Oh my goodness! I love the elements and the colors of this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit – the August 2021 Hope Box kit! In fact I was so inspired when I got the kit that I think I created my first set of alternates, recorded my how to video, and created this blog post in record time.
This pretty kit (inspired by Stampin’ Up!’s co-founder, Shelli Gardner) contained the supplies shown below to make nine colorful hope-themed cards along with some extra elements for decorating the box this kit arrived in.
But I never assemble my kits as is, because I like to show subscribers other ways to use those supplies. I like to think outside the box…see what else I can come up with, and create alternate cards, scrapbook pages and more. So today I’m sharing with you…
How I doubled the kit by turning the envelopes into more cards
A simple card (stunning on black)
A double slider card
A book binding card
And a hope jar (mini 3-D gift)
Watch my video first by clicking here to get to get measurements, directions, and tips (or you can just click on this image below if you are already in my blog post). Scroll down to see close-up photos, access the links that I mentioned in my video, and see a list of extra supplies (linked to my online store) that I used to make my creations. Then be sure to visit my blog again soon, because I have many more alternate projects that I’ll be sharing on September 2nd and again on September 10th.
Here are the cards the kit instructs how to make. (Click here for a link to Stampin’ Up!’s how-to video featuring Shelli to help you assemble these as intended.)
And here are close-up photos of the alternate projects I made and shared in my video. (Remember to watch my video first to get measurements, tips and directions.)

Today is the last day to sign up (or have an active subscription) for Paper Pumpkin so you get in on this next kit titled Hope Box.
So I thought I’d share a couple more projects that I put together with some of my leftovers from last month’s The Adventure Begins kit. (By the way, I’m so sorry that I missed participating in the blog hop last week. It’s been a very busy time for us at home lately. Here is a link to Sara’s blog post so you can go back check out all that was shared: https://theartfulinker.com/a-paper-pumpkin-thing-blog-hop-the-adventure-begins/)
I made two pop-out window cards. And they were so fun and easy to put together! I’ll walk you through one of them first.
Extra products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
Basic Black Cardstock
Kit card (2 of the cards with the camper/trees)
tree scene
4″ x 5-1/4″ scored parallel to the long edge in half at 2″
4″ wide x 4-1/4″ tall
window/camper/white
4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
6-1/4″ wide (left side still attached to a 2″ wide section of white) x 5-1/4″ tall (see second photo down…trim off the white borders on top and bottom) scored down the middle of the window area (should be 2-1/8″ from the right edge)
2-1/4″ wide x 5-1/4″ tall (see second photo down…trim off 1/4″ on the bottom) scored parallel to the long edge at 1/4″
Directions…
Prepare all your pieces to size.
Cut the camper away from the inside window piece.
Fold on the score lines as shown in the above photos.
Add the taller tree piece to the inside of the card base. Be sure that adhesive is only along the side edges. Connect the two together in a closed position with the middle edges as snug together as possible. Note, when the card is open a gap will naturally occur down the middle. This is normal AND is the reason adhesive shouldn’t be added in the middle.
Connect the skinnier white later to the right side of the inside window layer. The right edge of the inside window layer should overlap and meet up with the crease of the skinner white layer. Then fold this “w” flat. Add to the inside by first adhering one side and then folding the card base flat to add the other side.
Cut down the tree and the camper a bit. Then glue just inside the window areas.
Stamp sentiments on the inside and on the other window layer that will be on the front of the card.
Add the smaller tree layer to the front of the card. Add the window layer with Dimensionals.
Then add sequins.
The second card is done the same way. But I used Shaded Spruce Cardstock for my card base. And I didn’t trim out and re-add any elements on the inside window. Oh! And I used star embellishments instead of sequins from the kit.

I’m ready to share with you my first set of alternate projects that I made with the July 2021 “The Adventure Begins” Paper Pumpkin monthly subscription kit.
This amazing kit contained the supplies shown below to make twelve fun-fold, outdoor adventure-themed cards.
The cards the kit instructs you how to make are fantastic. But I never assemble my kits as is, because I like to show subscribers other ways to use those supplies. I like to think outside the box…see what else I can come up with, and create alternate cards, scrapbook pages and more.
Today I’m sharing with you…
How you can turn 12 cards into FORTY (more than tripling the cards in the kit)!
And my “You Shine” 12×12 scrapbook page layout.

Today is the last day to sign up (or have an active subscription) for Paper Pumpkin so you get in on this next kit title The Adventure Begins.
So I thought I’d share a couple more projects that I put together with some of my leftovers from last month’s Expressions in Color kit.
I first made this Pinwheel Tower card using only three extra products… I added in Basic White & Fresh Freesia Cardstock although I could’ve used more card base pieces from the kit. And I also brought in Blackberry Bliss Ink even though I could’ve used an ink from the kit. So this card IS doable with what comes in the kit.
Extra products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
Basic White Cardstock
Four pieces… 2-3/4” x 4-1/4”
4-1/4” x 4-1/2” scored parallel to the short side at 1”, 2”, 3” & 4”
Expressions in Color pink/purple card base from the kit
Two pieces… 2-1/2” x 4”
Fresh Freesia Cardstock
Two pieces… 2-1/2” x 4”
Tips…
Follow directions in my how-to video for creating the base of this Pinwheel Tower Card (start around the 12:20 minute mark).
Ink up only the word “sending,” then stamp it on a small white banner towards the right. Clean off the stamp. Then ink up only the word “hugs” and stamp it on another small white banner towards the right.
Cut one of the vellum floral pieces in the kit in half and then in one of those halves in half again to get two pieces with a nice 90 degree corner on them. First adhere the stamped white banner piece to the vellum flower, then put more glue dots under that area and add the vellum flower to the Fresh Freesia Cardstock layers.
Cut one of the sequins in half before adding to the two white panels of the card.
The card flattened out (on any of the four sides) will fit into a medium A2 size envelope. Yay! Here are the ways I decorated all four sides of my card.
Two days ago after looking back on the fun my family had at the cabin this past weekend, I created this scrapbook page layout. We celebrated Independence Day also known simply as the 4th of July. So I cut apart and reworked the letters on the vellum words from the kit to get my page title. Hahaha! You can’t really see my “piecing together” areas unless you look super close.
Extra products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
Pacific Point Cardstock (from the Brights 12×12 Cardstock pack)
Two pieces that are 12″ x 12″
Basic White Cardstock (from the 12×12 pack)
Two pieces that are 3-1/2″ x 12″
Two pieces that are 1″ x 12″
Early Espresso Cardstock (optional for photo mats)
Four pieces that are 4-1/8″ x 5-1/2″
Three pieces that are 3-1/4″ x 3-1/2″
Tips…
Use 1-1/2 pieces of vellum floral pieces from the kit. If you made the card above, you can use that leftover half and then another one cut in half.
Cut all cardstock pieces to size and then cut the vellum words as shown to get the “july” and the “th.” (These can be adhered with sponged on Multipurpose Glue.) The first photo shows where I cut for three of the words. The second photo shows the parts of those words that you need to keep. And the third photo shows those parts turned and repositioned to form the title.
Form the number 4, glue the small banners in place and allow to dry. This will be adhered with Dimensionals that have been cut in half.
Follow the directions in this how-to video for creating the base pieces (start around the 25:00 minute mark).

It was delivered late afternoon on Monday. I was able to play around on Wednesday and record and edit my video these last couple days so I could bring to you my first set of alternate projects using the June 2021 Expressions in Color Paper Pumpkin kit!
This kit contained the supplies shown below to make nine colorful and beautiful cards.
But I never assemble my kits as is, because I like to show subscribers other ways to use those supplies. I like to think outside the box…see what else I can come up with, and create alternate cards, scrapbook pages and more. So today I’m sharing with you…
Four cards made using the “One Sheet Wonder” technique
A book-binding card (featuring the alcohol wash look with stamps and Gilded Leafing)
And a beautiful mini album
Watch my video first by clicking here to get to get measurements, directions, and tips (or you can just click on this image below if you are already in my blog post). Scroll down to see close-up photos, access the links that I mentioned in my video, and see a list of extra supplies (linked to my online store) that I used to make my creations. Then be sure to visit my blog again soon, because I will have many more alternate projects that I’ll be sharing on July 1st and again on July 9th or 10th.
Here are the cards the kit instructs how to make. (Click here for a link to Stampin’ Up!’s how-to video to help you assemble these as intended.)
And here are close-up photos of the alternate projects I made and shared in my video. (Remember to watch my video first to get measurements, tips and directions.)
