I had a fun card-making event last week – my Stamp-A-Stack. In past posts I shared 2 of the 4 cards we made…Here's the first one. I used elements of the September Paper Pumpkin kit to create it. (It's the one with the three black embossed strips in the background.) The second one I posted was a sparkly cupcake card. It was definitely a favorite at the event.
Today I am sharing the 3rd one – the Telescoping Star card. This one was MY favorite!
We stamped the star on a 4"x4" piece of vanilla card stock, cut it out in 3 pieces using the square framelit dies, attached the pieces to the front of the card so they were lined up (the center square is on two layers of dimensionals so it is a bit higher than the layer just outside of it which is raised up on one layer of dimensionals), and then used the fabulous Confetti Star Border punch from the Holiday Catalog on the bottom front edge. Don't you just love it?!
All those punched out stars create "star confetti." So I made sure to glue one onto the stamped message on the inside.
This is a really versatile greeting card. It can be given to a female or a male, a child or adult, to someone celebrating a birthday, a retirement, a graduation, a holiday, etc. If you'd like to recreate it, be sure to shop my online store. The main products used are listed and linked to my store below.
I've been busy recording a couple "Finger Tips" videos. (The topics for these will be: Making Faker Shakers & Tying Knots.) I've also been working on my June Paper Pumpkin projects and hope to record a video on Monday if it works out with the boys cooperating here at home. So LOTS of helpful, idea-sharing videos will be coming your way VERY soon!
For today, I'd like to share two versions of the same train card. This first version is the simple one. I stamped the train from the new Traveler stamp set with Blackberry Bliss ink on Very Vanilla card stock and popped it up off the card with Dimensionals.
I also used the new Dictionary background stamp with Mossy Meadow ink on the Mossy Meadow banner piece. (My card base is made from a piece of 11" x 4-1/4" Crumb Cake card stock that's been folded in half.)
Quick and simple!
In this stepped up version below, I stamped the train image onto a piece of our Watercolor Paper for a more textured look then sponged the edges with Mossy Meadow ink. I also used the sponge on the Crumb Cake banner, the Mossy Meadow background layer (4" x 5-1/4"), and the Crumb Cake piece on the inside of the card.
If you look closely inside the card, I also added just a hint of the Dictionary stamp image to two of the corners on this Crumb Cake layer – the same corners that were sponged.
Doesn't the smoke coming out of the train look great with glitter? Pretty pollution! 😉
Thanks for visiting today!
Remember that $50 Starter Kit is only available through the end of June (for two more days)! You get $5 extra free with that kit! With the $99 Starter Kit (that is always available) you get $26 extra for free. Which kit will you choo-choo-choose? Click here to learn more.
June 1st (tomrorrow) is the last day to order from the Occasions "Celebrations" Catalog. One thing that always bums me out is saying good-bye to great packs of designer paper. (Hopefully you have these. If not, you may want to place a small order for them today.)
This pretty box was a make-n-take from Founder's Circle. It features this designer paper along with lots of other great products that will thankfully still be available after the Celebrations catalog has ended.
For this Stamp Camp card, we took strips of designer paper, cut them at a diagonal and layered them side-by-side on a slightly wider strip of coordinating card stock. By the way, the Antique Brad and the lobster image were colored in with the Cherry Cobber Blendabilities markers (that will be available to order in late June/early July). I'll keep you posted on when those markers will become available to all. The lobster was stamped with the new Momento pad that will be available later as well. So these items are not listed in the product list below.
But this Monday, I'll be attending Stampin' Up!'s Catalog Premiere event and will get to see all the new products in the new 2014-15 Annual Catalog! I'm sure the sadness I feel about these and some other retiring products will disappear when I start my new wish list.
As of last night, these products were still available. But hurry! The retiring products were only posted 5 days ago. And today is the last day of FREE shipping. If you order these or any other products today, you can save $ AND get what you want before it's gone.
This was a card we made at our last Card Café event in April. Beside graduations, this card design was also great for retirements, father's day cards, and masculine birthdays.
Lots of strong neutral tones were used: Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Naturals Ivory, Crumb Cake, and Brushed Gold. (See the list below to view all the supplies used to make this card.)
I have a few cards I've been wanting to share with you – cards made by others (swaps!). I loved them so much I used them in past classes/events.
This first card made by Kathy Ferguson has a lovely composition using the beloved stamp set, Summer Silhouettes (available in wood-mount or clear-mount).
This next card by Michelle Huff is a nice classic birthday card. She used two stamp sets: Embellished Events (available in wood-mount or clear-mount) and Bring On The Cake (available in wood-mount or clear-mount).
(Click here to see posts telling & showing how to color your stamp rubber with markers.)
This masculine card by Sandy Carlson was pretty popular. By The Tide (available in wood-mount or clear-mount) is one of my favorite sets. You can click here to see the birthday card I made my sister last year. Here are a few more posts showing pages and cards I've made with this set: 3/27/13, 4/16/13, and 6/27/13 with2/3/14.
The next two cards I used at past Card Café events, but I don't have any record anymore of who made the originals. 🙁
I love this next one using Wetlands (available in wood-mount or clear-mount)! Simple and stunning.
The color is applied with painter's tape. Place a strip of tape sticky side down on a stamp pad to ink it up. Then lay it on the card stock. It's a fun way to apply color!
The Fancy Fan embossed butterfly looks great either way (line detail up or down) as you can see in these photos. And many phrases in the Sweet Essentials set (available in wood-mount or clear-mount) work well with the design of this card.
For all you wheat-free, gluten-free, and/or paleo friends out there…Here is the perfect card to give to someone who isn't. At least you are passing the grains onto someone who will want them. LOL The funny thing is I didn't think anything of this stamp set image until I began writing this post this morning. Now I'm laughing my head off! (I'm gluten-free.)
Anyway…(trying to compose myself)…this really is a very beautiful stamp set. And here is a very simple, yet handsome card to make for someone for their fall birthday. (Thank you, Glenda, for the card idea!) My class attendees were able to make this one at last month's Card Café event. You will find the supply list is at the bottom of this post, and each item is linked to my online store.
I'm lovin' the burlap ribbon! How awesome that it is on sale this week, too!
If you feel like making a purchase in my online store this week, maybe you'd like to pass along some extra hostess perks to one of my club hostesses as a surprise?! I have 3 hostesses that will be closing out their orders on the 25th of this month. Feel free to enter one of these hostess codes below when ordering as a "pay it forward" gesture.
