#APaperPumpkinThing Welcome to our monthly APPT blog hop to showcase Paper Pumpkin kit alternate projects! This time we are highlighting the “Sunshine & Smiles” February 2023 Paper Pumpkin kit. See what I have to share. Then check out all the other blogs in the hop for additional creative ideas that my fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator friends shared. Here are the cards the kit instructs how to make. (Click here for a link to Stampin’ Up!’s how-to video to help you assemble these as intended.)
I’ve already shared some other alternate projects using the contents of this kit on February 22nd.
A tri-fold window card (a fun-fold card)
And how I turned the three different kit cards into eight (more than doubling the cards you can make from the kit contents)
Today I am sharing…
An adorable mini album (great for a gift!)
AND… a simple set of refrigerator magnets
Yes! It’s a simple idea. By adding magnets to the back sides, you can make fun scenes on your refrigerator. And what a great activity for young kids (or bored teenagers hanging out in the kitchen).
I used business card magnets with Stampin’ Up!’s Foam Adhesive Sheets. I peeled the backing off one of the magnets, stuck it to a sticky side of a similar size piece of Foam Adhesive Sheet, and then trimmed it into pieces that fit each of the kit pieces.
By using the Foam Adhesive Sheets, the added height makes it easier to grab the character and move it.
Here is the next project idea. I received a mini album as a gift from my friend and fellow demonstrator, Luanne Peterson. So I used that layout from hers as inspiration for this one I’m sharing today. The layout is similar with slightly different measurements to maximize the use of the 12×12 cardstock base.
Measurements…
Balmy Blue Cardstock
12″ x 12″ scored in one direction at 5″ and 10″ and then scored in the other direction at 3-3/4″, 3-15/16″, 7-3/4″ and 8-1/8″
Larger layers (from the kit cards and the Rain or Shine Designer Paper)
3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″
Smaller white layers (from the envelopes)
1-7/8″ x 3-5/8″
Basic Black Cardstock
optional…these 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ pieces are just in there to represent photos in the windows
Piece wrapped around the outside when closed (from an envelope)
cut as directed below
Balmy Blue and White Variegated Ribbon
25″
Most of the products come from the kit, but there are a few extras.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of extra products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
After scoring the Balmy Blue 12″ x 12″ Cardstock, remove the skinny strip sections. Below is a visual of the scores and cut out sections.
Add the layers. The strips along the bottom of the white sections are just leftovers that I had after cutting the card bases down to size. Photos can be added to the top of the solid layers and…
…underneath the window layers. I used the glue dots in the kit just at the very top of the window layers.
To cut the window layers so the windows are centered, trim the card base at 3-15/16″ as shown below. Then flip and trim at 3-5/8″. Then trim off a little over a quarter inch (5/16″) from each of the other two ends.
To cut the wrapped outside piece (from one of the envelopes), trim 7/16″ (just under 1/2″) from each of the two sides. Then without opening the envelope and with the bottom closed edge lined up at 4-1/8″ mark on your trimmer, cut the excess off as shown below.
Open it up and now line up the straight edge at the 3-3/4″ mark and score to give you a second score line. Add this after all the inside layers are completed and after you’ve stamped the sun image. So when ready, fold up the completed album, tie on the ribbon, wrap and glue on this piece, untie the ribbon so that it’s flat under the layer when drying, add the final embellishment pieces, and re-tie the ribbon when dry.
Here is a walk through now of the album closed and what it looks like as it opens up.
(By the way, I used one of each of the different card bases, an extra yellow card base, and two pieces of designer paper for the 10 larger layers.)
Here is a look at the inside fully open.
And here is a look at it when it’s flipped over.
Thanks for seeing what I had to share. I hope these ideas inspired your creativity!

I received my February 2023 Sunshine & Smiles Paper Pumpkin monthly subscription kit yesterday afternoon, and I’m excited to share with you today my first set of alternate projects that I just put together!
This fun kit contained the supplies shown below to make nine cheerful cards (3 of 3 designs).
But I never assemble my kits as is, because I like to share other ways to use those supplies. I like to think outside the box…see what else I can come up with, and create alternate cards, scrapbook pages and more. So today I’m sharing with you…
A tri-fold window card (a fun-fold card)
And how I turned the three different kit cards into eight (more than doubling the cards you can make from the kit contents)
Because my craft studio has been overtaken by tools and supplies for our bathroom remodel project, I haven’t been able to spend time in there and haven’t had a lot of creative time. So I decided to combine two things together: my first set of Paper Pumpkin alternates AND my Wednesday Live Online Paper Crafting Class. What a whirlwind! But oh so fun!!! Normally my Paper Pumpkin alternate videos are pre-recorded so I can edit out mistakes and speed up slow parts. So I had to be pretty organized bringing all of this into a Live recording.
Watch my video first by clicking here to get to get measurements, directions, and tips (or you can just click on this image below if you are already in my blog post). Scroll down to see close-up photos, access the links that I mentioned in my video, and see a list of extra supplies (linked to my online store) that I used to make my creations. Then be sure to visit my blog again soon, because I have many more alternate projects that I’ll be sharing on March 3rd.
Here are the cards the kit instructs how to make. (Click here for a link to Stampin’ Up!’s how-to video to help you assemble these as intended.)
And here are close-up photos of the alternate projects I made and shared in my video. (Remember to watch my video first to get measurements, tips and directions.)

I shared how to make a Center of Attention fun fold card during my live on Wednesday. Visit that 2/8/23 post to see photos of that card and watch a how-to video for tips on preparing the cardstock and papers, putting the card together, and ways to fold it shut so it fits in an envelope. I also showed a couple more versions of the card during that live.
Here is the cute bunny card.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
Soft Sea Foam Cardstock
5-1/2” x 8” scored parallel to the short side at 2” and 6” and then scored and cut further according to the directions in the video from Wednesday
Day at the Farm Designer Paper
vegetable pattern – (2) 1-7/8” x 5-3/8”
plaid pattern – (2) 1-7/8” x 5-3/8”
Garden Green Cardstock
(4) 1-1/8″ x 1-7/8”
Basic Gray Cardstock
(2) 7/8” x 2-7/8”
Basic White Cardstock
1-7/8″ x 2-7/8″
Scraps for stamping and cutting out the bunny and carrot
Tips…
Mask by putting removable tape or a Post It® note on the word Easter. Ink up the word Happy. Pull off the mask and stamp Happy onto your cardstock strip. Clean your stamp thoroughly. Then mask the work Happy to stamp the word Easter.
Fussy cut the bunny and the carrot, color, then snip just around the bunny’s right arm and tuck the carrot underneath.
Use glue to adhere the sequins.
This was one of the make-n-takes we made at the Silver Elite Retreat. Cheryl is working on her card in this photo.
My mother made two and wanted her second one to look different since she was making them for my two nieces who are sisters. This was the second one she made. We pulled out the Dainty Flowers paper for this card. And we used the other bunny image in the set. It’s a super fun variation.
Here is the view on the back side. The white paper indicates where you would write a message and sign the card.
BTW…This is the pattern for the cards I’m sharing today (and the one I shared on Wednesday).
With these cuts and scores for your card base, you can fold the card closed to put it into the envelope in a couple different ways…
This was another pattern I pulled out during the live. The base measures the same: 5-1/2″ x 8″. It’s a little more complicated to cut and score. But it will give you a wider (3″ rather than 2″) surface for your middle image.
But can fold flat with the top and bottom pinched and flattened to the sides. But it will not flatten by folding the side flaps over.
This was another pattern I pulled out during the live. I said it wouldn’t work, but I spaced when I was recording live and gave incorrect information. Yes indeed…it will work. This one begins from a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ base, but the measurements get more complicated.
It also can only fold flat with the top and bottom pinched and flattened to the side. The sections will stick out a bit, but the card will still fit into the same size envelope. And it will however flatten by folding the side flaps over, but in this way it’s too wide for the envelope. AND it doesn’t really give you a larger surface area for putting your middle image.
This is the other card I wanted to share with you. I love it, but it takes two Sale-a-Bration items in order to make it: the Day at the Farm Designer Paper and the Thanks a Bunch Stamp Set (both of which are only available to earn with a qualifying purchase through the end of February).
Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
Basic White Thick Cardstock
5-1/2” x 8” scored parallel to the short side at 2” and 6” and then scored and cut further according to the directions in the video from Wednesday
(2) 1-3/4″ x 2-3/4″
Scraps for stamping and cutting out the carrots
Day at the Farm Designer Paper
vegetable pattern – (2) 1-7/8” x 5-3/8”
plaid pattern – (2) 1-7/8” x 5-3/8”
Basic Gray Cardstock
(4) 1-1/8″ x 1-7/8”
(2) 7/8” x 2-7/8”
Cherry Cobbler Cardstock
(2) 1-7/8″ x 2-7/8″
Garden Green 3/8″ Ribbon
2″
3″ (cut down the middle to get two pieces)
Tips…
Stamp, cut out, then stack and connect the three carrots. (The top one is on Dimensionals which are then stuck to the two carrots underneath.)
Fold the skinnier ribbon strands into thirds and the smaller one in half while connecting them to the back tops of the carrot bunch.
Use glue to adhere the sequins.
Here is the view on the back side.
My youngest, Luke turned 16 on Tuesday. So he has friends coming over tonight for pizza, ice cream cake, movies, and a sleepover. Plus he’s attending a school dance on Saturday evening. I’ll try to post a couple photos.
I have an adorable birthday card to share with you in a few days. It’s not the one I made for Luke, but it’s using one of my favorite new sets that I just started creating with. Hope you visit back!*

I’m so glad these Envelope Treat Boxes are going to continue to be available after the July-Dec 2022 Mini Catalog ends. They are easy to decorate and super sturdy. Plus, they just have a unique look.
I thought I’d walk you through the steps of how I made this green and red one. And then further down the post I have two others to share…a SUPER simple one and one that may make you hungry if you like your veggies.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.
I first colored the front box sections lightly with Garden Green ink and a Blending Brush.
Assembly is easy. Connect the tabs as show below. Latch the c-shaped flaps together. Then insert one pointed flap downward into the slot of the other.
You can certainly use the strong gold stickers that come with the boxes to “tape” over this last connection. Or you can use ribbon like I’ve done here (and in my second box). For this two-toned combination I kept the ribbon layered together the whole time. Once the bow was made, I separated the two colors to make the bow fuller.
And then I just added Red Rhinestones and inserted and adhered one of the die-cut images that I shared how to make in my July 27, 2022 post.
This second one is super simple. I first stamped the words on the box flap. Next I colored about 18″ of ribbon with the Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Marker. While waiting for the ribbon to dry, I assembled the box. Finally I tied on the ribbon and added the butterflies.
For the third box, I embossed the box with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder and used a Blending Brush to add a bit of Crumb Cake ink. Looking back I wish I would’ve added more for a darker look. Oh well.
I stamped and cut out a grouping of three carrots. I then stamped and punched out my sentiment. After assembling the box, I added the carrots and sentiment pieces with Dimensionals. Then I tied two 5-inch strips of ribbon together in a knot, folded two strands over, and secured the strands with Glue Dots. Then I tucked this under the top of the carrots and secured with a couple more Glue Dots. And lastly I added a couple Brushed Brass Butterflies.
We are celebrating Christmas this evening with the Jandro side…my husband’s side of the family. Let the holiday festivities begin!

MY FAVORITE EXTRAS I’ve added a new section to my website titled My Favorite Extras. This is where you can find direct links to other products (from Amazon, Stamp-n-Storage, The Country Hive, etc.) that I love, use, and share about.
Today I thought I’d share a few more cards from my Texture Chic Virtual Tour video that I posted on June 1st. These are the first four cards I share in that video (around the 7 minute mark after introducing the products) that feature the fantastic stamps from the Season of Chic Stamp Set. You’ll see that I used both images for the flower, shell and leaf to get the two tones or multi-layered look.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements for these cards...
Basic White Cardstock
4-1/4” x 11″ scored parallel to short side at 5-1/2” for the card base (for all cards)
1-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ (for flower and leaf cards)
7/8″ x 4-1/4″ (for shell card)
4″ x 5-1/4″ (for snow card)
The season of Spring is represented in this stamp set with the flowers. In this card I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso, the splatters in Petal Pink, and the flowers in Flirty Flamingo. To get that lighter pink in the inside solid flowers, I stamped onto scrap paper a few times first to lighten the intensity of the color. I stamped onto scrap paper just a couple times for the slightly darker pink outline image.
I snipped into the middle on the right edge about 1/4″ then cut upper corner to the end of the middle cut and lower corner to the end of the middle cut to make the banner edge. I used Dimensionals to add the sentiment layer and adhered the sequins with Fine Tip Glue.
The season of Summer is represented in this stamp set with the shells. In this second card I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black, the “sand” in a very lightened shade of Crumb Cake (stamped on scrap paper twice), and the shells in lightened Crumb Cake and Balmy Blue.
I used Dimensionals to add the sentiment layer and adhered the sequins with Fine Tip Glue.
The season of Fall/Autumn is represented with the leaves. For this card I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso and the leaves in Old Olive, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, and Crushed Curry. The lighter shade on the inside solid leaf image is again from stamping off onto scrap paper first.
And again I used Dimensionals to add the sentiment layer and Fine Tip Glue to add the sequins.
The three color packs of sequins in the For Everything Fancy Sequin pack were what guided me in choosing my ink colors for these first three cards.
The season of Winter is represented in this stamp set with the snowflakes. In this card I stamped all the images using Highland Heather ink.
The top layer is added with Dimensionals. And the embellishments I used this time were the Iridescent Rhinestones which are self-adhesive.
