My project idea that I’m sharing today is Halloween treat containers. I realized last weekend, that if September is already here, then October isn’t far away. I’m not sure how trick-or-treating will go this year with this pandemic, but I thought it would be good to start getting ready just in case. And these containers are SOOOooo super easy to put together using our new Little Treats Box Dies.

Measurements for the striped box…

  • Whisper White Thick Cardstock
    • 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″
  • Black Glitter Paper (mounted on Foam Adhesive Sheets)
    • Scraps for die-cutting letters
  • Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon
    • 10″

Directions…

  • Stamp the stripes image several times on the die-cut unassembled box. I used full color to get the darkest stripes. The lighter stripes happened when I first stamped on my scrap paper and then stamped on my box. This is called “stamping off.” I stamped off once for the next set of stripes. I stamped off twice for the third set. And I stamped off three times for the fourth set. I rotated and repeated on all four sides. And I didn’t worry about stamping in the sections that wouldn’t be seen when assembled.

  • When I assembled the box, I positioned the connecting tabs this way…so they were NOT inside the box. This creates a smoother “wall” on the inside of your box.
  • I did use a bit of Tear & Tape Adhesive (which you will see in the photos below). But it may not be necessary as the box is pretty steady on its own.

  • I tied the top shut with a bow.
  • And then I die-cut the letters and stuck them on. Gotta love those Foam Adhesive Sheets!

    • Scrap for die-cutting scallop circle
  • Black Glitter Paper

  • Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon
    • 10″

Extra Tips…

  • When cutting from a 12″ x 12″ sheet of designer or specialty paper, the box die will cut from a 6″ x 6″ piece if you angle it. That way you can make the most of the paper.
  • You can see in this photo how I secured this box with Tear & Tape.

  • I colored my ribbon with the Cajun Craze Blends Marker. Then after slipping it through the hole, I did an overhand knot to secure it shut. I probably shouldn’t be tying these shut before adding my treat/s. But with my broken toe, I can’t get to the store to buy any Halloween candy (not even sure if it’s available yet). LOL But you get the idea this way. (YES…put the candy/treats in first, THEN tie your bow or knot.)
  • Die-cut your scallop circle and letters. Add the circle with Dimensionals. Add the letters with sponged-on Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Extra Tips…

  • This photo shows another way to add the Tear & Tape. Again, this is an optional step, but it will help secure it.

Hallows Night Angled Pocket Card

The new Magic In This Night Suite is an amazing Halloween-themed set of products. BUT…if you look closer, many of the products could be used to create projects and cards beyond Halloween. I focused on this suite when I decided to make a fun fold card that could hold a bookmark. My husband loves to watch scary movies and read scary books. (I’m total opposite.) His birthday is coming up, so he was on my mind when I created one of these cards. Then I made a second version of this card that didn’t have anything scary at all on it. Both of them were designed using this suite.

I just showed live on YouTube about an hour ago how I made this fun fold card using the Hollows Night Stamp Set, the Halloween Magic Dies, the Magic In This Night Designer Paper, & some Iridescent Pearls along with some other coordinating products. And now I’m sharing that video here in my blog post. Be sure to watch the video by clicking here (or you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog post), scroll through the close-up photos that follow, check out the measurements & products list below, and then let me know if you have any questions.

I hope you enjoyed what I shared in this video. Below are measurements, close-up photos, and a product list for what I demonstrated. (Please subscribe to my YouTube channel so you can get updates when I share and go live).

Three Days Away

Happy soon-to-be-Halloween! My boys have their costumes, they’ve planned with whom they will go trick-or-treating (Nick says this is his last year so he has four friends joining him), the house is decorated, and there is a lot of candy in the house (that I keep having to replenish for some reason). The boys carved their pumpkins, too. This year, Luke (my scary movie fan) did NOT make a scary pumpkin. He made his pumpkin into a little house with windows and a door. He plans to put a rock path up to it and decorate it up a little more.

And this weekend we attended the Anoka Halloween Grand Day Parade which we’ve done pretty much every year since my boys were babies. Nick was in the marching band for the Anoka Middle School for the Arts, and like last year played the quads (a set of drums) while he marched. (proud mama here!)

Come see what I share on my blog… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Do you need some last-minute creative Halloween treat ideas. Designer paper and a simple stamped image can be your friend. These two items can decorate your sweet treats quickly.

Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.

This first one is a Ghirardelli chocolate wrapped with a 4-1/2″ x 1-5/8″ strip of See A Silhouette Designer Paper. I stamped, die-cut, colored, and adhered this vampire image from the Spooktacular Bash Stamp Set.

Three quick ideas made with the Monster Bash Suite of Products: a thank you card, a Halloween RX Bar wrap, and a Halloween Ghirardelli wrap. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

My second one is a cardstock wrap on a slightly larger treat – a Chocolate Sea Salt RXBar. The cardstock measures 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and is scored parallel to the short edge at 1-1/4″, 1-5/8″, 3-7/8″, and 4-1/4″. It’s decorated with a 4″ x 2″ piece of Monster Bash Designer Paper. I then added a stamped, die-cut, and colored mummy image on the front and a stamped and die-cut sentiment on the back – both from the Spooktacular Bash Stamp Set.

Three quick ideas made with the Monster Bash Suite of Products: a thank you card, a Halloween RX Bar wrap, and a Halloween Ghirardelli wrap. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I recommend using Tear & Tape Adhesive to secure the cardstock or designer paper wrapped around the treat.

After Halloween is over, don’t put away the Ornate Frames Dies and Monster Bash Designer Paper. This simple thank you card with a sentiment from the Magnolia Blooms Stamp Set can be given at any time of year. I added a 4″ strip of Black Scalloped Edge Ribbon peeking out from under the right edge of my 4″ x 2″ strip of Monster Bash Designer Paper and added them to Whisper White Note Card. My swirly frame is cut from a piece of Black Foil Sheet. I don’t see “Halloween” at all when I look at this card.

Bone Appétit 3-Panel Scenery Z-Fold

Here is one more fun card idea you can make with the September 2019 Bone Appétit Paper Pumpkin kit, some fun designer paper, and a birthday stamp set that includes sentiments about being old. It’s based off of my 3-Panel Scenery Z-Fold card I shared a couple weeks ago on September 28th. I also shared more that I made with the Feels Like Frost Designer Paper on September 29th and on October 8th.

I sent this Bone Appétit card out to a few of my lucky subscribers.

Here is another 3-Panel Scenery Z-Fold that I created with the September 2019 Bone Appétit Paper Pumpkin kit, the Monster Bash Designer Paper, and the Broadway Birthday Stamp Set. This is a great way to show off connected images or multiple images when you want to use a full 6” wide piece of designer paper. Click here to access measurements, see other close-up photos, get links to all the products I used, and find links to other 3-Panel Scenery Z-Fold cards I’ve made recently. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Here are some details if you wish to make this card yourself.

Products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Measurements for extra products…

  • Basic Black Cardstock
    • 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” scored at 1-1/2” and 4-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock
    • 1-13/16” (or just over 1-3/4”) x 5-1/4”
    • 3/4″ x 3″
    • 1″ x 3″
  • Monster Bash Designer Paper
    • 6” wide x 5-1/4” tall – cut into 3 sections 2-3/4” wide, 1-1/8” wide and 2-1/8” wide

Directions…

  • Ink up the WISH stamp image, then “kiss” the un-inked skeleton image from the stamp set in the kit to the W. The skeleton will remove some of the black ink and leave an image behind when stamped that actually appears quite spooky! ☠︎(Stamp the WISH onto the 1″ x 3″ Whisper White Cardstock.)

  • Stamp the other sentiment onto the 3/4″ x 3″ piece of Whisper White.
  • Cut one of the webs from the kit into two pieces (one slightly larger than the other). Attach with SNAIL Adhesive the smaller web coming from behind out the top of the WISH piece and the larger web coming from behind out the left side of the 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of designer paper.
  • Fold the Basic Black card base, then start adding the layers…
  • Add the 2-1/8″ wide designer paper piece so it sits close to the middle score line of the Basic Black card base (as shown). Add the Whisper White piece next to it leaving about a 1/8″ gap.

  • Fold the card closed, place a piece of contrasting paper or cardstock underneath the front flap and adhere the 2-3/4″ wide designer paper piece to the front so the Basic Black cardstock that is showing frames the designer paper evenly and the designer paper covers up the Whisper White underneath. Be sure that you only apply adhesive where the designer paper connects with the Basic Black top flap of the card.

WORLD CARD SENDING WEEK
Did you take part in World Card Making Day this past weekend? My family was out of town for a wedding. But I made several cards last week and prepared a few customer thank you when I got home on Sunday night.
Stampin’ Up! would now like to assign this week (October 7-12) World Card Sending Week. They have sent out a challenge to our demonstrators to send 50,000 cards during this time—that’s about one per demonstrator, but of course our customers’ cards count too! So report back to me (by the end of the week) to let me know how many cards you’ve mailed this week. I’ll keep a tally, and then I’ll report our amount to Stampin’ Up! (Personally I think we can surpass this goal. I’ve send 30 so far!)

Monster Bash Pencil Boxes

I made more pencil boxes for anyone who is looking for a non-candy treat for Halloween.

I made more pencil boxes. This time I made them with products from our Monster Bash Suite. Oh! And that spider?...It’s made with the 1” Circle Punch and the Daisy Punch. Click here for more details and a list of products I used to make my flowers. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Paper Pumpkin September 2019 Bone Appétit – Alternate Ideas

Eek! Just as Stampin’ Up! promised us, the September 2019 Bone Appétit Paper Pumpkin kit DOES give new meaning to the word “handmade.” ☠︎It’s a fun one for Halloween fans and for those who just love skeletons in general.

As many of you know, I LOVE getting these monthly kits! This month’s kit included supplies to put together 20 food-safe treat boxes. And it included the supplies shown below.

The September 2019 Bone Appétit Paper Pumpkin kit. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

But I like to think outside the box…see what else I can come up with, and create alternate cards, scrapbook pages and more. So I added the extra supplies in the product list at the bottom of this post to the above kit supplies and created my alternate projects that I’m sharing with you today:

  • THREE fun fold cards
  • A non-halloween card
  • Wedding favors
  • A “house” Halloween treat box
  • And a tombstone treat box

Watch my video first to get to get measurements, directions, and tips (you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog). Scroll down to see close-up photos, access the links that I mentioned in my video, and see a list of extra supplies (linked to my online store) that I used to make my creations. Then be sure to visit my blog again soon, because I have many more alternate projects that I’ll be sharing in the coming week or so. 😁

Here are the treat containers that the kit instructs how to make.
