It was another late night of chaos, fire, looting, anger, destruction, and fear. And yet I awake at the crack of dawn to the sound of singing birds, shining sun, and the promise of something better. I wish that all of what is happening here in my city was just a bad dream. But the reality is my home is a war zone right now. And I am afraid.
His death was so VERY wrong. What happened to George Floyd, a black man arrested and losing his ability to breathe in broad daylight under the knee of white police officer, Derek Chauvin, is strong evidence that racism is still very much alive. You may not agree with me here, but the video footage is heart wrenching.
Racism is such an unintelligent mindset. It’s irrational if you think about it. Does any of us choose the skin color we are born into? But yet we judge. We hurt. We hate merely because of this one thing. People, we are all human. We are all God’s children. We are all supposed to be brothers and sisters. To be on this earth and think that we are above another is so wrong. And after centuries and generations of the pain and suffering this causes, you’d think we would realize that by now. Where is the Golden Rule? Kindness, respect, saying sorry for hurting another, showing compassion, taking time to listen, compromising,…treating others the way you would wish to be treated.
I usually don’t get religious or political in my blog posts because I respect that there are so many of us that think and feel differently based on our upbringing and what we experience in our lives. And I know that chaos, fire, looting, anger, destruction and fear is happening in many parts of our world on any given day. My blog is a positive place where I share creative paper crafting, greeting cards, scrapbook pages, gifts, etc. AND the occasional news of my family and our joys, celebrations, milestones, travel, etc. It’s a place for positivity and creative, happy inspiration. But right now I reaching out to any of you that can send strong prayers for the healing of my city and the healing of the people I share it with.
It’s become a war zone and there is no control. There doesn’t seem to be any strong, intelligent leadership coming from anywhere. And the helplessness is too immense when we watch the televised reporters/journalists/photographers share footage of this all. I’ve seen videos shared on social media of too many who are adding fuel to this fire simply because they have a place to be out of control and not get caught. God, we need help. So many lives are being affected by this. It’s already hard enough with all that is happening to individual lives and the economy due to that nasty virus. And now this. I am so scared.
I can see that peaceful protesting is lawful and needs to be allowed, but the ones who are out to keep looting and setting things on fire are hiding in the crowds and then by nightfall it’s too late to gain any control. In the meantime we are all losing…all of us. Buildings (businesses, government buildings, and more) are burning to the ground OR now boarding up in the hopes to avoid destruction. And it’s not just the destruction of the property. People’s lives are being destroyed. All of this is literally killing so many of us.
I ask for peace and at the same time I ask for change. I ask for love and I ask for justice. I ask for repair and I ask for leaders who make everyone feel good and safe.
Thank you to those of you who are out there protesting for change peacefully. I respect that and pray that it happens. At the same time, I pray that the destruction our our city, our buildings, our lives will please end today. It’s time for the Golden Rule to shine above all and become the forefront of how we lead our lives going forward. Please love thy neighbor. Please heal our world so that we can live peacefully together despite all of our differences.
This is a photo I found that shows what is happening after nightfall here in Minneapolis, St. Paul and surrounding suburbs.
My friend of 20 years, Simona Boler, has captured the peaceful protests and daytime scenes.
Thank you for allowing me to express my views. I need to wake my children now. Blessings and peace to you.

My oldest son, Nick is going to Disney World with his Jazz Band next year during his 8th grade year. What a fun experience it will be! Thank you to those of you who are using his host code this month when ordering! I am contributing 30% of those sales towards his trip.
Here are the thank you cards that I designed for him to put together, stamp, sign, and send out.
We used the new Garden Lane Designer Paper and kept the design simple so he wouldn’t get worn out helping me make them. ?
Measurements…
Mossy Meadow Cardstock
8-1/2” x 5-1/2” scored at 4-1/4” and folded in half for the card base
Mint Macaron Cardstock
3-1/8″ x 4-1/8″
Scrap for punching leaves
Pear Pizzazz Cardstock
Scrap for punching leaves
Whisper White Cardstock
Two pieces that are 3″ x 4″
Garden Lane Designer Paper
3″ x 3″ (cut diagonally into two pieces)
Mint Macaron Textile Ribbon
Two pieces that are 4-1/2″
Products I used… See below for a complete list of products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Directions…
After cutting the designer paper, adhere it to the top and bottom of one of the Whisper White pieces.
Stamp the sentiment in the middle exposed white area so that the words run parallel to the diagonal cut of the designer paper.
Attach this layer to the Mint Macaron layer.
Wrap the two pieces of ribbon and secure the ends behind with adhesive.
Add this to the front of the card.
Punch the leaves and adhere them as shown tucking the ends under the ribbon.
Then stamp the inside sentiment and attach this Whisper White layer to the inside of the card.
This stamp set has been around for a couple years, but the sentiments were so appropriate for Nick’s thank you cards. This trip will be one of the highlights of his life I’m sure.
We made a few with this darker pattern of paper, too. I like this one best. Which one is your favorite?

The Country Floral Embossing Folder that just debuted on February 15 as a new Sale-a-Bration Level 1 free pick is a favorite of mine! Did you see the beautiful Soft Sea Foam green card that I shared on Monday? I also shared this embossing folder on February 11th featured in my butterfly wedding card. For the card I’m sharing today, I colored all the embossed flowers with the Wink of Stella glitter pen. And I absolutely love the results!
The sentiment comes from the All That You Are stamp set featured in the front of the Occasions Catalog. And do you recognize the die-cut pieces? They are from the Frosted Bouquet Framelits that carried over from the Holiday Catalog. Those framelits coordinate with this All That You Are stamp set. How fun it that?!
Below are the measurements, products and directions if you wish to recreate this card.
Measurements:
Blackberry Bliss Cardstock:
4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″ and folded in half for the card base
Grapefruit Grove Cardstock:
4″ x 5-1/4″
Two pieces that are 1/4″ x 3″
Shimmery White Cardstock:
3″ x 4-1/4″
Scrap for stamping and die-cutting sentiment piece
Gold Foil Sheet:
Scrap for die-cutting the frame
Scrap for die-cutting the branch piece
Vellum Cardstock:
Scraps for die-cutting two clusters of leaves
Products: See below for a full list of supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Directions:
Emboss all three Grapefruit Grove pieces, then color all the flowers with Wink of Stella.
Attach 3″ x 4-1/4″ Shimmery White Cardstock to inside of card with SNAIL. Attach the Grapefruit Grove strips to the 3″ x 4-1/4″ Shimmery White Cardstock using Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Attach the embossed & colored 4″ x 5-1/4″ Grapefruit Grove piece to the front of the card using Dimensionals – one in each corner.
After die-cuttting the Gold Foil branch, then trim into two pieces.
After stamping & die-cutting the sentiment, layer onto Gold Foil die-cut frame piece using Dimensionals. Add SNAIL Adhesive behind the layered sentiment and attach the Gold Foil branch pieces and the Vellum Cardstock leaf clusters.
Attach this whole thing to the front of the card using Dimensionals.

I have some fun cards to share with you – our make-n-take projects from this past Saturday’s Stamp Share put on by my wonderful friend and team leader, Susan Campfield. She designed these make-n-takes, and I absolutely LOVE them! Plus… below are more photos from this amazing event.
The background of this card was created by first inking up one side of the Country Floral embossing folder BEFORE adding the cardstock and sending it through the Big Shot. Isn’t it amazing the effect that you can get? Those flowers really pop! This folder just got added as a free Level 1 Sale-a-Bration product.
These last two pop out cards show off the Painted Seasons Bundle (a new Level 2 Sale-a-Bration pick) and the Four Seasons Framelits Dies (another Sale-a-Bration Coordination product available to all in March). The card base of this larger one measures 4-1/4″ x 9″ folded in half. The inside explosion piece measures 6″ x 6″.
This card base of this smaller one measures 3″ x 8″ folded in half. The inside explosion piece measures 4″ x 4″.
I love that my local Stampers With Art team members can attend this event. And I really love that we broadcast parts of this event in our team Facebook Group so that those in my team who aren’t local can still benefit in some way. Swapping is also an option for everyone. It was fun to see all the swap cards that my team members sent in or brought.
Here are a few more photos of the fun. These first three are pics I took while we were in line for our make-n-takes.
Vicki Bibeau, Maria Gobernatz, and Marciene Ingram…
Beth Ferguson, Anita Dickson, Tricia Josephs and Susan Campfield (in the back left)…
Julie Haugen and me…
And me again with Kayla Cory and Nancy Forsberg (the mother/daughter team from Stamping Bae).
We’d love for you to join our group! If you are interested in

I have more alternate project ideas to share with the January 2019 Be Mine Valentine Paper Pumpkin kit! Sometimes I get on a roll, and I just can’t put a kit aside. Hahaha! I hope you are inspired by these creations. If you didn’t get the January kit, I hope you are still able to apply these ideas to other products you may have on hand.
Rather than writing out all the details & directions for each of these creations, I shared them in my Wednesday’s Facebook Live broadcast. (I also shared upcoming new products that will be available February 15th and March 1st.) Then I uploaded the recorded version of this video to my YouTube channel (since I know not everyone is ON Facebook). Be sure to watch the video (you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog), check out the measurements and full products list below, scroll through the close-up photos of what I created, and then let me know if you have any questions.
Here are close-up photos and the measurements you’ll need if you plan to recreate any of these projects.
FLIP FOLD WECOME BABY CARD
My three versions: With the top two I used the full kangaroo stamp image and matching dies from the coordinating Animal Expedition Suite in my kangroo underneath. In the bottom card I used no dies at all. Instead I used the Sprig Punch, fussy-cut the pouch area from the stamped Kangaroo image, and added it to another kangaroo piece from the kit.
Here are a couple photos I took while making these three cards. I didn’t like the harshness of all black ink, and I didn’t like the softness of all Smoky Slate ink.
I also didn’t like how the die-cut stamped kangaroo didn’t line up with the kangaroo in the kit (totally fine for making other projects, but not good for this flip-fold card where the cut outs needed to be stacked).
So this one (the bottom of the three) ended up being my favorite.
Measurements for card…
