We have an fabulous set of dies in our new 2018 Holiday Catalog called Takeout Thinlits. One die in the set (cut two times) creates an adorable little treat box that is sized to 2-1/8″ x 1-3/4″ x 2″ tall (5.4 x 4.4 x 5.1 cm), and it looks like a mini Chinese takeout box.
…I decided to try making another Halloween character. And with the help of the Spooky Bats Punch, I came up with this fun little Jack-o-lantern!
Here are the details if you wish to make one (or more!) yourself.
Measurements:
Pumpkin Pie Cardstock: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
Basic Black Cardstock: small scrap for punching out bats
Garden Green Cardstock: small scrap for punching out bats
Basic Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon: ~5″
Products: See below for a full list of supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Directions:
Die-cut the box die two times and assemble the box by first overlapping then connecting the bases with Tear & Tape Adhesive. Put a small strip of Tear & Tape on each of the four tabs. Pull up the sides and connect them together with the tabs. Shut the top side flaps, then shut the top main flaps by sliding them together.
Sponge the edges of the box with Pumpkin Pie ink.
Punch out the leaves, curl them a bit with the Bone Folder, and add to the top of the box (on the flap closest to the side that will become the front) with a Glue Dot.
Tie the ribbon in a knot. Then add this with a Glue Dot on top of the Glue Dot of the leaves. Trim the ends.
Punch out the bats. Then insert the punch again onto the side to punch just the scallop edge of the medium bat. Shift it up, and punch this scallop edge again about an 1/8″ from where you first punched. This will be the Jack-o-lantern’s mouth! 🙂
Now use your Paper Snips to trim the largest bat into five sections as shown below. The two outer pieces will be the eyes, and the middle one will be the nose! (Cute, huh?! I’m pretty proud of myself. LOL)
Attach these to the front of the box using Glue Dots and/or Fine Tip Glue.
Fill with a Halloween or harvest treat and gift to someone special.
Here are just a few of the pumpkins I made. Amazing how just moving the pieces makes the face look so different.
I also used this punch art for the faces on a couple other treats that I shared on September 6th.
These takeout treat boxes were one of the four make-n-takes featuring new 2018 Holiday Catalog products that my Stampers With ART Stars made during the last Online Team Event on August 22nd. We sure have fun in our group! I demonstrate these projects for them during that event by broadcasting live in our Facebook group. That way those that get the supplies from me and want to make them along with me can.
Did you see the other make-n-take that I shared on September 9th? The other two of the four I’ll share soon.
I also shared about our new house guest on September 9th…On a “spur of the moment” decision to help our neighbors, we took in their cat on Saturday evening to “foster it” until they could find someone who would want him. Well, the boys and I were thrilled that 24 hours later my husband announced that he was on board with the idea of keeping Riff Raff for good, too!
So right away I went out and got a few things to make our new family member feel more at home.
Our new, almost-three-year-old cat is a sweetheart and has taken to our house with no problem. We plan to give him a new name (our neighbors said that would be fine, and they are thrilled that we have him for good), but we haven’t decided on one yet. Let me know if you have any ideas.

My kiddos are a year apart in school. So I’m once again a parent on the 5th Grade Farewell Party planning committee. I also volunteered (once again) to design and make the invitations. But this year’s theme, “Game On” stumped me for the longest time. Stampin’ Up! doesn’t have a current stamp set that features board game images. And there was NO WAY I was going to do elaborate punch art for 90 invites. So finally thanks to fellow demonstrators, Makalah Wagner and Barbara Smith who mentioned the idea of dice in a private Facebook Group I’m in, I was able to come up with these simple 3-D dice invitations.
The kids all received them yesterday – the day the teacher’s passed them out. I’m excited to hear if they liked the surprises inside – a pair of dice and a game pawn were put in each one. After all, if you are going to give someone a box, it can’t be empty. Right?
I didn’t assemble all of these on my own. Like last year, several parents on the committee came over to put them together so we could get them all done as quickly as possible. And thank goodness we had so many willing helpers. Because I was NOT looking forward to attaching all those black dots myself. Hahaha
We completed them all on April 22nd (minus 6 because I didn’t have enough clear boxes at the time)…
…and even finished the coordinating lanyards that day, too!
If you would like to use this idea for a game-themed party of your own, here are the details.
2″ x 6″ scored at 2″ and 4″ (cut after being printed)
1-1/2″ punched circle (punched after being printed)
Colored Cardstock:
1-3/4″ punched circle
Basic Black Cardstock:
scraps for punching ten 1/2″ circles
Measurements for Lanyard Inserts:
Whisper White Cardstock:
2-3/8″ x 1-7/8″
Basic Black Cardstock:
2-3/8″ x 2″
Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate:
2-3/8″ x 3-3/8″
Products: See below for a full list of supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Directions/Tips for the Dice Invites:
Crease 2″ x 8-1/2″ Whisper White strip on the score lines, then attach 10 black 1/2″ circles as shown using Glue Dots.
Print off the invite onto Whisper White cardstock if your printer allows. To get six 2″ x 6″ invites from one sheet of Whisper White, print Invite 1 and 2 on the same sheet. There are no trim lines marked, so you’ll need to eyeball your cuts. Hint: Cut down the middle of two invites to start, then trim 2″ out from that cut to get your strips. (I didn’t intend on sharing these print outs, but I decided to last minute hoping they would help someone a bit more.)
Assemble the Clear Tiny Treat Box and insert the 2″ x 8-1/2″ so it wraps around the inside side walls. Then insert the 2″ x 6″ invite piece so it wraps from the bottom to the back to the top.
Add the dice and the game pawn, then close the box.
Print off the invite décor piece sheet onto Whisper White cardstock. Punch out an invite label using the 1-1/2″ circle punch.
Attach the colored cardstock 1-3/4″ circle to the outside top of the lid. Then attach the white circle on top of that a little off center for a fun look.
Embellish.
Directions/Tips for the Lanyard Inserts:
Print off the All Access Pass Lanyard Inserts onto Whisper White cardstock.
Trim to size. There are no trim lines marked, so you’ll need to eyeball your cuts to get 2-3/8″ x 1-7/8″ pieces. Hint: Cut down the middle of two rows to start, then trim 2-3/8″ out from that cut to get your strips started. (I didn’t intend on sharing these print outs, but I decided to last minute hoping they would help someone a bit more.)
Layer the 2-3/8″ x 1-7/8″ Whisper White piece onto the 2-3/8″ x 2″ Basic Black piece
Then layer this onto the 2-3/8″ x 3-3/8″ Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate piece.
Put this insert into the zipped pouch of the lanyard.

We are now approaching our last hours of Sale-a-Bration. Did you get the freebies you wanted?
CLICK HERE to access the flyers/brochures OR CLICK HERE to get to my online store and see what you can get for free when you order Stampin’ Up! products before March 31st ends. Here are a few more cards that show off a few of the Sale-a-Bration products.
Sweet Sugarplum or Peekaboo Peach cardstock: 7″ x 5″ scored at 3-1/2″ and folded in half for the card base
Springtime Foils Designer Paper: 2″ x 3-1/2″
Whisper White cardstock: 3-1/4″ x 3-3/4″ for the inside and scraps for punching two 1″ circles
Basic Black cardstock: scraps for punching two 1-3/8″ circles and two 3/4″ circles
Rich Razzleberry or Pumpkin Pie cardstock: scraps for punching beak and feet
Directions:
Punch 2-1/4″ circle punch half-way into the top edge of the card. (I don’t recommend punching through both layers at once. Punch through one, and then fold the card shut and punch through the other.)
Emboss the front of the card base for texture.
Sponge color onto the Springtime Foils Designer Paper. Then punch into the designer paper with the 2-1/4″ circle punch.
Punch the beak, feet and circles for the eyes.
Assemble the card. Accent with rhinestone buttons or a bow.
On this one I even added a little shine to the eyes using the white pencil and the Watercolor Pencils.
Sahara Sand cardstock: scrap for stamping and punching 1″ circle
Mixed Medallions kit: one Berry Burst card base, large Calypso Coral flower (flipped over), 2 smaller Calypso Coral flowers, 1 small white flower and “thank you” circle piece
Directions:
Fold up the Berry Burst card base.
Stamp “For You” onto Sahara Sand cardstock. Punch with 1″ Circle Punch. Adhere to the back of the large Calypso Coral flower, and add to the front of the card with a Dimensional.
Open up side flaps and add two flowers with rhinestones.
Open up top flap and add one more flower, a rhinestone and the thank you sentiment piece.
Whisper White Thick cardstock: 2″ x 5-1/2″ and scrap for stamping and die-cutting 2-3/8″ circle
Basic Black cardstock: 2-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and scrap for die-cutting 2-1/2″ scallop circle
Directions:
Die-cut black scallop circle.
Stamp flower image on the inside of the card and on the white scrap. Color the one on the scrap with Stampin’ Blends Markers. Die-cut and adhere this circle to black scallop circle.

With Spring around the corner, I just HAD to make a bunny from this kit. And those round flowers when flipped over look like little fluffy bunny tails. All I needed was the round body and a couple ears! Bunnies are great for welcoming Spring and Easter, of course. So I made a matching basket, too. Another thought though…if a new baby is coming soon, putting together several of these baskets as shower favors would be fun. And the card could be given to the mom-to-be!
I wanted to show you (with the help of a quick video) how I put these together. Watch my video for measurements, tips and directions. Then scroll down to see close-up photos, links for more information shared in the video, and a list of the extra supplies (linked to my online store) I used to make my creations.
