We’ve always enjoyed Halloween at our house, so this past month’s Paper Pumpkin kit was a super fun one for me. I loved the cute character cut-outs and stamp set images. (Oh those spiders!!) So I got to creating right when my kit arrived in my mailbox. The bummer part was with all the other events I had going on in September it took me until today to finally get these ideas on my blog to share with you! I did participate in the blog hop last week, but I alway share so much more!
Here is what came in this past month’s September 2018 Paper Pumpkin kit, Frights & Delights.
Watch my video first to get to get measurements, directions, and tips. Then scroll down to see close-up photos, links for more information shared in the video, and a list of extra supplies (linked to my online store) mentioned or used to make my creations.
Here are the bags that the kit instructs how to make. The kit makes eight of each of these for a total of 24 treat bags.
Here are close-up photos of the projects I shared in my video above.

Halloween is one of my husband’s favorite time of year. I remember before we had kids we had high hopes of decorating elaborately and hosting a grand Halloween party every year. It hasn’t happened yet. But who knows…maybe someday.
So this came to mind when I saw this kit…fun party invites! I haven’t shown this idea to my husband yet, but what do you think? Would you come if you got this invitation in the mail? 😉
If you wish to recreate this z-fold card with your kit contents, follow the measurements and directions below.
Measurements of extra products:
Whisper White Cardstock:
8-1/2 x 11 printed on from a document you set up on your computer, then cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″
Basic Black Cardstock:
11″ x 4-1/4″ scored at 2-3/4″ and 5-1/2″
Three 4″ long strips torn on the top edge (my strips are 4″ wide x about 1″ tall)
Gorgeous Grape Cardstock:
4″ x 5-1/4″
Extra Stampin’ Up! Products I Used: See below for a full list of extra supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Directions:
Color the white side of the silver pumpkin backing layer with the Dark Basic Black Blends marker. Then attach to pumpkin (the white side up) using Dimensions cut in half.
Add small rhinestones in the eyes. Set aside.
Layer torn strips together to create a “ground” for the cemetery.
Cut bag label at the score line and stamp images on the white side to create a tombstone look.
Attach ground and tombstone, then adhere to the Gorgeous Grape cardstock about 1″ up from the bottom.
Stamp sentiment in the bottom right corner.
Attach pumpkin with SNAIL and bat with a Dimensional.
Fold card base into a “z-fold” and attach Gorgeous Grape layer (adhesive just on the back of the top half) and the printed Whisper White layer. Then add the “spooky” sticker.
Even if you aren’t planning to host a party, this card layout is still a fun one to send to a friend. Just turn it into a Happy Halloween card or a birthday card for someone with a late October birthday.
If you do plan to decorate to get into the Halloween spirit, another idea I had was to attach the kit characters to the inside of lamp shades. How fun is this?
Notice the spider webs on the top of the lamp? I planned that!
(Just kidding. I guess I miss some spots when I clean my house. How embarrassing.)

Here is another one of the four make-n-takes featuring new 2018 Holiday Catalog products that my Stampers With ART Stars made during the last Online Team Event on August 22nd. This one is a gusseted bag/box (or at least that’s what I’m calling it) decorated up with the Toil & Trouble Designer Paper and images from the Spooky Sweets Stamp Set. The box part inside has only four sides, but the bag makes up for the other two.
Here are the fronts of the two versions I made.
Here are the backs.
And here are a couple angled shots. You can really fit a lot of candy in these!
Here are the details if you wish to make one (or more!) yourself.
Measurements:
Basic Black Cardstock:
two pieces 2-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ each scored at 2-3/4″ and 4-3/4″
scrap for punching out bats
Whisper White Cardstock:
scrap for stamping & punching out bats
scrap for stamping & punching out sentiment
Crushed Curry Cardstock: scrap for punching out scallop circle
Toil & Trouble Designer Paper:
2-3/8″ x 2-3/8″
scrap with a coordinating hat
Products: See below for a full list of supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Directions:
After cutting and scoring both pieces of Basic Black, fold on the score lines and connect together to form the four sided box. The beauty of this is it can flatten so it’s easy to add into the bag later AND it can be easily be decorated.
Stamp the sentiment onto Whisper White scrap. Punch this out with 1-1/4″ Circle Punch. Punch 1-3/8″ Scallop Circle from Crushed Curry scrap. Layer together, add a Dimensional on the back, and set aside.
Stamp the bats onto the other Whisper White scrap. Punch these out with the Spooky Bats Punch.
Die-cut a hat from the pre-printed hat pattern in the pack of designer paper. Add the hat and bats onto the back side of the box. Use Dimensionals if you wish.
Punch out another set of bats from the Basic Black scrap. Attach the smallest on to the Library clip using a Glue Dot. Attach the other two and the layered sentiment piece to the 2-3/8″ x 2-3/8″ designer paper. (To get the look of 3 bats, cut one bat in half and just add the wings coming in from the sides. Trim off any excess.)
Then attach this designer paper to the front of the box.
Place it inside the gusseted bag adding the treats within as you slide it inside the bag.
Close and fold over the top section of the bag. Clip shut. And wait to give it to that special trick-or-treater on Halloween.
Did you see the other make-n-takes that I shared on September 9th and on September 12th? I’ll share the last of the four soon. Thanks for stopping by!

We have an fabulous set of dies in our new 2018 Holiday Catalog called Takeout Thinlits. One die in the set (cut two times) creates an adorable little treat box that is sized to 2-1/8″ x 1-3/4″ x 2″ tall (5.4 x 4.4 x 5.1 cm), and it looks like a mini Chinese takeout box.
…I decided to try making another Halloween character. And with the help of the Spooky Bats Punch, I came up with this fun little Jack-o-lantern!
Here are the details if you wish to make one (or more!) yourself.
Measurements:
Pumpkin Pie Cardstock: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
Basic Black Cardstock: small scrap for punching out bats
Garden Green Cardstock: small scrap for punching out bats
Basic Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon: ~5″
Products: See below for a full list of supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Directions:
Die-cut the box die two times and assemble the box by first overlapping then connecting the bases with Tear & Tape Adhesive. Put a small strip of Tear & Tape on each of the four tabs. Pull up the sides and connect them together with the tabs. Shut the top side flaps, then shut the top main flaps by sliding them together.
Sponge the edges of the box with Pumpkin Pie ink.
Punch out the leaves, curl them a bit with the Bone Folder, and add to the top of the box (on the flap closest to the side that will become the front) with a Glue Dot.
Tie the ribbon in a knot. Then add this with a Glue Dot on top of the Glue Dot of the leaves. Trim the ends.
Punch out the bats. Then insert the punch again onto the side to punch just the scallop edge of the medium bat. Shift it up, and punch this scallop edge again about an 1/8″ from where you first punched. This will be the Jack-o-lantern’s mouth! 🙂
Now use your Paper Snips to trim the largest bat into five sections as shown below. The two outer pieces will be the eyes, and the middle one will be the nose! (Cute, huh?! I’m pretty proud of myself. LOL)
Attach these to the front of the box using Glue Dots and/or Fine Tip Glue.
Fill with a Halloween or harvest treat and gift to someone special.
Here are just a few of the pumpkins I made. Amazing how just moving the pieces makes the face look so different.
I also used this punch art for the faces on a couple other treats that I shared on September 6th.
These takeout treat boxes were one of the four make-n-takes featuring new 2018 Holiday Catalog products that my Stampers With ART Stars made during the last Online Team Event on August 22nd. We sure have fun in our group! I demonstrate these projects for them during that event by broadcasting live in our Facebook group. That way those that get the supplies from me and want to make them along with me can.
Did you see the other make-n-take that I shared on September 9th? The other two of the four I’ll share soon.
I also shared about our new house guest on September 9th…On a “spur of the moment” decision to help our neighbors, we took in their cat on Saturday evening to “foster it” until they could find someone who would want him. Well, the boys and I were thrilled that 24 hours later my husband announced that he was on board with the idea of keeping Riff Raff for good, too!
So right away I went out and got a few things to make our new family member feel more at home.
Our new, almost-three-year-old cat is a sweetheart and has taken to our house with no problem. We plan to give him a new name (our neighbors said that would be fine, and they are thrilled that we have him for good), but we haven’t decided on one yet. Let me know if you have any ideas.

Need a last-minute kid’s treat for Halloween? How about a box monster with bulging eyeball lollipops?!
Our Mini Pizza Boxes paired with some fun eyeball suckers make adorable little smiling monsters. And who says you have to fill the inside of boxes with treats? With these monsters the treats are on the outside instead.
The eyeball lollipops are creepy by themselves but so cute when presented in this way. LOL!
I found the eyeball lollipops at our local grocery store. But if you “google” them, you can find them online. Being that I have two boys ages 10 and 12, I knew I had to get them. And then when I added them to the Mini Pizza Boxes…?! LOL
Measurements:
Basic Black cardstock: 8-1/2″ x 2-1/2″
Colored cardstock to match eyes: scrap large enough to stamp and punch out the sentiment
Whisper White cardstock: 7/16″ (just under a 1/2″) x at least 3-1/2″ strip
Real Red 1/8″ Solid Ribbon: ~33-36″
Directions:
Use the Handheld 1/8″ Circle Punch, come in from each corner of the box cover, and punch two circular areas (punch a few times to make a circular area just under 1/4″ in diameter) just large enough for the lollipops to hold in snug. (When the box is closed, the angle of the lollipop sticks should help to hold them in place, too.)
Close the box. Then wrap a strip of Basic Black cardstock around and secure with Tear & Tape Adhesive on the underside forming a “belly band.” If you plan to fill the box with a note or more treats, be sure that this belly band can slide off and on.
Stamp the sentiment image onto a cardstock color of your choice, then punch. (I used colors that coordinated best with the eyeballs – Marina Mist, Lemon Lime Twist, Sweet Sugarplum and Real Red. See below for a visual product list.)
Stamp “Trick or Treat” onto the Whisper White cardstock strip and attach to the center of the punched colored cardstock label. Then turn this upside-down, line it up in the punch again, and punch to trim up the white cardstock strip.
Wrap the ribbon around the belly band three times and tie in a knot or a bow off to the side.
Attach the label piece to the top on the box monster using Dimensionals.
The opening tab area of the box makes a perfect little smiling mouth!
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because it’s so fun to see my kids get excited to dress up in costume, help decorate, and carve pumpkins. I have a couple boards on Pinterest just for Halloween ideas, for Halloween cards. But not everything is there. Be sure to glance through my catalog boards, too. Check out my 2017 Holiday Catalog board and my 2017-18 Annual Catalog board for the newest project ideas.
AND…During the entire month of October, select packs of Designer Paper are part of a Buy 3, Get 1 Free special! Click here for that flyer. (Oh! The stamp sets that are 15% off on the World Card-Making Day flyer coordinate with paper packs that are part of this Buy 3, Get 1 Free special. How cool is that?!)
