It’s time for another Mystery Stamping event! If you’ve never seen a mystery stamping presentation before, it’s a lot of fun. You create with the supplies in your craft room by following a series of step-by-step clues that are put before you to see if you can put together a similar card to the samples I share at the end.
So go into your crafting space, watch the video below (or click HERE if you do not see the video), and follow my “clues” to play along. Then scroll down to see samples of finished versions of this fun mystery stamping card. And thanks for tuning in!
I’m assuming if you are scrolling down that you have watched the video. Wasn’t that fun?! Did you love seeing all the new products, too?! The finished card samples that I shared in the video are shown below.
By the way…the supply list at the end of this post includes some of the main products featured in the cards. These items are linked to where you can find them in my online store. I didn’t list adhesives and tools like I usually do.
Here are the clues I shared in the video.
Materials to gather:
Trimmer w/scoring blade
Bone Folder
Paper Snips
Stamp set/s with outline images (or images that have gaps…just not completely solid images) and coordinating sentiments
Four ink pads in favorite colors (not too dark)
Blending Brushes to go with the four colors
Tuxedo Black Ink
Versamark ink, Heat Tool, and White Emboss Powder
Adhesives
Basic Black Cardstock
Basic White Cardstock
Embellishments of your choice
Clue #1:
This will be a portrait style card with the opening on the bottom. Cut and prep initial pieces…
Basic Black Cardstock
3-3/4″ x 5″ (9.3 cm x 13.6 cm)
Scrap for front sentiment
Basic White Cardstock
4-1/4″ x 11” scored at 5-1/2” (10.5 cm x 29.7 cm scored at 14.8 cm)
3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″ (9 cm x 13.3 cm)
3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ (8.1 cm x 12.4 cm)
Clue #2:
Prepare front black scrap sentiment piece for card as this shape and size will be used as a guide when stamping the other images. This piece ideally shouldn’t be too large…maybe up to 2-1/2” (6 cm) wide by 1” (2.5 cm) tall. You want it to be noticeable but not the “star of the show.” Stamp sentiment, then heat emboss onto this piece of Basic Black.
Clue #3:
Choose coordinating stamp image/s. Position the 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ (8.1 cm x 12.4 cm) white layer vertically. Then randomly stamp one or more of these images with black ink. If it helps, position the sentiment strip in the upper right area as you do this so you know what it will cover up (you’ll want to avoid having anything important under there).
Clue #4:
Cut your 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ (8.1 cm x 12.4 cm) layer that you just stamped into four pieces. The pieces do not have to be equal, but I suggest making your first sample card this way. Cutting them to equal sizes would give you four 1-5/8” x 2-1/4” (about 4 cm x 6.2 cm) sections. You can get this by cutting in half straight up and down at 1-5/8” (4 cm) and then cutting each of those pieces in half at 2-1/4” (6.2 cm).
Clue #5:
You will be putting these back together on the front of the card eventually but with a slight gap in-between each piece. So, arrange your pieces so that they are a complete looking layer again. Then imagine color radiating out from the center…Using Blending Brushes and ink pads, add a different color ink on each of the four pieces so that the color is more intense at the center and fades to white at the outer edges.
Clue #6:
Adhere your four pieces onto your 3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″ (9 cm x 13.3 cm) white layer so that they re-form the full image with small gaps between the pieces. It might help to add them with just a small amount of adhesive at first. This way you can shift and shimmy everything if needed to make it all look balanced. On my finished samples my gaps between my pieces are about 1/16” (.2 cm).
Clue #7:
Mount this onto the 3-3/4″ x 5″ (9.3 cm x 13.6 cm) black layer. Then add this to the front of the folded white card base. Attach your sentiment strip so that the right edge connects with the black cardstock border.
Clue #8:
Embellish with gems if you wish.z Stamp an inside sentiment if you wish.
Click here to see the “driving by” and floral thank you cards I shared back on my 2/2/2022 post featuring the colors: Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo, Highland Heather, and Polished Pink. The original inspiration for those card (which inspired these today) came from a card I saw by Gina K.
Here are the other five finished cards I shared.
This one features the Choose Happy Stamp Set and the ink colors Calypso Coral, Lemon Lolly, Balmy Blue and Fresh Freesia.
For this card I added more ink to intensify the color. The images are from the Impressions Abloom Stamp Set and the ink colors are Fresh Freesia, Darling Duckling, Misty Moonlight and Strawberry Slush.
This festive card features the Cheers & Sips Stamp Set and the colors Lemon Lolly, Peach Pie, Pretty In Pink and Lemon Lime Twist.
I only used two blended on colors for this card: Flirty Flamingo and Crumb Cake. And the images come from Along These Lines and Blooming Phrases.
This last one that I put together with images from the Choose Happy and Blooming Phrases Stamp Sets include the colors Soft Sea Foam, Summer Splash, Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party.
If you enjoyed this, I’d love to know. Do you have a favorite card? (Comment below.) If you made a version of this card and would like to share it, be part of my Stamp Your Art Out Group. It’s time for another Mystery Stamping event! If you’ve never seen a mystery stamping presentation before, it’s a lot of fun. You create with the supplies in your craft room by following a series of step-by-step clues that are put before you.
So go into your crafting space, play the video below (or click HERE if you do not see the video), and follow my “clues” to try to create something similar to this style card. Then scroll down to see samples of finished versions of this fun card that I made. Thanks for tuning in! Okay…Get ready for some mystery stamping!
I’m assuming if you are scrolling down that you have watched the video. Wasn’t that fun?! I shared four finished card samples in the video. Below are photos of 3 of them – the ones I created.
By the way…the supply list at the end of this post includes some of the main products featured in the cards. These items are linked to where you can find them in my online store. I didn’t list adhesives and tools like I usually do.
Here are the clues I shared in the video.
Materials to gather:
Designer/Patterned pack with two patterns (one very subtle and one very dominant)
Colored base cardstock that coordinates with both patterned papers AND blends in well with the subtle one)
Light neutral cardstock (white or vanilla)
Ribbon (that coordinates with dominant patterned paper)
Trimmer w/scoring blade
Bone Folder
Snips
Small hole punch for ribbon to fit through
Pencil, ruler & eraser
Adhesives
Stamps, Ink, and Embellishments…
Clue #1: This will be a portrait style card with the opening on the right. Cut initial pieces…
Subtle Designer/Patterned Paper
4” wide x 5-1/4” tall (9.9 cm wide x 14.2 cm)
Dominant Designer/Patterned Paper
1-3/4” wide x 4-3/4” tall (4.4 cm wide x 12.9 cm tall)
Colored base cardstock
5-1/2” x 11” (14.8 cm x 27.5 cm)
2” x 5” (5 cm x 13.5 cm)
Light neutral cardstock
4” x 5-1/4” (9.9 cm x 14.2 cm)
Strip or shape that fits your chosen front sentiment (you may cut later)
Ribbon
17” (45 cm)
2” (5 cm)
Clue #2: Position your 5-1/2” x 11” (14.8 cm x 27.5 cm) card base piece in your Stampin’ Trimmer in the landscape orientation with the long top edge touching the top edge of the Trimmer. Score parallel to the short side at 4-1/4” (10.5 cm).
Slide the card base over a bit and score at 8-1/2” (21 cm) but don’t move it afterwards. While keeping the card base in this spot, position the cutting blade 2” (6 cm) from the top & cut from that spot upward.
Then slide the card base over a little bit more and score at 10-3/4” (26.8 cm) but don’t move it afterwards. While keeping the cardstock in place, position the cutting blade 3” (8.5 cm) from the top & cut from that spot upwards.
Clue #3: Keep the card base positioned in the same way you had it in the trimmer. With a pencil, mark the bottom of the two lightly so you can see them and erase them later.
Use a ruler and pencil to connect these two cut mark points with a light line. Use your scissors/snips to cut from the right edge to the first point. Then use your scissors/snips or trimmer to cut along the diagonal line and remove that upper right section of cardstock. The part that sticks out on the right will form the front pocket part of the card.
Clue #4: Start with the card base positioned in the same way you had it in the trimmer. Crease the three score lines (use a Bone Folder to help): The 4-1/4” (10.5 cm) becomes a mountain fold (the crease should come towards you) and the two others become valley folds. Fold completely and flatten all those creases. This portrait style card base should now open on the right and have an extra extension on the front lower right that forms a pocket.
Clue #5: Unfold the pocket temporarily and adhere the 4” x 5-1/4” (9.9 cm x 14.2 cm) subtle designer/patterned paper to the front of the card. And now use strong adhesive to glue the bottom edge and tucked tab edge of the pocket down in place.
Clue #6: Time to work on a separate piece…Hold your 1-3/4” x 4-3/4” (4.4 cm wide x 12.9 cm tall) dominant designer/patterned paper vertically (in portrait orientation). Punch a hole in the top so it’s centered and about ¼” (.5 cm) in from the top edge.
Clue #7: Add some Seal or Tear & Tape just below the hole on the back side. Feed about ½” of the 2” (1 cm of the 5 cm) ribbon through the hole from the front and connect it to this adhesive. Add more adhesive in the same spot (on top of the ribbon you just stuck down). From the front, loosely loop the ribbon over the top of the paper and stick the end down. You should have a small loop of ribbon at the top of your designer/patterned paper.
Clue #8: Adhere this dominant designer/patterned paper strip to the 2”x 5” (5 cm x 13.5 cm) piece of cardstock. Slide your newly created bookmark into the pocket.
Clue #9: Grab the longer length of ribbon. Position the middle of it vertically on the inside of the card. Close the card. Wrap the two ends around the front left area of the card and tie it together firmly with a knot. (Don’t adhere the ribbon. You will want to be able to shift where the knot sits.) Shift the ribbon so it lies near the left edge (where the card folds). Trim the ends.
Clue #10: If you have an inside sentiment, stamp it on the 4” x 5-1/4” (9.9 cm x 14.2 cm) neutral cardstock. Then adhere this layer to the inside of the card. Stamp your front sentiment on a strip or shape (cut, punched or die-cut) of neutral cardstock. Attach it to the front of the card on or near the pocket area under the bookmark. Then shift the knot of the ribbon so it is in alignment with the front sentiment.
Add other imagery, die-cuts and/or embellishments to finish your card!
And here are some photos that may help you see how this one came together.

I just hosted a card swap, and one of the cards in this swap inspired me. I decided it would be great for this Mystery Stamping event! If you’ve never seen a mystery stamping presentation before, it’s a lot of fun. You create with the supplies in your craft room by following a series of step-by-step clues that are put before you.
So go into your crafting space, play the video below (or click HERE if you do not see the video), and follow my “clues” to try to create something similar to this style card from the swap. Then scroll down to see samples of finished versions of this fun fold card that I made. Thanks for tuning in! Okay…Get ready for some mystery stamping!
I’m assuming if you are scrolling down that you have watched the video. Wasn’t that fun?! I shared five finished card samples in the video. Below are photos of 4 of them – the ones I created.
By the way…the supply list at the end of this post includes some of the main products featured in the cards. These items are linked to where you can find them in my online store. I didn’t list adhesives and tools like I usually do.
Here are the clues I shared in the video.
Clue #1: This will be a landscape style card with the opening at the bottom. Materials to gather…
Designer/Patterned Paper (from the same pack)
A more subtle pattern
2-1/4” high x 5-3/8” wide (6 cm high x 14.5 cm wide)
A more dominate pattern
4-1/4” high x 2-1/4” wide (10.5 cm high x 5.7 cm wide)
Base cardstock (that coordinates with both patterned papers AND blends in well with the subtle one)
5-1/2” x 8-1/2” (14.8 cm x 21 cm)
Light neutral cardstock
4” x 5-1/4” (9.9 cm x 14.2 cm)
2-7/8” x 4-1/8” (7.2 cm x 11.5 cm)
Darker cardstock (that coordinates with both patterned papers)
4-1/8” x 5-3/8” (10.2 x 14.5 cm)
3” x 4-1/4” (7.5 cm x 11.8 cm)
½” x 6-1/4” (1.2 cm x 16.2 cm)
Trimmer w/scoring blade
Bone Folder
Snips
Dimensionals
Other Adhesives
Stamps & Ink
Embellishments
Clue #2: Grab your 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” (14.8 cm x 21 cm) card base piece. Score parallel to the short side at 4-1/4” (10.5 cm). Then fold (use a Bone Folder to help) and rotate this folded base so it’s positioned landscape style with the opening at the bottom.
Clue #3: Measure and mark (with a pencil) the ½-way point on the front right edge. Mark the lower left corner. Open the card base and cut that front from one mark to the other. Pull away that triangular layer. Do not flip it over but rotate it so the once “lower right corner” is now in the lower left corner and the straight edges line up with the left and bottom edges of the folded card once again. This is how this piece will attach eventually, but first we need to add designer/patterned papers and the half-inch strip.
Clue #4: Adhere the more dominant patterned paper to this triangular layer leaving a narrow bit (~1/16”) of cardstock exposed on the left and bottom edges. Trim off the excess patterned paper that isn’t attached to the triangular layer. Adhere the longest edge of this triangular piece atop the ½” wide strip exposing just a narrow bit (1-16” or 1/8”) of the strip all the way along that edge. Be sure this strip extends a bit beyond the triangles corners.
Clue #5: Adhere the more subtle patterned paper to the to the top front of the card base leaving a narrow bit (~1/16”) of cardstock exposed on the left, top and right edges. Trim off the excess patterned paper extending past that initial diagonal cut.
Clue #6: Attach the layered triangular piece into place lining up the corners and the left and bottom edges. Trim off any cardstock & paper extending beyond the 4-1/4” x 5-1/2” (10.5 cm x 14.8 cm) folded card base.
Clue #7: Adhere the darker cardstock pieces into place: the 4-1/8” x 5-3/8” (10.2 x 14.5 cm) to the inside bottom half of the open card base & the 3” x 4-1/4” (7.5 cm x 11.8 cm) centered in the middle (with Dimensionals) on the front of the folded card base. Be careful where you place your Dimensionals.
Clue #8: Stamp your white layers. Add them to the darker cardstock layers. And embellish to finish your card!
And here are four of the finished cards.

I have a variation on a fun fold to share with you today. I shared this during my team event last weekend and decided to share it with all of you today in the same way — through Mystery Stamping! If you’ve never seen a mystery stamping presentation before, it’s a lot of fun. You create with the supplies in your craft room by following a series of step-by-step written/verbal clues that are put before you. And I don’t show you the finished card until the end.
So go into your crafting space, play the video below (or click HERE if you do not see the video), and follow my “clues” to try to create something similar to what I’ve already created. Then scroll down to see samples of finished versions of this fun fold card. Don’t scroll down if you want to play along, though. The fun of this it trying to visualize without any photos of what I’ve created. Thanks for tuning in! Okay…Get ready for some mystery stamping!
I’m assuming if you are scrolling down that you have watched the video. Wasn’t that fun?! I shared three finished card samples in the video. So the supply list at the end of this post includes just some of the main products featured in the cards. These items are linked to where you can find them in my online store. I didn’t list adhesives and tools like I usually do.
Here are the clues I shared in the video.
Clue #1: This will be a portrait style card
Materials to gather…
Trimmer w/scoring blade
Bone Folder
Adhesives
Basic White (or other light neutral) Cardstock
5-1/2” high x 8-1/2” wide
4-1/4” x 5-1/2”
Coordinating Cardstock A – back layer
3″ x 5″
Coordinating Cardstock B – front layer
3-1/2″ x 4-1/4″
Cut out imagery and sentiment/s for the front of the card – from designer Paper, from dies, from stamp set imagery… that takes up about no more than about one quarter of the card front size
Embellishments of any kind
Clue #2:
Score your white/neutral 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” sheet of cardstock parallel to one of the short sides at 1-1/4” and at 2-1/2”.
Fold over at the 1-1/4” score line and adhere.
Clue #3:
Then fold the opposite edge over to meet the edge you just adhered (these edges will meet at the 2-1/2” score line) to create a 4-1/4” x 5-1/2” card base.
Rotate so the 1-1/4” wide section is on the left and the 3” wide section is on the right.
Clue #4:
Emboss the 4-1/4” x 5-1/2” white/neutral layer. If your embossing folder is directional, remember that this is a portrait/vertical card. So your embossed layer will be 4-1/4” wide x 5-1/2” tall.
Cut it into two pieces (1-1/4” x 5-1/2” and 3” x 5-1/2”). These layers will be attached to the front areas of the card base later. For now, put them side by side as if they ARE the front of your card. And don’t attach yet.
Clue #5:
We are going to now add the 3” x 5” cardstock layer “A” at a slight angle onto the 1-1/4” x 5-1/2” embossed layer…
Start with it 3” wide and 5” tall. Tilt it to the right a bit and match the upper left corner of A to the upper left corner of the 1-1/4” x 5-1/2” embossed layer. Keep these corners touching and continue rotating until the bottom edge of A meets the lower left corner of the 1-1/4” x 5-1/2” embossed layer. Glue these two together in that position with A on top. Then trim off the cardstock extending off the left and bottom edges of the 1-1/4” x 5-1/2” embossed layer.
Clue #6:
Now position cardstock layer “B” so that it’s 3-1/2” wide x 4-1/4” tall. Cut it diagonally from the upper left corner to the lower right corner.
Position the upper right of these halves on top of layer A so that the longest straight edge of B aligns with the left edge of layer A… and glue.
Clue #7:
Attach this multi-layered piece to the left 1-1/4” x 5-1/2” side of the folded card base.
Add images, sentiments, embellishments, etc. to this angled panel.
Clue #8:
Bend the card base back on that initial 2-1/2” score line to open the right side. Add any images, sentiments, etc. to the inside of the card.
Clue #9:
Close the card. Adhere the 3” x 5-1/2” embossed layer to this right side of the card base.
Finish by adding any final embellishments to this right side.

Here is my first version of this Angled Front Panel Back-Fold Card.
It’s a VERY merry Christmas card as you can see. Because the inside sentiment is long, I stamped it so the fold was positioned between the two words.
Here is my second version. This time instead of cardstock, I used glimmer paper for one of the angled layers. I also added Lemon Lime Twist and Granny Apple Green ink with a Blending Brush on the right side of the green layer to create a bit more shadow behind the circular focal point.
The Adhesive-Backed Peppermints have been pretty popular. But if you are lucky enough to get your hands on them when they get back in stock, you will love how they bring fun and sweetness to your paper crafting projects. I even placed one on the inside.
If you decide to have your 1-1/2″ wide embossed section on the right and build your card in the opposite direction, you can have your card layout more like this third version of the card. I LOVE how the Wink of Stella is showing up on these angled panels!
Be sure to watch the video to hear a few more details about these three cards AND to catch the last half of the video for the new products revealed in the Box Opening portion.
Thanks for stopping by to see what I had to share today. If you enjoyed this, I’d love to know. Share your version on my Facebook Group so I can see what YOU made!

CTMH BRANDED PRODUCTS CLEARANCE SALE Save 30% all Close To My Heart branded products while supplies last. (Sale excludes any Stampin’ Up! scrapbooking products outside of the CTMH product category in the online store.)
I have a new style fun fold card to share with you. I’m calling it the BTW fold which stood for “By The Way” when I originally created it. But BTW could also stand for “Big T W.” And you’ll see why.
I shared this fun fold card during my team event last week and decided to share it with all of you today in the same way — through Mystery Stamping! If you’ve never seen a mystery stamping presentation before, it’s a lot of fun. You create with the supplies in your craft room by following a series of step-by-step clues that are put before you.
So go into your crafting space, play the video below (or click HERE if you do not see the video), and follow my “clues” to try to create something similar to what I’ve already created. Then scroll down to see samples of finished versions of this fun fold card. Thanks for tuning in! Okay…Get ready for some mystery stamping!
I’m assuming if you are scrolling down that you have watched the video. Wasn’t that fun?! I shared three finished card samples in the video. But below is one more.
By the way…the supply list at the end of this post includes some of the main products featured in the cards. These items are linked to where you can find them in my online store. I didn’t list adhesives and tools like I usually do.
Here are the clues I shared in the video (with a “sprinkle of metric measurements” within).
Clue #1: This will be a portrait style card with the initial opening at the bottom. Materials to gather…
Designer Paper that is like artwork you might want to frame on one side and a non-directional subtle pattern on the other side
11″ (29.6 cm) high x 12″ (30.5 cm) wide
Light neutral cardstock (white, vanilla, beige…)
2-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ (6.3 cm x 12.4 cm)
3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ (8.1 cm x 12.4 cm)
Darker cardstock that stands out against both sides of the designer paper
2-3/4″ x 4-3/4″ (6.9 cm x 13 cm)
3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ (8.7 cm x 13 cm)
(Optional) Another coordinating cardstock (a foil or accent color)
2-5/8″ x 4-5/8″ (6.6 cm x 12.7 cm)
3-3/8″ x 4-5/8″ (8.4 cm x 12.7 cm)
Trimmer w/scoring blade or Simply Scored Tool
Bone Folder
Adhesives
Stamps & Ink
Dies/Machine &/or punches
Embellishments of any kind
Clue #2: Start with your DSP (11″ high x 12″ wide). Score in from each side at 1-3/4” (4.5 cm) and 3-7/8” (10 cm) to get four vertical score lines total. When looking at your DSP with the “artwork” side facing you, let’s call these score lines A, B, C, and D from left to right. Score horizontally half-way at 5-1/2” (14.8 cm). This is now score line E.
Clue #3: Using a Bone Folder to make strong creases…Valley fold at line B, and mountain fold at line A. This should create a z-fold look on the left. Valley fold at line C, and mountain fold at line D. This should create a z-fold look on the right. When these four score lines are folded, your DSP should measure 4-1/4” x 11”.
Clue #4: Using a Bone Folder to make strong creases…Now valley fold at line E. Your DSP should now measure 4-1/4” x 5-1/2” (10.5 cm x 14.8 cm) in its completed folded state.
Clue #5: Position the opening of the card at the bottom and add layers. Add the 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ darker cardstock layer to the front so it’s centered. Add the optional 3-3/8” x 4-5/8” layer. Add the 3-1/4” x 4-1/2” light neutral cardstock layer on top. You may want to stamp, emboss, etc. first before adding this layer. You could even use the extra 1” (.9 cm) strip of DSP to decorate this top layer.
Clue #6: Unfold at score line E but leave the other folds alone so the base now measures 4-1/4” x 11”. Keep in portrait position and add the other layers on the lower half section. Add the 2-3/4″ x 4-3/4″ darker cardstock layer centered so that the adhesive is only under the right half. (We want to be able to still unfold the DSP all the way.) Add the optional 2-5/8″ x 4-5/8” layer. Add the 2-1/2” x 4-1/2” light neutral cardstock layer on top. You may want to stamp, emboss, etc. first before adding this layer. You could even use the extra 1” strip of DSP to decorate this top layer.
Clue #7: Finish adding any sentiments/images, punched out die-cut pieces, inks, accents, ribbons, embellishments, etc. to complete.
And this is my fourth version of this card. The gold curly threads are from a strand of disassembled Gold Trim. I curled them by running my fingernail across them.
I colored the birds, berries and branches with the Night of Navy and Wild Wheat inks and a Blender Pen. I also accented with a bit of Wink of Stella. But that is hard to see in this photo.
I absolutely LOVE the Gold Mercury Vellum layers peeking out! It’s just the right amount of shine AND adds a bit of interest.
This Regal Winter Designer Paper is just stunning! Right?!
Be sure to watch the video to see the full insides and outsides of these three other cards.
Thanks for stopping by to see what I had to share today. If you enjoyed this, I’d love to know. Maybe I can share other mystery stamping videos/projects in the future.
