Painted Harvest Card I CASEd & Had to Share

CASEd is a term many of us use in the paper crafting world. It stands for Copy And Share Everything. So when we like a project design by another and we either completely copy it or change it only slightly and make a version of it, we let others know that we did that by saying that we “CASEd it from so-and-so.”

I saw a card shared in a Facebook group I am a part of called Demonstrator Planning Group. It’s a group for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators, and it’s an amazing place to get inspiration. I could be on it all day everyday and still not see everything, because people are posting ideas there non-stop.

A couple months back I found a card, took a screen shot of it on my phone, changed it up only slightly (because I didn’t have enough of the lace ribbon), and reproduced it as a welcome card to new members in our Stampers With ART group. Thank you Chris Smith for creating and sharing your beautiful card that I just HAD to CASE! Click here to see Chris’ gorgeous card. (Too bad I didn’t have enough ribbon at the time. I would have CASEd it completely!)

Here is my version.

Card I CASEd & Had to Share. It’s made with the Painted Harvest stamp set and the Painted Autumn designer paper...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Measurements:

  • Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock: 11″ x 4-1/4″ folded at 5-1/2″ for the card base
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock: 5-1/4″ x 4″ and scrap for stamping and punching the sentiment and the leaves
  • Basic Gray Cardstock: 8″ long scrap for punching a border
  • Silver Foil Paper: scrap for die-cutting a 2-1/8″ circle
  • Painted Autumn Designer Paper (tiny green leaf pattern): 2″ x 4″

Tips/Directions:

  • Stamp the sentiment in Basic Gray ink and the leaves in Old Olive ink onto the Very Vanilla scrap/s.
  • Punch out the sentiment using the 2″ Circle Punch and the leaves with the Leaf Punch.
  • Die-cut the Silver Foil Paper using the 2-1/8″ diameter die from the Layering Circle Framelits.
  • Punch the 8″ length of Basic Gray Cardstock with the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. Trim this into two 4″ pieces. Then put adhesive on the back side top and bottom edges of the designer paper, and attach these two gray strips so they are peeking out the top and bottom of the designer paper as shown.

Card I CASEd & Had to Share. It’s made with the Painted Harvest stamp set and the Painted Autumn designer paper...#stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

  • Now adhere this to the 5-1/4″ x 4″ Very Vanilla piece.
  • Add a single strip of silver washi tape from the Year of Cheer Washi Tape collection to the top edge of the designer paper. Trim the excess off the ends or better yet…wrap the excess on the ends around to the back side of the 5-1/4″ x 4″ Very Vanilla piece.
  • Attach the sentiment circle to the Very Vanilla circle, then add this to the card with Dimensionals while at the same time tucking in and attaching the punched out leaves.
  • Stamp the inside of the Very Vanilla card base piece, then adhere the 5-1/4″ x 4″ Very Vanilla piece to the front of the card.

This is another version…same card, but with a different sentiment (from a stamp set that us demonstrators were able to get years back). This is the welcome card I sent out to a few new stampers to our Stampers With ART group. So if you plan to sign up this month and want this as your welcome card, be sure to let me know since these papers will be retiring soon. 😉 OH! Yes…did you see the sale? Painted Autumn Stamp-A-Stack Cards

This weekend was a bit busy for me. I intended on sharing this last set of Stamp-A-Stack cards with you yesterday, but I’ve been using all my spare non-mom time to crank out gifts for my Online Stampin’ Blends Club members and swap cards and gifts for my team members attending OnStage, Stampin’ Up!’s convention event coming up this week. (Of course I’ll share those on my blog soon.)

And… the boys had friends over for a sleepover. So I went to bed early Saturday night so I could wake up early and help Nick make a pancake breakfast for everyone. (He’s been cooking and making his own lunches and breakfasts for about a month now. He’s growing up way too fast!)

Today I am sharing the last set of cards that the attendees made at my October Stamp-A-Stack event . You can see the other three sets I’ve shared already by clicking on these links:

Simple cards created with Stampin’ Up!’s Merry Little Labels and Labels to Love stamp sets, the Everyday Label and Scalloped Tag Topper Punches, and the Painted Autumn Designer Papers...#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Below are the supplies, measurements and directions for this super simple card. Then further down are photos of the other variations I shared at my class. Each person was given 1 piece of each of the colored cardstock bases and 3 pieces of patterned paper.

Measurements:

  • Early Espresso (or Garden Green or Cajun Craze) Cardstock: 11″ x 4-1/4″ scored at 5-1/2″
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock: 4″ x 5-1/4″ for the inside of the card…scrap for stamping and punching the label image
  • Painted Autumn Designer paper: 3″ x 4″
  • Gold Foil Paper: 3″ x 1-3/4″
  • Gold Metallic-Edge Ribbon: ~14″

Tips/Directions:

  • Stamp the sentiment on Very Vanilla scrap cardstock and punch out with the Everyday Label Punch.
  • Punch the 3″ x 1-3/4″ Gold Foil piece at both ends with the Scalloped Tag Punch. Be sure to push the paper all the way into the punch and center it before punching.
  • Adhere the Very Vanilla punched sentiment to the Gold Foil punched piece using SNAIL.
  • Attach the designer paper to the front of the card.
  • Tie on the ribbon.
  • Attach the layered sentiment piece with Dimensionals.
  • Then attach the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Very Vanilla Cardstock to the inside of the card.

Notice you can purchase each of the stamp sets in more than one way. The clear-mount stamps cling to clear blocks (sold separately and available in my online store under “stamping accessories” in the Stamps section). The wood-mount come with wood blocks. Also note that the Merry Little Labels stamp set can be bundled with the Everyday Label Punch for a 10% savings.

Layered Leaves 12×12 Scrapbook Page Layout

The September 2017 Layered Leaves Paper Pumpkin kit is absolutely one of my favorites of all the Paper Pumpkin kits! I’ve created a couple more projects (had shared some already on 9/26 and on 9/28), so today I’ll share one of them… my 12×12 Scrapbook Page Layout. It’s one of those simple, elegant sort of page layouts.

Elegant 12x12 Scrapbook Page Layout made with the September 2017 Layered Leaves Paper Pumpkin Kit.… #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Measurements:

  • Early Espresso Cardstock: 2 pieces that are 12″ x 12″
  • Old Olive Cardstock:
    • 5″ x 7″
    • 4″ x 4-1/2″
    • 2″ x 2-3/4″
    • 4″ x 5-3/4″ (2 pieces)
    • 3-1/4″ x 5-3/4″
  • Whisper White Cardstock:
    • 5-1/8″ x 7-1/8″
    • 4-1/8″ x 4-5/8″
    • 2-1/8″ x 2-7/8″
    • 4-1/8″ x 5-7/8″ (2 pieces)
    • 3-3/8″ x 5-7/8″

Tips:

  • Position the photo mats (Old Olive on Whisper White) on the 12×12 Early Espresso cardstock. Do not adhere the photo mats yet, but just use them to guide you in positioning your stamped leaf images, gold leaf stickers, and leaf die-cuts.
  • Here is how a section of my leaves look when I lift the large photo mat on the left page away.

Elegant 12x12 Scrapbook Page Layout made with the September 2017 Layered Leaves Paper Pumpkin Kit.… #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

  • There’s no right or wrong way, Just build up a pile of leaves here and there so they are coming out from under the photo mat areas.
  • Curl some of the leaves with a Bone Folder if you wish. Then attach them with glue dots one at a time. (I cut a couple of my gold foil leaf stickers into two pieces so that 2 leaves became 4.)
  • Stamp the word “thankful” onto a gold-edged tag. You can either mask this stamp to eliminate getting ink on the rest of the words or physically cut your stamp into two parts (which is what I did). Then attach the tag so it looks like it’s coming from a leaf cluster.
  • Then cut a 9″ piece of twine from the kit. Remove the metallic thread to use on another project. Tie the white twine into a bow and adhere to the stamped tag with a rolled-up glue dot.

Painted Harvest Eclipse Scrapbook Pages

Did you see the beautiful eclipse swap card I shared on September 16 made by Juliann Knudsen? I LOVED that card and decided right away when I got it that I needed to create scrapbook pages around it. So this is what I designed. And these were the pages that my scrapbookers made at my class on September 14th.

Eclipse Scrapbook Page Layouts made with Painted Harvest stamp set Large Letters Framelits....#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Isn’t “OMG You are remarkable” a fun title for a page? (OMG stands for Oh my gosh. Well…at OUR house it does.)

I loved the color combo Juliann used for the flowers in her card: Rich Razzleberry, Sweet Sugarplum, Garden Green, and Early Espresso. So I kept that same combo in my pages and added ribbon, designer paper and cardstock to match.

Eclipse Scrapbook Page Layouts made with Painted Harvest stamp set Large Letters Framelits....#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Eclipse Scrapbook Page Layouts made with Painted Harvest stamp set Large Letters Framelits....#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

The eclipse technique is a pretty easy one…

  1. Stamp the images.
  2. Die-cut the shapes.
  3. Adhere everything back in place onto another layer of darker cardstock being sure to raise the die-cut shapes up with Dimensionals.

And… I personally like to offset my raised shapes (the letters) just slightly to the right so that more of the dark cardstock underneath “outlines” them a bit.

Eclipse Scrapbook Page Layouts made with Painted Harvest stamp set Large Letters Framelits....#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

After designing that scrapbook page layout above, I came up with a couple other options for titles and a more autumn or masculine variation on the colors.

Eclipse Scrapbook Page Layouts made with Painted Harvest stamp set Large Letters Framelits....#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

“BTW (By the way)
Live with Passion
Laugh out loud
Love deeply” was one of the more popular title choices during the class. And again you can see I offset the raised letters slightly to the right and down a bit.

Eclipse Scrapbook Page Layouts made with Painted Harvest stamp set Large Letters Framelits....#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Oh! And to save time, these pages only required one fully stamped and fussy-cut extra flower to accent the pages. It’s just cut in half to look like two flowers.

Eclipse Scrapbook Page Layouts made with Painted Harvest stamp set Large Letters Framelits....#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

This was the other color combo: Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Garden Green and Early Espresso. And here are a few measurements if you wish to recreate these pages.

Measurements for a set of pages:

  • Rich Razzleberry (or Cajun Craze) Cardstock: 2 pieces that are 12″ x 12″
  • Garden Green Cardstock: 4 pieces that are 4-1/8″ x 5-1/2″…7-1/8″ x 5-1/8″…and scraps for stamping and punching the 3 sets of leaves
  • Early Espresso Cardstock: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock: 4″ x 5-1/4″…and a scrap for stamping and cutting out another flower
  • Garden Green Ribbon: 2 pieces that are at least 12″ long
  • Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper (green striped pattern): 12″ x 1-1/4″…6″ x 1-1/4″…and 3″ x 1-1/4″

The third option for a title is…
“FYI (For your information)
Life is a
beautiful
thing”

(I thought this Cajun Craze page layout looked better with pearls. And I thought the Rich Razzleberry one was better with rhinestones.)

Eclipse Scrapbook Page Layouts made with Painted Harvest stamp set Large Letters Framelits....#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Now that I shared all these photos and details I hope you don’t get frustrated when I tell you that we no longer carry Cajun Craze and Rich Razzleberry in our 12×12 size cardstock. UGH! Yes, seriously. I had such a surplus of these colors from when it was in past year’s catalogs that I needed to use some of it up for my class. So it’s not in the product list below. Sorry about that. But you did see how easy it was to just change out the colors. So here are a few other suggestions to try.

Berry Burst 12″ x 12″ with Berry Burst and Powder Pink flowers
Real Red 12″ x 12″ with Real Red and Crushed Curry flowers
Pumpkin Pie 12″ x 12″ with Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry flowers

A Great Card To Show Off Lots Of Paper Patterns

Painted Autumn is one of THE most popular suites in the 2017 Holiday Catalog.

Painted Autumn Suite …#stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

The stamp set alone lends itself to such versatility. Have you seen the wreath cards I've made (on 9/15/17 and on 9/18/17)? And check out this card where that same image becomes a hedgehog.

Then… there are the drop-dead gorgeous designer papers! This is one of those packs that you may want to hoard, so maybe you should buy at least two. 😉 Here is a very easy but handsome Painted Autumn "grid" card that you can recreate. AND it displays a small piece from nine of the patterns.

I added Copper Metallic Thread in this second version. And I flipped some of the designer paper pieces over to give the card a less "random" look.

Here are the details.

Supplies (Below is another product list with images of each that are linked to my online store.):

  • Stamps: Painted Harvest (144783)
  • Paper:
    • Cajun Craze cardstock (119684): 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” folded in half for the card base
    • Very Vanilla cardstock (101650): 3-1/2” x 4-3/4” for the inside of the card
    • Early Espresso cardstock (119686): 3-1/2” x 3-1/2”
    • Painted Autumn designer paper (144613): 9 squares that are 1” x 1” each
    • (Optional) Copper Metallic Thread (141696): about 30”
  • Ink: 126965 Cajun Craze, 126974 Early Espresso
  • Other: 126889 Stampin’ Trimmer, 103579 Paper Snips, 104332 SNAIL Adhesive, 104430 Dimensionals

Instructions:

  1. Decide on a pattern you’d like your designer paper squares to have. Lay them out on your 3-1/2” x 3-1/2” Early Espresso piece so they are spaced nicely. Then attach one at a time with SNAIL. Hints: If you put just a little SNAIL on each piece initially, you will be able to move the paper again later if it's not in the right spot. I also started adhering my corner squares first.
  2. (Optional) Put some SNAIL under the bottom left corner and upper right corner. Attach loops of Copper metallic thread so the thread loops will peek out.
  3. Position the 3-1/2” x 3-1/2” Early Espresso piece over the Cajun Craze card base without attaching yet. Use this piece as a guide and stamp the outline leaves image in Cajun Craze ink onto the card base so it will appear to be coming out from behind in the upper right and lower left corners.
  4. Attach the Early Espresso piece to the card front using Dimensionals.
  5. Stamp the outside and inside sentiments with Early Espresso ink onto the card front and onto the 3-1/2” x 4-3/4” Very Vanilla piece.
  6. Attach the 3-1/2” x 4-3/4” Very Vanilla piece to the inside of the card.
  7. Stamp one more cluster of leaves on the left inner panel.
