I got back from Maui on Monday morning, and I’ve been busy creating. I just put together my first set of alternate projects using the May 2021 Batter Up Paper Pumpkin monthly subscription kit! And I’m excited to share them with you today!
This fun kit contained the supplies shown below to make nine cheerful, baseball-themed cards.
But I never assemble my kits as is, because I like to show subscribers other ways to use those supplies. I like to think outside the box…see what else I can come up with, and create alternate cards, scrapbook pages and more. So today I’m sharing with you…

I used the supplies for three kit cards and turned them into six. So technically I doubled the cards in the kit AND got treat bags to boot – 18 cards and 9 treat bags. Woo hoo!

I saw a fun fold card on Pinterest made by fellow demonstrator, Karin Hobelsberger from Germany. She was sharing it in the A4 size with metric measurements. So I adapted the measurements and came up a version for Letter size cardstock using inches. I shared that version of this card with my Stampers With ART group last month during our Online Team Event. And then afterwards team member, Vicki Spicer shared a link to Dawn Griffith’s version of this with me AND I saw team member, Vy Tran’s version of it with a pop-up piece added! So I made a few improvements.
`I just showed live on YouTube about an hour ago step-by-step directions for creating this Hidden Pop-Up Flap Fold Card using products from the beautiful new Expressions In Ink Suite: Artistically Inked Stamp Set, Artistic Dies and Expressions In Ink Designer Paper. One of the best parts of being a Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator is building connections with others who also have the same passion for paper crafting, scrapbooking and card making. When I purchased the Starter Kit and joined as demonstrator on February 8, 2000 (21 years ago!), I never imagined all the friendships that would develop from holding classes, clubs, parties, team meetings, conventions, trips and more. And OH!…the sharing that we all do! Paper crafters are such giving people.
So today I am excited to share yet another fun fold idea with all of you – an idea that got passed along to me by my dear friend and upline, Susan Campfield during a recent online team event. Upon first glance you may say that it’s similar to the Tucked Insert Fun Fold Card that I shared back in June 2020. (Click here to see that style card.) The look when closed IS similar, but it’s put together in a different way.
I just showed live on YouTube about an hour ago step-by-step directions for creating this Flap Fold Card AND I shared how to “color in” using the Paper Piecing Technique with the Hey Chick and Hey Birthday Chick stamp sets and coordinating Chick and Birthday Chick die sets. Here is a card that features a peek at some new products that will be available on January 5th: the You Are Amazing Stamp Set and the Flower & Field Designer Paper.
It may look complicated, but the cuts and measurements are quite fun. I simply cut the bottom half off the front layer of the card base, rotated it and added it as a top layer!

Measurements
Real Red Cardstock: 11” x 4-1/4” scored parallel to short side at 5-1/2” then cut off half of the front (2-3/4” x 4-1/4”)… and a scrap for punching flower
Flower & Field Designer Paper: 4” x 5-1/4” cut into two pieces by cutting 2-1/2” from the top
Whisper White Cardstock: 2-1/2” x 4” (two pieces)
All the Trimmings Ribbon: one 4” piece of each color
Vellum Cardstock: 2-1/2” x 4”
Directions
Cut all the pieces using the measurements above.
Punch the flower and use a Bone Folder to curl the petals upward slightly.
Add one of the Whisper White layers and the bottom designer paper layer to the inside of the card base as shown in the photo above. Add the top designer paper layer to the front. (The designer paper patterns should appear to flow together.)
Stamp the sentiment image onto the other Whisper White layer leaving room at the top for the embellishments. (I made multiples of these cards and used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment. This allowed me to not only put the image in the same place each time, but I also could stamp it more than once to get a nice dark image.)
Layer this onto the Real Red Cardstock layer, wrap the ribbon diagonally across the top securing in the back with adhesive.
Put more adhesive across the back so it’s just on the top half. Place the vellum on top of the upper designer paper layer (do not adhere yet) and hold it in place. Then attach the sentiment layer piece onto the front so that it attaches to the vellum. Lift these pieces up, add more adhesive to the back of the vellum only where the cardstock is attached, and then add this whole piece back on the card.
Add the flower with a Glue Dot or two. Then add a Gold Glitter Enamel Dot to the center.

Basic Black Cardstock
4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
2” x 8-1/2” scored parallel to the short end at just a bit over 5-1/4”
2-1/4″ x 2-3/4″
Balmy Blue Cardstock
4” x 5-1/4”
2-1/4″ x 2-3/4″
In Good Taste Designer Paper
3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper
2” x 5-1/4”
Scrap for die-cutting word
Directions…
Add a small bit of Adhesive Sheet behind the scrap of glimmer paper, then die-cut word. Adhere to the small Basic Black piece as shown – with a bit of a curve. Stamp top sentiment image with VersaMark Ink. Carefully add Silver Emboss Powder, tap off excess, and heat with Heat Tool. Repeat with the lower sentiment image. Add the Rhinestone and set aside.
Stamp the other images on the Balmy Blue piece with Tuxedo Black and VersaMark Inks. Add the Rhinestone and set aside.
Connect the smaller portion of the folded Basic Black “flap fold” piece to the back of the Balmy Blue piece so the flap is coming over the top. Adhere to the Basic Black layer. Then adhere the designer paper piece on top of the Balmy Blue.
Next add the stamped Balmy Blue piece to the inside of the card (on the designer paper) as shown.
Fold the flap shut. Add the glimmer paper, then add the stamped Basic Black piece using Multipurpose Liquid Glue so it is covering the Balmy Blue piece underneath.
