A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop – Day by Day

It's a Paper Pumpkin Thing blog hop… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

#APaperPumpkinThing
Yay! Today is the day where a creative team of us Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators bring to you our special “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop. See what I have to share. Then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see additional creative alternate paper crafting project ideas that we each came up with using the contents of the December 2018 “Day by Day” Paper Pumpkin kit. To follow the hop and see other creative project ideas, simply scroll down and click on the names of other hop participants.

The December Kit includes supplies and instructions for putting together an 18-month hanging calendar. Click here or below to see the December 2018 kit video put out by Stampin’ Up! that shares how to make that calendar.

For those of you who got this kit and want to make something a little different, I hope these ideas we all share today will inspire you.

I strayed away from the calendar idea altogether for my clear gift box and coordinating gift card shown below.

Measurements of extra products:

  • Pool Party Cardstock:
    • 4-1/2″ x 3″ scored at 2-1/4″ and folded in half for the card base

Measurements of kit products:

  • Pool Party Ribbon:
    • 24″
  • One of the gray calendar pieces (I used March 2020):
    • Cut into two pieces that are 2″ x 2-3/4″

Products I Used from the Kit: the cover of the calendar box, the ribbon, the stamps, the Pool Party ink and the March 2020 calendar piece
Extra Stampin’ Up! Products I Used:  See below for a full list of extra supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Directions:

  • Position a ruler along the long edge of the clear box cover so that the length of that side fits evenly between the 0 and the 6-inch mark. Then cut at the 2-1/2″ and the 3-1/2″ points. Do the same on the other side.

  • Cut straight up at those measurements on each side until you reach the creases.
  • Lay it down on a Stampin’ Pierce Mat, open up these newly cut “tabs” in the sides, insert your ruler to use as a straight edge, and use the stylus end of the Take Your Pick tool to make score lines connecting the tab cuts.

  • Fold the clear box cover along the score lines to make them sharper/more crisp.

  • Add candy or some other gift. (I added 16 Dove Promises Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt candies because they fit perfectly and the color coordinated with the ribbon in the kit.)
  • Then tie the box shut with the Pool Party ribbon.
  • For the gift card, cut 2″ off the top of the March 2020 calendar piece. Then cut off the ends of this so that the holes get removed. This will leave you with a 2″ x 2-3/4″ piece. Add this to the front of the card using SNAIL.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink. Then stamp the sparkle/dot image in Pool Party ink.
  • Flip the remaining part of the calendar piece over and cut another 2″ x 2-3/4″ piece from the all-white side to add to the inside of the card using SNAIL adhesive.

  • Add rhinestones in the centers of the “sparkle” images on the front of the card.
  • Write a message on the inside, slip the card under the bow, and gift to someone special.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop – Friends of a Feather

It's a Paper Pumpkin Thing blog hop… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

#APaperPumpkinThing
Yay! Today is the day where a creative team of us Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators bring to you our special “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop. See what I have to share, then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see additional creative alternate paper crafting project ideas that we each came up with using the contents of the October 2018 “Friends of a Feather” Paper Pumpkin kit. The October 2018 Paper Pumpkin Kit: Friends of a Feather! …#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I loved the cards that Stampin’ Up! designed for this kit – 8 cards, 4 of each of these 2 designs! The card elements (die-cut feathers and leaves, sequins, metallic twine and ribbon, beautiful papers and sentiments in the stamp set) are beautiful. Click here to see the October 2018 kit video put out by Stampin’ Up! where you can view how to make these cards as intended.

But for those of you who got this kit and want to change things up a bit, I have a couple ideas to share today. This first one is not too far from the original look in the cards, but it’s a journal cover instead of a card. I like to keep a list of those I know dealing with pain,  illness or loss in a notebook called a prayer journal. My other notebook was old, and the piling post it notes weren’t working anymore… I needed a new journal. I can open it up and read it to remind me who I can send my well wishes to.

Click here to see my Monster Gift Pocket, my prayer journal AND several other alternate project ideas created with the October 2018 Friends of a Feather Paper Pumpkin Kit shared in our blog hop: “A Paper Pumpkin Thing”!…#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

If you wish to recreate this journal with your kit contents, follow the measurements and directions below.

Measurements of extra products:

Measurements of kit products:

  • Metallic Chevron Ribbon:
    • 11″
    • 4-1/2″
  • Metallic Twine:
    • 14″

Extra Stampin’ Up! Products I Used:  See below for a full list of extra supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Directions:

  • Sponge the edges of theCrumb Cake cardstock with Crumb Cake ink.
  • Tie the 4-1/2″ ribbon around the 11″ ribbon towards the top.
  • Tie on the twine.
  • Then tape the 11″ ribbon close to the left edge of the Crumb Cake cardstock being sure to wrap and tape the ends to the backside.
  • Put plenty of Tear & Tape adhesive along the backside (especially along the edges) of the Crumb Cake cardstock, then attach to the front cover of the composition book.
  • Trim up the corners and any cardstock extending beyond. Then sponge the edges a bit more to ensure that the areas that were trimmed will blend in and look uniform with the other edges.
  • Squeeze some Tombow Liquid Glue onto the corner of the Silicone Pad. Collect some of the glue onto the sponge by pouncing the sponge in the glue a few times.
  • Working with one die-cut at a time, pounce glue to the backsides of the leaves and feathers and attach them to the journal cover just under the knot of the ribbon.
  • Stamp sentiment with Cajun Craze ink onto the backside of a label piece from the kit. And sponge the edges with Crumb Cake ink.
  • Add this to the front of the journal using Dimensionals.
  • Lastly add a couple sequins tucked under each side of the sentiment piece.

This second version has a different sentiment from the kit and gives the journal a whole new purpose. I can see a young person using this journal to write thoughts about the treasured friendships they have and possibly adding photos, too.

This second project idea I have for you today was inspired by the first Monster Gift Pouch I made and shared almost a week ago. (Click here to see that idea and a few others I posted already on my blog.) This one is my happy female version. And the envelope opens downward, so you need to be able to tuck the flap under the eyes to keep the contents inside before it’s “gifted.”

    • Scrap for stamping and punching 1″ Circle
  • Coastal Cabana Cardstock:

  • Pounce glue to the backsides of the orange leaves, and attach them to the inside flap of the envelope as shown.
  • Cut a dark orange leaf down the center, pounce glue to the backsides of the feather halves, and attach them to the outside and inside areas of the envelope as shown to form the lips.
  • Stamp and punch the sentiment piece. Then adhere between the monsters “hands.”
  • Close the envelope flap shut when everything as dried, then add the eyes so that they overlap the envelope flap slightly.
  • Put a treat inside, and give to someone special.

Halloween is one of my husband’s favorite time of year. I remember before we had kids we had high hopes of decorating elaborately and hosting a grand Halloween party every year. It hasn’t happened yet. But who knows…maybe someday.

So this came to mind when I saw this kit…fun party invites! I haven’t shown this idea to my husband yet, but what do you think? Would you come if you got this invitation in the mail? 😉

Even if you aren’t planning to host a party, this card layout is still a fun one to send to a friend. Just turn it into a Happy Halloween card or a birthday card for someone with a late October birthday.

If you do plan to decorate to get into the Halloween spirit, another idea I had was to attach the kit characters to the inside of lamp shades. How fun is this?

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop – Blissful Blooms

It's a Paper Pumpkin Thing blog hop… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Hooray! Today is the day where a creative team of us Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators bring to you our special “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop. See what I have to share, then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see additional creative alternate paper crafting project ideas that we each came up with using the contents of the August 2018 “Blissful Blooms” Paper Pumpkin kit. The August 2018 Paper Pumpkin Kit: Blissful Blooms! …#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

This is one of my all-time favorite kits. The products and colors are beautiful, the embellishments are gorgeous and easy to work with. And the sentiments are fantastic. Click here to see the August kit video put out by Stampin’ Up! where you can view how to make these cards as intended.

There is a sentiment in this stamp set that is very touching for sympathy cards. So when I made my projects for the hop this month, I had in mind items that could be made quickly and shared at a memorial service.

This first one is a simple tissue holder. You could make one and give it as a gift to a loved one who experienced loss. Or many of these could be put together and be made available at the service for anyone who forgot to bring their own tissues. OR…change out the sentiment and give to someone as a get well gift or a back to school gift.

If you wish to recreate this tissue holder with your kit contents, follow the measurements and directions below.

Measurements of kit products:

  • Card base with flowers in the center: Cut 5/8″ off each long side, then score parallel to the short edge (starting on the floral side) at 1″, 3-1/4″, 4-1/4″ (already scored), and 6-1/2″. Then trim at 7″.
  • Flirty Flamingo Twine: 20″

Extra Stampin’ Up! Products I Used:  See below for a full list of extra supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Directions:

  • After cutting and scoring the card base, fold up and around a personalized tissue packet. (You may need to adjust the measurements to fit other brands of tissue.) Then secure shut by putting Tear & Tape Adhesive on the last 1/2″ wide section and securing shut.
  • Stamp the sentiment on the large label.
  • Wrap twine around the top and tie in a bow. Shift bow so it’s towards the bottom and has room for the sentiment piece.
  • Place Dimensional on tissue holder where sentiment will sit. (Use the bottom Dimensional to also attach a vellum leaf embellishment.

  • Adhere the sentiment piece.
  • Then add a couple Frosted Epoxy Droplets (new in the 2018 Holiday catalog that will debut on September 5th!).

This second project idea I have for you today is this set of photo pages. Make several sets. And then fill the pages with photos of the loved one who passed on, and put them on display at their memorial service. The pages can then be transferred to a photo album afterwards. Of course, changing the sentiment can change these pages to a whole other theme. These floral pages would be great for showing photos of prom, a wedding, a shower, etc.

If you wish to recreate these pages with your kit contents, follow the measurements and directions below.

Measurements of extra products:

  • Whisper White Cardstock:
    • 12″ x 12″ (two)
  • Basic Black Cardstock (for matting photos):
    • 3-5/8″ x 2-11/16″ (ten)
    • 3-5/8″ x 5-5/8″ (two)
    • 3-3/4″ x 5-5/8″ (two)
  • Basic Black Cardstock (for layer under sentiment):
    • 3-1/2″ x 1-3/4″

Measurements of kit products:

  • Card base with flowers around outside edge (2):
    • cut on score line and just use the floral half
    • for second card base cut on score line, then cut 1-3/4″ off one side and 1-3/4″ off the other side to get two 1-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ strips
  • Card base with flowers in the center: cut on score line and just use the floral half

Extra Stampin’ Up! Products I Used:  See below for a full list of extra supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Directions:

  • Stamp the sentiment.
  • Attach all photo mat pieces and floral printed pieces to pages as shown. There will be about 1/4″ for the gaps in-between. And the two floral strips should attach from the outer edges of the page and meet with a gap in between as shown below.

  • Punch both ends of the 3-1/2″ x 1-3/4″ Basic Black cardstock piece. Then adhere sentiment piece.

  • Put SNAIL adhesive in the gap between the floral strips, and adhere vellum leaf embellishments so they will be coming out on the left.
  • Attach sentiment piece with Dimensionals.
  • Add a few Clear Epoxy Droplets (new in the 2018 Holiday catalog that will debut on September 5th!) to various areas on the page.

I’ve been making quite a few freestanding pop up cards lately. So I thought it would be fun to try them with this kit. The beauty of this fun fold is that is can flatten and fit into a medium envelope, but it pops up into a fun, freestanding card when fully open.

If you wish to recreate this card with your kit contents, I encourage you to first watch the video on my July 12th post to see how the base of this type of fun-fold card is put together. Then follow the measurements and directions below.

Measurements of extra products:

  • Whisper White Thick Cardstock:
    • 11″ x 4-1/4″ scored in the middle at 5-1/2″ and then scored in at each end at 1″, 2-3/4″ and 3-3/4″
    • 2-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ (for the back)
  • Blueberry Bushel Cardstock: 2-3/4” x 5-1/2”

Measurements of kit products:

  • Basket Rim Stickers: two that are each 4-1/4″ long
  • Blue/White Cotton/Tissue Paper: either a 2-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ piece or a scrap cut to fit in that size (I had already made another card before this one, so I used a triangular scrap for the one I made because I loved the angled look.)
  • White Twine: 8″

Extra Stampin’ Up! Products I Used:  See below for a full list of extra supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Directions:

  • Attach the 2-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ Whisper White to the 2-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ Blueberry Bushel piece. Attach the 2-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Blue/White Cotton/Tissue Paper to the other side. (Again…I used a scrap triangular piece I had on hand and made it fit that 2-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ space.)

Click here to see two fun freestanding pop up cards that I created (and more great ideas from others!) with the July 2018 Picnic Paradise Paper Pumpkin kit in A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop! Have fun on the hop!…#apaperpumpkinthing #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

  • When looking at the 11″ x 4-1/4″ scored Whisper White, stamp the sentiment just above the score line below the middle one.
  • Watch the video on the July 12th post to see where to cut the slit in the 5-1/2″ score line, how to fold the Whisper White card base, where to add the Tear & Tape Adhesive, and how to put together the base with the inserted layered Blueberry Bushel cardstock. The two 1″ sections meet in the middle underneath and hold the bottom of the 5-1/2″ x 2-3/4″ panel that pops up through the 2-3/4″ wide slit at the top (that goes through the 5-1/2″ crease line).
  • After watching the video and assembling the base, add the remaining pieces…
  • Add a brad through the hole of each Basket Rim sticker.
  • Close the card flat and attach these stickers as shown through the 1″ tall middle front section. Insert and attach a small strawberry, too. Make sure it is tilted so it doesn’t cover up the words. And make sure it only attaches to the Basket Rim stickers.
  • Add leaf stickers to the upper left section of the Blueberry Bushel piece above where the top of the folded white card base sits when the card is closed and below the very top of the Blueberry Bushel piece. Turn the card over and tap the powder from the Embossing Buddy on the back of the leaf stickers to “remove” the stickiness.

  • Add a couple Mini Dimensionals to the top back area of a large strawberry. Then attach the strawberry at the top making sure the Mini Dimensionals are above where the top of the folded white card base sits when the card is closed.
  • Finally with a rolled up Glue Dot from the kit attach the twine tied in a bow.

Here is another version of this card.

Again, you’ll want to make sure that any embellishments on the panel piece are added with Dimensionals that are positioned just above where the card base reaches when the card is flattened. (On this card the small blueberries that I punched from the scraps in the kit are attached to the apple only.) You also want to do any stamping on the card base before you assemble the card.

To get the white behind the holes in the blueberry and apple, I just added small scraps of Whisper White to the back sides.

The June 2018 Broadway Star Paper Pumpkin kit…#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I love that there is a whole suite of products in the 2018-19 Annual Catalog that was made to coordinate with this month’s kit. So I decided to create a gift bag and matching tag. I used the coordinating Broadway Bound designer paper, a couple other products from this coordinating suite, and pieces that would be left over if a person made all the cards in this Paper Pumpkin kit as is. A special thanks to Samantha Clayton at Mixed Up Craft for the inspiration for my bag.

First watch my how-to video, then scroll down to see the scoring & cutting measurements patterns, close-up photos, special links, and a list of products/supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.

This is a project that was easier to explain in a video, but hopefully these images below with measurements are helpful to any of you wanting to print something off.
