Jan 2020 I’ll Bee Yours Paper Pumpkin Alternate Ideas

Another awesome monthly kit of creativity…the January 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit! And this one is not just Valentine focused as other January kits have been in the past years. The theme is “love” and the kit includes sentiments and images for weddings, anniversaries, shower, favorite friendships, love and more.

This month’s kit (titled I’ll Bee Yours) included supplies to put together 20 treat bags + 10 mini 3×3 cards and envelopes. And it included the supplies shown below.

The January 2020 I’ll Bee Yours Paper Pumpkin Kit. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out!

I like to think outside the box…see what else I can come up with, and create alternate cards, scrapbook pages and more. So I added the extra supplies in the product list at the bottom of this post to the above kit contents and created my alternate projects that I’m sharing with you today:

  • Two alternate full-size cards
  • And several treat containers

Watch my video first to get to get measurements, directions, and tips (you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog). Scroll down to see close-up photos, access the links that I mentioned in my video, and see a list of extra supplies (linked to my online store) that I used to make my creations. Then be sure to visit my blog again soon, because I have many more alternate projects that I’ll be sharing soon. 😁

Here are the projects the kit instructs how to make.

Maui Achievers Blog Hop Jan ’20: Spotlight on Forever Blossoms

Welcome to the January 2020 Maui Achievers Blog Hop! I’m sharing a few versions of the same card today, and I’d love to know which one is your favorite.

Maui Achievers Blog Hop! - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Follow along and check out all the other blogs in the hop (click on the names of the participants in the list below my signature) so you can see some fabulous cards and projects created by other demonstrators who also earned the Stampin’ Up!® Maui incentive trip coming up in July of 2020.

I made each of my cards all with the same base set of supplies including one of my favorite new stamp sets that just debuted in the 2020 Spring Catalog, Forever Blossoms. (See below for a complete list of products I used in these cards linked to where you can find them in my online store.) I’ll share the base measurements, and then I’ll give tips for each card so you can then recreate any of them if you so desire.

Measurements…

  • Basic Black Cardstock
    • 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” scored parallel to the short edge at 4-1/4”
    • Scrap that is at least 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ for optional layer (each of my cards has a slightly different size layer)
  • Shimmery White Cardstock
    • 4″ x 5-1/4″
    • 4″ x 2-3/4″ (for the inside)
    • 4″ x 1/2″ strip
  • Ribbon (Mint Macaron 1/8″ Sheer Linen or Petal Pink Metallic-Edge)
    • up to 7″

Let’s start with this one and call it card #1

Click here to get the directions, measurements and supplies AND to see other great ideas shared by fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrators who also earned this fabulous incentive trip taking place in July 2020! - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I stamped my image on the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Shimmery White piece. And then I trimmed in 1-1/8″ on all four sides to remove the center. I colored that center piece using my Blender Pen and ink from the lid of my ink pads, and mounted it onto my scrap Basic Black that I trimmed to 2″ x 3-1/4″. On this card my sentiment strip (which I trimmed down to fit better) is attached with SNAIL on the left and a Dimensional on the right. My bow on the left I added with a Glue Dot. And the 4″ x 2-3/4″ Shimmery White is just added to the inside (most of my cards are like that on the inside).

This one is card #2

I colored the whole image this time BEFORE cutting. And then I trimmed in 1″ on all four sides to remove the center. I colored that center piece using my Blender Pen and ink from the lid of my ink pads but this time with a little lighter touch. I mounted it onto my scrap Basic Black that I trimmed to 2-1/4″ x 3-1/2″. My sentiment strip is attached with Dimensionals on the right and the left. Then I just tied a knot and added it with a Glue Dot in the lower right.

This is card #3

I stamped my image on the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Shimmery White piece. And then I punched a portion out with my 2″ Circle Punch. I colored that piece using my Blender Pen and Watercolor Pencils, and mounted it onto a 2-1/4″ Basic Black Circle. Because my circle was off to the left a bit, I added my sentiment strip (which I trimmed down) is attached with Dimensionals coming in from the right. My bow is added with a Glue Dot. And I embellished the three colored flower centers with Champagne Rhinestones.

This is card #4

I stamped my image on the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Shimmery White piece. And then I removed the middle with the 1-7/8″ x 3-3/16″ Stitched Rectangle Die and colored that piece using my Blender Pen and ink from the lid of my ink pads. I mounted this onto a 2″ x 3-3/8″ Basic Black piece. And I attached my bow in the lower right with a Glue Dot.

I did something a little different for the inside of this card, though. I thought this was a fun place to add my sentiment strip.

I’m not a fan of this one because I messed up on the watercoloring. hahaha! For this card I stamped my image on the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Shimmery White piece, but I didn’t remove the center to do any spotlighting. Then I colored across the whole piece using my Aqua Painter and ink from the lid of my ink pads. I attached two strips of my ribbon coming from the top right and lower right areas of my sentiment, attached the strip with a Dimensional under the left and Glue Dots under the right and trimmed off the excess before attaching it to my Basic Black card base. I finished it by adding Champagne Rhinestones to the four flower centers.

I’m curious…which one do YOU like the best?

Have fun on the hop! And enjoy seeing all those inspiring ideas made by fellow trip achievers!

Label Me Punches with Pressed Petals

I have to apologize to my club members. I sent one of the cards I’m featuring today to each of them for their December orders and had promised to share it on my blog on January 9th. Here is the note I enclosed.

But things got shifted around, and I’m sharing the card (and other versions) today.

Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Measurements…

  • Rococo Rose Cardstock
    • 11″ x 4-1/4″ scored parallel to the short side at 5-1/2″
  • Mossy Meadow Cardstock
    • 5-1/4″ x 4″ (you will punch 1-3/8″ Scallop Circle from this layer)
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock
    • 5-1/4″ x 4″
    • Scraps for stamping and punching
  • Pressed Petals Designer Paper
    • 5-1/8″″ x 3-7/8″
  • Rococo Rose Gathered Ribbon
    • 13″

Tips

  • Punch the two Label Me Punch shapes from the scraps of Very Vanilla. But remember to stamp sentiment before punching the smaller one. Use the punch upside-down so you can line up the image inside the punch.
  • Stamp off onto scrap paper to lighten ink before stamping leaves image onto inside Very Vanilla layer. Stamp before attaching to the inside of the card. That way if you make a mistake, you can flip the cardstock over and try again.

  • Punch 1-3/8″ Scallop Circle from the Mossy Meadow Cardstock layer.
  • Assemble in this order…
    • Adhere designer paper to Mossy Meadow cardstock.
    • Tie ribbon around and tie a knot off the the right (trim the ends).
    • Slide larger Label Me punched piece under the ribbon and adhere.
    • Attach smaller Label Me punched sentiment piece to Mossy Meadow Scallop Circle, then add to above the other label on top of ribbon with Dimensionals.
    • Add a Heart Epoxy Droplet.

I gifted some product to a few club members, so I thought it would be fun to share lots of ways for them to use that product. 😃And here is what else I created. Extra products for these cards are listed separately below.

Poppy Moments Valentines

There is a new Mini Trimmer!! And guess what?! You can create full-size cards with it using a few simple tricks. So on Tuesday during my Online Paper Crafting Class on Facebook, I shared how to use this Mini Trimmer!) and I created a pair of Valentine cards featuring some fun new designer paper and the Peaceful Moments bundle (the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set and Poppy Moments Dies).

I uploaded the recorded version of my Facebook Live video to my YouTube channel (since I know not everyone is ON Facebook). And then I was able to share it here in my blog post. Be sure to watch the video (you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog), scroll through the close-up photos, check out the products list below, and then let me know if you have any questions.

I hope you enjoyed what I shared in this video. Below are measurements, close-up photos, and a product list for the cards that I demonstrated.

Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Measurements for the pair of cards

  • Granny Apple Green Cardstock
    • 4-1/4” x 8” scored parallel to short end at 5-1/2”
OR with Mini Trimmer…fold 8-1/2” x 11” halfway at 5-1/2”, cut in half at 4-1/4”, then open up and trim off 3” from one end
  • Petal Pink Cardstock
    • 4-1/4” x 8” scored parallel to short end at 5-1/2”
OR with Mini Trimmer…fold 8-1/2” x 11” halfway at 5-1/2”, cut in half at 4-1/4”, then open up and trim off 3” from one end
    • Scraps for die-cutting little pieces
  • Lovely Lipstick Cardstock
    • 4-1/2” x 3-1/4” (two pieces)
OR with Mini Trimmer… fold 8-1/2” x 11” halfway at 5-1/2”, use template to cut at 4-1/2”, then open up and trim off 3-1/4” from each end
  • Whisper White Cardstock
    • 4-1/4”x 3” (two pieces)
OR with Mini Trimmer…fold 8-1/2” x 11” halfway at 5-1/2”, cut in half at 4-1/4”, then open up and trim off 3” from each end
  • Assorted 6×6 Designer Paper (free with Starter Kit order) – All Dressed Up DSP floral pattern
    • 3” x 3” (two pieces)
  • Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon
    • 14” and 12”

After I was done cutting the cardstock for those two cards, here is what I ended up with: 4 more folded card bases, and the small scraps of Lovely Lipstick and Whisper White. So there really wasn’t that much “waste” because these are all very usable pieces.

Kerchief Card Kit Variations

There are so many fun free picks from the Sale-a-Bration publication this year. One of my favorite items that you can get with a $50 order is the Kerchief Card Kit. This kit makes 4 of each of these cards (8 cards total).

I tripled the cards in the Kerchief Card Kit (one of the free level 1 picks from the 2020 Sale-a-Bration brochure). I also made cute treat holders and shared all of these ideas during my Facebook live broadcast. You’ll be able to watch my video so you can see all my tips and tricks and get the step-by-step directions. I played around with this kit to make some adorable treat holders (inspired by a project in the January Tutorial Bundle) and then I added a bit of extra cardstock so I could expand how many cards I could get from this all-inclusive kit. I love what I came up with!

So on Wednesday during my Online Paper Crafting Class on Facebook, I shared how I made all these items (AND shared tips for using the new Mini Trimmer!). I uploaded the recorded version of my Facebook Live video to my YouTube channel (since I know not everyone is ON Facebook). And then I was able to share it here in my blog post. Be sure to watch the video (you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog), scroll through the close-up photos, check out the products list below the photos, and then let me know if you have any questions.

I hope you enjoyed what I shared in this video. Did you notice that I completely forgot to stamp my sentiment in my treat holder? Ooops! 😆Below are measurements, close-up photos, and a product list for the cards and treat holders that I demonstrated.

Another Pyramid Card & Bookmark Subscriber Gifts

Two more ideas for all of you who received the Something for Everything December 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit

I love the challenge each month of coming up with my final project design (a gift for 5 of my lucky subscribers) using my leftovers from what I’ve already created with my kit. And as you may guess from what I’ve made and shared already on December 21 and January 2, there weren’t that many supplies left over from my kit. But I did it!

I used the polka-dot pattern on the envelope flaps and the green circle stickers to punch out 5 pair of snowmen I needed 2 snowmen per project because they are back to back sandwiching the ribbon to make these bookworm bookmarks.

I created an adorable bookworm bookmark and holder with the December 2019 Something for Everything Paper Pumpkin kit. I designed it to send to a few of my Paper Pumpkin subscribers. I also created another pyramid card from this kit. Click here for more photos, directions, measurements and supplies. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Here is the bookworm being used in my Outlander book. Can you see the snowman shape upside down in the body of the bookworm? I made and shared a version of these in my last Facebook Live on December 22nd. Below are the measurements and directions for making these bookmarks and holders with the Something for Everything kit supplies.

Products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Measurements…

  • Whisper White Thick Cardstock
    • 2-1/4” x 8-1/2″
    • Scrap for punching Starburst for sentiment piece
  • Basic Black Cardstock
    • Scrap for punching 2-1/4″ Circle for sentiment layer
  • Kit envelope flaps or circle stickers
    • Scraps for punching two snowman shapes
  • Kit gold sticker sheets
    • Scrap for punching heart from the Dog Builder Punch
    • 1/8″ x 2-1/4″ strip
  • Kit card base
    • 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″
  • Gold Metallic-Edge Ribbon, Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon, or Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon
    • 12″

Directions…

  • Punch two snowmen. (To get two from one circle sticker, cut the sticker in half equally. Then use a sticky note to guide them into the punch. This will help you to fit them in that amount of space better.)

  • Connect them together back-to-back using Tear & Tape Adhesive while sandwiching one end of the ribbon between.
  • Color small black circles in the centers of two large pearls to create eyes. Draw on the mouth and stick on the eyes to make the face for your bookworm.
  • Position the bookworm towards the top of the 2-1/4″ x 8-1/2″ Whisper White base. Then attach (with two Glue Dots on the outer edges) the Basic Black 2-1/4″ Circle so it becomes a pocket for the worm’s body. Then fold up the ribbon and attach (with Tear & Tape Adhesive along the outer edges) the bottom 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ card base piece so it becomes a pocket for the trailing ribbon.
  • Add the stamped sentiment, the gold heart, and the gold strip.

Here is the original one I made (and sent to Stampin’ Up! for their December 2019 kit Facebook Live).

My second project is another pyramid card.

I shared the first one (on the right in the photo above) along with other alternate projects in a how-to video on December 21st. Click here to see that video and more photos of that card.

I didn’t list directions here for making this type of card since this card is better explained in a video. But because this green card is a little different, I’ve listed a couple tips to finish off this version of this card. You can also see this card shared in Stampin’ Up!’s December 2019 kit Facebook Live. Below are views of all the sides when the card is assembled.

Here are the details if you wish to recreate this.

Products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Measurements…

  • Polka-dot yellow card base from the kit
    • 4″ x 4″ polka-dot yellow piece
  • Striped green card base from the kit
    • 4″ x 4″ solid green piece
    • 4″ x 4″ striped green piece

Extra Tips…

  • Watch the how-to video that I shared on December 21, 2019 for directions for assembling the base of this card.
  • Stamp off to get a lighter Terracotta Tile Orange ink for the trailing flowers.
  • Attach the sentiment piece with a Dimensional under the left edge and a Glue Dot under the right. Trim up the excess AFTER adding to the card.
  • Use an Embossing Buddy to get the “sticky” off the back of the flower and leaf stickers if you wish to raise them up onto Dimensionals. On my card my left flower and both leaves are up on Dimensionals.
