Ta-da! Here is my second of 3 videos for the May Paper Pumpkin kit as promised BUT a little delayed – sorry. My boys didn't go off to Vacation Bible School this morning because the church lost electricity from a storm last night. Needless to say, I was a bit more distracted this morning trying to get this blog post done for you all today. LOL
Today I'd like to share with you an alternate card idea and matching gift box that I designed using the May 2014 My Paper Pumpkin Kit titled "Hey Man." Click on this video below to learn how to make them. Then see the photos below for close-up views. There are just a few extra supplies I used besides what came in my May 2014 kit. You can purchase those Stampin' Up! items in my online store. In the product list below, I've also included links to our new Prepaid Subscriptions if you want to order these kits for a set amount of time OR if you want to order these kits as a gift to someone you know will love them. (You can save money with the 6 and 12-month prepaid subscriptions.) Keep track of any loyalty points you earn. You can redeem collected points for a free stamp set of your choice!
This was a fun kit to work with!
Be sure to subscribe to my Youtube Channel so you can get emails when I post new videos. I still have another video to share using the contents of this May kit that I will post on Saturday. (I try to post videos showing alternate ideas with the Paper Pumpkin kits each month.)
Here are the projects I demonstrated in the video…
And here are the close-up photos!…
Check out yesterday's post to see how I created 12×12 scrapbook pages with this kit.
If you aren't a subscriber yet and you'd like to try out our "kit of creativity in the mail" program, click here to sign up. (This is the random month that my subscribers are getting a bonus gift from me, so by signing up in June, you will profit that much more!) Try it for a couple months to see what you think. If you decide it's not for you, there is no penalty for cancelling. OR purchase a prepaid subscription* (links are below).
I have a personal goal of gaining 6 more subscribers in the month of June! So I invite you to try it out. Remember you can cancel at anytime. But I think most of you will be hooked. Paper Pumpkin is fun! And it doesn't take that much time! Check out my Pinterest Board to see some other fun ideas using this kit and other past kits.
Have a great day, everyone!

*Because prepaid subscriptions are considered a one-time purchase, those purchasers will not show in my "subscriber" list. My random monthly gifts such as the surprise I'm sending out this month are only being sent to those active members on my "subscriber" list.
Product List – extra supplies needed for duplicating these projects AND links to prepaid subscriptions to My Paper Pumpkin if you would like to try it out or "gift" it to someone.
Here's a card that is sure to brighten your day even if the sun isn't shining in your neck of the woods. Thank you, Brenda Sprenger for this fabulous swap!
I loved this card so much, that my local stampers re-created it at last month's Stamp Camp class. (When you see the supplies used at the bottom of this post, take note that one item is no longer available – the Large Rhinestone Basic Jewels.)
Stamp sets with matching punches are THE BEST! Can you imagine hand-cutting all these flowers? It wasn't too many years ago that that's what us crafters had to do. Oh! And do you remember the day when we used brass templates and a stylus tool to dry-emboss our card stock?! Hahaha…I so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o love and appreciate embossing folders, punches, framelits, e-cutters, clear stamps, etc. The tools in the paper crafting world have come a long way.
I have some Paper Pumpkin ideas to share with you this week. I meant to share them last week, but wasn't able to get my creating and video-taping time in since it was the last week of school for my boys. Field trips, celebrating, and the craziness of end-of-year tasks took priority. Anyways, I will be ready to share with you my kit ideas very soon! So stay tuned.
Here's what this card looks like from a folded, closed position (3" x 5-1/2") showing flap 1… to a partially open position showing flap 2…
…to an almost open position showing flap 3 (a couple versions)…
…to a completely open position showing the message/greeting and the gift card/money pocket.
And this card is pretty easy to make! Here's how.
Start with a full sheet of Basic Black 8-1/2"x11" card stock. With the shorter edge perpendicular to the scoring blade of your trimmer, score in from one edge at 2-3/4" and at 5-1/2". This will create two sections that are 2-3/4" wide and one that is 3" wide. Then rotate your card stock so the longer edge is perpendicular. Score from one edge at 2-3/4". Flip your card stock around and score from the other edge at 2-3/4".
Remove all 4 outside corners cutting along those score lines. (These lines say "cut" in the photo above.) Then trim in a bit more off the two smaller flaps so that they will be easier to fold inside the card later.
Use the File Tab Edgelit on the 3" x 5-1/2" flap. (You will have to fold in the opposite flap to get your card to fit into the Big Shot to cut with the edgelit.)
Then assemble! Those extra pieces extend the left side flap a bit and hide the gift enclosed.
My team of demonstrators made this at our last event a few weeks ago. And my club members will be making this next week. Want to be a part of the hands-on fun? Back in April demonstrators around the globe sent cards, gifts, notes, emails, treats, FB posts, tweets, etc. to Stampin' Up!® demonstrator support employees in show of appreciation for all that they do for us. Here are just a few of the cards that the stampers on my team created using extra Paper Pumpkin kit pieces and the Whisper White Note Cards:
Monday was "catch up" day for me. Yesterday I helped to chaperone an all-day field trip with Nick's second grade class. So this afternoon on my last day before the kiddos are home for the summer (this is their last day of the school year), I hope to get some good quality time with my May Paper Pumpkin kit. Afterall, Father's Day is right around the corner.
If you haven't played with your May kit yet, open it up! Here's a quick video from Stampin' Up! that reveals the contents of the May 2014 My Paper Pumpkin Kit.
The June Kit will be on it's way very soon. And it's a spectacular one – lots of content AND lots of possibilities for alternate projects! If you haven't climbed on board the Paper Pumpkin bandwagon yet, there are now lots of choices for how to take part…
Or simply subscribe at www.mypaperpumpkin.com to get your ongoing boxes of creativity in the mail each month. (There is no penalty if you decide you need to cancel for any reason.) At just $19.95 per month, you can't go wrong.
I love the first day of the new catalog! It's so exciting knowing I'll get my hands on new products soon.
If you plan to place an online order today for new catalog products, keep in mind that the ordering system will be down until noon Mountain Time. No ordering will be able to take place while Stampin' Up! transitions the system to the new 2014-2015 Annual catalog and Celebrando catalog.
June 1st (tomrorrow) is the last day to order from the Occasions "Celebrations" Catalog. One thing that always bums me out is saying good-bye to great packs of designer paper. (Hopefully you have these. If not, you may want to place a small order for them today.)
This pretty box was a make-n-take from Founder's Circle. It features this designer paper along with lots of other great products that will thankfully still be available after the Celebrations catalog has ended.
For this Stamp Camp card, we took strips of designer paper, cut them at a diagonal and layered them side-by-side on a slightly wider strip of coordinating card stock. By the way, the Antique Brad and the lobster image were colored in with the Cherry Cobber Blendabilities markers (that will be available to order in late June/early July). I'll keep you posted on when those markers will become available to all. The lobster was stamped with the new Momento pad that will be available later as well. So these items are not listed in the product list below.
