Have you tried the Blackout Embossing technique yet? I’m seeing lots of great cards out there featuring these amazing background layers created with inks and 3D embossing folders. So I of course had to try it out, play around, and created a couple finished cards for you to see
I just showed live on YouTube and on Facebook a few hours ago step-by-step directions for creating these backgrounds and cards with the Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder, the Layering Leaves Stamp Set, the Fern 3D Embossing Folder, the Unbounded Love Stamp Set, the Spotlight on Nature Dies, and more! And now I’m sharing that video here in my blog post. Be sure to watch the video by clicking here (or you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog post), scroll through the close-up photos that follow, check out the measurements & products list below, and then let me know if you have any questions.
Below are measurements and close-up photos for the Layered Florals card that I demonstrated. I’ll share the details for the Fern fun-fold card Friday or Saturday.
See below for a complete list of products that I shared in the video. Most are linked to where you can find them in my online store. But some are not available until 5/1/24. So no links are available for them yet.
Click here to access and download a printable “measurements & supplies” sheet for the Layered Leaves card.

Welcome to our All Star Tutorial monthly blog hop for the Sun Prints Suite! Be ready to be immersed in this suite with all that we have to share.
I absolutely love the products in this suite! I used the pretty paper on June 22nd in my fish Faker Shaker card. You’ll see the papers again and more of the suite again in my October 30th post with the Octagon Star Boxes. And on November 2nd I shared some pretty Triangular Cross Fold cards using these items.
So today I wanted to share with you some more Octagon Star Boxes…this time using the larger measurements like I shared in my how-to video and blog post posted a few hours ago. You’ll notice one is taller than the other. But that is the only difference when it comes to the measurements. So I’ve listed the measurements for each below. It’s just a 2″ difference.
Products I used… a complete list of products I used is shown below, and everything is linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements for the taller box…
Basic White Cardstock
11-1/8” x 11-1/2” scored parallel to the short side at 1-3/8″, 2-3/4″, 4-1/8″, 5-1/2″, 6-7/8″, 8-1/4″, 9-5/8″ and 11″ then scored parallel to the long side at 3-1/4″ from the bottom and 1-3/4″ from the top (follow the video in this Grand Octagon Star Boxes post from earlier for instructions on extra score marks, cuts, folds, and assembly)
Scrap for stamping and die-cutting sentiment piece
Sun Prints Designer Paper
Eight strips that are 1-1/4″ x 6″ (Cut from one piece that is 6″ x 10″ to keep a flowing pattern)
Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon
16”
Vellum Cardstock
Scraps for die-cutting leaves
Measurements for the shorter box…
Basic White Cardstock
9-1/8” x 11-1/2” scored parallel to the short side at 1-3/8″, 2-3/4″, 4-1/8″, 5-1/2″, 6-7/8″, 8-1/4″, 9-5/8″ and 11″ then scored parallel to the long side at 3-1/4″ from the bottom and 1-3/4″ from the top (follow the video in this Grand Octagon Star Boxes post from earlier for instructions on extra score marks, cuts, folds, and assembly)
Scrap for stamping and die-cutting sentiment piece
Sun Prints Designer Paper
Eight strips that are 1-1/4″ x 4″ (Cut from one piece that is 4″ x 10″ to keep a flowing pattern)
Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon
16”
Vellum Cardstock
Scraps for die-cutting leaves
Tips…
Watch the video in this Grand Octagon Star Boxes post. It will guide you through cutting, scoring, folding, and assembling the base of these boxes.
Color the ribbon with the Night of Navy Blends Marker. Then set it aside to dry. Notice how the base color of the ribbon influences the finished look. The Fresh Freesia ribbon is a cooler, more purple-toned blue. The Soft Succulent ribbon is a warmer, softer blue.
Stamp, then die-cut the label. Score in on each end at 5/8″. Add to the box front with Dimensionals (placed on the back side in the middle and on the ends so the label wraps around).
Tuck the die-cut vellum leaves under the labels. You may need to trim if they aren’t tucking far enough.
Then add the rhinestones.

It’s time to celebrate my mentor, friend, and upline Susan Campfield! She just reached her 25th Stampin’ Up!® anniversary. And we are throwing her an online celebration through this special blog hop today! To follow the hop, see what I have to share, then check out all the other blogs in the hop for additional creative ideas by clicking the navy blue “next” button towards the bottom of my post and towards the bottom of each post to follow.
Our hop not only celebrates this kind, generous, and creative gal, but it celebrates the inspiration and leadership she gives to her entire team and other demonstrator peers.
We were inspired by one of the latest fun fold cards she shared on her blog on 7/27/22. So our hop will be showing many versions of that Pop Out Bendy Fun Fold Card.
Products I used… a complete list of products I used is shown below, and everything is linked to where you can find them in my online store.
It starts out looking like a typical Gate Fold Card. But once you slide off the belly band, you get a fun surprise. The inside floats towards you!
Measurements…
Garden Green Cardstock
5-1/2” x 8-1/2” scored parallel to the short side at 4-1/4” and in from each end at 2-1/8” for card base
1” x 5-1/8” scored parallel to the short side 1/2” in from each end for bendy piece
1” x 3” scored parallel to the short side at 1/2” and 1” in from each end for the “wobble”
(2) 2” x 5-3/8” for the layering panels inside the card (Die-cut a 4″ x 5-3/8″ piece with the Stitched Greenery Die first and then cut in half.)
Real Red Cardstock
1” x 9-1/4” for the bellyband
2-7/8″ x 2-7/8″ for the front layer
Basic White Thick Cardstock
Scrap for die-cutting the 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ stitched square for the front
Scrap for stamping and die-cutting the front apples on a branch image
Scrap for stamping and die-cutting the inside apples on a branch image
Scrap for stamping and die-cutting the sentiment piece on the inside
(2) 2” x 5-3/8” for the panels on the back of the card
Painted Christmas Designer Series Paper
(2) 2” x 5-3/8” for the layering panels inside the card (red herringbone image)
(2) 2” x 5-3/8” for the layering panels outside front of the card (leaves image)
Gold & Vanilla Satin Edged Ribbon
8-1/2″ to wrap along belly band
5-1/2″ to wrap along bendy piece
You’ll be able to find a how-to video within Susan’s blog post, so I won’t attempt to write everything down here. But be sure to attach the strips of ribbon to the belly band and the inside bendy piece BEFORE doing any other attaching. You may also want to practice coloring with your Blends Markers onto scrap pieces of cardstock before coloring on your final images. Here are the Blends I used for the images…
flowers – Petal Pink (light)
inside of apples – Petal Pink (light)
outside of apples – Calypso Coral (light), Real Red (dark and light), Cherry Cobbler (dark and light)
I think the rest will make sense after watching her video.
Since there is no place to sign this card on the front or inside, I added white cardstock to the back like Susan had done on a couple of her cards. If you didn’t visit her blog to see her cards yet, click here.

Welcome to our PPX monthly blog hop! Today I have my blog post linked to posts from those in my Paper Pumpkin Exclusives Video Crew so we could all share a few more projects that we put together with some of our leftovers from the June 2022 Pick of the Crop kit. See what I have to share. Then scroll down and click on the names of other hop participants to see additional creative alternate paper crafting project ideas with this Paper Pumpkin kit. (If you are receiving this blog post by email, click HERE to see the hop.)
On June 30th, I shared how I made eight alternate cards from the supplies of the three kit cards…turning 3 cards into 8, so almost tripling the cards from the kit. Today I have an alternate idea with the canvas bag, a Tobblerone Chocolate Bar wrap, and a 12×12 scrapbook page layout to share.
Extra products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
I bleached the bag! Yep…I wanted a whiter bag, so I soaked it in bleach overnight and then washed it with a load of whites to get this brighter bag.
Then I cut the chipboard from the kit packaging to get a 4-3/4″ wide piece and put that inside to keep any ink I stamped from bleeding through to the other side.
Because there was a bit more “bulk” at the top of the bag (from the seam and handles), I set it up in the Stamparatus with that portion hanging off the edge.
The above photo shows one strawberry darker than the other. I had to stamp the darkest one four times! The lighter one was only stamped twice at this point. I may have had quicker results had I used Memento ink. But I used StazOn, because I didn’t want the ink to wash off if the bag got wet.
The only problem was when I then colored in the berries and used Blends Markers (again because I didn’t want the ink to wash off if the bag got wet). And the Blends Markers aren’t supposed to pair up with StazOn (I forgot), so there was a bit of smearing with the black outline images. Oh well. LOL I still love the results.
Oh…And the “pearls” are just drops of White Pearlized Enamel Effects.
I created my second project because I wanted to add a bit of chocolate to the food images and turn it all into a fun picnic.
So I wrapped a Tobblerone candy bar up with the back half of the kit card sealing it with Seal Adhesive and then decorated this 3-D treat up a bit. I started with the bread placing it so it covered the red letters on the chocolate bar.
Then I added the cheese and tucked in 2 sets of flowers.
I added my second wedge of cheese with Dimensionals, a gold bow with a Glue Dot, a stamped sentiment strip with Dimensionals, and 3 gold flower accents.
Such a fun gift to give and receive!
Those that follow what I share with these kits know that I’m a scrapbooker. And I usually make a 12×12 page or layout with every kit. This time I made a layout. And I used the returning 12×12 Basic Black cardstock!!! I can’t express how happy I am that this staple item is back!!
Measurements for photo mats…
Fresh Freesia Cardstock, the back halves of two kit cards for the lighter blue, and Soft Succulent Cardstock
4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ (two of each color)
Blackberry Bliss Cardstock, Night of Navy Cardstock, and Evening Evergreen Cardstock
4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ (two of each color)
To get the greenish color on the left half of the Perfectly Penciled designer paper, I added color from the Soft Succulent ink pad with a Blending Brush which gave a nice smooth ombré effect.
The colors in the Adhesive Backed Sequins & Gems pack work well with the colors in this layout. So I added the sequins here and there.
On the right page I added the blueberry bunch, 3 bunches of flowers, and the sentiment strip which is popped up on Dimensionals and makes a nice “base” for the cluster of goodies. I also added a metallic bow and metallic flower embellishments. But I went with silver instead of gold this time.
You might also notice that I stamped berries in the background. But the black ink on black cardstock didn’t show up very well. So you could leave this step out.
I hope I inspired your creativity with what I shared today! If you did not get this kit, I hope you can apply these ideas to products you already own.
