I’m so thrilled to share this fun fold card with you today! First of all green is my favorite color. But look at the prettiness (is that a word?) of these images?
This gorgeous cake image is in a stamp set called Happy Birthday to You and is from the free Sale-a-Bration offerings this year. Yes! The entire stamp set is FREE when you place an order of $50+ during Sale-a-Bration. And as of February 4th, you can get the Birthday Dies that coordinate with images in this stamp set. So of course I had to create right away when I got my order. And I came up with this Bend Open Pocket Card and shared it on Wednesday during my Facebook Live Online Paper Crafting Class.
I uploaded the recorded version of my Facebook Live video to my YouTube channel (since I know not everyone is ON Facebook). And then I was able to share it here in my blog post. Be sure to watch the video (you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog), scroll through the close-up photos, check out the products list below, and then let me know if you have any questions.
I hope you enjoyed what I shared in this video. Below are measurements, close-up photos, and a product list for the card that I demonstrated.

I just put these cards featuring the “spotlighting technique” out in the mail today to my Paper Crafter’s Club members.
Here are the details if you wish to recreated this fun design.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
Basic Black Cardstock
4-1/4” x 11″ scored parallel to the short side at 5-1/2”
Scrap for punching Starburst
Whisper White Cardstock
4″ x 5-1/4″ (for the inside)
Scraps for stamping and die-cutting bees
Golden Honey Designer Paper (free during Sale-a-Bration!)
4″ x 5-1/4″
Colored Cardstock (to match Blends Marker)
2-1/4″ x 5/8″
Directions…
Stamp and die-cut a large and small bee.
Punch a 2″ Circle straight in from the top of the designer paper peice. You may want to consider which end should be the top based on the images within the designer paper. In this example I chose this end because it included both a large and small bee, because in my finished card I wanted to place my die-cut bees over these images of bees in the designer paper to give the appearance of those bees popping off the paper. (Note…Not all the designer paper designs will work with this.)
Color the die-cut bees abdomens.
To “spotlight” this section of the designer paper, add color and layer it onto a slightly larger circle of Basic Black Cardstock. In this case I used the Starburst Punch for the larger circular layer. And instead of coloring the details of the bees, I instead just colored over the whole area with my Blends Marker. I used Blends Markers rather than the Stampin’ Write Markers so I would get a smoother flow of color without the streaked look.
Attach the colored circle to the Starburst circle using SNAIL Adhesive. Attach the die-cut bees (possibly over the printed designer paper bees) using Dimensionals. Then add more SNAIL to the bottom and add loops of metallic thread. I got my gold metallic thread by trimming pulling the edge threads away from an 8″ length of Gold Metallic Edge Ribbon.
Trim off 1-1/8″ from the bottom of the designer paper. Then trim off another 1/8″ to form the gap. Keep these all lined up so the images flow.
Stamp and add the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Whisper White to the inside of the card.
Add the larger 4″ x 4″ designer paper to the front of the card. Then add the narrower 4″ x 1-1/8″ piece below keeping that 1/8″ gap and forming the illusion of a black strip running through the bottom.
Add the layered circle (the spotlighted area of the card) to the front of the card so the designs in the designer paper line back up again.
Stamp the sentiment piece. Notch the end with a scissors. And attach to the front of the card.
On a couple of my cards, I embellished with Gold Metallic Pearls instead of metallic thread just for a different look. I should’ve taken a photo of all 22 cards before I put them out in the mail, but tomorrow after my Facebook Live Online Paper Crafting Class (yes, I moved it to Tuesday), I am packing up for a 5-day crafting retreat!! I’m working fast to get everything done before I go. ?A big thanks to my assistant Vicki for helping me die-cut all those bees!
Here are close ups of four of the finished cards. The bees I stamped line up with the bees in the designer paper on these first two cards.
You can also see that on the first and third cards I embellished with metallic thread. And on the second and last ones I used metallic pearls.
They were super fun to make! And what a festive design that brings back the comfort of warm weather to those of us in the cold Minnesota winter season right now.

There is a new Mini Trimmer!! And guess what?! You can create full-size cards with it using a few simple tricks. So on Tuesday during my Online Paper Crafting Class on Facebook, I shared how to use this Mini Trimmer!) and I created a pair of Valentine cards featuring some fun new designer paper and the Peaceful Moments bundle (the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set and Poppy Moments Dies).

Welcome to our monthly “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop! See what I have to share. To follow the hop and see other creative project ideas, simply scroll down and click on the names of other hop participants.
Here is a photo of the intended projects from this month’s kit: Ten serene winter holiday-themed greeting cards.
I’ve already shared a few other alternate projects using the contents of this kit on October 22nd.
Turning the supplies for one card into three
A window card
A simple 12×12 scrapbook page layout with a shaker centerpiece
Today I have for you two cards: a photo card and a pocket card.
People LOVE to send cards at Christmas time. And photo cards seem to be the ones I get the most. Here is how you can turn your 10 kit cards into ones that will share your family’s holiday photo.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
Whisper White Thick Cardstock
4″ x 11″ scored parallel to the short edge at 2″
Early Espresso Cardstock
3-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ for matting photo
Woodgrain printed paper (from the lining of the kit envelope)
2″ x 4″
Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon
2″
Since this card would need to be put into a business size envelope (you can pick up a box of these at your local store), the kit envelope can be used for the wonderful print lining the inside. Just trim off the sides of the envelope to open it up. Then cut your 2″ x 4″ piece from that.
Directions…
Fold the 2″ section over to form a mini “card” on the left edge of the Whisper White Cardstock. Create a crisp fold with the Bone Folder.
Adhere woodgrain printed paper on the front of that 2″ wide section.
Open the “card” and stamp the sentiment.
Adhere the Early Espresso photo mat. Add 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ horizontal photo.
Color the ribbon with the Pool Party Blends marker. Allow a couple minutes for it to dry.
Die-cut the trees from the kit card using the largest oval from the Layering Ovals Dies.
Fold the ribbon to form a V. Adhere to the back of the oval (coming out the upper left section). Trim ends.
Attach the oval layer as shown with Dimensionals. Make sure the Dimensionals are only connected to the woodgrain paper.
Add Rhinestones to the tree tops.
Gift cards make gift giving a little easier. And as a mom of a teen and soon-to-be-teen, I know too well how awesome these cards can be when the things they want are too expensive for any ONE person to get. Here is how you can turn your 10 kit cards into ones with the perfect size pockets.
Measurements…
Whisper White Thick Cardstock
4-1/4″ x 11″ scored parallel to the short edge at 2-1/4″ and 5-1/2″
Woodgrain printed paper (from the lining of the kit envelope)
2″ x 4″
3″ x 4″
Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon
14″
Since you’ll be cutting up the kit envelope to make these cards, I included a link to the Medium Whisper White Envelopes in the supply list below. As I mentioned for the photo card… to obtain the printed paper on the inside of the kit envelopes, just trim off the sides of the envelope to open it up. Then cut your 2″ x 4″ piece and 3″ x 4″ piece from that.
Directions…
Fold the 2-1/4″ section over, adhere the 2″ x 4″ woodgrain printed paper, punch a half-circle, then secure this pocket with two strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive placed close to the outer edges.
Fold the Whisper White card base closed and adhere the 3″ x 4″ woodgrain printed paper on the front section.
Create crisp folds with the Bone Folder.
Color the ribbon with the Pool Party Blends marker. Allow a couple minutes for it to dry.
Die-cut the trees from the kit card using the largest oval from the Layering Ovals Dies.
Wrap the ribbon around the top and tie a knot. Trim the ends.
Attach the oval layer as shown with Dimensionals. Make sure the Dimensionals are only positioned towards the top half. You don’t want them to connect with the lower half of the card.
Open the “card” and stamp the sentiment.
Add Rhinestones to the tree tops.
I hope I inspired your creativity with what I shared today!

There are piles ALL over our house this week. I have some fun stuff that I’m working on.
The biggest piles were prepared, packaged up and are now waiting to be picked up by my mail carrier this afternoon…my supplies, gifts, make-n-takes, and products for those that purchased my Gift of Fall Paper Pumpkin Palooza To-Go.
This is an amazingly huge event that sold out in less than 3 days! So I’m hoping to offer it again with another Paper Pumpkin kit in a few months. Be sure you are signed up to receive my newsletters so you get notice for it right away.
Another pile was in my garage when I took this photo and is made up of my new Stamp-n-Storage units. I spray painted all of them to prime/seal the wood. (You NEED to do this if you are going to paint them in any way. This wood is strong but very porous and will get ruined if you don’t first coat it with spray paint.)
I have moved them indoors. And after Halloween is over I’ll take them downstairs to paint them with the white latex paint that coordinates with my other SnS units. Be sure you are subscribed to my blog so you get emails each time I share. I can’t wait to show you what I’ll be storing in these new organizational pieces.
Luke, my 12-year-old is taking a drawing class this year and has been enjoying making “graffiti doodles.” He’s been watching YouTubers draw and color in these imaginative illustrations. And he now wants to take all my Stampin’ Blends Markers away from me! Eek! In fact he asks (begs and pleads with me) many times a day if I will buy him a set.
If you’ve never tried these markers, they are amazing. Similar to Copics, Stampin’ Blends are alcohol-based markers that blend with ease for intense, smooth color. Guess I have a new idea to add to the Christmas wish list for Luke.
Today at 11 AM Central Time I’ll be broadcasting live on my Facebook page and sharing some new products that will be available come November 1st. Hope you can join me!
Have a fun and safe Halloween tomorrow evening!
