Welcome to our monthly “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop! It’s time to showcase our February 2025 Hello Spring Paper Pumpkin kit alternate projects! See what I have to share. Then check out all the other blogs in the hop for additional creative ideas that my Stampin’ Up! demonstrator friends shared.

For those of you not familiar with these kits, they get delivered straight to your mailbox in the months of your choice. Inside are all the supplies you need AND the directions for assembling the kit cards/projects designed. Here are the intended cards designed for this February 2025 kit. (Click here for a link to Stampin’ Up!’s how-to video to help you assemble these as intended.)

The February 2025 Hello Spring Paper Pumpkin Kit cards. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I already shared some other alternate card ideas using the contents of this kit on February 26th. Today I’ve got a few more ideas to share with you to inspire your creativity.

This first one is a card and envelope set. In my Feb. 26th video, I shared tips for turning a kit envelope inside-out so the greenery was on the outside. After gluing that inside-out envelope back together, I trimmed off 1/2″ from the flap and rounded the corners to remove the envelope adhesive.

I added some small die-cut circles with brads (one to the flap and one just below to that back side of the envelope). Then I added some Linen Thread from the kit to tie it shut.

For the card I created a base with White Willow cardstock (4-1/4″ x 11″ folded in half at 5-1/2″). I adhered a 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ blue kit card layer and another 1/4″ x 4-1/4″ beige kit card strip to the front. I wrapped some Linen Thread around the front of the card three times and tied a knot off to the right. I stamped my sentiment with Lost Lagoon ink.

Then I added my three herb images (from the kit). To create a bit of shadow, the top one and the left edge of the second one (sticking out to the left) I added with Dimensionals. And I finished the card by adhering a few Brushed Brass Butterflies and bow of another strand of Linen Thread.

Did you know that Stampin’ Up! created this kit to coordinate with the Grow With Love stamp set and dies!? That’s where I got the small circles with holes in the center for the envelope closures. Plus, the Spring Is in the Air Dies have a couple dies that match up with images from this kit’s stamp set. I also used some of these items on the next projects.

This second idea I have for you is turning your envelopes into bags…”bagalopes.”

I made two different ones because I wanted to show you how scoring can alter the look and sturdiness of the bagalope. The one on the left I scored in 3/4″ on the two sides and on the bottom. The one on the right I scored in 1″ on the two sides and on the bottom. After scoring and folding back and forth on those creases, i put my hand inside each of the bags to form the gusseted look and glued the triangle tabs in place on the bottom sides.

The left bag was wider where I wanted to add my flap decor. But it wasn’t as deep and only stood sturdy when I had goodies (weight) inside. The right bag was narrower and gave me less room for flap decor. But it was deeper and stood upright on it’s own.

Here they are side-by-side with the upper flaps folded over and clipped.

Once I got the bags to this point it was just a matter of decorating.

I added a 2-1/4″ x 3-1/2″ blue kit card layer under the mint label which I adhered with Dimensionals. But then I realized that these front label pieces need decoration on the back sides for when the flaps open up.

So on the chives label I stamped more chives with Old Olive ink on the back and on an additional scrap piece. I stamped the flower on the front two times, on the back two times, and on an additional scrap piece. I cut the images on the scraps out with the coordinating dies from the Spring Is In The Air dies and layered the imagery on the back of the label. (OH! If you are replicating this project, you will need to make your designs on the back sides upside-down so they look right-side-up when opening the flaps of the bags.)

On the back of the layered mint label, I just glued on one of the mint images from the kit.

I attached these labels to the front flaps of the bagalopes and then added a few more finishing elements. For the wider bag, I adhered a 3/4″ x 2-7/8″ blue kit card strip and another 3/4″ x 1-3/4″ piece (flipped over and stamped) on top of that. I also added four Brushed Brass Butterflies and a couple bows of Linen Thread.

For the narrower bag, I stamped & cut out (with another die from the Grow With Love Dies) the For You sentiment. I added this with a Dimensional on the inside of the flap. I also added four Brushed Brass Butterflies.

So on a side note… I just found out yesterday that the service I use for emailing out my blog posts to subscribers glitched and hasn’t been working since early December! 😳 First of all I feel horrible. And I have to say I’m embarrassed that I didn’t discover this earlier. You’d think I would’ve noticed. There were hints along the way, but I thought those other issues. Now I know the real reason for those smaller issues, and I’m in the process of trying to make the fix so that my posts get back on an email cycle.

You MAY be getting this post (and the next few) later than intended because I have to send my first few out to small groups at a time. So today’s post and the next few are part of a “test phase.” And then hopefully things will be back to normal.

I rely on my blog posts as one of my main forms of communication and will continue to share on my Stamp Your Art Out website.

There are several creative ideas I’ve shared over the past few months. So if you are interested in looking through the past posts that didn’t email out directly, I have links listed in this email. Or you can just start here and scroll.

Thank you for following what I share. And thank you for your patience as I try to make this fix.
