Do you need a few more alternate project ideas for the August 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit? The ones I am sharing today were five more samples I sent to Stampin’ Up!® for their latest Facebook Live that aired on September 1st. I had also sent them the blue cake card I featured here on my blog on August 23rd and the accordion display gift album I showed off and blogged about on August 27th. I recommend watching that live to see not only the ideas I submitted, but a whole bunch of other fun alternates shared by my peers.

These first two are sweet & simple-to-make Matchbook RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) Notecards…mini cards that you can leave for someone when you want to thank them, tip them, or just brighten their day to let them know how special they are.

I’m excited to show you a few more alternate project that I came up with using the contents of the August 2020 “World’s Greatest” Paper Pumpkin kit. These five ideas (a flap fold card, two matchbook RAK notecards, another slider window card, and another pop-open cube card) were all featured in Stampin’ Up’s Paper Pumpkin Facebook Live on 9/1/20! Click here to access measurements, directions, more close-up photos, and links to the products I used. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

They close like a matchbook and open to reveal either a sweet handwritten message, cash, or BOTH.

Tips for making the blue one:

  • Cut a blue card base from kit in half to get two 2-3/4″ x 8-1/2″ pieces. Trim 1″ off one end, and score in 5/8″ from the other end.
  • Fold on the two score lines. Staple the bottom narrow 5/8″ section over and down placing that staple in the center of that section. This will allow you to tuck in a folded dollar bill and then fold and tuck the top flap over to close.
  • Then decorate the top with pieces from the kit.

Tips for making the green one:

  • Cut a green card base from kit in quarters to get four 2-1/8″ x 5-1/2″ pieces. Score at 5/8″ and again at 3-1/4″.
  • Fold on the two score lines. Staple the bottom narrow 5/8″ section over and down placing that staple in the center of that section. It’s a smaller notecard, but you can still tuck in a double-folded dollar bill if you wish. Then fold and tuck the top flap over to close.
  • Stamp the inside using the masking technique: Stamp the circular image on scrap paper. Fussy-cut around it to create the “mask.” Stamp the image towards the top of the open flap. Cover the stamp image up with the “mask.” Then stamp two more times just to the lower left and lower right of that first circle. Remove the mask to reveal a layered look.
  • Close then decorate the top with pieces from the kit.

Money isn’t necessary. These matchbook-style RAK cards can simply contain a hand-written message. But aren’t they a cute and unique way to brighten someone’s day?

This next one is a Flap Fold Card. I applied the fun fold I’ve been sharing lately (on 8/19/20, 8/20/20, and 9/5/20) to make this celebratory “You deserve a medal” card.

Measurements:

  • Whisper White Cardstock
    • 5-1/2” x 11” scored parallel to the short end at 5-1/2” then scored again at 1-3/4” from one end and 1-1/4” from the other end
    • 1-1/4″ x 10″
  • Green card base from the kit
    • 3-1/2” x 5-1/2”
    • 1” x 5-1/2”
    • 1” x 5-1/2”
  • Blue card base from the kit
    • 3-1/2” x 5-1/2”
    • 1-1/2” x 5-1/2”
  • Ribbon from the kit
    • 12″
  • Copper Foil Sheet
    • Scrap for die-cutting small scallop circle
  • Silver Foil Sheet
    • Scrap for die-cutting small scallop circle

Directions/Tips:

  • Click here to see the flap fold cards I shared on August 19th (and to watch the how-to video and tips for preparing the card base and adding the patterned paper).
  • Stamp three “hanging medal ribbon” images on the inside: Stamp one 1/8″ from the left and another 1/8″ from the right. Then stamp the third one centered between the first two. I recommend stamping at varying lengths. And to get the light blue color, first stamp the Pacific Point image onto scrap paper. Then without re-inking stamp it onto the card.
  • Die-cut and add the copper and silver scallop circles. Then add the gold scallop circle (from the kit) with Dimensionals after stamping and embossing it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
  • Add the stars with Fine Tip Glue and allow to dry.

  • Close the card and wrap the Whisper White belly band so the seam is in the back. Use Tear & Tape to secure. Trim a “V” into one end of the ribbon. Wrap and add to the belly bandy with Tear & Tape.
  • Use elements from the kit to create the focal point for the band. When attaching to the belly band, add the largest blue circle so it is centered underneath the band.

  • Then add the layering pieces on top. I recommend the Tear & Tape Adhesive for the parts that are directly connected to the belly band.

These last two ideas are slight variations of two fun fold cards I already shared on August 23rd. The first is a Slider Window Card. And the second is a Pop-Open Cube Card. Click on this link to see those original cards I shared and to watch the how-to video that demonstrates how to put them together.
