Two Charming Note Pad & Pen Holders

I was invited to fellow demonstrator Michelle Carlson’s team event and she led us all in this fun make & take project…a note pad and pen holder. I used the papers and products I had on hand and chose the beautiful Lights of Aurora Designer Paper & coordinating Light & Wonder Dies. (These products are both on the Last Chance List. And here is what I put together. I think I need to give this to my mom. My parents live in the woods in northern Minnesota and my mom captures and shares photos the Northern lights often. Plus she absolutely loves this paper pack.

This photo may help you understand the three main base cardstock pieces as I share the measurements below.

Measurements…

Basic Black Cardstock (base cardstock)
- 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored parallel to the short side at 5-1/2″
- 4-1/4″ x 4″ scored parallel the long side at 1/2″, 2″, and 3-1/2″
- 4-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored parallel to the short side at 2-1/2″ and 3″ and scored parallel to the long side at 1/2″ and 4″
Lights of Aurora Designer Paper
- 4″ x 5-1/4″
- 2-1/4″ x 3-1/4″
- Scrap for die-cutting a small cluster of trees
- 1-1/4″ x 3-1/8″ torn along the top edge for sentiment layer

Directions…

First fold along all the score lines of the base pieces as shown. With adhesive along the 1/2″ sections connect the 4-1/4″ x 4″ piece to the 4-1/4″ x 11″ layer to make a standing easel. Determine where the front will be and then add the 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of designer paper there.
Fold the 4-1/2″ x 5-1/2 base cardstock piece, and trim in and then up on the middle areas to form small tabs (as shown above). Use adhesive to form the box-like “pocket.” Then attach to the front of the easel so that the base of the pocket lines up with the base of the easel.
Die-cut the trees. Stamp the sentiment onto the torn sentiment layer. Layer these pieces onto the 2-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ piece and attach to the front of the pocket.
Add the note pad/s (3M Post It® Note pads are the perfect size) and the pen. And embellish with Rhinestones.

This paper features a new color…Hydrangea Hue! What a pretty periwinkle blue! It’s listed on the back of the paper pack as one of the colors. And the assumption is that it will be part of the 2026-2028 In Colors debuting this spring.
