5 Different Cards from One Fold

I was looking around on Pinterest for inspiration and came across a card by Patty Bennett. She used a long piece of Ornate Garden Designer Paper folded in 3 places to make an accordion style fun fold card. So I clicked on the pinned idea and it took me to her blog post where she shared how versatile this basic fold can be. I was reminded with one of her variations that I HAD indeed used this same fold in past cards I’ve made, too.

Patty showed that you can get four card variations from that folded designer paper, but I thought of one more. And I just showed these variations live on YouTube about an hour ago. (I used the Christmastime is Here Designer Paper, the Butterfly Wishes Stamp Set, the Sweetest Borders Dies, and All The Trimmings Ribbon, and the Wonderful Gems for the first card. And I used the Healing Hugs Stamp Set and Ornate Borders Dies for the second one.) And now I’m sharing that video here in my blog post. Be sure to watch the video by clicking here (or you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog post), scroll through the close-up photos that follow, check out the measurements & products list below, and then let me know if you have any questions.

I hope you enjoyed what I shared in this video. Below are measurements, close-up photos, and a product list for what I demonstrated. (Please subscribe to my YouTube channel so you can get updates when I share and go live).

Boho Indigo CASE Of Forever Greenery

I recently received this beautiful card from my friend Cheryl Lee. She made it with several products from the Forever Greenery Suite and the “thank you” image from the Magnolia Blooms Stamp Set (a retired stamp set).

I loved the look and the layout so much that I recreated it and made a couple navy and white versions by substituting in a few products from the Boho Indigo Medley. This is the first one. And below the directions is the second one. I’d love to know which one appeals to you more. I made the one with the gray circle first. But after making the second one with the white circle, I think that one is my favorite.

Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Measurements…

  • Night of Navy Cardstock
    • 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ scored parallel to short end at 4-1/4″
    • Scraps for die-cutting a couple branch pieces
  • Misty Moonlight Cardstock
    • Scrap for die-cutting a branch piece
  • Boho Indigo Designer Paper
    • 1-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
  • Whisper White Cardstock
    • 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Outer cardstock layer (Smoky Slate or Whisper White Cardstock)
    • 3″ x 5-1/2″
  • Circular piece (Smoky Slate or Whisper White Cardstock)
    • Scrap for die-cutting 2-3/8″ diameter Stitched Shapes circle
  • Forever Trim (Gold Metallic Trim)
    • 6″

Directions…

  • Emboss the outer cardstock layer with the Greenery Embossing Folder. Then die-cut the branch pieces with the dies in the Boho Indigo Medley and the stitched circular sentiment piece.
  • Stamp the sentiment on the circular piece. Then adhere the Gold Hoop with Fine Tip Glue. Set aside to dry.
  • Stamp the inside image on the 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ Whisper White piece. (I first stamped on scrap paper and then onto the cardstock. This way I got a lighter shade of blue.)
  • Attach the rectangular layers to the Night of Navy card base.
  • After the Fine Tip Glue is dry, flip the sentiment circle over and add a bit of Seal Adhesive behind that upper left area. Add a leaf piece from the Forever Gold Laser Cut Paper and the two blue die-cut branch pieces. Then place quite a few Dimensionals across the back of the left portion of that circle securing those embellishments and attaching this focal point to the front of the card.
  • Use Glue Dots to add the horizonal navy branch and the gold bow.
  • Embellish with Gold Glitter Enamel Dots or the flowers from the medley.

A Few More With the “World’s Greatest” Kit

Do you need a few more alternate project ideas for the August 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit? The ones I am sharing today were five more samples I sent to Stampin’ Up!® for their latest Facebook Live that aired on September 1st. I had also sent them the blue cake card I featured here on my blog on August 23rd and the accordion display gift album I showed off and blogged about on August 27th. I recommend watching that live to see not only the ideas I submitted, but a whole bunch of other fun alternates shared by my peers.

These first two are sweet & simple-to-make Matchbook RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) Notecards…mini cards that you can leave for someone when you want to thank them, tip them, or just brighten their day to let them know how special they are.

I’m excited to show you a few more alternate project that I came up with using the contents of the August 2020 “World’s Greatest” Paper Pumpkin kit. These five ideas (a flap fold card, two matchbook RAK notecards, another slider window card, and another pop-open cube card) were all featured in Stampin’ Up’s Paper Pumpkin Facebook Live on 9/1/20! Click here to access measurements, directions, more close-up photos, and links to the products I used. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

They close like a matchbook and open to reveal either a sweet handwritten message, cash, or BOTH.

Tips for making the blue one:

  • Cut a blue card base from kit in half to get two 2-3/4″ x 8-1/2″ pieces. Trim 1″ off one end, and score in 5/8″ from the other end.
  • Fold on the two score lines. Staple the bottom narrow 5/8″ section over and down placing that staple in the center of that section. This will allow you to tuck in a folded dollar bill and then fold and tuck the top flap over to close.
  • Then decorate the top with pieces from the kit.

Tips for making the green one:

  • Cut a green card base from kit in quarters to get four 2-1/8″ x 5-1/2″ pieces. Score at 5/8″ and again at 3-1/4″.
  • Fold on the two score lines. Staple the bottom narrow 5/8″ section over and down placing that staple in the center of that section. It’s a smaller notecard, but you can still tuck in a double-folded dollar bill if you wish. Then fold and tuck the top flap over to close.
  • Stamp the inside using the masking technique: Stamp the circular image on scrap paper. Fussy-cut around it to create the “mask.” Stamp the image towards the top of the open flap. Cover the stamp image up with the “mask.” Then stamp two more times just to the lower left and lower right of that first circle. Remove the mask to reveal a layered look.
  • Close then decorate the top with pieces from the kit.

Money isn’t necessary. These matchbook-style RAK cards can simply contain a hand-written message. But aren’t they a cute and unique way to brighten someone’s day?

This next one is a Flap Fold Card. I applied the fun fold I’ve been sharing lately (on 8/19/20, 8/20/20, and 9/5/20) to make this celebratory “You deserve a medal” card.

Measurements:

  • Whisper White Cardstock
    • 5-1/2” x 11” scored parallel to the short end at 5-1/2” then scored again at 1-3/4” from one end and 1-1/4” from the other end
    • 1-1/4″ x 10″
  • Green card base from the kit
    • 3-1/2” x 5-1/2”
    • 1” x 5-1/2”
    • 1” x 5-1/2”
  • Blue card base from the kit
    • 3-1/2” x 5-1/2”
    • 1-1/2” x 5-1/2”
  • Ribbon from the kit
    • 12″
  • Copper Foil Sheet
    • Scrap for die-cutting small scallop circle
  • Silver Foil Sheet
    • Scrap for die-cutting small scallop circle

Directions/Tips:

  • Click here to see the flap fold cards I shared on August 19th (and to watch the how-to video and tips for preparing the card base and adding the patterned paper).
  • Stamp three “hanging medal ribbon” images on the inside: Stamp one 1/8″ from the left and another 1/8″ from the right. Then stamp the third one centered between the first two. I recommend stamping at varying lengths. And to get the light blue color, first stamp the Pacific Point image onto scrap paper. Then without re-inking stamp it onto the card.
  • Die-cut and add the copper and silver scallop circles. Then add the gold scallop circle (from the kit) with Dimensionals after stamping and embossing it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
  • Add the stars with Fine Tip Glue and allow to dry.

  • Close the card and wrap the Whisper White belly band so the seam is in the back. Use Tear & Tape to secure. Trim a “V” into one end of the ribbon. Wrap and add to the belly bandy with Tear & Tape.
  • Use elements from the kit to create the focal point for the band. When attaching to the belly band, add the largest blue circle so it is centered underneath the band.

Folded Face Mask Card/Holder

I received a gift from my friend, Verla Carpenter last week…a face mask holder that she made with Stampin’ Up! products.

Click here to see how I used the Beautiful Autumn Stamp Set, the Autumn Punch Pack, and the Plaid Tidings Designer Paper to make a folded face mask card/holder. (I got this idea by my friend Verla got this idea from Fannyscrap Stampin on YouTube.) You’ll be able to access measurements, the how-to video, other close-up photos, and links to the products I used. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I loved it so much! What a great way to give (or even keep and carry) a face mask. She told me she got the idea from Fannyscrap Stampin and then converted the measurements from metric to imperial. So I had to make a few of my own.

So I just showed live on YouTube about an hour ago how I made this folded face mask card/holder using the Beautiful Autumn Stamp Set, the Autumn Punch Pack, and the Plaid Tidings Designer Paper. And now I’m sharing that video here in my blog post.

Playing With Patterns Flap Fold

Once I start creating with a suite of products (or a certain fold), I have a hard time putting it aside. Today’s cards are more flap fold cards like the ones I shared on August 19th and August 20th. But they are made with the designer papers, stamps and ribbons from the Playing with Patterns Suite – the suite that is featured in the latest All Star Tutorial (that you can earn this month or purchase), that I used to make my Halloween treat containers in the All Star blog hop in my September 3rd post, and that Tricia Josephs created with in her Showcase Stamper projects that I shared on August 2nd.

Below are my Playing with Patterns flap fold birthday cards – a little different than the other two flap folds I’ve shared in that these are positioned in landscape format.

Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.

This first one is my favorite because I LOVE the Coastal Cabana blue color & the ribbon in this combo pack is stunning!

You’ll be able to access measurements, directions, other close-up photos, and links to the products I used. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Measurements…

  • Coastal Cabana Cardstock
    • 5-1/2” x 11” scored parallel to the short end at 5-1/2” then scored again at 1-3/4” from one end and 1-1/4” from the other end
  • Playing With Patterns Designer Paper (thicker stripes)
    • 3-1/2” x 5-1/2”

  • Playing With Patterns Designer Paper (diagonal stripes)
    • 3-1/2” x 5-1/2”
    • 1-1/2” x 5-1/2”
  • Whisper White Cardstock
    • 4” x 5-1/2”
    • Scrap for stamping and punching 2-1/4″ Circle
  • Playing With Patterns Ribbon Combo Pack (Coastal Cabana)

  • Stamp and punch the sentiment circle piece. Stamp the 4″ x 5-1/2″ Whisper White piece.
  • Attach the 2″ ribbon pieces to the 4″ x 5-1/2″ Whisper White piece (coming out from behind the upper right corner), and attach to the inside of the card.
  • Trim the ribbon ends and add the Resin Dots.

OH! Here is what the flip side of the open card looks like. Notice that I stamped the fun sparkle image at the top of the circle sentiment piece. You don’t see this when the card is closed. Sorry I forgot to mention that above.

And here is the Calypso Coral version. I did the ribbon a bit differently on this one because I wanted to use the thin Night of Navy Ribbon in that combo pack, but it was to flimsy to tie the card shut on its own. I’m not sure I’m a fan of how I used it. But oh well. What do you think?

Hallows Night Angled Pocket Card

The new Magic In This Night Suite is an amazing Halloween-themed set of products. BUT…if you look closer, many of the products could be used to create projects and cards beyond Halloween. I focused on this suite when I decided to make a fun fold card that could hold a bookmark. My husband loves to watch scary movies and read scary books. (I’m total opposite.) His birthday is coming up, so he was on my mind when I created one of these cards. Then I made a second version of this card that didn’t have anything scary at all on it. Both of them were designed using this suite.

I just showed live on YouTube about an hour ago how I made this fun fold card using the Hollows Night Stamp Set, the Halloween Magic Dies, the Magic In This Night Designer Paper, & some Iridescent Pearls along with some other coordinating products. And now I’m sharing that video here in my blog post.
