A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop: Lovely Day

It's a Paper Pumpkin Thing blog hop… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

#APaperPumpkinThing
Welcome to our monthly “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop! See what I have to share. Then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see additional creative alternate paper crafting project ideas that we each came up with using the contents of the February 2020 Lovely Day Paper Pumpkin kit. To follow the hop and see other creative project ideas, simply scroll down and click on the names of other hop participants.

Here is a photo of the intended projects from this month’s kit: nine 4-1/4” x 5-1/2” cards and envelopes that will help you celebrate birthdays and other grand occasions.

The February 2020 Lovely Day Paper Pumpkin Kit. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I’ve already shared a few other alternate projects using the contents of this kit on February 23rd.

  • Two Slide-Out Pocket Fun Fold Cards
  • Mini Gift Bags (Make Two From One Card Base)
  • A Hexaflexagon Card
  • And Three Cards Made Using the Extras In the Kit

CLICK HERE to check them out for more ideas.

Today I have for you two more projects: another mini gift bag (the one that Paper Pumpkin shared in it’s Facebook Live last night using the original dimensions from Linda Heller) and a 12×12 scrapbook page layout. Have a party for someone dear to you, and give them a gift card in this mini bag. Then take photos and add a couple favorites to this scrapbook page as a memorabilia of the event!

Products I used for these projects… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.

I got the idea for this bag from my team members, Nancy & Kayla at Stampinbae.com. They got the measurements from Linda Heller. It’s such an adorable size and is a perfect way to give a gift card.

Click here to see & get details for a fun mini gift bag and a beautiful page layout that I made with the contents of the February 2020 Lovely Day Paper Pumpkin Kit and coordinating products. Plus you can see several other alternate project ideas created with this kit by fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrators in our blog hop: “A Paper Pumpkin Thing”! - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Measurements to prepare…

  • Pretty Peacock striped card base from kit
    • (cut according to directions below)
  • Whisper White Cardstock
    • Scrap for stamping and punching cake/sentiment image
  • Silver Foil Sheets
    • Scrap for punching Starburst
  • Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon
    • 7-1/2″

Directions…

  • Cut 1/4″ off each short end of the open Pretty Peacock striped card base from the kit. These will be the handles of the bag. Set them aside. Cut another 1/2″ off one of the ends and discard. Cut the remaining piece parallel to the long side at 4-1/4″ so you end up with a 7-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ bag base piece.
  • This piece includes a score line at 3-1/2″ from one end. With that score line included in these measurements score parallel to it so you end up with score lines at 2-1/2″, 3″, 3-1/2″, 6″, 6-1/2″ and 7″. Then score parallel to the long side at 1″.
  • Follow the remaining bag assembly directions (if needed) from the video I shared on February 23rd.
  • For the front embellishment, stamp the sentiment words stacked close to one another. Then stamp the cake slice image closely above that. Punch with the 2″ Circle punch purposely leaving off the top part of the candle. Adhere to the punched Silver Foil Starburst shape. Add a silver candle from the Candle Embellishments. Then put on the front of the bag with Dimensionals.

This kit coordinates perfectly with the Happy Birthday to You Stamp Set (item 152308), which is available free as part of Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-A-Bration promotion. So I added images (die-cut with the coordinating Birthday Dies – also available for a limited time) to make this page layout.

Measurements to prepare…

  • Basic Black Cardstock
    • Two pieces that are 5-5/8″ x 4-1/4″
    • 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8″
  • Pretty Peacock striped card base from kit
    • Two pieces that are 5-1/2″ x 4-1/8″
  • Circle medallion from kit
    • one whole one flipped over to the all white side
    • one whole one cut in half
  • Whisper White Cardstock
    • Scrap for stamping and die-cutting full cake
    • Scrap for stamping and die-cutting flowers only
  • Champagne Foil Sheets
    • Scraps for die-cutting cake plate and three branches

Directions…

  • Stamp, die-cut, and color flowers. Stamp and die-cut full cake (cut off the bottom). Die-cut the cake plate and the branches.

Plus you can see several other alternate project ideas created with this kit by fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrators in our blog hop: “A Paper Pumpkin Thing”! - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

  • Stamp the sentiment onto the left half of the longest rectangular label from the kit.
  • Layer Pretty Peacock striped card base pieces onto coordinating Basic Black pieces. Layer printed Pool Party piece from the kit onto the remaining Basic Black piece. Adhere flipped over medallion. Position these three main layers onto the Pear Pizzazz 12×12 Cardstock base. And once they are where you want them, stamp the large flower image using VersaMark ink so they appear to be peeking out from behind the photo mats. (Move the mats when stamping.)

  • Now adhere mats using adhesive just in the four corners of the photo mats and in the center of the other layer. This will allow the remaining pieces to be tucked underneath where needed.
  • For each half medallion, add a Champagne branch with a glue dot. Then put adhesive on the back of the half medallions, tuck under the layer next to it, and secure to the page.
  • Adhere the sentiment banner strip so it is also tucked under the layer next to it while attaching the foam celebrate piece right below. Cut an end from another banner piece in the kit and adhere this tucked under the other side of that photo mat.
  • Attach full cake and cake plate with Dimensionals while attaching the third branch piece coming out the upper right. And add the second colored layer of cake flowers with Dimensionals so they are lined up with the flowers underneath.

Maui Achievers Blog Hop Feb. ’20: Best Dressed Note Card Variations

Welcome to the February 2020 Maui Achievers Blog Hop!

Maui Achievers Blog Hop! - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Follow along and check out all the other blogs in the hop (click on the names of the participants in the list below my signature) so you can see some fabulous cards and projects created by other demonstrators who also earned the Stampin’ Up!® Maui incentive trip coming up in July of 2020.

I have some cards to share today that Cheryl Lee, my mom and I made this past weekend at my 3rd annual Silver Elite Stars’ Retreat: cards made with the Best Dressed Note Cards, Best Dressed Designer Paper, Dressed to Impress Stamp Set, Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon, and Basic Black Cardstock. I wanted to do something different with those 3×3 note cards. So this is what I came up with.

Click here to see cards that we made this past weekend at my 3rd annual Silver Elite Stars' Retreat: cards made with the Best Dressed Note Cards, Best Dressed Designer Paper, Dressed to Impress Stamp Set, Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon, and Basic Black Cardstock. See more photos, get measurements & directions, and shop for supplies from my online store so you can recreate them for yourself! - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I cut the note cards to create a layer on the front of a full size 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and a small note to tuck into the pocket (the envelope) on the inside.

Products I used… See below for a complete list of products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.

PDF Tutorial… Click here to access and download a direction sheet for this project.

Come see what I share on my blog…www.stampyourartout.com Stampin’ Up!® Stamp Your Art Out!

Measurements per card

  • Basic Black Cardstock: 11” x 4-1/4” scored parallel to the short side at 5-1/2”
  • Best Dressed Note Card: 3” x 2” and 4” x 2” (or 2-1/4”) see directions for how to cut
  • Best Dressed Designer Paper: 4” x 1” and 4” x 2” (or 1-3/4”) and scrap for cutting accent image for the inside of the card
  • Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon: 5” and 8”

Directions

  • Cut back half of note card parallel to the short edge at 2” to get 2” x 3” piece. Then cut this remaining 4” wide piece so that it is 4” x 2” focused around the colored section. (If you cut the yellow one a little taller, then you need to cut the designer paper shorter a bit. See measurements above.
  • Stamp sentiment onto remaining note card piece, then tie on the 8” of ribbon to conceal the score mark.
  • Adhere designer paper pieces at the top and bottom of the Basic Black card front leaving an 1/8” border above and below. Then adhere the stamped note card layer in the middle.
  • Wrap the 5” of ribbon around the base of the coordinating note card envelope and secure in the back with Glue Dots.
  • Cut a coordinating image from the designer paper scrap. Adhere to the envelope. Attach envelope to the inside of the card. And tuck in the 2” x 3” piece of note card. Use this piece for writing on. Insert a gift card or money into pocket if you wish.

Here are close-ups of each of these three cards.

Today I have for you a super fun see-through shaker card! I’m so excited and hope that many of you give this a try. It was complicated enough because of the multiple steps, so I shared how to make this in my last Facebook Live. I then uploaded the recorded version of my Facebook Live video to my YouTube channel (since I know not everyone is ON Facebook). And then I was able to share it here in my blog post. Be sure to watch the video (you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog), scroll through the close-up photos, check out the products list below, and then let me know if you have any questions.

I hope you enjoyed what I shared in this video. (If you ARE on Facebook, I invite you to “like” then “follow” my page so you can get updates when I share and when I go live. My next FB Live will be on Wednesday, February 5 at 11 AM Central Time. Hope you can join me!) Below are measurements, close-up photos, and a product list for the shaker card that I demonstrated.

Maui Achievers Blog Hop Jan ’20: Spotlight on Forever Blossoms

Welcome to the January 2020 Maui Achievers Blog Hop! I’m sharing a few versions of the same card today, and I’d love to know which one is your favorite.

I made each of my cards all with the same base set of supplies including one of my favorite new stamp sets that just debuted in the 2020 Spring Catalog, Forever Blossoms. (See below for a complete list of products I used in these cards linked to where you can find them in my online store.) I’ll share the base measurements, and then I’ll give tips for each card so you can then recreate any of them if you so desire.

Maui Achievers Blog Hop January 2020: I created several versions of the same card featuring the new Forever Blossoms Stamp Set. Which one is your favorite? Click here to get the directions, measurements and supplies AND to see other great ideas shared by fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrators who also earned this fabulous incentive trip taking place in July 2020! - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Measurements…

  • Basic Black Cardstock
    • 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” scored parallel to the short edge at 4-1/4”
    • Scrap that is at least 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ for optional layer (each of my cards has a slightly different size layer)
  • Shimmery White Cardstock
    • 4″ x 5-1/4″
    • 4″ x 2-3/4″ (for the inside)
    • 4″ x 1/2″ strip
  • Ribbon (Mint Macaron 1/8″ Sheer Linen or Petal Pink Metallic-Edge)
    • up to 7″

Let’s start with this one and call it card #1

Maui Achievers Blog Hop January 2020: I created several versions of the same card featuring the new Forever Blossoms Stamp Set. Which one is your favorite? Click here to get the directions, measurements and supplies AND to see other great ideas shared by fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrators who also earned this fabulous incentive trip taking place in July 2020! - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I stamped my image on the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Shimmery White piece. And then I trimmed in 1-1/8″ on all four sides to remove the center. I colored that center piece using my Blender Pen and ink from the lid of my ink pads, and mounted it onto my scrap Basic Black that I trimmed to 2″ x 3-1/4″. On this card my sentiment strip (which I trimmed down to fit better) is attached with SNAIL on the left and a Dimensional on the right. My bow on the left I added with a Glue Dot. And the 4″ x 2-3/4″ Shimmery White is just added to the inside (most of my cards are like that on the inside).

This one is card #2

Maui Achievers Blog Hop January 2020: I created several versions of the same card featuring the new Forever Blossoms Stamp Set. Which one is your favorite? I colored the whole image this time BEFORE cutting. And then I trimmed in 1″ on all four sides to remove the center. I colored that center piece using my Blender Pen and ink from the lid of my ink pads but this time with a little lighter touch. I mounted it onto my scrap Basic Black that I trimmed to 2-1/4″ x 3-1/2″. My sentiment strip is attached with Dimensionals on the right and the left. Then I just tied a knot and added it with a Glue Dot in the lower right.

This is card #3

I stamped my image on the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Shimmery White piece. And then I punched a portion out with my 2″ Circle Punch. I colored that piece using my Blender Pen and Watercolor Pencils, and mounted it onto a 2-1/4″ Basic Black Circle. Because my circle was off to the left a bit, I added my sentiment strip (which I trimmed down) is attached with Dimensionals coming in from the right. My bow is added with a Glue Dot. And I embellished the three colored flower centers with Champagne Rhinestones.

This is card #4

I stamped my image on the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Shimmery White piece. And then I removed the middle with the 1-7/8″ x 3-3/16″ Stitched Rectangle Die and colored that piece using my Blender Pen and ink from the lid of my ink pads. I mounted this onto a 2″ x 3-3/8″ Basic Black piece. And I attached my bow in the lower right with a Glue Dot.

I did something a little different for the inside of this card, though. I thought this was a fun place to add my sentiment strip.

I’m not a fan of this one because I messed up on the watercoloring. hahaha! For this card I stamped my image on the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Shimmery White piece, but I didn’t remove the center to do any spotlighting. Then I colored across the whole piece using my Aqua Painter and ink from the lid of my ink pads. I attached two strips of my ribbon coming from the top right and lower right areas of my sentiment, attached the strip with a Dimensional under the left and Glue Dots under the right and trimmed off the excess before attaching it to my Basic Black card base. I finished it by adding Champagne Rhinestones to the four flower centers.

I’m curious…which one do YOU like the best?

Have fun on the hop! And enjoy seeing all those inspiring ideas made by fellow trip achievers!

Here is a photo of the intended projects from this month’s kit: 12 attractive all-occasion cards (4 of 3 designs).

The December 2019 Something for Everything Paper Pumpkin Kit. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I’ve already shared a few other alternate projects using the contents of this kit on December 21st.

  • Three K-Cup holders
  • A simple congratulations card
  • A flower pot card
  • A pyramid/teepee card
  • And a 12×12 scrapbook page

CLICK HERE to check them out for more ideas.

Today I have for you two more projects: a beautiful birthday sampler framed décor piece and a super simple thank you/thinking of you card. I’ll start by sharing my card.

Products I used for these projects… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Click here to see & get details for a beautiful birthday sampler framed décor piece and a super simple thinking of you card that I made with the December 2019 Something for Everything Paper Pumpkin Kit. Plus you can see several other alternate project ideas created with this kit in our blog hop: “A Paper Pumpkin Thing”! - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Measurements to prepare…

  • Basic Black Cardstock
    • 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″

Directions…

  • Adhere the Basic Black Cardstock to the front of the Gold Foil-Edged Card with SNAIL.
  • Use 2″ Circle Punch and punch as much of this shape as you can from the corner of a used up sticker sheet from the kit so that the circle includes the “branch cut-out.”
  • Stamp sentiment with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto the banner piece from the kit.
  • Add this to the front of the card with Dimensionals from the kit. Add the gold 2″ diameter punched out partial circle above the sentiment so the flat edge meets up or tucks behind the sentiment banner. (Adding these at the same time will help with placement to make everything feel balanced on the card.)
  • Embellish with rhinestones from the kit. I noticed the one on the left on my card shifted a bit before I took the photos.

This is the second project I made: a beautiful birthday sampler framed décor piece.

I found the frame at Hobby Lobby. I can’t find a link to it online. Guessing it was a clearance item? It was originally this black frame with the wood background. And in the center were these welded wire words: boss babe. I removed the words which left the frame with 4 holes. So I attached my sampler to the front of this using the longest of my Metallic Brads.

I recommend adding the Basic Black Cardstock with the brands first and THEN building the designs on top of that. I didn’t do that. I made the sampler first and then found the frame.

Measurements to prepare…

  • Basic Black Cardstock
    • 8-1/2″ x 8-1/2″
  • Call Me Clover striped card base from kit
    • solid green: 2-1/2″ x 5-1/4″
    • striped pattern: 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″
  • Crushed Curry card base from kit
    • solid yellow: 2-1/2″ x 5-1/4″
    • polka-dot pattern: 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″
  • Terracotta Tile floral card base from kit
    • solid dark orange: 2-1/2″ x 5-1/4″
    • floral pattern: 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″

Directions…

  • Use SNAIL to adhere the cut card base pieces to the Basic Black 8-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ base.
  • Stamp the sentiments with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, and trim ends.
  • Add two of the largest gold foliage stickers. Use one full one on the solid green section. Use 1/2 of one on the yellow section. And use the other 1/2 on the dark orange section about one inch from the left edge.
  • Add the gold swirl sticker in the middle.
  • Now add the sentiment pieces with Dimensionals.
  • Use the Embossing Buddy to pounce powder on the back sides of some large and small flowers and some leaves to remove the stickiness. And add flowers and leaves (the non-sticky ones with Dimensionals, the sticky ones just flat as is) to the sampler as shown.
  • Finally embellish with rhinestones.

I’m not sure if you made the connection already. But I got the inspiration for my scrapbook page that I shared on the 21st after making this sampler. Yes, I shared my scrapbook page first. But I had already made the sampler beforehand when I was planning for this blog hop and loved it so much that I had to turn it into a page, too.
