Peeks at Inspiration for the December Kit!

Tomorrow is the last day to sign up for Paper Pumpkin (or reactive your account if you canceled or suspended) if you want in on the “sure-to-be-beautiful” December 2017 kit. Here is a visual of the inspiration board shared by Stampin’ Up! on the Paper Pumpkin Facebook page today. They mentioned that it will be a kit with CARDS! And… there will be more added to the inspiration board tomorrow!

I think these cards are going to be quite pretty! I can’t wait!! And remember…if you are one of my personal subscribers, you’ll be emailed a bunch more fabulous exclusive ideas – 11-13 project sheets (tutorials with photos) on January 2nd.

Come see what I share on my blog… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Tonight I thought I’d share with you just a few more Paper Pumpkin ideas that I created recently for my Paper Pumpkin Palooza event that I held on November 30th and December 2nd. Each attendee received this decorated “inside-out” Paper Pumpkin box filled with a variety of my past kit creations. (I make several with each kit so they pile up over time. I can’t possibly gift them all.)

The stamp set images come from a set that is no longer available. But it’s a keeper!

I fancied up the ribbon by just putting a loop of Gold Sequin Trim in it before finishing the bow. And I colored White Perfect Accents with a couple Stampin’ Blends Markers to make them look like miniature versions of the peaches in the paper. 🙂

Here are most of the products I used to decorate this box.

It was a fabulous event. There was food, stamping, ideas and prizes. And many guests attend just to purchase past Paper Pumpkin kits. (I collect them for my “store” by getting a couple of extra boxes each month.) They make great gifts for the holidays. But I think many of the attendees purchased them to keep for themselves. Hehehe

Have a great rest of your weekend. And remember to sign up by the end of the day tomorrow, Sunday (December 10th) so you can get in on the December kit which will ship on December 11th!

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop – Back In Plaid

It's a Paper Pumpkin Thing blog hop… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

It’s the last Thursday of the month, so it’s time to see lots of ideas with the November 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit from Stampin’ Up!®
#APaperPumpkinThing

Today is the day where several of us Stampin’ Up! demonstrators bring to you our special “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop. See what I have to share, then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see more creative alternate paper crafting project ideas that we came up with using the contents of this month’s “Back in Plaid” Paper Pumpkin kit. To follow the hop, simply scroll down to click the “next” button or click on the names of other participants in the hop.

This month’s kit is adorable! Click here to see the November kit video put out by Stampin’ Up! where you can view how to make the intended stocking treat holders.

Click here to alternate ideas created with the November 2017 Back In Plaid Paper Pumpkin kit...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I’ve already shared several of my creations in a few past posts using the contents of this kit:

and a combination of this kit and last month’s coordinating Pining for Plaid kit:

So I decided to “cut loose.” I got a little silly with my creations for today’s blog hop project. I call these my “overly excited” monsters. Ha! I was actually trying to manipulate the stocking to look like a cute snowman my mom had shown me when she was here visiting. But I couldn’t make it look as cute as when she did it. So rather than giving up, I got goofy and actually liked what I ended up with.

I made the smaller set of teeth on the snow monster with the Ticket Tear Border Punch. They are adhered with Glue Dots to the inside fold of the snow monster. The arms (branches), eyes and bow are also attached with Glue Dots.

The larger teeth on the card monster are the bottoms a few of the banner pieces that come in the kit. I scored my 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Crumb Cake cardstock card base at 1-1/4″ from one end and at 3″ from the other end. Then I adhered my three teeth pieces to the 1-1/4″ section and folded up & stuck this flap down with Dimensionals in the middle for a little lift and Glue Dots on the outer edges.

The teeth hold the top 3″ section of the card closed, and the card opens like a matchbook.

Before assembling the card monster I sponged the edges of the eyelids and around the mouth to give the appearance of a little dimension the ace. This is an optional step, but it really does add a lot to the card. (By the way, all the supplies I used to create these two projects are listed below.)

(The inside sentiment stamp image comes from last month’s October kit. But the “joy” image would work here, too.)

My snow monster gal is stuffed with the blue tissue paper that comes in the kit, but I’m sure you crafters that work with fabric would probably prefer batting. I was too lazy to see if I had any.

Pining for Plaid Meets Back in Plaid

I combined elements from both the October and November “made-to-coordinate” Paper Pumpkin kits and came up with these alternate ideas that I’m super excited to share with you today.

This first card is pretty straight forward. I cut each banner in two, embossed the word “joy” on the blank one, and added them to the card front popping the bottom of each image piece up on Dimensionals.

…a pop-up snowflake!

For the pop-up section, I scored this large circle window piece so the circular area folded in half.

Then after folding, I scored again (on both sides) so that I had areas to put adhesive on to secure this piece to the inside of the card. (See the ruler in the images for where to score)

Click here to see alternate ideas created with the BOTH the October Pining for Plaid & November Back In Plaid Paper Pumpkin kits...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I inserted and adhered a window sheet, attached this pop-up piece in the crease area of the inside of the card, covered the ends with Cherry Cobbler Cardstock layers, and then added two punched-out snowflakes on the front and back of the window sheet.

I stamped the snowflakes and sentiments. And then the rest I just assembled as shown.

Measurements:

  • Cherry Cobbler cardstock: 11″ x 4-1/4″ folded in half for card base & two pieces that are 3-3/4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Gold Foil paper: 3-3/4″ x 5″
  • Basic Black cardstock: 3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″
  • Whisper White cardstock: two pieces that are 3″ x 4″
  • Window Sheet: 3-1/2″ x 1-3/4″

This third one, my moon card is my favorite, because it’s just so different from the rest of them.

Click here to see alternate ideas created with the BOTH the October Pining for Plaid & November Back In Plaid Paper Pumpkin kits...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I sponged one of the circular frame pieces and the circle that punches out in Dapper Denim ink. I made the outside edges darker by sponging them with even more ink. This way the moon appears to be casting a glow in the night sky! 😉

I then attached the circle behind the frame piece to create a “crescent moon” window making sure the stitched embossed lines matched up. After attaching these pieces to the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper layer with Glue Dots,…

…I added branches to the front (to give the appearance of a tree protruding in) so they discretely concealed the area of overlap.

Click here to see alternate ideas created with the BOTH the October Pining for Plaid & November Back In Plaid Paper Pumpkin kits...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

To give the tree branches a more realistic look I curled a few of the leaves with a Bone Folder. Fun, huh!?

Come see what I share on my blog… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

The last three projects are ones I created with ONLY kit products – no added embellishments, cardstock, punches, dies, ink… I only used my snips & trimmer. OH! And a little Fine Tip Glue to attach a few star sequins. My challenge was to use ONLY what came in the kit. These projects were featured along with others made my a couple fellow demonstrators during a live broadcast on Facebook on November 21st. Click here and here to view the live broadcast.

For this first one I turned one of the stockings into a hat by trimming off the toe area of a stocking and tying it up with some twine.

Click here to see alternate ideas created with the BOTH the October Pining for Plaid & November Back In Plaid Paper Pumpkin kits...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

It’s the perfect treat holder and would be great as small gift to a co-worker or to decorate a place setting at a holiday dinner gathering.

Click here to see alternate ideas created with the BOTH the October Pining for Plaid & November Back In Plaid Paper Pumpkin kits...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

These adorable Hershey Nugget holders below are super simple to make. To make one just cut one of the plaid card base pieces to 1-3/4″ x 8-1/2″. There will be a crease in the middle, but don’t fold it. Instead use your trimmer to add two more score lines parallel to and a 1/2″ away from each side of the middle crease. Fold on those creases.

Click here to see alternate ideas created with the BOTH the October Pining for Plaid & November Back In Plaid Paper Pumpkin kits...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Glue Dot a Hershey Nugget to the bottom inside middle area, stamp the “to/from” image, fold up and clip with a mini clothes pin.

Click here to see alternate ideas created with the BOTH the October Pining for Plaid & November Back In Plaid Paper Pumpkin kits...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Cut a tree or snowflake image to 1-1/2″ x 1-3/4″ from a banner piece. Add a strip of Cherry Cobbler cardstock to the bottom (use the scraps in the kit for this), and then embellish the front of this treat holder by attaching it with Glue Dots at the top and a strip of foam adhesive at the bottom. Don’t forget to glue on a few star sequins and tie on some twine on the clothespin.

This last card is the “wow” of the three. On the front I stamped the sentiment image on a banner omitting the bottom words so it would fit on the piece. I added the white sequins to the branch piece with Glue Dots to make it look like mistletoe, attached all these kit element pieces as shown,…

…and then decorated the inside with another sprig of mistletoe hanging down from the pop-out section! Yay!

Click here to see alternate ideas created with the BOTH the October Pining for Plaid & November Back In Plaid Paper Pumpkin kits...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

To create this pop-out section, I first cut one of the envelopes in the kit to make two plaid pieces measuring 2-1/4″ x 5″. I scored 3/8″ in on the long right edge of one and 3/8″ in on the long left edge of the other. Then I scored down the middle of one of the circular window pieces. I folded the 3/8″ portions up, and connected the three pieces together (forming an “M” if you look at them from the top). Then after using this connected piece as a guide so I could first stamp the “merry and bright” in the right spot, I attached it to the inside of the card. (Hint: Lay the card base and the connected piece flat to line up the crease in the middle of the circular window piece with the crease in the card base, and then bring in the adhesive to secure the plaid pieces in place.)

Click here to see alternate ideas created with the BOTH the October Pining for Plaid & November Back In Plaid Paper Pumpkin kits...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

The mistletoe on the inside hangs down from just inside the right side of the top of the circular window with a rolled up Glue Dot.

Click here to see alternate ideas created with the BOTH the October Pining for Plaid & November Back In Plaid Paper Pumpkin kits...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

This way it will fold flat when the card is shut.

Then scroll down to see close-up photos and a list of extra supplies I used to make them. (Looking for card ideas? Those will be in my next video shared later this week.)

Pining for Plaid Christmas Tree Mini Note Card & OnStage November 2017

I’m here at OnStage in Salt Lake City and having a blast! Those in our group met up on Wednesday night at Red Rock Brewery for a team dinner. I LOVE these gals!!

OnStage November 2017!...#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Then on Thursday afternoon, OnStage November 2017 began!

OnStage November 2017!...#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

New products from the upcoming Occasions 2017 catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochure were revealed and introduced to us through demonstrations & prizes. AND we have those publications in our hands!! I can’t share yet, but I will soon. I promise!

OnStage November 2017!...#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

That evening demonstrators at the Silver Elite title and above were treated to a grand event called CenterStage which included a beautiful dinner and entertainment.

I can’t share any of the “secret” stuff until Monday afternoon (saving those photos until then), but for now I have a cute project idea to share with you today…

Today is the 10th of the month. That means it’s the last day to sign up or make sure your Paper Pumpkin account is active if you wish to receive the November 2017 kit. AND…we know it’s gonna be adorable because we’ve been told it’s going to coordinate with the October Pining for Plaid kit. I can’t wait!!

I’ve been sharing my alternate project ideas from this October kit (on October 26, October 27, November 7, and November 8). And today I have one more cute idea to share. It’s a mini gift card!

Christmas tree tag/mini card created with the October 2017 “Pining for Plaid” Paper Pumpkin kit!…#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Christmas tree tag/mini card created with the October 2017 “Pining for Plaid” Paper Pumpkin kit!…#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

And it’s actually a teaser of one the exclusive projects that I share with my personal subscribers – projects that I don’t share with anyone else but them. Here are the directions & measurements if you wish to recreate this.

  • Layer up the base pieces of the card:
    • Basic Black Cardstock: 3″ x 6″ folded in half
    • Whisper White Cardstock: 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ for the inside of the card
    • Old Olive Cardstock: 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ for the front of the card
    • Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper: 2-5/8″ x 2-5/8″ for on top of the Old Olive layer
  • To make the tree, die-cut a circle using the Layering Circles Framelits Dies that is 2-7/8″ in diameter. (You can do this tree with any size circle, but this is the size I used.) Then cut it in half.
  • Next place it in the Stampin’ Trimmer with the flat edge at the top and score it so that 2/3 of the semi-circle is on one side of the score line and 1/3 is on the other side. In this case I scored it at just under 2″ (or just under 1″ if looking at it from the other end).

Christmas tree tag/mini card created with the October 2017 “Pining for Plaid” Paper Pumpkin kit!…#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

  • Now create a two more crease marks to create “pie pieces”… that fold each portion in “half” and that both lead to the same point (the crease marks will all meet at the flat edge where the first crease mark originated). Here are two series of photos that may visually help guide you into forming the tree. Either way it’s sort of like fan-folding.

Series 1:

  • Then just secure the folds in place with adhesive (I used Fast Fuse), attach to the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper using Dimensionals, and add a gold star piece from the Metallic Enamel Shapes to the top.
