I can’t stop creating with this month’sPaper Pumpkin kit! And a couple days ago I came up with two Bridge Fold Cards that I couldn’t wait to share with all of you.
The pieces from this kit with the surf board and beach umbrella are perfect for front bridge pieces.
And the 3-1/2″ wide scenery pieces fit perfectly in the indented areas of these type of fun fold cards!
If you did not get this kit or have already used up all the consumables, consider getting the refill kit. Refill kits have everything but the stamps and ink. Or…I hope you can apply these ideas to products you already own.

Measurements for extra pieces…
Base cardstock (Basic White Thick or Crumb Cake)
4-1/4″ x 7-1/2″ scored parallel to the short side in on each end at 1″ and 2″
Sentiment strip on surfboard card (Crumb Cake)
1/2″ x 2-1/4″
More Dazzle Specialty Paper on surfboard card (champagne)
(2)n3/8″ x 4-1/4″
I used two scenery pieces per card but the measurements aren’t the same for each design. The scenery pieces on this umbrella card worked perfectly to fill up the whole Basic White background.
I trimmed just a sliver off the left side of one so it would fit nicely in the center back.
Then I cut the second scenery piece into four equal pieces that were 7/8″ wide and attached everything as shown. OH! And I stamped and fussy cut a sun then added it to the middle panel with a Dimensional.
I collapsed the right side into a flat z-fold to make the card base 5-1/2″ wide. Then I attached the 5-1/2″ wide umbrella piece to the bottom right corner and bottom left corner of the card base. You can see in this photo below the bottom right already attached AND how the bottom left will line up when I flatten everything down.
And in these next three photos you can see how it all came together. The card folds flat in either direction so it fits into an envelope. AND it can stand up on display.
I stamped a sentiment on the sign and added that piece with Dimensionals. I also glued down the sunglasses, the shovel & left side of the sand bucket, and the left part of the umbrella.
Here is the second version of this card.
Again…I trimmed just a sliver off the left side of one so it would fit nicely in the center back. But I didn’t want to have two suns showing. So I cut 1/2″ wide strip from each end. Then I cut two more 7/8″ wide strips from the left side of what remained.
To fill in the gaps I added strips of champagne colored More Dazzle Specialty Paper.
I stamped “sending an ocean of love” across the top. Then I added the surfboard piece the same way I added the umbrella piece in the first card.
I inked up just the word “sunshine” from the “hello, sunshine” stamp, stamped it on the right side of the Crumb Cake strip, hand-wrote the word “and”, trimmed it at an angle, and added it to the lower right front of the card with Dimensionals.
Lastly I added the chair and a starfish with Dimensionals. And I glued on the pink shell.

Of course I want to make another bridge fold card now with the palm tree scenery piece and palm trees, but that will have to wait. Our house guests from Vienna are going to arrive at any moment!! (And I’ll share more about that later.)

US BACK-TO-SCHOOL SALES TAX HOLIDAY
Thirteen states and Puerto Rico are offering a sales tax holiday for school supplies during the months of July, August, or September. Products that are eligible according to the statute include “items normally used by students in a standard classroom for educational purposes.” To see the names of participating states, products exempted from tax, and sales tax holiday dates 2023 Tax Holiday spreadsheet here. If you want to get in on the tax holiday, you must place your order with Stampin’ Up! during the tax holiday period in order to receive these items tax-free (which is midnight on the first day to midnight on the last day of the tax holiday). Also, keep in mind that this is a state sales tax holiday; the state statute may not apply to county, city, and special jurisdiction taxes.
I received my July 2023 Fun In The Sun Paper Pumpkin monthly subscription kit this past Wednesday evening. So I took time to create on Thursday night and Friday morning and came up with lots of alternate project ideas. I was so excited to show many of them to you as soon as possible that I demonstrated my instructions, tips and techniques in a Live broadcast that took place just a couple hours before this blog post was released. Maybe you were with me?! (Lives are much quicker than recording and doing all the editing. And I’ve become addicted to the ease! Just keep in mind that mistakes can happen and these recordings are not as scripted and as perfect.)
These are the supplies that came in the July kit. If you were to make the cards based on the directions, you would get 9 cards total (3 of 3 designs).
But I changed up the supplies from my kit to create variations of the actual kit cards AND a few other ideas. And I shared my tips and directions for all of them in my video. Even if you didn’t get this kit, I hope the ideas I shared can be applied to other products you own and inspire your creativity!

Shown below are the beautiful cards the June 2023 Welcome Inn kit made (as per the included kit instructions)…
I like to think outside the box with kits though. I don’t create the intended projects. Instead I change up the supplies and create new ideas. The ones I’ve created with this June kit can be found on my blog on June 23rd and on July 7th. I have one more project idea for you today though.
I usually create a page or page layout with every kit, but I didn’t finish this one in time to share on July 7th. Just like the card and hospitality thank you gift shared that day, this page has strips of patterned papers placed either side-by-side or at right angles from each other. You’ll want to look back on that post for details and progression photos for building the strips design.

5″ (cut down the center for one narrow ribbon)
Refer to the tips on the July 7th post for tips on building the strips design on the Boho Blue Cardstock. Once that design is done and the extra ends from the strips are trimmed up, attach the Basic White 1/2″ x 12″ strips so they are peeking out the top and bottom edges. Then adhere this to the 12″ x 12″ Navy base about 1-1/2″ from the bottom edge.
Stamp the floral border 1/2″ in along the bottom and a couple times in from the left at the top.
Use Daubers to add Balmy Blue and Calypso Coral ink to add shading to the white sides of two vases from the kit. Punch leaf shapes. Attach a few so they appear to be coming out the top of these pots. Add Dimensionals to the back sides of the leaves, pots and photo frame pieces (one in each corner is plenty). Then add all of these to the page.
Tie a bow with the narrow ribbon. Use a Glue Dot to add the bow to the tallest pot. Embellish that area with Iridescent Pearls.
Tuck and adhere with Multipurpose Liquid Glue a couple more punched leaves under the left corner of the square photo mat.
Cut the two remaining lengths of ribbon at angles that match to coral kit banner. Then attach with a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive from the kit going down the middle of the banner. Trim off the excess ribbon, attach to the page with Seal. Then add a few Iridescent Pearls.
That’s it. 🙂 I ran out of time. But if you want to make a full layout (a matching page), I recommend repeating the strip background and either doing a reverse of the other elements and have everything symmetrical OR have some of the same extra elements but positioned a bit differently (maybe a wider horizontal photo mat instead of square and one or three vases instead of two placed a little lower). I added no page title or journaling. But my thinking is that I’ll die-cut some words in white from the Alphabet a la Mode dies.

I’ve already shared some other alternate projects using the contents of this kit on June 23rd – seven unique cards from the supplies of three, the Bough Punch, and a bit of extra cardstock. Today I am sharing a thank you card & coordinating gift. Both of them have a base design built from strips of patterned papers placed either side-by-side or at right angles from each other. Let’s start with the card.

This is a fun pattern to make when you have left over strips from other projects. The strips can be the same width or vary as mine have. You can place them any way you like. But I love the look of them coming from different directions.

When starting your patterns for your strips, use cardstock or other flat item with a 90 degree angle to guide you in the initial placement.
Then just continue to add strips.
Once covered, turn the layer over and trim off the excess.
Then layer this onto another piece to frame it. I layered mine onto Basic White Cardstock and then added all this to the card base with Dimensionals.
The sentiment piece is also added with Dimensionals. But before adding it to the front of the card, be sure you have added the ribbon (cut at the left ends to match the angle of the banner) and trimmed off the excess. The “hello friend” mini banner is also added with a Dimensional strip from the kit and covers the adhesive underneath that is holding the ribbons in place. Oh! And add a few Iridescent Rhinestones.
The gift is a cake mix with a decorative partial wrap. I only added Seal Adhesive at the very top. The ribbon around it all holds the wrap in place quite well and hides the pre-existing score line.

Create the decorate strip panel the same way you would for the card above. And add to the bottom portion of the navy wrap with Dimensionals. Add the blue kit vase (flipped over to the white side) with a Dimensional at the top and toward the bottom so it’s not touching the ribbon. Then slide the ribbon over towards the vase. Fussy-cut the flowers and add them so they appear to be coming out of the vase. Stamp the sentiment banner and add it. Then embellish with Iridescent Rhinestones.

I received my June 2023 Welcome Inn Paper Pumpkin monthly subscription kit on Tuesday late afternoon. So just as I’ve done with several of the recent past kits, I decided to share my first set of alternate project ideas in a Live broadcast because I want to share right away. (Lives are much quicker than recording and doing all the editing. So I’ve become addicted to the ease. Just keep in mind that mistakes can happen and these recordings are not as scripted and as perfect.)
This is what came in the June kit. If you were to make the cards based on the directions, you would get 9 cards total (3 of 3 designs).
But I changed up the supplies to get more than double the amount of cards! Yay! AND a couple of the cards are stepped up a bit. In my video I share all 7 of these cards. Even if you didn’t get this kit, I hope the ideas I share can be applied to other products you own and inspire your creativity!
