I’ve got more Octagon Star Boxes for you today: a Halloween one and one with the beautiful Sun Prints designer paper!
On October 23rd I shared a couple of these adorable treat containers. And I provided instruction for making them within the video of that post. If you didn’t see these two boxes and how they were made, I encourage you to click here and watch. (Instruction for the boxes starts at the 3:20 minute mark.)

Sometimes I get so hooked on a fun fold card, a technique, a pattern, or a 3-D creation that I can’t stop. Does that mean it’s an addiction? Hmmm…probably. But unlike my current addiction to Angie’s brand Boom Chicka Pop kettle corn, this one has less salt.
Here are the two boxes I’m sharing today.

(Ignore the moon with the two shades of black. I didn’t stamp it firm enough and colored it in with a marker. But on camera, the difference shows up pretty well. Hahaha!)

Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
- Base cardstock to form the box
- 5-1/2” x 8-1/2″ scored parallel to the short side at 1″, 2″, 3″, 4″, 5″, 6″, 7″ and 8″ then scored parallel to the long side at 2-3/8″ and 4-1/4″ (follow video instruction for extra score marks, cuts, folds, and assembly)
- Strips of designer paper
- Eight that are 1-3/4″ x 7/8″ (Cut from one piece that is 1-3/4″ x 7″ if you want to keep a pattern flowing.)
- Ribbon or trim
- 12″ to 16″
- Extra cardstock for decorations and/or sentiment piece
Happy Halloween to all of you celebrating! If you need a last-minute treat holder and you have a bit of patience (or only need one or two for some extra special trick-or-treaters), then maybe this box is the answer. It’s big enough to hold a few candies (about 2″ high by about 2-1/2″ in diameter).

And if you don’t own these exact products, you can just make your version/s with your own spooky papers or even just leave the box panels blank and stick on a couple googly eyes to turn the boxes into monster heads. 🤪
Here are the products I used to make this box.
Products…
- 1/8″ hole punch or Crop-o-dile

I stamped the designer paper with the images before cutting it into strips. And because this particular designer paper is only 6″ long, I added a couple more pieces from another section of the paper which you can’t really notice since the pattern is so subtle.

For a box that is gift-able all year long, this one might be more your style. The stamp set and designer paper come from the Sun Prints Suite which will be the suite featured in November’s All Star Tutorial (which can be purchased or earned). Stay tuned to learn more about this tutorial on November 1st.

Here are the products needed for this version of the box.
Products…
- 1/8″ hole punch or Crop-o-dile

You can definitely see the flow of the paper pattern in these panels.

Another shout out of thanks to Theresa Gloe for getting me hooked when she shared this type of treat container for our make-n-take during our mid-September online team event.
If you are scrolling this post and feel like you missed directions, I didn’t really give you them. I only gave a couple tips. Directions for box assembly can be found in my how-to video in my 10/23/22 blog post, though.
Thanks for stopping by to see what I had to share today. If you are on Facebook and are part of my Stamp Your Art Out Group, be sure to share your version of this box. I’d love to see what you create!
