I was so excited when I saw Julie Dimatteo’s (Paper Pixie’s) Diagonal-Lidded Gift Box, that I had to recreate one. (Thanks Julie! Loved your box!) Click here to see Julie’s video. Her box is a great size for those Ferrero Rocher candies (2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ x 1-3/8″)!
When I finished making her version that she shared in her video, I put my math brain to work to re-adjust the measurements and get the most from single sheets of designer paper and cardstock. (I’ve taught classes for so long that I always try to create with very little waste and with “making multiples” in mind. Plus this became one of my team make-n-takes last month.) With my measurements below you can get 3 sets of lid pieces from one sheet of 12″ x 12″ designer paper and 4 box bases from one sheet of 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock. And when this smaller box is assembled it measures 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ x 1″.
I plan to make a video for these this week. Ta-da! Is is not adorable!?
But I needed to show you this one today since it’s made from Sale-a-Bration products which will no longer be available come April 1st. In fact I’m surprised that the Lily Impressions designer paper isn’t already sold out! Yay! So if you want to recreate my box, you’ll want to get your hands on these Sale-a-Bration freebies before they disappear: the Lily Impressions Designer Paper, Lovely Lily Pad Stamp Set, and the Lily Pad Dies.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
- Lily Impressions Designer Paper (be aware of any directional pattern)
- Two pieces that measure 5-3/4″ x 3-3/8″
- score each parallel to the long side at 1″
- score each parallel to the short side 2-3/8″ from each end
- Two pieces that measure 5-3/4″ x 3-3/8″
- Highland Heather Cardstock
- 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″
- score just under 1″ (15/16″) on all four sides
- 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″
These boxes take a bit of time to make, but they would be perfect for those special little gifts: to thank bridesmaids, for Spring or Easter treats, for a birthday, to thank someone special…
