Friendly Silhouettes & Ink Refills

Today I’m sharing a few cards that I put together using the new Friendly Silhouettes Dies, the coordinating Friend Like You Stamp Set, baby wipes and ink refills.

The first card I made was this one, but I wasn’t happy with the addition of the Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon.

I love the new Friendly Silhouettes dies that just debuted in the 2019-20 Annual Catalog. Click here to see how I used these dies, the coordinating stamp set (Friend Like You), baby wipes, and reinkers to create three pretty scenery cards. I’ve included directions, measurements and supplies linked to my online store. #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I wanted more sparkle (besides the subtle shimmer that comes through in the inked up Shimmery White Cardstock), but the ribbon brought in more black that seemed to darken the card a bit more.

So on this second version, I colored a couple Rhinestones with Blends Markers and added those near the sentiment. I also cut my dragonfly stamp image in half to get two separate dragonflies and stamped those near the cattails. MUCH better. 😊

At this angle (I took this photo near the sunlight in my window), you can see the shimmer from the inked up Shimmery White Cardstock.

Here are measurements and more tips/directions if you wish to recreate this card. (Be sure to scroll down further to see a couple other versions of this card using the other dies in this set.)

Measurements…

  • Basic Black Cardstock
    • 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” scored at 4-1/4” and folded in half
    • 2-1/8” x 4-3/4”
  • Cherry Cobbler Cardstock
    • 3-5/8” x 4-7/8”
  • Shimmery White Cardstock
    • 3-1/2” x 4-3/4” (or 3-1/2″ by 5-1/2″ which is an easier size for adding the ink)
  • Daffodil Delight Cardstock
    • 3-1/2” x 4-3/4”

Products I used… See below for a complete list of products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Directions/Tips…

  • Cutting your Shimmery White Cardstock to 3-1/2” x 4-3/4” will allow you to get five pieces from one 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet. But I found after making several of these cards (this is my birthday card I made for those in my Stampers With ART group that have June birthdays) that is was easier to swipe on the ink if I started with a wider piece. So you may want to cut your Shimmery White to at least 3-1/2″ by 5-1/2″.
  • Fold up a baby wipe (or two), place on top of a glass or plastic surface (a plate should work…or a large clear block as I used in this photo below), and squeeze on drops of ink to create a “rainbow ink pad.”

  • With gloved hands swipe the “rainbow ink pad” slow and steady across the Shimmery White Cardstock. Because I used a wider piece of cardstock, I had about 1/2″ to hold onto when swiping.

  • You’ll want to do this more than once to blend the colors and prevent a streaked look.

  • You should be able to ink a few more sheets of Shimmery White Cardstock before needing to add more ink to your baby wipe. So plan to make more than one card. OR…stamp into the baby wipe to make other cards (like my leaf card below). But either way, be sure to use this baby wipe up a bit more before throwing it away.
  • After your Shimmery White Cardstock dries, cut to 3-1/2” x 4-3/4”.
  • Die-cut the cattails from the 2-1/8” x 4-3/4” piece of Basic Black Cardstock. Use a sponge to add Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the back side. Then adhere the cattails to the bottom of the inked Shimmery White piece.
  • Stamp the sentiment and dragonflies, then layer this onto the Cherry Cobbler Cardstock. Add this to the front of the card base using Dimensionals.
  • Stamp sentiment and dragonfly onto the Daffodil Delight layer and add to the inside of the card using SNAIL.

  • Color rhinestones with Blends Markers and add to the front of the card near the sentiment.

Jean Pocket Treat Box!

For those of you who have been with me for awhile (or even just for a few weeks and saw my May 9th post and tutorial video), you know I’m having a hard time saying goodbye to the Pocketful of Sunshine Stamp Set which retires June 3rd. It’s such an adorable stamp set. And when paired with the coordinating Pocket Framelits dies (which are NOT retiring because there will be totally different pocket stamp set in the new catalog), you can make so many fantabulous cards and projects!

Here is the latest thing I made…a jean pocket treat box.

Here is another fun project you can make with the Pocketful of Sunshine Stamp Set and coordinating Pocket Framelits Dies…a jean pocket treat box! I also used the Touches of Texture Stamp Set to get that subtle floral lace print look. These two stamp sets retire June 3, so be sure to get your hands on them soon. Click here for more photos and more information! #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I’ve seen a few others share a similar idea with this stamp set and dies. In fact I was gifted one by my upline, Susan Campfield a couple years back. But I HAD to try making one myself. I used another retiring stamp set, Touches of Texture to get the light blue textured jean material look.

Below are directions, measurements and supplies if you want to give this a go.

Products I used… See below for a list of products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store. (The Bird Ballad Trinkets will not be available until the new catalog debuts on June 4. So the link below will not work until then.)

Measurements…

  • Balmy Blue Cardstock
    • Two pieces that are 3-1/2” x 4” for stamping and die-cutting the front and back pocket panels
    • 1-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ scored at 2-3/4″, 3-3/4″ and 5-1/4″

Directions…

  • Stamp the pocket images with Pacific Point ink. Stamp the sentiment in the upper right corner of one of the pockets. Stamp the textures image with Balmy Blue ink multiple times from the top down on the pocket image areas.
  • Stamp the textures image with Balmy Blue ink multiple times from the top down on the 1-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ Balmy Blue strip of cardstock.
  • Die-cut the pockets.
  • Use a wire cutter to remove the loops on two branch Bird Ballad Trinkets.

One of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is being able to order products early. So of course I’ve been having a blast playing around with my new goodies.

The card I’m sharing today is one that I mailed out to a few achieving demonstrators in my group. I’m in love with it! AND…it’s quite simple to make. I used new products from the Bird Ballad Suite: the Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards, the Bird Ballad Designer Paper, and the Free As A Bird Stamp Set and coordinating Stitched Nested Labels Dies.

Measurements…

  • Very Vanilla Cardstock
    • Scrap for die-cutting 2-5/8″ x 4-7/8″ Stitched Nested Labels piece
    • Scrap for stamping and die-cutting inside sentiment 1-3/4″ x 7/8″ Stitched Nested Labels piece

    • Scrap for die-cutting 2-1/16″ x 3-13/16″ Stitched Nested Labels piece
  • Old Olive 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon (retiring soon)
    • about 7″

Directions…

  • Stamp sentiments onto Very Vanilla pieces. Die-cut the inside sentiment. Trim the end of the outside sentiment strip.
  • After all pieces are die-cut (using the dies listed in the measurements section above), attach the designer paper to the Basic Black layer using SNAIL. Then attach the outside sentiment strip using a Dimensional at the “banner-cut” end and SNAIL at the other end. Trim up off the excess Very Vanilla that extends beyond the layered Nested Labels.
  • Add SNAIL Adhesive to the back of the large Very Vanilla 2-5/8″ x 4-7/8″ Stitched Nested Labels piece keeping the adhesive at least 1/4″ away from the outside edges. Open up the card and attach this piece so it is centered and straight. (Do not worry about the adhesive showing through on the front side. It will be covered by the front layered piece.)
  • Attach the layered piece to the front of the laser-cut card using more SNAIL.
  • Tie then add the bow to the front with a Glue Dot.

Getting those 250 2019-20 Annual Catalogs out the door this week! #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Tuesday with the help of my mom and husband, we got 100 of these new 2019-20 Annual Catalogs out the door for USPS to pick up yesterday. And then my mom helped me to get another 91 out the door for USPS to pick up today. PHEW! Normally I have Stampin’ Up! send them directly to my customers. But this time I wanted to do it myself so I could get them to my stampers right away, enclose a small gift, and ensure delivery. (Do you love how my husband’s shoes stick out on the lower left of the second photo? It the right angle, it looked like he got buried! hahaha)

If you live local to me, near Andover, Minnesota, let me know if you want me to set aside a catalog for you to pick up. (A big thank you to many of my local customers who are picking up their catalogs from my house in the coming days.) If you live further away, I’d be happy to mail you a free catalog. I just ask that you cover the shipping costs if you are not currently one of my customers. Click here, then scroll down to learn more.

Come see what I share on my blog… #stampyourartout - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I never shared with you the gifts I gave to my team members who attended Stampin’ Up!’s April 2019 OnStage event!

Once again I went to Tamara Davis from TaDa! Moments to see what wonderful new products she had. And I fell in love with her Take Your Pick Tool holders. Personally I struggled with keeping my tool parts in a place where I could always find them, so this was perfect! She finished my personalized gifts quickly and sent them to me so I had plenty of time to add belly bands and gift tags to each one.

Click here to see the gifts I gave to team members that attended OnStage April 2019. Tamra Davis at TaDa! Moments made and etched the Take Your Pick Tool holders. Then I wrapped the containers they came in (Stampin’ Up!’s Acetate Card Boxes) with belly bands and personalized gift tags that I made with products from the retiring How Sweet It Is suite: How Sweet It Is Designer Paper, Sweetest Thing Stamp Set, Jar Of Sweets Framelits, and the Coastal Cabana/Granny Apple Green Reversible Ribbon. I store my holder with the Tool parts outside of the acetate box for easy access. So I made another tag and turned the box into a new gift – a treat box filled with chocolates! #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I love how they came in and were made for Stampin’ Up!’s Acetate Card Boxes, too.

For the belly band of this one I layered these pieces together: a strip of 1″ x 12″ How Sweet It Is Designer Paper, a strip of 1-1/4″ x 12″ Bermuda Bay Cardstock, and a strip of 1-1/2″ x 12″ Coastal Cabana. (Some of my gifts also used Melon Mambo Cardstock.) Then as I wrapped this layered strip around the layers gave way a bit and shifted, so I ended up with a definite seam.

I then tied a 3″ piece of Coastal Cabana/Granny Apple Green Reversible Ribbon in a knot around a pin from the Sweet Pins & Tags kit and attached it to the seam with a Glue Dot with the pin opening forward so I could add the tag.

I stamped, punched & die-cut, and layered my tag pieces.

I even printed out a note that I folded up and sandwiched inside.

Just recently I decided to recycle the box and switch out the tag to create a NEW gift. I filled the box with chocolates. Yum!

Then I realized I wanted to decorate the box a bit more. So I took the chocolates out, lined the box with a 10-1/4″ x 5-3/4″ piece of designer paper (scored at 1/2″, 4-15/16″, 5-7/16″ and 9-7/8″), and put the chocolates back in.

I slipped the belly band back on and pinned on a new simple tag.

Berry Burst Bridge Fold Card

Berry Burst is a color that will retire soon since it’s part of the 2017-19 In Color collection. The last time my Stampers With ART group did make-n-takes we focused on projects showing these retiring colors. I shared three of the four projects on my blog already…

2017-19 In Colors! #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Today I’m sharing this beautiful bridge fold card to show off the last of the five colors, Berry Burst.

I’ve created this pretty floral bridge fold card with the Special Celebrations stamp set, Berry Burst Cardstock from the out-going 2017-19 In Color collection, the Petal Promenade Designer Paper, and the Lovely Flowers Edgelits Dies. Click here to learn more and get the details for recreating this card! #stampyourartout #stampinup - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

Here are the details if you’d like to recreate this card.

Measurements:

  • Berry Burst Cardstock
    • 8” x 4″ scored at 1” and 2-1/2″ from each end
    • 4″ x 2″
  • Whisper White Cardstock
    • Two pieces that are 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″
    • Scraps for die-cutting the flowers
  • Petal Promenade Designer Paper
    • Two pieces that are 3/4″ x 3-3/4″ (I used the purple floral design)
    • Two pieces that are 1-1/4″ x 3-3/4″ (I used the white slate design)
  • Berry Burst Metallic-Edge Ribbon
    • 2″
  • Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon
    • 2″

Products I used: See below for a list of products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Directions:

  • Stamp the “Happy Birthday” sentiment about an inch from the top of the vertical 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ Whisper White Cardstock piece.
  • Trim the ends of the ribbons at an angle, then add them to this 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ Whisper White piece using SNAIL. Wrap the other ends over to the back rather than trimming them off.
  • Stamp the “Hope your day…” sentiment on the other vertical 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ Whisper White Cardstock piece.
  • Fold Berry Burst card base as shown to get the shape of the card set up.
  • Adhere the Whisper White pieces and the 1-1/4″ x 3-3/4″ Petal Promenade strips.
  • Die-cut the 2″ x 4″ Berry Burst piece with the long detailed floral die. Add a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive along the outer edges of the backside of this piece.
  • Flatten the card base so one side of the card is extended open and the other is collapsed into a z-fold. Attach the die-cut piece flush ith the bottom of the card so the Tear & Tape is holding onto each of the 1″ wide outer sections of the card base. This is hard to explain well. So if it doesn’t make sense, this video may help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIWNsmMNkUM
  • Now adhere the 3/4″ x 3-3/4″ Petal Promenade strips.
  • Attach the two die-cut Whisper White flowers using Glue Dots. And finish them with a rhinestone centers.

ANNUAL CATALOG NEWS

Due to recent supplier issues (and other factors), Stampin’ Up! will no longer be carrying the current die-cutting machine and trimmer: The Big Shot and Stampin’ Trimmer will be retiring. These changes are giving Stampin’ Up! the opportunity to research and explore replacement options. And there will be a gap when we do not have a trimmer or die-cutting machine available. When the retiring list goes live on April 15, the order limit for the Stampin’ Trimmer Cutting Blade Refills will increase from three to six (and the limit will remain at six until they’re no longer available). And from now until September, SU will receive intermittent shipments from the supplier.

The dies and folders that will be offered will not be from our current supplier. So there will be small changes: the dies and folders will be manufactured differently; this means the way you use the new style of dies and folders will be a little different than how you used the old style. Both the new-style and old-style dies and embossing folders can work with any die-cutting & embossing machine (in some cases, adaptations like shims may be required because the gap between rollers on machines may vary slightly between manufacturers). Click here for more details regarding the changes to our die-cutting machine, dies and embossing folders.

I realize for many of you that this news may be a little jaw-dropping at first. I had a similar reaction. But after giving it a little more thought, reminding myself that change is an opportunity for new and better, and knowing what a strong company Stampin’ Up! has been for 30 years, I now anticipate some marvelous changes to come! And I’m excited.

Product News & Paper Pumpkin Goes Easter

Today I was going to just share my latest Easter-themed creations with the March 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit. But first I want to let you know about some Stampin’ Up!® product news – changes that you’ll see coming when the new 2019-20 Annual Catalog debuts in June.

It was announced yesterday that due to recent supplier issues (and other factors), Stampin’ Up! will no longer be carrying the current die-cutting machine and trimmer: The Big Shot and Stampin’ Trimmer will be retiring. These changes are giving Stampin’ Up! the opportunity to research and explore replacement options. And there will be a gap when we do not have a trimmer or die-cutting machine available.

Did you get the March 2019 Hoppin’ Birthday Paper Pumpkin kit? I designed the card so I could send them to a few of my lucky subscribers. And then I couldn’t stop creating eggs! hahaha So the pages were “born.”

How did I make the eggs? I use the Balloon Bouquet Punch that coordinates with the balloon image in the free bonus numbers stamp set that came in the kit!

Directions for the card:

  • Add the adhesive to the underside of the Granny Apple Green top and bottom edges, then attach the green to the diagonally striped strips. This layer can then be added to the Whisper White card base using Dimensionals.
  • After stamping the sentiment on the half banner piece, curl the end with a Bone Folder and attach to the card using SNAIL Adhesive.
  • Punch out the balloons and leaves. Trim the ends of the balloons to create the egg shapes. Attach the eggs and bow to the card using Dimensionals, Then slip in and add the leaf clusters using Glue Dots.
  • Adhere a few pearls for a little more sprinkle of color.

Now for the pages below, you’ll notice that I have six matching photo mats made from the envelopes in the kit. I had to use envelopes from TWO kits to get this many photo mats. So if you only have one kit, you can either use both the polka-dot lined envelopes AND the striped or just use Whisper White Cardstock.

Measurements of kit products:

  • Red & pink diagonally striped papers:
    • Two long edges from what is left over after removing the strips.
    • One strip for punching two small balloon shapes
  • Pale blue banner
    • 1/2 of one banner
  • Pink envelope liner
    • Scraps for punching two small balloon shapes
  • Blue card base
    • Scraps for punching three large balloon shapes
  • Pink card insert
    • Scrap for punching large balloon shape
  • Yellow card insert
    • Scrap of yellow present area for punching two small balloon shapes
  • Envelope flap lined with yellow stripes
    • Scrap for punching large balloon shape

Measurements of extra products:

  • Whisper White Cardstock
    • 2” x 12”
  • Granny Apple Green Cardstock
    • 12″ x 12″
    • 11″ x 12″
  • Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock
    • Scraps for punching leaves

Directions for the pages:

  • Use the scalloped label piece in the kit to form the basket. Turn it on its side. Trim off the bottom, and fold about 1/2″ over the top. Secure the folded over top by adhering it down with Dimensionals.
  • Punch out several balloons and leaves. Trim the ends of the balloons to create the egg shapes.
  • Mask “greetings” on the stamp by covering it with masking tape or washi tape. Ink it up. Then remove the tape and stamp it down. After stamping the sentiment on the half banner piece, curl the end with a Bone Folder.
  • Trim off about 1/16″ the sides of six envelopes to open them up. Then trim the printed area down to get photo mats that are 4-1/4″ x 5-3/4″ each.
  • Attach the 12″ x 11″ Granny Apple Green to the 2″ x 12″ Whisper White to create a full 12″ x 12″ page showing a 1″ strip of white on the right side. Then attach the diagonal striped strips just inside the green edge along the right side. (Lay both strips side by side and add the SNAIL to the back of them at once.) Where the strips meet up add a bow popped up on a Dimensional.
  • Lay out all the pieces as shown, and start assembling.
  • For the left page, I recommend adding the photo mats and the basket of eggs first. The 3 closest eggs and the basket are popped up on Dimensionals. The two in the back are adhered with SNAIL. Remember to add the bow (also on a Dimensional), the leaves, and the blue half banner.
  • Then add the numbers with Dimensionals, the four eggs and leaves in the bottom corner (the two middle are with Dimensionals), and the stamped grass images.

  • For the right page, I recommend adding the photo mats with tucked in leaves first, then stamping the grass images, and then adding the eggs. The yellow egg is added with a Dimensional. The blue egg is tucked under the green cardstock and attached with SNAIL.
  • Adhere a few pearls to finish the pages off. And be ready to get some great photos this Easter!
