so the score line of the circle is lined up with the score line of the middle of the card. Then attach the Lovely Lipstick Starburst piece to the other halves of those circles using Glue Dots. Make sure it is centered.

  • Attach the designer strip with SNAIL down the middle of the Silver Foil strip.
  • Close the card and wrap the belly band around the card so the ends meet in the front middle. Secure with Glue Dots. Make sure the belly band can slip off and on the card easily but that it’s not too loose.
  • Attach the Silver Foil Starburst piece using Dimensionals over the center of the belly band to hide the connection.
  • Then ddd the Flirty Flamingo 2″ circle, the Lovely Lipstick 1-3/8″ scallop circle, and the 1-1/4″ Whisper White sentiment circle. Embellish with a couple pearls.

I hope to share more ideas in a few days, but TODAY I have a beautiful home décor piece and two fun-fold cards to share.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop – Be Mine Valentine

It's a Paper Pumpkin Thing blog hop… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

#APaperPumpkinThing
Yay! Today is the day where a creative team of us Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators bring to you our special “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop. See what I have to share. Then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see additional creative alternate paper crafting project ideas that we each came up with using the contents of the January 2019 “Be Mine Valentine” Paper Pumpkin kit. To follow the hop and see other creative project ideas, simply scroll down and click on the names of other hop participants.

The January 2019 Be Mine Valentine Paper Pumpkin kit. #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

This kit contained enough supplies (plus extras!) to make 24 of these cute Valentine treat boxes. (Click here to see the January 2019 kit video put out by Stampin’ Up!® where you can view how to put these treat boxes together.) I loved how generous Stampin’ Up! was with the consumables. There were a ton of extras left over to make into cards or other projects. AND this kit coordinates with Stampin’ Up! products from the Animal Expedition Suite. So the options are truly amazing for alternate project ideas.

I shared a few ideas on Tuesday, but today I have another card to share AND a Memories & More photo pocket page layout. I used the Beautifully Detailed Laser-Cut Paper for both of them bringing in more Petal Pink color to go with the enamel heart embellishments in the kit.

Click here to see my cute bunny Memories & More photo pocket page, a sweet card that I’m sending to a few of my personal subscribers, AND several other alternate project ideas created with the January 2019 Be Mine Valentine Paper Pumpkin Kit shared in our blog hop: “A Paper Pumpkin Thing”! #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I thought this bunny page would be perfect for sharing photos of a new baby!

The hearts can be “bullet points” where the baby’s stats or gifts received are listed.

And the baby’s name could be written in the large heart as the title of the page.

But it could also be a fun layout for Easter photos.

If you wish to recreate the page layout with your kit contents, follow the measurements and tips below.

Measurements of extra products:

  • Basic Gray Cardstock (photo mats):
    • Three pieces that are 3″ x 4″
    • Two pieces that are 6″ x 4″
  • Petal Pink Cardstock:
    • 6″ x 4″
  • Whisper White Cardstock:
    • 6″ x 4″
    • Scrap to punch the 1-1/8″ scallop circle bunny tail

Measurements of kit products:

  • Box bases (two):
    • Cut two bunny ears from one base, then cut the remaining piece to 4″ x 3″
    • Cut the other base to 4″ x 4-1/4″

Extra Stampin’ Up! Products I Used:  See below for a full list of extra supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Tips:

  • Trim pieces desired from the laser-cut paper, sponge Multipurpose Glue on the back side, then adhere.
  • Punch the bunny’s head from an extra circle piece in the kit. Assemble bunny before attaching it to the page piece.
  • The bunny tail, the large heart, and the small hearts are all attached with Dimensionals. You may want to write on the large heart before adding the Dimensionals.
  • The laser-cut paper on the piece with the small hearts came from a border section. Cut that section a little longer than 4″ then cut in half down the middle to get the “mirroring” pieces.

The cards I created will be going out in the mail next week to a few of my subscribers. I love how Cherry Cobbler and Petal Pink look together, so the only extra products I used to make these cards are the laser-cut paper, Petal Pink cardstock for the inside layer in the card, Cherry Cobbler cardstock, and Cherry Cobbler ink.

Each card is a little unique because of the variety of pieces I cut from the other sheet (shown in front below) of laser-cut paper.

If you wish to recreate this card with your kit contents, follow the measurements and tips below.

Measurements of extra products:

  • Cherry Cobbler Cardstock:
    • 11″ x 4-1/4″ scored at 5-1/2″ and folded in have for the card base
  • Petal Pink Cardstock:
    • 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ for the inside layer

Extra Stampin’ Up! Products I Used:  See below for a full list of extra supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Tips:

  • Trim pieces desired from the laser-cut paper, sponge Multipurpose Glue on the back side, then adhere tucked under the heart. Don’t adhere heart until laser-cut pieces are added.
  • The sentiment layer, the heart on the inside, and the kangaroo are all attached with Dimensionals.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop – Day by Day

It's a Paper Pumpkin Thing blog hop… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

#APaperPumpkinThing
Yay! Today is the day where a creative team of us Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators bring to you our special “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop. See what I have to share. Then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see additional creative alternate paper crafting project ideas that we each came up with using the contents of the December 2018 “Day by Day” Paper Pumpkin kit. To follow the hop and see other creative project ideas, simply scroll down and click on the names of other hop participants.

The December Kit includes supplies and instructions for putting together an 18-month hanging calendar. Click here or below to see the December 2018 kit video put out by Stampin’ Up! that shares how to make that calendar.

For those of you who got this kit and want to make something a little different, I hope these ideas we all share today will inspire you.

I strayed away from the calendar idea altogether for my clear gift box and coordinating gift card shown below.

Click here to see my clear gift box, my coordinating gift card AND several other alternate project ideas created with the December 2018 Day by Day Paper Pumpkin Kit shared in our blog hop: “A Paper Pumpkin Thing”! #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Measurements of extra products:

  • Pool Party Cardstock:
    • 4-1/2″ x 3″ scored at 2-1/4″ and folded in half for the card base

Measurements of kit products:

  • Pool Party Ribbon:
    • 24″
  • One of the gray calendar pieces (I used March 2020):
    • Cut into two pieces that are 2″ x 2-3/4″

Products I Used from the Kit: the cover of the calendar box, the ribbon, the stamps, the Pool Party ink and the March 2020 calendar piece
Extra Stampin’ Up! Products I Used:  See below for a full list of extra supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Directions:

  • Position a ruler along the long edge of the clear box cover so that the length of that side fits evenly between the 0 and the 6-inch mark. Then cut at the 2-1/2″ and the 3-1/2″ points. Do the same on the other side.

  • Cut straight up at those measurements on each side until you reach the creases.
  • Lay it down on a Stampin’ Pierce Mat, open up these newly cut “tabs” in the sides, insert your ruler to use as a straight edge, and use the stylus end of the Take Your Pick tool to make score lines connecting the tab cuts.

  • Fold the clear box cover along the score lines to make them sharper/more crisp.

  • Add candy or some other gift. (I added 16 Dove Promises Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt candies because they fit perfectly and the color coordinated with the ribbon in the kit.)
  • Then tie the box shut with the Pool Party ribbon.
  • For the gift card, cut 2″ off the top of the March 2020 calendar piece. Then cut off the ends of this so that the holes get removed. This will leave you with a 2″ x 2-3/4″ piece. Add this to the front of the card using SNAIL.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink. Then stamp the sparkle/dot image in Pool Party ink.
  • Flip the remaining part of the calendar piece over and cut another 2″ x 2-3/4″ piece from the all-white side to add to the inside of the card using SNAIL adhesive.

  • Add rhinestones in the centers of the “sparkle” images on the front of the card.
  • Write a message on the inside, slip the card under the bow, and gift to someone special.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop – Friends of a Feather

It's a Paper Pumpkin Thing blog hop… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

#APaperPumpkinThing
Yay! Today is the day where a creative team of us Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators bring to you our special “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop. See what I have to share, then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see additional creative alternate paper crafting project ideas that we each came up with using the contents of the October 2018 “Friends of a Feather” Paper Pumpkin kit. To follow the hop, simply scroll down and click on the names of other participants in the hop to see the other creative projects.

The October 2018 Paper Pumpkin Kit: Friends of a Feather! …#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I loved the cards that Stampin’ Up! designed for this kit – 8 cards, 4 of each of these 2 designs! The card elements (die-cut feathers and leaves, sequins, metallic twine and ribbon, beautiful papers and sentiments in the stamp set) are beautiful. Click here to see the October 2018 kit video put out by Stampin’ Up! where you can view how to make these cards as intended.

But for those of you who got this kit and want to change things up a bit, I have a couple ideas to share today. This first one is not too far from the original look in the cards, but it’s a journal cover instead of a card. I like to keep a list of those I know dealing with pain,  illness or loss in a notebook called a prayer journal. My other notebook was old, and the piling post it notes weren’t working anymore… I needed a new journal. I can open it up and read it to remind me who I can send my well wishes to.

Click here to see my Monster Gift Pocket, my prayer journal AND several other alternate project ideas created with the October 2018 Friends of a Feather Paper Pumpkin Kit shared in our blog hop: “A Paper Pumpkin Thing”!…#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

If you wish to recreate this journal with your kit contents, follow the measurements and directions below.

Measurements of extra products:

Measurements of kit products:

  • Metallic Chevron Ribbon:
    • 11″
    • 4-1/2″
  • Metallic Twine:
    • 14″

Extra Stampin’ Up! Products I Used:  See below for a full list of extra supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Directions:

  • Sponge the edges of theCrumb Cake cardstock with Crumb Cake ink.
  • Tie the 4-1/2″ ribbon around the 11″ ribbon towards the top.
  • Tie on the twine.
  • Then tape the 11″ ribbon close to the left edge of the Crumb Cake cardstock being sure to wrap and tape the ends to the backside.
  • Put plenty of Tear & Tape adhesive along the backside (especially along the edges) of the Crumb Cake cardstock, then attach to the front cover of the composition book.
  • Trim up the corners and any cardstock extending beyond. Then sponge the edges a bit more to ensure that the areas that were trimmed will blend in and look uniform with the other edges.
  • Squeeze some Tombow Liquid Glue onto the corner of the Silicone Pad. Collect some of the glue onto the sponge by pouncing the sponge in the glue a few times.
  • Working with one die-cut at a time, pounce glue to the backsides of the leaves and feathers and attach them to the journal cover just under the knot of the ribbon.
  • Stamp sentiment with Cajun Craze ink onto the backside of a label piece from the kit. And sponge the edges with Crumb Cake ink.
  • Add this to the front of the journal using Dimensionals.
  • Lastly add a couple sequins tucked under each side of the sentiment piece.

This second version has a different sentiment from the kit and gives the journal a whole new purpose. I can see a young person using this journal to write thoughts about the treasured friendships they have and possibly adding photos, too.

This second project idea I have for you today was inspired by the first Monster Gift Pouch I made and shared almost a week ago. (Click here to see that idea and a few others I posted already on my blog.) This one is my happy female version. And the envelope opens downward, so you need to be able to tuck the flap under the eyes to keep the contents inside before it’s “gifted.”

  • Squeeze some Tombow Liquid Glue onto the corner of Silicone Pad. Collect some glue onto sponge by pouncing the sponge in the glue a few times.
  • Working with one die-cut at a time, pounce glue to the backsides of the dark purple leaves, and attach them to the monster eyes. The leaves are narrow enough to straighten as you glue them down, so you should be able to the the center to line up with the bottom of the eyelid.
  • Pounce glue to the backsides of the orange leaves, and attach them to the inside flap of the envelope as shown.
  • Cut a dark orange leaf down the center, pounce glue to the backsides of the feather halves, and attach them to the outside and inside areas of the envelope as shown to form the lips.
  • Stamp and punch the sentiment piece. Then adhere between the monsters “hands.”

This kit was the perfect one for Halloween enthusiasts. The stamp images, stickers and other kit elements put together per the kit directions made 24 of these adorable treat bags. Click here to see the September 2018 kit video put out by Stampin’ Up! where you can view how to make these bags as intended.

Halloween is one of my husband’s favorite time of year. I remember before we had kids we had high hopes of decorating elaborately and hosting a grand Halloween party every year. It hasn’t happened yet. But who knows…maybe someday.

So this came to mind when I saw this kit…fun party invites! I haven’t shown this idea to my husband yet, but what do you think? Would you come if you got this invitation in the mail? 😉

If you wish to recreate this z-fold card with your kit contents, follow the measurements and directions below.

Measurements of extra products:

  • Whisper White Cardstock:
    • 8-1/2 x 11 printed on from a document you set up on your computer, then cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Basic Black Cardstock:
    • 11″ x 4-1/4″ scored at 2-3/4″ and 5-1/2″
    • Three 4″ long strips torn on the top edge (my strips are 4″ wide x about 1″ tall)

Extra Stampin’ Up! Products I Used:  See below for a full list of extra supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Directions:

  • Color the white side of the silver pumpkin backing layer with the Dark Basic Black Blends marker. Then attach to pumpkin (the white side up) using Dimensions cut in half.
  • Add small rhinestones in the eyes. Set aside.
  • Layer torn strips together to create a “ground” for the cemetery.
  • Cut bag label at the score line and stamp images on the white side to create a tombstone look.
  • Attach ground and tombstone, then adhere to the Gorgeous Grape cardstock about 1″ up from the bottom.
  • Stamp sentiment in the bottom right corner.
  • Attach pumpkin with SNAIL and bat with a Dimensional.
  • Fold card base into a “z-fold” and attach Gorgeous Grape layer (adhesive just on the back of the top half) and the printed Whisper White layer. Then add the “spooky” sticker.

Even if you aren’t planning to host a party, this card layout is still a fun one to send to a friend. Just turn it into a Happy Halloween card or a birthday card for someone with a late October birthday.

If you do plan to decorate to get into the Halloween spirit, another idea I had was to attach the kit characters to the inside of lamp shades. How fun is this?

Notice the spider webs on the top of the lamp? I planned that!

(Just kidding. I guess I miss some spots when I clean my house. How embarrassing.)
