#APaperPumpkinThing Welcome to our monthly APPT blog hop! This time we are highlighting the May 2023 Exploring In ColorPaper Pumpkin kit. I created 18 alternate cards with the contents of this kit. The first set of three cards are z-folds and show off more of the printed card designs. The second set of 15 cards share how you can QUINTUPLE the cards from the kit by just adding black & white cardstock and some coordinating 2023-25 In Color Dots.
See what I have to share. Then check out all the other blogs in the hop for additional creative ideas my fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator friends shared. To follow the hop and see these other creative project ideas, simply scroll down and click on the names of the other hop participants. (If you are receiving this blog post by email, click HERE to see the hop.)
Here are the cards the kit instructs how to make. (Click here for a link to Stampin’ Up!’s how-to video to help you assemble these as intended.)
I usually share lots more project ideas soon after my kit arrives. This would’ve been around the 22nd of last month. But I was in Europe for 2 weeks, got back late on the 28th, slept and unpacked the whole next day, and then got sick 😢. It feels weird not to have done a video of alternates with this kit. But I hope those of you who follow my Paper Pumpkin shares will forgive me this month. Gosh! And such a great kit! I know I could’ve created more. But this is what I DID design…
Z-Fold cards! Hello…the back sides of the kit card bases are just too pretty to have hidden.
By opening the card bases up all the way, adding additional score lines 2-1/8″ in, and folding a bit differently, these z-folds show it ALL off.
Be sure to not overdo the extras around the sentiment sections, too. I omitted these pieces.
Here is the first card.
The only extra product I added outside of the kit was the Brushed Brass Butterflies. Can you find them?
To write a message, flip the card over. When I first saw this design, I was worried for those in the tent, but then I noticed the gulch or ravine. Phew! 😆
This is the second one.
The butterflies are easier to see on this one.
This design is my favorite because I love to canoe.
And this is the third.
Those butterflies are one of my favorite sets of embellishments. I highly recommend them.
I hope you enjoyed these.
For the second set of cards I used the supplies of three kit cards and three kit envelopes, cut them into smaller pieces, rearranged things, and added the pieces to Basic White and Basic Black cardstock. This is what you can prepare for one set of 15.
Measurements for the first 12 cards
Basic White Cardstock
(12) 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored parallel to the short side at 4-1/4″
(12) 2-3/8″ punched circles
Basic Black Cardstock
(24) 1/2″ x 5-1/2″
Kit card bases – each cut into 4 vertical sections
Measurements for the other 3 cards
Basic Black Cardstock
(3) 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
Kit envelopes – sides cut off to make them 5-1/2″ wide…and then cut a bit of the flaps off and cut just below the designs
Here are the results of the first twelve.
The black strips of cardstock are added under the sides of each scenery strip. And the sentiment circles are added with Dimensionals.
And the 2023-25 In Color Dot embellishments are simple to add, and add just the right amount of shine. I used 3 per card.
Here are the results of the last three. These are made from the envelopes that are trimmed up and wrapped over and attached to the Basic Black base pieces.
This is what they look like on the back.
And this is what they look like open. The inside 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ white layers are cut from the remaining envelope paper.
These close up photos show that I used the extra envelope flaps for a couple of the sentiment piece accents. This Happy Birthday one is trimmed about 3/4″ from the right end, separated a bit, and then connected with the binoculars.
I hope I inspired your creativity with what I shared today! If you did not get this kit, I hope you can apply these ideas to products you already own.

I received my April 2023 All the Little Things Paper Pumpkin monthly subscription kit on Monday late afternoon. So I decided to share my first set of alternate project ideas in this week’s Live recording like I did last month (and the month before).
This is what comes in the kit. If you were to make the cards based on the directions, you would get 9 cards total (3 of 3 designs).
But I changed up the supplies to get double the amount of cards! Yay! AND each card is a bit special…stepped up a bit. In my videos below (Parts 1 and 2) I share all 6 of these cards – four in the first video and 2 in the second. Even if you didn’t get this kit, I hope the ideas I share can be applied to other products you own and inspire your creativity!

#APaperPumpkinThing Welcome to our monthly APPT blog hop to showcase Paper Pumpkin kit alternate projects! This time we are highlighting the March 2023 Ten Years of GrowthPaper Pumpkin kit. Here are the cards the kit instructs how to make. (Click here for a link to Stampin’ Up!’s how-to video to help you assemble these as intended.)
I’ve already shared some other alternate projects using the contents of this kit on March 22nd.
Two fun fold cards (a Faux Dog-Eared card and a Tucked Gate Fold card)
And a 12×12 scrapbook page layout
Plus I copied one of the samples on the back of the kit’s direction pamphlet and shared it in my video that day. (It’s much more stunning in the video than on the back of the direction pamphlet.)
Today I am sharing…
A “Happy Spring” home decor banner
It’s been awhile since I’ve made a banner. But I had so much fun with this that I’m hooked!
I used one of each of the kit card bases. I cut them each in half. Then I cut them each in half again – except the two more decorated card front pieces – to get 10 panels. The two larger ones are on the ends of the banner to frame it.
I used a lot of gold trim…4 feet for the main strand that runs through the “loops” on the back of each piece & eleven 3″ pieces to create the knots between each panel. (The “loops” are from the envelope paper.)
Since I didn’t need to mail these pieces as cards anymore, I used the three extra envelopes for die-cutting the S P R I N and G letters, creating some 3/4″-wide mini banners for the top of the “happy” panel, and for making the “loops” on the back of each panel.
They aren’t really loops. I guess they are just folded pieces of paper. But the gold trim runs through them.
Each “loop” is the same width as the panel it’s behind. And they are all 2″ in the other direction folded in half and glued shut just at the ends. Once that’s done, glue the “loop” to the upper back side of the panel.
When you die-cut the letters, alternate them so the colors within the letters will vary. This is how I set them up. After cutting the letters from the envelope flap, cut them from Foam Adhesive Sheets and connect them. OR…better yet. Add the Foam Adhesive to the back of the envelope flap and cut all at once. Hahaha! Wish I would’ve done this. But I didn’t know I was going to raise them up and give them more dimension until after I had already cut them from the envelope flap alone.
I put thin Dimensional pieces behind parts of the gold happy to raise it and give it a bit of shadow. The plant pots on the two outer panels are also added with Dimensionals. I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to add all the foliage.
The panels with the letters are decorated with gold 1/8″ wide strips cut from the kit scraps that are placed about 1″ from the bottom edges, the letters (of course), leaves (the purple ons from the kit and some punched from the envelope flaps with the Bough Punch), and some Brushed Brass Butterflies.
I couldn’t keep the banner on the kitchen cupboards and moved it down to my office for now. But I’ll find it a home soon. It makes me happy when I look at it!
I hope I inspired your creativity with what I shared today! If you did not get this kit, I hope you can apply these ideas to products you already own.

I just received my March 2023 Ten Years of Growth Paper Pumpkin monthly subscription kit on Monday afternoon, so I decided to share my first set of alternate project ideas in this week’s Live recording like I did last month.
This anniversary kit which celebrates 10 years of Paper Pumpkin kits (hence the name of the kit) contained the supplies shown below to make nine “plantastic” cards (3 of 3 designs).
As many of you know I never assemble my kits as is, because I love to create and I enjoy sharing other ways to use those kit supplies. I like to think outside the box…see what else I can come up with, and make alternate cards, scrapbook pages and more. So today I’m sharing with you…
Two fun fold cards (a Faux Dog-Eared card and a Tucked Gate Fold card)
And a 12×12 scrapbook page layout
Plus I copied one of the samples on the back of the kit’s direction pamphlet.
Because the 22nd fell on a Wednesday again (the day I do my Lives) and because my kit just arrived on Monday, I decided to combine my first set of Paper Pumpkin alternates AND my Wednesday Live Online Paper Crafting Class again this month. Normally my Paper Pumpkin alternate videos are pre-recorded so I can edit out mistakes and speed up slow parts. So preparation for this Live took some extra organization.
Watch my video first by clicking here to get to get measurements, directions, and tips (or you can just click on this image below if you are already in my blog post). Scroll down to see close-up photos, access the links that I mentioned in my video, and see a list of extra supplies (linked to my online store) that I used to make my creations. Then be sure to visit my blog again soon, because I have many more alternate projects that I’ll be sharing on April 7th.
Here are the cards the kit instructs how to make. (Click here for a link to Stampin’ Up!’s how-to video to help you assemble these as intended.)
And here are close-up photos of the alternate projects I made and shared in my video. (Remember to watch my video first to get measurements, tips and directions.) A big thank you to Maria Friedman & Silvia Werner for inspiring my two fun-fold cards!

Measurements for photo mats: three that are 4-1/8″ x 5-1/2″ (the size of the two side plant decor layers), three that are 3-5/8″ x 5-1/2″, and one that is 3-1/4″ x 4-1/8″. Measurements for title strip sections: two that are 2-1/8″ x 5-1/2″ overlapped to create a 2-1/8″ x 10-1/4″ strip.
See? I basically just took the kit card layouts into the page.

#APaperPumpkinThing Welcome to our monthly APPT blog hop to showcase Paper Pumpkin kit alternate projects! This time we are highlighting the “Sunshine & Smiles” February 2023 Paper Pumpkin kit. Here are the cards the kit instructs how to make. (Click here for a link to Stampin’ Up!’s how-to video to help you assemble these as intended.)
I’ve already shared some other alternate projects using the contents of this kit on February 22nd.
A tri-fold window card (a fun-fold card)
And how I turned the three different kit cards into eight (more than doubling the cards you can make from the kit contents)
Today I am sharing…
An adorable mini album (great for a gift!)
AND… a simple set of refrigerator magnets
Yes! It’s a simple idea. By adding magnets to the back sides, you can make fun scenes on your refrigerator. And what a great activity for young kids (or bored teenagers hanging out in the kitchen).
I used business card magnets with Stampin’ Up!’s Foam Adhesive Sheets. I peeled the backing off one of the magnets, stuck it to a sticky side of a similar size piece of Foam Adhesive Sheet, and then trimmed it into pieces that fit each of the kit pieces.
By using the Foam Adhesive Sheets, the added height makes it easier to grab the character and move it.
Here is the next project idea. I received a mini album as a gift from my friend and fellow demonstrator, Luanne Peterson. So I used that layout from hers as inspiration for this one I’m sharing today. The layout is similar with slightly different measurements to maximize the use of the 12×12 cardstock base.
Measurements…
Balmy Blue Cardstock
12″ x 12″ scored in one direction at 5″ and 10″ and then scored in the other direction at 3-3/4″, 3-15/16″, 7-3/4″ and 8-1/8″
Larger layers (from the kit cards and the Rain or Shine Designer Paper)
3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″
Smaller white layers (from the envelopes)
1-7/8″ x 3-5/8″
Basic Black Cardstock
optional…these 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ pieces are just in there to represent photos in the windows
Piece wrapped around the outside when closed (from an envelope)
cut as directed below
Balmy Blue and White Variegated Ribbon
25″
Most of the products come from the kit, but there are a few extras.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
After scoring the Balmy Blue 12″ x 12″ Cardstock, remove the skinny strip sections. Below is a visual of the scores and cut out sections.
Add the layers. The strips along the bottom of the white sections are just leftovers that I had after cutting the card bases down to size. Photos can be added to the top of the solid layers and…
…underneath the window layers. I used the glue dots in the kit just at the very top of the window layers.
To cut the window layers so the windows are centered, trim the card base at 3-15/16″ as shown below. Then flip and trim at 3-5/8″. Then trim off a little over a quarter inch (5/16″) from each of the other two ends.
To cut the wrapped outside piece (from one of the envelopes), trim 7/16″ (just under 1/2″) from each of the two sides. Then without opening the envelope and with the bottom closed edge lined up at 4-1/8″ mark on your trimmer, cut the excess off as shown below.
Open it up and now line up the straight edge at the 3-3/4″ mark and score to give you a second score line. Add this after all the inside layers are completed and after you’ve stamped the sun image. So when ready, fold up the completed album, tie on the ribbon, wrap and glue on this piece, untie the ribbon so that it’s flat under the layer when drying, add the final embellishment pieces, and re-tie the ribbon when dry.
Here is a walk through now of the album closed and what it looks like as it opens up.
(By the way, I used one of each of the different card bases, an extra yellow card base, and two pieces of designer paper for the 10 larger layers.)
Here is a look at the inside fully open.
And here is a look at it when it’s flipped over.
Thanks for seeing what I had to share. I hope these ideas inspired your creativity!
