The new Light the Candles Card Kit from Stampin’ Up!’s Kit Collection called to me! It’s a fun set of cards to make as the kit instructs. But I couldn’t help myself…I altered the contents of the kit to make a few fun fold cards.
I just showed live on YouTube about an hour ago step-by-step directions for creating two of them and explained tips on three more. And now I’m sharing that video here in my blog post. Do you recall the double pocket cards I shared on October 27th? Well, my team member, Vy Tran created a variation – changing the measurements a bit and also adding a cardstock base for support. She shared her version with one pocket on her blog on November 1st. And I was immediately inspired to CASE what she did. Click here to see her card.
Here are the pocket cards I put together for a few November birthdays using the Best Year Stamp Set and some of the Eden’s Garden products: The Eden’s Garden Stamp Set, Ever Eden Designer Paper, and Garden Gems.
I used five of the six double sided designs from the Ever Eden pack and was able to get 20 cards total from those 10 sheets. As you can see above and below, three of the papers I folded with the foiled side in. And two I folded with the foiled side out.
Below you will see photos of each of these five cards individually, measurements so you can make any of the cards yourself, and a list of products I used if you’d like to make a purchase. By the way, the Ever Eden Designer Paper and the Garden Gems are only available through January 3rd or while supplies last.

4-1/4” x 5-1/2”
Designer Paper
5-1/4” x 12” scored parallel to short side at 4” and 8”
Basic White Cardstock

Directions
Fold the designer paper base to choose which section will be diagonally trimmed (as shown below). Then cut from the top of the score line to the outer corner. I cut mine down to just above the outer corner (an inch above). Secure with a small line of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Stamp the images on the white cardstock pieces.
Add the folded up designer paper base to the Evening Evergreen base. Then open it up and adhere the pink and white layers.
Add the small white stamped layer to the small pink layer as shown.
Wrap and adhere the ends of the pink and green ribbons. (I tied a knot in my green ribbons.)
Add the Cherry Cobbler cardstock to the front of the closed card.
Add the ribbon wrapped piece next.
Then finish by embellishing with the Garden Gems.

Oh la la! I love what vellum brings to a card. Look at this fun and simple idea. Vellum is the card base, but the layers of die-cuts allow any inside sections and signing of the card to stay hidden until opened. And except fo the very back side, the adhesives stay hidden completely.

Scrap for die-cutting sentiment 2-3/8″ diameter circles

Directions
Die-cut two shell groupings. Emboss one of them with the coordinating embossing folder. Adhere the non-embossed one to the inside of the card using Seal Adhesive (or sponge on Multipurpose Liquid Glue if you want a more discrete look on the very back).
Die-cut the circles, layer together as shown below for the inside and outside sentiment pieces, then stamp with the words (in Early Espresso ink) and speckles (in Pool Party ink).
Add a few speckles of Wink of Stella by tapping the pen against a bone folder above the layered circle pieces to release the ink. Allow to dry.
Close the card. Position the embossed shell grouping over top but don’t attach yet. Add the front sentiment circle to this with Dimensionals. Then flip this embossed shell grouping over and add adhesive the shell layer just behind the circle (no where else). I used Seal, but you could use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to be more precise.
Now add this to the front of the closed card being sure to line up the die-cut shell groupings.
Add the ribbon. If you can tuck it a bit under the front circle, then do so.
Open the card and add the other sentiment circle to the inside left side so it covers up the circle area (and adhesive) of the front layers.
Ta-da!!
Then just finish off by accenting with the Elegant Faceted Gems.
Isn’t the sparkle from the Wink of Stella amazing? I’m sort of addicted to it lately.

I love how one can transform an embossed pieces of cardstock simply by adding color with Blending Brushes. The results bring even further depth and make everything so much more vivid. I have two cards for you today where I used this simple technique on cardstock layers that I embossed with the Magnolia 3D Embossing Folder. I also share how to make a W-Fold card which gives one of these cards a stunning inside surprise.

I’ve actually found several names for this kind of fun-fold card that I’m sharing with you today: Fold-Flat Box Card, Gatefold Box Card, Hidden Box Gatefold Card, and Gatefold Pop-up Box Card. But no matter what you call it, it’s an amazing greeting card to receive and a fun one to make.
Team member, Vy Tran led our group of demonstrators in making one last month during our virtual team gathering on Zoom. So I’d like to share the one I finished from that event AND show you the one she had sent to me back in August for my birthday.
This is my snowflake version that I made with the Whimsy & Wonder Designer Paper, Wonderful Snowflakes, and Snowflake Wishes Stamp Set.

Whimsy & Wonder Designer Paper
9-1/2” x 12″ scored parallel to short side in on each end at 2″ and 4″ then scored parallel to long side in on each end at 2″
3/4″ x 3-1/2″ scored parallel to short side at 1″, 1-1/2″, 2-1/2″, and 3″
3/4″ x 4″ scored parallel to short side at 1″, 1-3/4″, 2-3/4″, and 3-1/2″
Basic White Cardstock
3-1/8″ x 4-5/8″
Mossy Meadow Cardstock
1-5/8″ x 2-7/8″
Scraps for die-cutting a couple circles (1-7/8″ diam. and 1-5/8″ diam.)

Just apply her directions to the pieces you see in my card above. Oh! For the dark green snowflakes on the front, use a Sponge Dauber to add color to the back side of an iridescent one. Then add to the card using Tombow Monoadhesive Liquid Glue.
Below is the card she made and sent to me. It’s very similar to the one in her video.
