When my new products from the 20-21 Annual Catalog arrived last week, I opened them all up so I could share them during a couple box opening broadcasts. And when I opened the Whale of a Time 6×6 designer paper, I KNEW I had to make one of those 3-Panel Scenery Z-Fold cards! So I gathered up the items from the Whale of a Time Suite (shown below)…
…and I came up with these cards. This turtle one is easiest to make.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
Pacific Point Cardstock
5-1/2” x 8-1/2” scored at 1-1/4” and 4-1/4”
Blackberry Bliss Cardstock
2-1/4″ punched circle
Whisper White Cardstock
1-13/16” (or just over 1-3/4”) x 5-1/4”
Whale of a Time Designer Paper
6” wide x 5-1/4” tall – cut into 3 sections 2-1/4” wide, 1-5/8” wide and 2-1/8” wide
2″ punched circle
Pool Party Sheer Ribbon
19″
Directions…
Stamp sentiment on Whisper White strip.
Tie on ribbon.
Then assemble card by attaching panels in this order: Whisper White strip, left designer paper panel (add while card is closed to make sure it covers the Whisper White strip), right designer paper panel, and then the middle designer paper panel. (Click here to see my how-to video for this type of fold for a little extra direction. Just keep in mind that my measurements for the pieces in the video are a bit different.)
Add the Blackberry Bliss 2-1/4″ circle. Then add the punched turtle designer paper piece.
It’s that easy. AND it shows off those fabulous designer paper scenes.
This second one with the whale is a bit more challenging but oh so fun.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
Basic Black Cardstock
5-1/2” x 8-1/2” scored at 1-1/4” and 4-1/4”
2-1/4″ punched circle
Whisper White Cardstock
1-13/16” (or just over 1-3/4”) x 5-1/4”
2″ punched circle
Whale of a Time Designer Paper
6” wide x 5-1/4” tall – cut into 3 sections 2-1/4” wide, 1-5/8” wide and 2-1/8” wide
2-1/2″ x 3/4″ (cut from the 3/4″ x 6″ piece) scored at 1/2″, 1″, 1-1/2″, and 2″.
Whale image punched from another designer paper piece
Directions…
Stamp sentiment and bubbles on Whisper White circle.
Form the pop-up piece for the whale by folding the small designer strip into a 4-sided tube.
Add the Basic Black 2-1/4″ circle. Then add the sentiment circle piece.
Attach the pop-up 4-sided tube piece so that the two back sides attach to the middle and right designer paper sections of the card. (Make sure the card can open and shut when attaching this piece.)
Then add the whale using a Glue Dot or two on the tail. (Again make sure the card can open and shut when attaching this piece.)

To follow the hop and see other creative project ideas, simply scroll down and click on the names of other hop participants. (If you are receiving this blog post by email, click HERE to see the hop.)
Here is a photo of the intended projects from this month’s kit: 8 full-size (5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″) and 4 note card size (5″ x 3-1/2″) cards – 4 of 3 kinds.
I’ve already shared a few other alternate projects using the contents of this kit on May 20th.
Today I have a fun automobile “Happy Birthday” note card and a coordinating scrapbook page to share.
Products I used for these projects… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
You may have seen a peek at the note card in Paper Pumpkin’s monthly newsletter that was shared yesterday. Well here are the details on how to make it. ?
First I cut Balmy Blue and Basic Black Cardstock scraps with these Garage Gears Dies: four of the gear that is circled (save two for the scrapbook page) and one of the “ovalish” shape (you’ll use half for the card and the other half for the page).
I then lined up my Balmy Blue “ovalish” shape on top of one of the medium clouds from the kit. I drew a light pencil line, cut along that line, and then cut that top piece into two to create the windows of the automobile. (You can use the other side to make a set of windows for the car on the scrapbook page.)
For each of the wheels, I carefully fussy-cut all the way around to make them smooth.
I stuck the wheels and windows on and then added a couple Gold Gilded Gems. I then used the finished automobile as a guide for stamping the road with the medium “U-shaped” stamp on the vellum piece (which also comes in the kit). I used StazOn Ink so it would dry quickly on the vellum. But I made sure to clean off my stamp right away to minimize the staining.
I attached the automobile with Dimensionals. Then I adhered this vellum layer to the note card base using adhesive hidden under the automobile.
To finish it off, I stamped the inside and added more Gilded Gems.
Making my page was similar in many ways, but I used Memento Tuxedo Ink since I wasn’t stamping directly onto vellum. Memento is water-based and cleans off the stamps better.
I started by adding my layered photo mats:
Basic Black Cardstock – three pieces that are 6″ x 4″
Vellum Cardstock – three pieces that are 6-1/4″ x 4-1/4″
After assembling the automobile, I used it as a guide and then stamped my road. On the left I stamped the large “U” first, connected the medium “U” above that, then connected that one to the small “U”. On the right I stamped the medium “U”.
For my vellum banners I placed them where I wanted them (after stamping the road), added the Gilded Gems, then with Glue Dots strategically placed under the vellum where the gems sat, I connected the vellum banners and then added them to my 12×12 Just Jade Cardstock with more hidden Glue Dots.
I added the title piece and the automobile with Dimensionals.
I hope I inspired your creativity with what I shared today!

My Stampers With Art group had some fun with a sketch challenge recently. Have you seen those card (and page) sketches out there? They are just too fun. You get a visual idea of what your creation should become, but you then use the products you have on hand to make it come alive. Here is the sketch challenge we used: Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #264.
And here are some of the cards we came up with. I hope these ideas provide some creative inspiration for you! Those that made each card are mentioned in the watermarks of the photos. A big thank you to all of the creators! The one I made is at the bottom along with my measurements, tips and supply list.
Here is the one I made with the By the Dock Bundle (stamps and dies). As some of you know, my parents live on a lake in Northern Minnesota, so I HAD to get this bundle. I love it, but I hadn’t created much with it until now. So you can imagine how happy I was when I discovered that the stamps and dies are carrying over into the new catalog. (If you are considering getting these, you should order them now though while they are being offered at a bundle so you can save 10%. The bundle offer is not carrying over.)
If you would like to recreate this card, here are some details below.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
Basic Black Cardstock
4-1/4″ x 11″ scored parallel to the short edge at 5-1/2″
Seaside Spray Cardstock
4-1/4″ x 4″
3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″
Basic Gray Cardstock
4-1/4″ x 3″
Smoky Slate Cardstock
Scrap for stamping and die-cutting boat
Vellum Cardstock
2″ x 3″
Scrap for punching 2″ diameter circle
Silver Foil Sheets
Scrap for die-cutting two 2-1/4″ long oars
Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon
5-1/2″
Tips…
Measure one inch up on the right side of the 4-1/4″ wide Seaside Spray piece and the 4-1/4″ wide Basic Gray piece. Cut diagonally from that point to the bottom left corner. Emboss the Basic Gray, then cut a one inch strip from the top.
Attach the Basic Gray embossed strip to the ribbon, attach this to the Seaside Spray piece about 3/4″ from the top. Wrap the ribbon ends to the back of the Seaside Spray piece. Then add the vellum banner and the Basic Gray angled piece before attaching the front of the Basic Black card base.
Position the stamped vellum circle where it will be. Then attach the rhinestones and the bottom oar to the vellum. Remove from the card, then add Glue Dots to the back where they will be hidden behind the rhinestone and oar.
I hope this sketch challenge inspired you to try a layout of your own.

When the new Ornate Garden Suite became available, I created quite a few cards. One of my favorites was this one.
I wanted the raised flowers in the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder to really stand out. So I inked up the background side of the folder before inserting the Mango Melody cardstock and embossing. And I loved the results!
I created a few more versions of this card using other colors, and then I demonstrated this card in my latest Online Paper Crafting Class on Facebook this past Wednesday. Then I uploaded the recording of this class onto my YouTube channel (since I know not everyone is ON Facebook) and shared it here in my blog post. Be sure to watch the video (you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog), scroll through the close-up photos, check out the products list below (keeping in mind that some of these products will be leaving soon), and then let me know if you have any questions.
I hope you enjoyed what I shared in this video. Below are measurements, close-up photos, and a product list for this Impressed Color card I demonstrated.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store. (Some of these products are retiring soon: Painted Glass Stamp Set, Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins, and 3D Embossing Folder Plate.)

ORNATE GARDEN MEGA TUTORIAL BUNDLE I took part in a mega tutorial bundle group where everyone involved contributed a project tutorial using products in the newly released Ornate Garden Suite. Each project includes instructions, photos, imperial and metric measurements, and complete product lists. Click here to learn how you can get this entire bundle of 90 great ideas.
After making this adorable and unique diagonal-lidded box, I decided to challenge myself and adjust the measurements to eliminate wasted paper and cardstock – basically to make this box more doable for a class setting or for someone who wants to make several of them for wedding favors, party gifts, etc. Julie’s box measures 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ x 1-3/8″. My version measures 2-3/8″ x 2-3/8″ x 1″.
After adjusting the measurements, I then used this project idea as a team make-n-take in my February Stampers With ART online gathering and presented these two versions.
I already shared one of those versions (the one with the Lily Impressions designer paper) on March 29th along with its measurements, a product list, and the promise to share a how-to tutorial video soon. Woo hoo! The video is now ready as you will see below! And the second one I shared with my team is shown below in more detailed photos. (I used the Poppy Parade designer paper for that one.)
I made two more smaller boxes using the super festive Birthday Bonanza designer paper, images from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set, and some heat embossing. I demonstrated one of these in my latest Online Paper Crafting Class on Facebook this past Wednesday. Then I uploaded the recording of this class onto my YouTube channel (since I know not everyone is ON Facebook) and shared it here in my blog post. Be sure to watch the video (you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog), scroll through the close-up photos, check out the products list below, and then let me know if you have any questions.
I hope you enjoyed what I shared in this video. Below are measurements, close-up photos, and a product list for the Birthday Bonanza box I demonstrated.
