A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop – Back In Plaid

It's a Paper Pumpkin Thing blog hop… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

It’s the last Thursday of the month, so it’s time to see lots of ideas with the November 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit from Stampin’ Up!®
#APaperPumpkinThing

Today is the day where several of us Stampin’ Up! demonstrators bring to you our special “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop. See what I have to share, then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see more creative alternate paper crafting project ideas that we came up with using the contents of this month’s “Back in Plaid” Paper Pumpkin kit. This month’s kit is adorable! Click here to see the November kit video put out by Stampin’ Up! where you can view how to make the intended stocking treat holders.

I’ve already shared several of my creations in a few past posts using the contents of this kit:

and a combination of this kit and last month’s coordinating Pining for Plaid kit:

So I decided to “cut loose.” I got a little silly with my creations for today’s blog hop project. I call these my “overly excited” monsters. Ha! I was actually trying to manipulate the stocking to look like a cute snowman my mom had shown me when she was here visiting. But I couldn’t make it look as cute as when she did it. So rather than giving up, I got goofy and actually liked what I ended up with.

I made the smaller set of teeth on the snow monster with the Ticket Tear Border Punch. They are adhered with Glue Dots to the inside fold of the snow monster. The arms (branches), eyes and bow are also attached with Glue Dots.

The larger teeth on the card monster are the bottoms a few of the banner pieces that come in the kit. I scored my 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Crumb Cake cardstock card base at 1-1/4″ from one end and at 3″ from the other end. Then I adhered my three teeth pieces to the 1-1/4″ section and folded up & stuck this flap down with Dimensionals in the middle for a little lift and Glue Dots on the outer edges.

The teeth hold the top 3″ section of the card closed, and the card opens like a matchbook.

Before assembling the card monster I sponged the edges of the eyelids and around the mouth to give the appearance of a little dimension the ace. This is an optional step, but it really does add a lot to the card. (By the way, all the supplies I used to create these two projects are listed below.)

(The inside sentiment stamp image comes from last month’s October kit. But the “joy” image would work here, too.)

My snow monster gal is stuffed with the blue tissue paper that comes in the kit, but I’m sure you crafters that work with fabric would probably prefer batting. I was too lazy to see if I had any.

It’s the last Thursday of the month, so it’s time to see lots of ideas with the October 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit!
#APaperPumpkinThing

Today is the day where several of us Stampin’ Up! demonstrators bring to you our special “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop. See what I have to share, then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see even more creative alternate ideas that we came up with using the contents of this month’s “Pining for Plaid” Paper Pumpkin kit. This month’s kit is so pretty. Click here to see the October kit video put out by Stampin’ Up! where you can view how to make the intended shaker cards.

The October 2017 “Pining for Plaid” Paper Pumpkin kit!…#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

When I first opened this kit, I played around with the window sheets and embossed one with our Winter Wonder snowflake embossing folder. I loved how it turned out, but it wasn’t until yesterday that I knew what I wanted to make with it.

I actually embossed 4 of the large window sheets from the kit and made a luminary!

Click here to see some great alternate ideas created with the October 2017 “Pining for Plaid” Paper Pumpkin kit on the Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop!…#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I took 2 of the plaid cards and scored one card in from each side 1/2″ and cut the other card in from each side 1/2″. Then I scored up 1″ from the bottom edge of each card.

I marked all the folds in this photo below. The middle dotted lines represent the creases that are already in the cards when you get them in the kit.

Then I folded each card in half. I centered the almost 3″ circle die over the more narrow card and ran it through the Big Shot to cut through both layers. (The white strip of cardstock in this photo is the extra 1/2″ that I cut off in the first step. I put it in the photo to show that this card I just die-cut was the trimmed one.)

Rather than guessing where to cut that circle on the other card, I recommend opening up both cards and layering the smaller card over the bigger so that they are center aligned.

I put the circle die back in place (over one hole at a time) and die-cut through that second card.

Then I trimmed off 1/8″ from each 1/2″ scored section of the wider card. The scored sections ended up being 3/8″ wide.

Next I cut the bottom corners out of the wider card but angled out a bit (as shown) when cutting. (Angling out helps the flaps a bit then assembling the luminary.) Then I cut up through the middle as shown.

And I cut up through the middle on the more narrow card, too. (Again that extra angle-cutting will help with assembly.)

I attached the four embossed window sheets on the white side with Glue Dots so they were centered in the circle windows.

Then I added Tear & Tape adhesive to the printed side of the 3/8″ wide outer areas of the wider card. And I connected the two cards together to form the walls of the luminary.

I turned the luminary upside-down and attached Tear & Tape adhesive to the white side of the bottom flaps. Next I cut the cardboard (that comes in the kit) to 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″. I folded the sticky flaps of the luminary in to form a square base, then I turned the luminary over and placed the cardboard inside to complete the “floor.”

The battery-operated tea light that I had was just under 1-1/2″ in diameter. So I punched this circle from the center of one of the die-cut scrap circles. Then I cut a piece of Gold Foil to 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″, flipped it over and marked the center using the diagonal ruler trick.

I took a slightly larger circle die and cut this from the center of the Gold Foil square.

And I attached the circle piece to the underside of the Gold Foil square. I wanted my Gold Foil to be raised up a bit so the tea light would stay in place, so I added a ring of foam adhesive to the bottom.

Here is a photo of this Gold Foil piece after I placed it inside the luminary.

The tea light fit perfectly!

The final step was adding a bit of decoration to the outside. So I tied some Basic Black Shimmer Ribbon around the base and added some Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers around the top edges.

This card was much easier to explain in a video. So I recorded this yesterday. I messed up a couple times, but I didn’t have time to re-record since my kiddos were being kind enough to entertain themselves outside for awhile so I could have it quiet in the house. Hope you can giggle along with me.

Here are those measurements again…

  • Old Olive cardstock: 3″ x 4-1/4″ and 8″ x 4-1/4″ scored in at each end at 1-1/4″ and 2-1/2″ (can make two from one sheet of 8-1/2″ x 11″)
  • Whisper White cardstock: two pieces that are 2-3/4″ x 4″ each and scraps for punching flower accents
  • Whole Lot of Lovely designer paper: four pieces that are 1″ x 4″ each
  • Pool Party cardstock: scraps for punching flower accents

Click here to see lots of great ideas!...A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop: Layered Leaves September 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit …#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

On Tuesday I shared a bunch of projects I created with the September 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit. But it’s the last Thursday of the month, so now you can be inspired EVEN MORE to “think outside your box” – your Paper Pumpkin box. #APaperPumpkinThing

Today is the day where several of us Stampin’ Up! demonstrators bring to you our special “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop. This month’s kit is simply beautiful. Click here to see the August kit video put out by Stampin’ Up! where you can view how to make the intended cards and treat boxes.

September 2017 Layered Leaves Paper Pumpkin Kit.… #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

This kit put me in the mood for Thanksgiving right away, and my mind went immediately to fall family gatherings. So I turned the pillow box into a flatware/napkin holder and used the card elements for decorating a treat box. Every guest should have a party favor. Right?

Tips:

  • Stamp the tags. Add twine and set aside.
  • Rub over the gold leaf sticker with a Bone Folder, then peel the outline sticker up and out carefully keeping the inside pieces intact. Pull from the outer tips of the leaf towards the center.

Click here to see some great alternate ideas created with the September 2017 “Layered Leaves” Paper Pumpkin kit on the Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop!…#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

  • Cut a note card from the kit in half. Save the embossed half for decorating the top of the Pizza Box. Flip the other side over so the white side of the card is up, and die-cut a solid and a detailed leaf.

  • Peel the outside gold sticker area away from the remaining leaf sticker pieces, put a small piece of Press-n-Seal down on top, and rub the Press-n-Seal onto these remaining gold stickers using the Bone Folder. Flip this over and remove the sticker backing. Then transfer the gold sticker “inside leaf” pieces to the flipped over (brown side) solid die-cut leaf. Watch this video starting at the 25:30 minute mark so you can see how this is done.

  • Slice off one end of the pillow box. Attach the curved scrap to the embossed card half and attach to the top of the assembled Mini Pizza Box.
  • Attach a cluster of leaf accents to the pizza box cover using a few Dimensionals under the gathered stems. Add a couple more Dimensionals on top of those stems, and add the stamped tag. Fill the box with shreddies and treats.

Thailand Achiever’s Blog Hop September 2017: Holiday Catalog Favorites…#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Welcome to the last official Thailand Achievers Blog Hop. We're not really ending though, because in October we kick off 12 months of ALASKA Achievers hops! 🙂 Yep! That's the next trip that many of us earned (and a few are still trying to earn…we have until the last day of September).

The theme for this month is: Holiday Catalog Favorites. So follow along and check out all the other blogs in the hop (click on the names of other participants in the list below) so you can see some fabulous cards and projects incorporating new stamp sets and products from the 2017 Holiday Catalog.

Today I have a handsome "north woods" pocket card to share. The pocket is on the inside and can hold a gift card, cash, tickets, a private love note, etc…

To make things easier, I have a 20-minute how-to video for you to view that I recorded live on Facebook last week. (Just keep in mind that is was recorded live. That will explain why I am talking with a few during the recording.)

Here are those measurements again so you can just copy and paste and reproduce this card right away…

By the way, it was a total coincidence that my nail polish matched! LOL I didn't plan that at all.

Are you ready to see lots more ideas with the August 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit?!
#APaperPumpkinThing

Today is the day where several of us Stampin' Up! demonstrators are bringing to you our special Paper Pumpkin blog hop. See what I have to share, then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see even more creative alternate ideas that we came up with using the contents of this month's "Giftable Greetings" Paper Pumpkin kit. To follow the hop, simply scroll down to click the "next" button or to click on the names of other participants in the hop.

This month's kit is so pretty! Click here to see the August kit video put out by Stampin' Up! where you can view how to make these intended cards, tags and gift box from this kit.

I posted some alternate card ideas a few days ago (and I still have more ideas that I am working on but this recovering from surgery stuff has slowed me a bit – lol), but for today I want to share this goofy turkey on a stick and a coordinating scrapbook page layout. Isn't he cute?! hahaha

I used two flowers from the kit:

  • The peach one cut in two – 5 petals & 3 petals
  • The blue one cut in three – 5 petals, 2 petals and 1 petal that I omited

Then I used the 3/4" circle punch and punched the round body from the scrap paper around the peach flowers. The head is another petal from one more peach flower.

The beak is a portion of a star from a Pumpkin Pie Enamel Shape. And the wattle is half of a heart from a Real Red Enamel Shape. I just cut the enamel shapes with my Paper Snips – super easy.

I thought this guy would be fun to put into a dessert at Thanksgiving time.

And with an extra 1/8" hole punched at the bottom of the tag, the tag below him can fit perfectly onto a skewer! Did you recognize the words? That stamp image came from last year's September 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit.

This is what the back looks like. I attached the turkey to the top of the skewer with Dimensionals. The Dimensionals are sandwiched between the turkey and this flower on the back.

Here are the extra supplies that I used to make my turkey on a stick (besides the contents of the August 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit):

After Thanksgiving is over, that cute little turkey could go into a scrapbook layout to share photos of the fun family holiday!

I used the envelopes from the kit for photo mats.

And for the bottom border, I added Dimensionals from the kit under the tips of each leaf creating a little shadow and depth. I also brought in a few more red heart Enamel Shapes and some Crinkled Seam Binding.

I gave my turkey some feet this time using the smallest stamp image from the kit.

And I made the page title by covering the "s" in thanks with another enamel heart and the die-cut letters F, U and L.
