I’m super excited to share my first set of alternate project ideas that I created using the contents of the October 2021 Peaceful Christmas Paper Pumpkin kit!
This kit contained the supplies shown below to make ten stunning Christmas cards.
But I never assemble my kits as is, because I like to show Paper Pumpkin kit subscribers other ways to use those supplies. I like to think outside the box…see what else I can come up with, and create alternate cards, scrapbook pages and more. So today I’m sharing with you…
How I tripled the number of cards in the kit
Gift card holders that I made from the envelopes
And a hanging lantern Christmas ornament idea
Watch my video first by clicking here to get to get measurements, directions, and tips (or you can just click on this image below if you are already in my blog post). Scroll down to see close-up photos, access the links that I mentioned in my video, and see a list of extra supplies (linked to my online store) that I used to make my creations. Then be sure to visit my blog again soon, because I have many more alternate projects that I’ll be sharing on October 28 and again on November 9th.
Here are the cards the kit instructs how to make. (Click here for a link to Stampin’ Up!’s how-to video to help you assemble these as intended.)
And here are close-up photos of the alternate projects I made and shared in my video. (Remember to watch my video first to get measurements, tips and directions.)
Triple the number of cards in the kit
Again…just remember to make 5 of each of these cards to get 30 cards from your kit.
Gift card holders from envelopes
Hanging lantern Christmas ornaments

Today is the last day to sign up (or have an active subscription) for Paper Pumpkin so you get in on this next kit titled Peaceful Christmas. Ooo ahhh…right!? (Information on this kit can be found at the bottom of this post.)
So I thought I’d share a few more projects that I put together with some of my leftovers from last month’s Haunts & Harvest kit. And today I have my blog post linked to posts from those in my PPX exclusives video crew. So see what I have to share. Then scroll down and click on the names of other hop participants to see additional creative alternate paper crafting project ideas with this Paper Pumpkin kit. (If you are receiving this blog post by email, click HERE to see the hop.)
My first two are simple little 3″ x 3″ mini cards made from 3″ x 6″ Basic White cardstock folded in half. (I recommend using 12×12 cardstock if you plan to make several this size so you don’t waste paper.)
This sunshine is composed of leftovers that I cut from boxes in the kit when I made my September 24th scrapbook page. The smile was cut the same way I cut shared with the pumpkins for my page layout using the Snowman Builder Punch. But a 3/4″ or 1″ circle punch would work, too. The whites of the eyes are from the white labels in the kit, and the black parts are from the small Black Matte Dots.
Did you see trees in those “leaf vein” stamps, too! I stamped this one in the Soft Succulent Ink from the kit, added the ground image from the kit stamps in the same ink color that is first stamped off onto scrap paper to lighten it, and then added the sentiment with Tuxedo Black ink.
Extra products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
The next set of projects are things you may want to make to decorate your Thanksgiving Day table. I doubled the boxes in the kit by cutting them in half to make 24 3-sided tower boxes.
The napkin ring is made simply by twisting the wire piece into circular loops on each end, wrapping it around the napkin, and then tying the ends together with ribbon for a colored accent.
The boxes need a bit more explaining, so I took a bunch of photos during the process of me making them.
Cut your box as shown – in half, remove rounded tabs, and delete the base leaving a tab shape in its place.
Cut the loop end off the tab as shown.
Score about 2″ from the base of each tab.
Trim about 3/8″ (1 cm) out from each score line.
Stamp the leaves and sentiments. Connect the loop to the top of the sentiment strip.
Score that cut off box base piece down the middle and fold in half.
Discard the rounded ends that were cut off.
Add the box base piece to the section that doesn’t have its own tab. This will create a tab. Then add glue and connect the sides together using the tabs.
Close up the 3 small tabs on the smaller ends and glue to secure. (The other end will just get folded to close.)
Miter the larger tabs on the wider end, add candy or coins, and fold shut.
Put boxes upright. Add a couple stacked Mini Dimensionals on the back corner and a Glue Dot or two on the front edge. Add a wide leaf or a couple skinner leaves as shown.
Add about 10″ of ribbon and tie a bow.
Then adhere the message/bow with Glue dots.
Looking for more ideas? Be sure to check out my other fun alternate projects that I shared September 24th and September 30th. I hope I inspired your creativity with what I shared today! If you did not get this kit, I hope you can apply these ideas to products you already own.

I’ve already shared some other alternate projects using the contents of this kit on September 24th.
My variations of the boxes: Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, a chocolate dipped strawberry, and a flower
A fancy pumpkin card
A simple monochromatic “strip” card
And a Halloween-themed 12×12 scrapbook page layout
Today I am sharing a fun Halloween tri-fold card with you. (My design was inspired by a swap card I received from JoAnn Pollock.) It starts out closed like this…
The first flap opens this way. And then scroll down to see the fully opened card.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements of extra pieces…
Basic Black Cardstock
4-1/4″ x 11″ scored parallel to the short side at 5-1/2″
2-1/4″ x 6″ scored parallel to the short side at 1/2″
Basic White Cardstock
4″ x 5-1/4″
Cute Halloween Designer Paper (boo design)
4″ x 5-1/4″
Cute Halloween Designer Paper (black design)
2″ x 5-1/2″
Cute Halloween Designer Paper (house design)
4″ x 5-1/4″
Directions…
Cut three small sections from a wire piece from the kit for the stems of the pumpkins.
Cut an orange box down into parts to get 3 taller “oval” sections & 2 shorter six-sided sections. Add black stickers for the faces on all these 5 sections. Sandwich two larger ones back-to-back inserting and adhering a stem. Sandwich two smaller ones back-to-back inserting and adhering a stem
Die-cut the 2-1/4″ x 6 black cardstock with the wavy ‘ground’ die. Die-cut the black patterned designer paper piece into two pieces with the wavy ‘ground’ die (one of mine is taller than the other).
Open the black 4-1/4″ x 11″ card base. Add the white layer and the “boo” designer paper layer as shown above. Connect the wavy cut black paper to the left. The 1/2″ scored section will be the part that connect in the back.
Attach the two sandwiched pumpkins peeking over the top of the wave as shown above. But know that these may need to be adjusted later.
Close the right side over. Add the “house” designer paper, the other pumpkin (that is not double-sided) with its stem, and the skinny black designer paper ground.
Close the left side over. Add the other black designer paper ground. (You may need to adjust the two pumpkins a bit.)
Stamp the sentiment piece, connect it to another tag, add to the front of the card, and add a couple Matte Black Dots to the holes.
I added a gift card on the inside. You could tape it in or use a temporary adhesive (or even cut a slit in the designer paper to make a pocket).
If you enjoyed these cute pumpkins, be sure to visit my September 24th post to see my scrapbook page.
I hope I inspired your creativity with what I shared today! If you did not get this kit, I hope you can apply these ideas to products you already own.

The unique kits like these are the ones that really get my creativity flowing when it comes to alternate projects. And I’m excited to share with you what I have created so far.

But I never assemble my kits as is, because I like to show subscribers other ways to use those supplies. I like to think outside the box…see what else I can come up with, and create alternate cards, scrapbook pages and more. So today I’m sharing with you…

Today is the last day to sign up (or have an active subscription) for Paper Pumpkin so you get in on the next kit titled Haunts & Harvest (see below for more info). So I thought I’d share one more card that I put together with the kit card base that originally challenged me. It was a tough one to change up, because the design was very specific and made to pair up with the large colorful die-cut piece.
But here is what I did. And I’m quite happy with it. It’s simple and uses very few extra supplies.
Extra products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements for extra pieces…
Calypso Coral Cardstock
3/4″ x 3-1/4″ (for left banner)
3/4″ x 3-3/4″ (for right banner)
Directions…
Stamp the large and small butterflies overtop the the purple-pink “shadow” areas. These shadows are butterfly shaped already, so they will fit pretty well inside the stamped image outlines.
Punch one end of each Calypso Coral strip. Then stamp sentiments from the kit stamp set (or from other stamps you have on hand) onto these strips. I used sentiments from A Grand Kid Stamp Set.
Add a sequin to each sentiment strip opposite from the punched ends if you have room.
Attach these to the card front with Dimensionals as shown and trim off any overhanging ends.
Then stamp the small butterfly on the inside to finish off the card.
I made six of these from my two kits so that I could send five of them out with some product to a few of my lucky August 2021 Paper Pumpkin subscribers.
Looking for more ideas? Be sure to check out my other fun alternate projects that I shared on August 21st and on September 2nd. I hope I inspired your creativity with what I shared today! How I doubled the kit by turning the envelopes into more cards
Today I am sharing a birthday-themed 12×12 scrapbook page and a coordinating birthday card with you.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements for the page…
Basic White Cardstock
12″ x 12″
Poppy Parade Cardstock
Three pieces that are 3-5/8″ x 5-1/8″
4-1/8″ x 5-5/8″
Blackberry Bliss Cardstock
Three pieces that are 3-1/2″ x 5″
4″ x 5-1/2″
Directions for the page…
Layer together all the photo mat pieces. Attach the three on the left, but just use the other as a guide for a bit before attaching.
Position that layered photo mat piece, and add the banners so that the orange and yellow sections are outside the border of the page. (To space evenly, add the outer two first. Then add the middle loosely. Add the other two shifting the middle if needed.
Now place the large butterfly upside-down in the lower right section of the page, pull the large layered photo mat piece away, and use Blending Brushes to apply color in and around this “butterfly stencil.” Start with Fresh Freesia. And finish with a bit of Blackberry Bliss through the middle.
Pull the “butterfly stencil” away and adhere that large layered photo mat piece.
Use the dauber to add Poppy Parade ink on the outer edges of the medium size butterfly piece.
Then add this butterfly and a small purple one with the help of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Stamp the title piece onto the back side of one of the blue “hope” labels from the kit. (I used the back side of one that was in German or French.) Add this to the top right of the page with Dimensionals from the kit.
Color a few Rhinestones with the Dark Poppy Parade Marker. Allow to dry.
Then add the sequins from the kit, some of these red rhinestones, and (with the help of Multipurpose Liquid Glue) a couple Flower Flourishes.
Your page is now ready for photos!
Directions for the card…
Use the large butterfly from the kit as a stencil again. (Be sure to use it in the upside-down position. This way by maintaining the original coloring on the front, you can still opt to use the butterfly as intended or in some other way.) Use Blending Brushes and apply Fresh Freesia ink first. Then add a bit of Blackberry Bliss ink through the middle.
Open up the card, run it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Layering Circle Die to cut a window.
Stamp the sentiment through the window. Open the card and stamp the other sentiment below.
Color a couple small Rhinestones with the Dark Bermuda Bay Blends Marker. Allow them to dry.
Add three small butterflies to the inside of the card and the Flower Flourishes in and around the window area of the card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Then add the two small blue Rhinestones.
I hope I inspired your creativity with what I shared today! If you did not get this kit, the refill kit which will be available until supplies last will suffice. Or I hope you can apply these ideas to products you already own.
