I’ve been playing with new products… making birthday cards for those in my Stampers With Art Community. And I’ve got five different variations of these cheerful and colorful cards to show you today.
I just showed live on YouTube and on Facebook about an hour ago step-by-step directions for creating these flap fold cards with images from the Adorable Owls Stamp Set (available 1/5/23), papers from the Fancy Flora Designer Paper (also available 1/5/23), some Stampin’ Blends alcohol-based Markers, and other coordinating products. And now I’m sharing that video here in my blog post. Base Cardstock

Cardstock for Owl Image Layer
3” x 3” scrap for die-cutting second largest scallop circle (which measures about 2-3/4” in diameter)
Basic White Cardstock

Today I’m going to show you some cards that I made with the This Birthday Piggy stamp set and the coordinating, limited-time Playful Piggy dies from the Perfect Partners promotion. These three note cards I’m sharing have “dimension” – one card has a wobble, one has a zig-zag extension, and one pops out at you when you open it up! Fun, right?!

After creating the cards I shared on Wednesday, I used one of the leftover Stylish Shapes stamped circles and put together this simple and sweet birthday card. The colors of the Adhesive-Backed Sequins & Gems led the way for the colors I used in the card. And though the main image is the bird sitting on the sentiment, I couldn’t help but glitz up that adorable birdhouse.

Measurements
Coastal Cabana Cardstock
4-1/4” x 11″ scored parallel to short side at 5-1/2”
Basic White Cardstock
Scraps for die-cutting 2-5/8″ x 5″ stitched rectangle and 2-1/8″ diameter stitched circle
4” x 5-1/4” (for the inside)
Directions
After die-cutting and preparing the cardstock, use the Gray Granite ink to stamp the birdhouse about 1″ from the top and about 1/4″ from the left onto the vertical rectangle piece. Stamp the string connected above, then stamp the branch above that (and a bit below the house in the left lower corner). Color the leaves with Parakeet Party Blends Markers.
Use the Fresh Freesia ink to stamp the “birthday wishes” sentiment and the Gray Granite ink to stamp the bird on the circle, and color the bird with the Dark Pool Party and Light Bermuda Bay Blends Markers.
Apply some Parakeet Party ink in the lower right of the birdhouse layer so it will “glow” under the circle.
Use the Fresh Freesia ink to stamp the inside sentiment layer. Then add this layer to the inside with Seal Adhesive and the stitched layers to the outside with Dimensionals.
Embellish with the sequins/gems.

One part of my card that I’m sharing today I CASEd from a sample on page 166 in the 2022-23 Annual Catalog (which you can also see in the online store with the Chic Dies). I loved the focal point of that card, but wanted to pair it up with a more relaxed background with the look of the beach.

Basic White Cardstock
4-1/4” x 11″ scored parallel to short side at 5-1/2”
Scraps for stamping and die-cutting shells
Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper
4-1/8” x 5-3/8”
Basic Black Cardstock
3/4” x 2-1/4”
1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″
Distressed Gold Specialty Paper
Scrap for die-cutting layer
Directions…
Use the Blending Brushes in a light-handed circular motion to add the ink colors Soft Suede, Crumb Cake & Coastal Cabana to the watercolor paper layer to create a beach scene. It might help to start off the paper, too so your color is softened a bit before coming onto the paper. And because the paper is textured, you will get a “watercolory” look without watercoloring.
Stamp the inside and outside sentiments with VersaMark into onto the Basic Black Cardstock. Add the Gold Emboss Powder, tap off the excess, and heat with the Heat Tool to emboss.
Stamp and die-cut two shells. Add a few Iridescent Pearls to each.
Die-cut the “mesh” from the Distressed Gold Specialty Paper.
Add the beach layer to the card base with Seal. Place the mesh, shells and thinking of you layer where they look best. Then add the shells to the mesh with Seal and the sentiment layer with Dimensionals. Add Seal only on the backside of the mesh where the shells and sentiment layer are and add it all to the card.
Finish by adding the inside sentiment layer to the inside of the card.

I know that we shouldn’t fill our flower vases with carbonated water. But I couldn’t resist putting these Effervescent Elements into this Vintage Bottle flower vase. Hahaha! So here is today’s creative inspiration in the form of an interactive mini shaker card.

5-1/2” x 8-1/2″ scored parallel to short side at 4-1/4”

2022-24 In Color Designer Paper (Sweet Sorbet)
1/2″ x 3″
Directions
Punch one of the 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ white pieces with the Vintage Bottle Punch (inserted from the bottom). Adhere the designer paper strip across the bottom. Line up the punch and punch again to give the look of the bottle sitting on a tablecloth covered table. Stamp the leaves and flowers images above the vase.
Place the 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ white piece vertically behind the punched bottle – do not adhere. Put a few small dots from the marker towards the bottom center to indicate where to start drawing stems. Pull the papers apart and use a ruler or other straight-edge and draw stems that go up and narrow to about 1/8″ at about 2″ from the beginning dots. But extend the lines further as they only need to be narrow at around the 2″ spot.
Add the Vintage Bottle Shaker Dome so it’s coming up and through the main layer. Connect the smaller white layer (with the stems) to the main white layer so the stems line up when looking into the bottle. Only adhere one side though. Now remove the back “release paper” from the shaker dome. Spoon in a bunch of Effervescent Elements. (Be careful that they don’t spill. They roll away easily!) Connect the two white layers together.
Add this to the Coastal Cabana layer, then add all this to the front of the card.
Stamp the inside white layer and add to the card.
Then punch the white strip, stamp the sentiment, curl it with a Bone Folder, and attach it with Glue Dots to the card so it looks like it’s wrapping from the back of the bottle around and across the front.

TAX HOLIDAY FOR SELECT STATES Thirteen states and Puerto Rico will be offering a state sales tax holiday for school supplies during the months of July or August. We are in the midst of our annual crafter’s garage sale, so I’ve prerecorded my Online Paper Crafting Class and have a fun, cheerful sunshine card to share with you today (actually three versions of it) which is very fitting since the temps here lately have been quite high.
Tada!
