I’ve teamed up with my son Nick to bring to you a couple more alternate card creations from the May 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit. (Click here to see what I’ve shared already with this kit.)
In this pre-recorded video my son, Nick and I stamp together! He shares how to make one of the kit cards and then demonstrates another card that he designed! He is raising money for his January 2020 Disney World trip with his Jazz Band. So I told him that I would donate 30% off my sales for a month if he wanted to do something stamping-related with me. He is a YouTuber himself, and so this video was the perfect idea. He doesn’t stamp much at all (unless I ask him to help me mass produce swap cards or something), so it was fun to see him enjoy this whole process!
Watch my video first to get to get measurements, directions, and tips (you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog). Then scroll down to see close-up photos, access the links that we mentioned at the beginning of my video, see photos and details for a bonus card I made after recording, and see a list of extra supplies (linked to my online store) that we used to make our creations.
Below are close-up photos of the cards Nick made and shared in this video. (Remember to watch the video first to get measurements, tips and directions.)
Then below those is an extra masculine card that I put together after recording the video.
Nick’s cards
The one on the left he made per the kit directions (and my guidance). The one on the right was his own design.
Measurements for the one on the right…
- Old Olive Cardstock
- 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” scored at 4-1/4” and folded in half
- Whisper White Cardstock
- Two pieces that are 3-5/8″ x 5-1/8″
- Nest print card from the kit
- Just cut card in half to get a piece that measures 3-1/2″ x 5″
Products we used… See below for a complete list of products we used linked to where you can find them in my online store. (The Bird Ballad Designer Paper will debut on June 4 in the 2019-20 Annual Catalog, so the link will not work until then.)
He must have been having a lot of fun during the recording of the video, because he changed his plans as he got to the inside. And he decided to get a little more “decorative.” ?
Nick’s last day of piano for the year was his recital on May 19. So after recording this video that morning, he brought this card and a gift to his piano teacher…
…and presented it to her at the end of the recital. ❤️

My bonus masculine card
After recording the video, I put together a card using the other half of the nest print kit card Nick used and some scraps I had after making the cards I shared on May 21st.
It’s a z-fold card and super easy to make.
Measurements…
- Soft Suede Cardstock
- 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” scored at 2-1/8″ and 4-1/4”
- Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 3-3/4″ x 5″
- Nest print card from the kit
- Just cut card in half to get a piece that measures 3-1/2″ x 5″ (the non-printed Crumb Cake half)
- Cut a strip off of the printed side that measures 1/4″ x 5″
Products I used… See below for a complete list of products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Directions…
- Adhere the 1/4″ x 5″ printed strip to the bottom of the Very Vanilla piece.
- Stamp the speckled image randomly onto the Crumb Cake and the Very Vanilla pieces as shown. (To get the lighter ink, stamp off onto scrap paper then stamp onto the cardstock.)
- Stamp the sentiment onto a medium label piece from the kit.
- Fold the Soft Suede Cardstock in half and then fold in the opposite direction at the 2-1/8″ score line to create the z-fold.
- Adhere all the layers as shown and add the feather.
Even if you can’t purchase to help out Nick’s trip fundraiser (maybe you are a demonstrator yourself, or you don’t live in the US, or you purchase through another), I hope you enjoyed this video anyway. I’m so proud of him! ❤️And I hope we inspired your creativity with what we shared today!

ANNUAL CATALOG NEWS
Due to recent supplier issues (and other factors), Stampin’ Up! will no longer be carrying the current die-cutting machine and trimmer: The Big Shot and Stampin’ Trimmer are retiring. These changes are giving Stampin’ Up! the opportunity to research and explore replacement options. But there will be a gap when we do not have a trimmer or die-cutting machine available. You will not see these items in the upcoming 2019-20 Annual Catalog that debuts June 4, 2019. Click here for more information.
Loved the video! What fun card making with your son! My youngest, who is now 23, used to love crafting with me! Good luck with your fundraising Nick! You’ll have a great time going to Disney!
Thanks Jean! We appreciate your encouraging and kind words.
Way to go, Nick! What fun to see you make the card. I’m sure your piano teacher loved it even more bc you made it! Good luck with your fundraising.
Thanks Susan! Yes, I think she was pretty impressed… AND even more impressed when I said he designed it too!
Loved this Rachel. You were so patient with him and Nick really had some good ideas. How wonderful to have a recipient in mind too. Good luck with the sales. Unfortunately I am in Ontario fro the summer months so I cannot order. Good luck. Disney rocks!!
Thanks for your sweet comment Pam. He’s doing really well with sales so far! So Yay! I appreciate you wanting to help, though. Hugs!
