Flamingo Vertical Bendi Fun Fold Card

Here is a card I’ve been dying to show you for some time! It’s a vertical bendi card. You may have seen the horizontal version of this type of card before, but I wanted mine to be vertical so I could fit in these images. So I came up with some measurements that work great.

I made three versions. The difference?…the embellishments. These two feature the Rhinestones and the White Perfect Accents.

Use the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set and the Stampin’ Blends markers to create these fun Bendi Cards…#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I finally got a chance to create this Facebook Live how-to video this past Wednesday and upload it to my YouTube channel (since I know not everyone is ON Facebook).. This would’ve been a little complicated to explain just with words. So be sure to watch the video, check out the measurements below so that you can recreate this card (or one similar) if you wish, and then let me know if you have any questions. If you ARE on Facebook, I invite you to “like” then “follow” my page so you can get updates when I share and when I go live every Wednesday afternoon at 2 PM Central Time.

Here are the measurements you’ll need if you plan to recreate this card.

  • Whisper White Thick cardstock: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
    • To cut slit, line up left edge at the 2-3/4” mark. Then slice from 5-1/4” up to the 3-1/2” spot. (Your slit should be 1-3/4” long.)
  • Lemon Lime Twist cardstock: 4-1/4” x 2-1/4”
    • To cut slit, line up left edge at the 2-1/2” mark. Then slice from 2” up to the 1-1/4” spot. (Your slit should be 3/4” long.)
    • Score each end in ½”
  • Bermuda Bay cardstock: 4-1/4” x 1-1/4”
    • Score each end in ½”

And here are a few more close-up photos.

Product List… things you might need/want in addition to the December 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit to make any or all of the projects in the videos

  • pencil
  • treat to put in fish-shaped treat holder

*** Sale-a-Bration is the best time to purchase prepaid subscriptions  because you get perks…
You get a Sale-a-Bration item for every $50 you spend in ADDITION to the savings with the 6 and 12-month prepaids. Many dedicated subscribers purchase their 12-month prepaids at this time of year. And not to worry if your subscription is automatic and you already have a credit card in the system. The code that you will get after purchasing your prepaid (once added into your account) will override your credit card each month for the time frame of your prepaid. Your card won’t get charged during that time period. EVERYONE can take advantage of Paper Pumpkin prepaids! So I encourage you to consider purchasing a prepaid that during Sale-a-Bration.
You can get free Sale-A-Bration items with a 3, 6 or 12-month prepaid. You always save money on the 6 and 12-month ones, but from January 3 – March 31, you can earn freebies. You just pay the additional $6.95 shipping if there is nothing else you are adding to your prepaid order. So if you get a 12 month prepaid, you’d pay $215 plus tax. And then you’d get 4 SAB items and $21.50 in stampin’ rewards (free items of your choice) for the additional $6.95 shipping. If you added other merchandise to your prepaid order, the shipping costs could change. So if you ordered a 3-month for $59 US and then added another $91 in product, then you’d pay $59 + tax and $91 + $9.10 s/h + tax and you’d get 3 SAB items because you have $150 in merchandise, AND you’d get $15 in free merchandise. If you only purchased a $59 3-month prepaid, you’d get to choose one SAB item and pay the additional $6.95 shipping. Every order in the US has a minimum $6.95 shipping if there is product other than the Paper Pumpkin prepaids included in it.
And if you are purchasing the 12-month, I would recommend bumping the order to $250. Then you would get an extra $25 free so a total $50 free plus 5 Sale-A-Bration items!

Coffee Café Peeking Gate Fold Card

This was such a fun card to make! I used the charming Coffee Café stamp set, Stampin’ Blends (our new alcohol-based markers), and pretty designer papers. (All supplies are listed/shown below and linked to my online store.)

Coffee Café Peeking Gate Fold Card colored in with the new Stampin’ Blends alcohol-based markers...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

First I chose a designer paper pattern from my stash that worked with the coffee cup image. Then I used that designer paper to come up with the color combination for the cardstock and Blends markers.

Here are the measurements for the pieces with this card:

  • Cajun Craze cardstock: 8-1/2″ x 11″ scored in from each end at 1/2″ and at 2-1/8″ and scrap for cup sleeve
  • Pool Party cardstock: 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Basic Black cardstock: 2-7/8″ x 4-1/8″
  • Whisper White cardstock: 2-3/4″ x 4″
  • Whole Lot of Lovely designer paper (orange floral sheet): two pieces that are 1-3/8″ x 5-1/4″
  • Pool Party Shimmer ribbon: ~3-1/4″

And here are a couple tips:

  • Die-cut the cup sleeve piece and set aside.
  • Stamp onto the Whisper White cardstock. Then color. When coloring the cup use the light Calypso Coral Blend first over the top and bottom areas (no need to color the middle since that will get covered up). Then use the dark Calypso Coral Blend on the left and right edges and come in again with the light Calypso Coral Blend one more time to work the dark color in. Lastly use the light Pool Party Blend to accent the edges of the whipped cream.
  • Color a few Rhinestones with the dark Old Olive Blend while they are still on the Rhinestone sheet. Then transfer them to the Whisper White cardstock and stick them where they look best.
  • Tie a knot in the middle of the ribbon and wrap the ends around the die-cut/embossed cup sleeve piece. Attach the ends of the ribbon to the back with Fast Fuse adhesive. Then attach this to the cup.
  • Add the white cardstock layer to the black and set aside.
  • Use a Bone Folder to make the folds of the card base piece crisp.
  • Attach the designer paper so the best part of the design is more towards the outer edge.
  • Then attach the cup layer to the left 1/2″ folded over flap of the Cajun Craze card base using Fast Fuse adhesive.

This view of another version of this card (using Soft Suede cardstock, Crushed Curry ribbon, and other Blends colors on the cup layer) shows that you don’t want to put any Fast Fuse adhesive on the right 1/2″ folded over flap.

I ran out of Soft Suede (because I mass produced this card as one of my OnStage swaps). So I made a few using Tranquil Tide cardstock for the card base.

And when I ran out of the Whole Lot of Lovely designer paper, I brought in a sheet from the Delightful Daisy collection of papers. I went back to the Cajun Craze card base, Calypso Coral Blends, and Pool Party ribbon. But I changed out the Basic Black layer with Night of Navy.

Pining for Plaid Meets Back in Plaid

I combined elements from both the October and November “made-to-coordinate” Paper Pumpkin kits and came up with these alternate ideas that I’m super excited to share with you today.

This first card is pretty straight forward. I cut each banner in two, embossed the word “joy” on the blank one, and added them to the card front popping the bottom of each image piece up on Dimensionals.

This second card has a fun surprise inside…

…a pop-up snowflake!

For the pop-up section, I scored this large circle window piece so the circular area folded in half.

Then after folding, I scored again (on both sides) so that I had areas to put adhesive on to secure this piece to the inside of the card. (See the ruler in the images for where to score)

I inserted and adhered a window sheet, attached this pop-up piece in the crease area of the inside of the card, covered the ends with Cherry Cobbler Cardstock layers, and then added two punched-out snowflakes on the front and back of the window sheet.

I stamped the snowflakes and sentiments. And then the rest I just assembled as shown.

This third one, my moon card is my favorite, because it’s just so different from the rest of them.

I sponged one of the circular frame pieces and the circle that punches out in Dapper Denim ink. I made the outside edges darker by sponging them with even more ink. This way the moon appears to be casting a glow in the night sky! 😉

I then attached the circle behind the frame piece to create a “crescent moon” window making sure the stitched embossed lines matched up. After attaching these pieces to the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper layer with Glue Dots,…

…I added branches to the front (to give the appearance of a tree protruding in) so they discretely concealed the area of overlap.

To give the tree branches a more realistic look I curled a few of the leaves with a Bone Folder. Fun, huh!?

Come see what I share on my blog… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

The last three projects are ones I created with ONLY kit products – no added embellishments, cardstock, punches, dies, ink… I only used my snips & trimmer. OH! And a little Fine Tip Glue to attach a few star sequins. My challenge was to use ONLY what came in the kit. These projects were featured along with others made my a couple fellow demonstrators during a live broadcast on Facebook on November 21st. Click here and here to view the live broadcast.

For this first one I turned one of the stockings into a hat by trimming off the toe area of a stocking and tying it up with some twine.

It’s the perfect treat holder and would be great as small gift to a co-worker or to decorate a place setting at a holiday dinner gathering.

These adorable Hershey Nugget holders below are super simple to make. To make one just cut one of the plaid card base pieces to 1-3/4″ x 8-1/2″. There will be a crease in the middle, but don’t fold it. Instead use your trimmer to add two more score lines parallel to and a 1/2″ away from each side of the middle crease. Fold on those creases.

Glue Dot a Hershey Nugget to the bottom inside middle area, stamp the “to/from” image, fold up and clip with a mini clothes pin.

Cut a tree or snowflake image to 1-1/2″ x 1-3/4″ from a banner piece. Add a strip of Cherry Cobbler cardstock to the bottom (use the scraps in the kit for this), and then embellish the front of this treat holder by attaching it with Glue Dots at the top and a strip of foam adhesive at the bottom. Don’t forget to glue on a few star sequins and tie on some twine on the clothespin.

This last card is the “wow” of the three. On the front I stamped the sentiment image on a banner omitting the bottom words so it would fit on the piece. I added the white sequins to the branch piece with Glue Dots to make it look like mistletoe, attached all these kit element pieces as shown,…

…and then decorated the inside with another sprig of mistletoe hanging down from the pop-out section! Yay!

Click here to see alternate ideas created with the BOTH the October Pining for Plaid & November Back In Plaid Paper Pumpkin kits...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

To create this pop-out section, I first cut one of the envelopes in the kit to make two plaid pieces measuring 2-1/4″ x 5″. I scored 3/8″ in on the long right edge of one and 3/8″ in on the long left edge of the other. Then I scored down the middle of one of the circular window pieces. I folded the 3/8″ portions up, and connected the three pieces together (forming an “M” if you look at them from the top). Then after using this connected piece as a guide so I could first stamp the “merry and bright” in the right spot, I attached it to the inside of the card. (Hint: Lay the card base and the connected piece flat to line up the crease in the middle of the circular window piece with the crease in the card base, and then bring in the adhesive to secure the plaid pieces in place.)

The mistletoe on the inside hangs down from just inside the right side of the top of the circular window with a rolled up Glue Dot.

This way it will fold flat when the card is shut.

Music-Themed Gift Box In A Card

My favorite products in the Holiday Catalog are the music-themed ones: the Musical Season Stamp Set, the Musical Instruments Framelits Dies, and the Merry Music Specialty Designer Paper. I’ve played around and created with them quite a lot. And the project I’d like to share today is another Gift Box In A Card, because they are just so stinkin’ cute AND they are easy to make.

CLICK HERE to see my how-to video for how to make the Gift Card in a Box that I shared on September 14th. These directions will help guide you into making today’s project.

(Note that after cutting out the top 2″ square portion from the top of the card as shown in the directions in the video, I flipped the card base around and decorated the other side as the front instead. So my box is situated on the left this time.)

Here are the dimensions for the décor pieces on the front of this card:

  • Merry Music designer paper: 1-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
  • Garden Green cardstock: 7/8″ x 5-1/2″
  • Red Glimmer paper: 3/4″ x 5-1/2″ and scraps for die-cutting the instrument shapes
  • Whisper White cardstock: 5/8″ x 5-1/2″ and scraps for stamping and die-cutting the string instruments

I decorated the top of the box with a Green Sprig that I had dipped in Embossing Paste (see the list of supplies for this card below), sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, and tied with Real Red Mini Tinsel Trim.

After it dried, I used a big dollop of Fine Tip liquid glue to get the sprig to attach to the top of the box.

One last tip…use Glue Dots to attach cardstock to the Glimmer Paper. Other adhesives don’t work as well.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project! Thanks for stopping by.
