A Few More With the “World’s Greatest” Kit

Do you need a few more alternate project ideas for the August 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit? The ones I am sharing today were five more samples I sent to Stampin’ Up!® for their latest Facebook Live that aired on September 1st. I had also sent them the blue cake card I featured here on my blog on August 23rd and the accordion display gift album I showed off and blogged about on August 27th. I recommend watching that live to see not only the ideas I submitted, but a whole bunch of other fun alternates shared by my peers.

These first two are sweet & simple-to-make Matchbook RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) Notecards…mini cards that you can leave for someone when you want to thank them, tip them, or just brighten their day to let them know how special they are.

I’m excited to show you a few more alternate project that I came up with using the contents of the August 2020 “World’s Greatest” Paper Pumpkin kit. These five ideas (a flap fold card, two matchbook RAK notecards, another slider window card, and another pop-open cube card) were all featured in Stampin’ Up’s Paper Pumpkin Facebook Live on 9/1/20! Click here to access measurements, directions, more close-up photos, and links to the products I used. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

They close like a matchbook and open to reveal either a sweet handwritten message, cash, or BOTH.

Tips for making the blue one:

  • Cut a blue card base from kit in half to get two 2-3/4″ x 8-1/2″ pieces. Trim 1″ off one end, and score in 5/8″ from the other end.
  • Fold on the two score lines. Staple the bottom narrow 5/8″ section over and down placing that staple in the center of that section. This will allow you to tuck in a folded dollar bill and then fold and tuck the top flap over to close.
  • Then decorate the top with pieces from the kit.

Tips for making the green one:

  • Cut a green card base from kit in quarters to get four 2-1/8″ x 5-1/2″ pieces. Score at 5/8″ and again at 3-1/4″.
  • Fold on the two score lines. Staple the bottom narrow 5/8″ section over and down placing that staple in the center of that section. It’s a smaller notecard, but you can still tuck in a double-folded dollar bill if you wish. Then fold and tuck the top flap over to close.
  • Stamp the inside using the masking technique: Stamp the circular image on scrap paper. Fussy-cut around it to create the “mask.” Stamp the image towards the top of the open flap. Cover the stamp image up with the “mask.” Then stamp two more times just to the lower left and lower right of that first circle. Remove the mask to reveal a layered look.
  • Close then decorate the top with pieces from the kit.

Money isn’t necessary. These matchbook-style RAK cards can simply contain a hand-written message. But aren’t they a cute and unique way to brighten someone’s day?

This next one is a Flap Fold Card. I applied the fun fold I’ve been sharing lately (on 8/19/20, 8/20/20, and 9/5/20) to make this celebratory “You deserve a medal” card.

Measurements:

  • Whisper White Cardstock
    • 5-1/2” x 11” scored parallel to the short end at 5-1/2” then scored again at 1-3/4” from one end and 1-1/4” from the other end
    • 1-1/4″ x 10″
  • Green card base from the kit
    • 3-1/2” x 5-1/2”
    • 1” x 5-1/2”
    • 1” x 5-1/2”
  • Blue card base from the kit
    • 3-1/2” x 5-1/2”
    • 1-1/2” x 5-1/2”
  • Ribbon from the kit
    • 12″
  • Copper Foil Sheet
    • Scrap for die-cutting small scallop circle
  • Silver Foil Sheet
    • Scrap for die-cutting small scallop circle

Directions/Tips:

  • Click here to see the flap fold cards I shared on August 19th (and to watch the how-to video and tips for preparing the card base and adding the patterned paper).
  • Stamp three “hanging medal ribbon” images on the inside: Stamp one 1/8″ from the left and another 1/8″ from the right. Then stamp the third one centered between the first two. I recommend stamping at varying lengths. And to get the light blue color, first stamp the Pacific Point image onto scrap paper. Then without re-inking stamp it onto the card.
  • Die-cut and add the copper and silver scallop circles. Then add the gold scallop circle (from the kit) with Dimensionals after stamping and embossing it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
  • Add the stars with Fine Tip Glue and allow to dry.

  • Close the card and wrap the Whisper White belly band so the seam is in the back. Use Tear & Tape to secure. Trim a “V” into one end of the ribbon. Wrap and add to the belly bandy with Tear & Tape.
  • Use elements from the kit to create the focal point for the band. When attaching to the belly band, add the largest blue circle so it is centered underneath the band.

Folded Face Mask Card/Holder

I received a gift from my friend, Verla Carpenter last week…a face mask holder that she made with Stampin’ Up! products.

Click here to see how I used the Beautiful Autumn Stamp Set, the Autumn Punch Pack, and the Plaid Tidings Designer Paper to make a folded face mask card/holder. (I got this idea by my friend Verla got this idea from Fannyscrap Stampin on YouTube.) I loved it so much! What a great way to give (or even keep and carry) a face mask. She told me she got the idea from Fannyscrap Stampin and then converted the measurements from metric to imperial. So I had to make a few of my own.

So I just showed live on YouTube about an hour ago how I made this folded face mask card/holder using the Beautiful Autumn Stamp Set, the Autumn Punch Pack, and the Plaid Tidings Designer Paper. And now I’m sharing that video here in my blog post. Be sure to watch the video by clicking here (or you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog post), scroll through the close-up photos that follow, check out the measurements & products list below, and then let me know if you have any questions.

I hope you enjoyed what I shared in this video. Below are measurements, close-up photos, and a product list for what I demonstrated. (Please subscribe to my YouTube channel so you can get updates when I share and go live).

My project idea that I’m sharing today is Halloween treat containers. I realized last weekend, that if September is already here, then October isn’t far away. I’m not sure how trick-or-treating will go this year with this pandemic, but I thought it would be good to start getting ready just in case. And these containers are SOOOooo super easy to put together using our new Little Treats Box Dies.

Measurements for the striped box…

  • Whisper White Thick Cardstock
    • 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″
  • Black Glitter Paper (mounted on Foam Adhesive Sheets)
    • Scraps for die-cutting letters
  • Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon
    • 10″

Directions…

  • Stamp the stripes image several times on the die-cut unassembled box. I used full color to get the darkest stripes. The lighter stripes happened when I first stamped on my scrap paper and then stamped on my box. This is called “stamping off.” I stamped off once for the next set of stripes. I stamped off twice for the third set. And I stamped off three times for the fourth set. I rotated and repeated on all four sides. And I didn’t worry about stamping in the sections that wouldn’t be seen when assembled.

  • When I assembled the box, I positioned the connecting tabs this way…so they were NOT inside the box. This creates a smoother “wall” on the inside of your box.
  • I did use a bit of Tear & Tape Adhesive (which you will see in the photos below). But it may not be necessary as the box is pretty steady on its own.

  • I tied the top shut with a bow.
  • And then I die-cut the letters and stuck them on. Gotta love those Foam Adhesive Sheets!

Measurements for the “EEK” box…

  • Magic In This Night Designer Paper
    • 6″ x 6″
  • Cajun Craze Cardstock
    • Scrap for die-cutting scallop circle
  • Black Glitter Paper
    • Scraps for die-cutting letters
  • Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon
    • 10″

Extra Tips…

  • When cutting from a 12″ x 12″ sheet of designer or specialty paper, the box die will cut from a 6″ x 6″ piece if you angle it. That way you can make the most of the paper.
  • You can see in this photo how I secured this box with Tear & Tape.

  • I colored my ribbon with the Cajun Craze Blends Marker. Then after slipping it through the hole, I did an overhand knot to secure it shut. I probably shouldn’t be tying these shut before adding my treat/s. But with my broken toe, I can’t get to the store to buy any Halloween candy (not even sure if it’s available yet). LOL But you get the idea this way. (YES…put the candy/treats in first, THEN tie your bow or knot.)
  • Die-cut your scallop circle and letters. Add the circle with Dimensionals. Add the letters with sponged-on Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

  • This photo shows another way to add the Tear & Tape. Again, this is an optional step, but it will help secure it.

Leaders Summit August 2020 & Gifts

We are in the midst of Stampin’ Up’s Leaders Summit event. As most large events in this crazy year of 2020, the Summit is being held online. Though this August 2020 event was switched from in-person to virtual, it has still been incredibly amazing and full of information, inspiration, motivation and more!

Attendees from all over the world started getting spoiled and excited when gifts began arriving to each one of us. To keep this special gift a surprise to those who were still awaiting theirs, most of us tried not to share what it was until the event began. So now I can reveal it to you. Stampin’ Up! sent each of us a set of two champagne glasses from Tiffany & Co!! And they arrived in a beautiful Tiffany blue box!

Stampin’ Up!’s Leaders Summit 2020. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

What a great way to make us leaders all feel so special. ❤️

My upline (and dear friend), Susan Campfield sent her husband door-to-door the morning of the first day of the event to drop off a gift to each one of us attending. Wow! Right? This made us feel even MORE special. And she personalized mine to include nectarines, dark chocolate and a gluten-free treat. Yay!!

Stampin’ Up!’s Leaders Summit 2020. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

And then it began!…

Leaders Summit kicked off with a Welcome Reception at 2 PM Mountain Time on Thursday, August 27. We were asked to bring one of our glasses as we raised a toast.

Stampin’ Up!’s Leaders Summit 2020. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Because Stampin’ Up! had liked what I had written in a response to an email that had been sent out about a month back, I was picked as one of the presenters for a special Global Top Performers session that followed the Welcome Reception. I was nervous, but very honored. (So I kept my toasting beverage mellow… just water! LOL)

Yesterday was much busier. Friday’s events went from Noon to 8:30 PM Mountain Time with a 1-1/2 hour break for dinner (in my case). Because this event is being held live for demonstrator leaders all over the world, there are many who are getting up in the early hours of their morning or staying up to the wee hours of their night to participate. And some ventured out to stay in hotel rooms with their computers to make it easier to focus and be in the moment of this incredible conference. I’m fortunate that my husband and boys are self-sufficient and okay with me staying in my studio/office while the event is taking place.

Stampin’ Up!’s Leaders Summit 2020. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Plus I really couldn’t have traveled well anyways because of my broken toe. So I’m even more grateful that this event is virtual. In fact, by evening I had moved up to our living room so I could elevate it.

Stampin’ Up!’s Leaders Summit 2020. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

For those of you who missed me telling the story this past Wednesday during my Online Paper Crafter’s class on YouTube, I broke a bone in my fourth toe of my left foot when I wasn’t watching where I was going the evening of August 20th. I ran into the leg of our new couch. 🙁 Here’s the x-ray.

I’m over a week into the healing process and starting to feel better now. Thank you for all your well wishes.

Stampin’ Up!’s Leaders Summit 2020. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

We have one more full day today. I am rested and ready! In fact I’ll be gathering for a Team Online Brunch via Zoom with those in our group in less than an hour! Fun fun fun!!

Oh!… I also wanted to share what I sent to those in my team attending this event with me! I had a few extra bags left from my Blossoms In Bloom Paper Pumpkin Palooza event this past June. They they each got one of those with some little gifts inside.

Be sure to slather on lots of Seal+ Adhesive. Keep the adhesive in the middle first. Then add the 3″ x 9″ Pacific Point piece on top. Today I am sharing place setting and lighting décor ideas for a summer night backyard party which I am planning to do for my family one of these August nights.

Products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.

The kit comes with tealight bags, but I altered mine – spray painted them black just to emphasize the die-cut burst on the front.

I will only be inviting my husband and kids to this Summer 2020 backyard party and I will have extra post cards and envelopes left over. So I sealed a couple envelopes, cut them in half, rolled the strip a bit with my Bone Folder, added some Tear & Tape Adhesive, and made napkin rings.

I embellished them by tying on a 12″ length of Night of Navy Ribbon tied in a bow. And then a slipped the bows through the holes in the mini lanterns.

I wanted to have some useable party favors. And since I’m trying so hard to get my boys to read books more often, I cut a couple post cards in half, rounded the corners and added a ribbon holes with the Detailed Trio Punch, stamped the fun sentiment from the kit on the fronts, and added Coastal Cabana and Purple Posy Ribbon to make bookmarks.

The last thing I made was a fun focal point to decorate the food table. Years ago I purchased a metal Stampin’ Up! logo card display in the shape of a tree. I added a battery-operated string of mini lights, and it is one of my favorite decorative pieces in my office/craft room. Well…I knew it would be perfect for my fireflies. So I marked the centers of the bug abdomens, punched holes in their bottoms using the Label Me Fancy Punch, and simply attached the bugs to the light string so the lights would shine through the holes. To attach I used Glue Dots placed on the back sides – one on each side of the holes. That’s it!

The trickiest part was to punch the holes. Those fireflies are small. So to fit them further inside the punch, I attached the bug heads to a sticky note (Post It® note). This gave me something to grab onto so I could maneuver the bug abdomens better for punching.

Now I’m guessing most of you don’t have this tree. But you could really add those fun mini lights to anything… any potted plant of some sort would work great!
