I’m a HUGE fan of Stamp-n-Storage! Their products made my dream craft room come true.
I just reorganized my crafting area with a few new Stamp-n-Storage units, and I’m excited to share now that they are painted and displaying some of the new Stampin’ Up! products from the 2018-19 Annual Catalog!
When I found out about the new ink pad design at OnStage this past April and then found out that Brett at Stamp-n-Storage was already working on a few new storage unit solutions to accommodate the new pads, I made a plan that this was the ideal time to change several of my units out that I’d been wanting to update for awhile now.
I definitely wanted to change out/update the units for my markers, reinkers and pads. I realize I could’ve just added spacers in my combo unit, but I absolutely fell in love with the Stampin’ Ink Pad Holder for Color Families. (I hope it sticks around longer. Right now it’s a “limited edition.”) When it’s paired with the Side-by-Side Marker Holder, it’s just gorgeous showing off the 10 upright reinkers for each color family above each column. And it aligns so nicely with the corresponding markers adjacent to each row! I love this look so much!! I think it’s a cleaner and more colorful look.
I also had a new Stampin’ Blends Marker holder to work into my reorganization. My first punch holder was too big (I don’t hang onto retired punches), so I went down to the standard size. And I needed a slightly larger place for my odd size ink pads (Memento, StazOn, VersaMark) and some of my older style ink pads with the updated firm foam pad for classes and events where I might need two of the same ink pad color. I changed out my Standard 36 to the one that holds 48. These are the units I now have:
- Lock-down punch holder standard size
- Stampin’ Blends holder
- 32-1/2″ Ribbon Shelf
- Side-by-Side Marker Holder
- Stampin’ Ink Pad Holder for Color Families
- Corner shelf w/back
- Standard ink pad holder for 48 pads
- 12”x12” Paper Storage Units for Kallax/Ikea (6 of these)..13”x13”
- a Medium and a Large Die Shelf
- Stamp-n-Storage Wafer Die Storage
- Stamp-n-Storage Magnetic Sheets & Dividers
- Two 12×12 Paper Crates with a Rolling Base
And I’m so happy with my organized space!

What sort of base do you have under the storage units?
My room is in our 1/2 basement level – 1/2 the room is underground and the other 1/2 is above. So that is a ledge that goes around the “outside” walls and sits on top of the cement foundation of the underground level.
Thanks.
Rachel, do you have any older units for sale by chance? Just curious as I know I could give them a new home! Let me know. Thanks.
Oh…thanks for your interest Karen. They were snatched up before I even received my new ones just from a couple stampers who happened to be at my house helping with my product shares.
What kind of paint do you use on them?
Spray paint! – nothing water-based.
I hired a painter in the winter with my first set of SnS organizers 2-1/2 years ago because I didn’t have a warm ventilated room to paint them on my own. I hired the wrong person, though…she ended up painting them with a water-based latex paint. And the wood swelled and split and cracked. My parents spent literally 48+ hours fixing the damage she created…re-drilling holes, sanding, repainting…it was a horrible mess.
So for these new pieces I went with spray paint and then used that white latex from before only on the outside (after spray painting) to match the color on the first pieces.
My dad did all the painting for me, because I was so traumatized by the damage that happened the first time. LOL
What brand did you use? Any chance you have a picture of the paint used?
I don’t have a picture. But any spray paint should work. And then you can always go over it on the outside with the a latex paint that matches your decor. The spray paint acts as a sealer. If you have a couple coats of spray paint down, the wood shouldn’t swell once you add the latex.
Does the spray paint cause your ink pads to stick at all when taking them out, or putting them back in the ink storage holder?
There is a little bit of that when taking them out, but I blame it on our humid weather that we get here in MN. LOL No damage to the pads or holders. The spray paint or the latex does this. Not painting at all will prevent that.
These look amazing. However, I hate the design of the new ink pads. They are not easy to open on old arthritic hands ?
I can understand that. They are a little stiff at first, but they do loosen up with use. And if you rub a little chapstick where the pad slides into the cover, that actual makes it even easier. Hope that helps.
i was looking at stamp n storage site for the unit you have your new inks, it is beautiful! I haven’t been able to tell what unit you have. can you let me know the exact name, i really would love one of these. I love the extra top shelf on it too. Thank you. Also, i really enjoy watching your videos and the beautiful projects you make!
Thanks so much for your kind words Debra. Yes…I’m so happy I invested in this ink pad storage. I love it. It’s listed in the second paragraph and linked to where you can find it on their site…the Stampin’ Ink Pad Holder for Color Families: https://www.stampnstorage.com/Stampin-Ink-Pad-Color-Families/#a_aid=stampyourartout
