The March 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit couldn’t have come at a better time! The messages and images are supportive, fresh and cheerful. The world seems a bit upside-down with the COVID-19 virus pandemic, and social distancing can be lonely, boring, or even stressful for some of us. So I created my projects keeping this in mind.
The kit is titled No Matter the Weather. It included a bonus stamp set (Yay!!) and supplies to put together twelve 3-1/2” x 5” note cards and envelopes. It included the supplies shown below.
I like to think outside the box…see what else I can come up with, and create alternate cards, scrapbook pages and more. So I added the extra supplies in the product list at the bottom of this post to the above kit contents and created my alternate projects that I’m sharing with you today:
- Triple the cards in the kit (You can make 36 full size cards!)
- A gift-your-neighbor box
- A couple “matchbook” day brighteners
Watch my video first to get to get measurements, directions, and tips (you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog). Scroll down to see close-up photos, access the links that I mentioned in my video, and see a list of extra supplies (linked to my online store) that I used to make my creations. Then be sure to visit my blog again soon, because I have many more alternate projects that I’ll be sharing soon. ?
Here are the cards the kit instructs how to make.
And here are close-up photos of the alternate projects I made and shared in my video. (Remember to watch the video first to get measurements, tips and directions.)

So cute Rachel! Looking forward to making some of your alternative cards! Hope you and your family are staying safe. Thank God for crafting to give us a little escape from this crazy time! Be well!
Thanks Jean. Well wishes to you too!
Wow! Such great projects! Thank you for thinking outside the box for us!
?Thanks Lynndorian
So cute, and useful. Here are a couple of tips that might help you with the twine tying. Snip a tiny, tiny snip on the paper where you want the twine to go, snip on each edge. Start your wrap in the tiny snip and wrap. The tiny snip will keep the twine from slipping and cover the tiny snip. the tiny snip is like what you see on a thread spool, just to hold the twine.
To tie a bow (or knot) while your alone with no help is to hold the twine with reverse tweezers as you manipulate the tying. Hope that helps and I love your videos and how well you instruct and tell the why of it.
Great tips to share with others! Thanks Cindy.
Great ideas! I love how you were able to make 36 cards with the one kit. Going to try this, too! My husband goes to a Veteran’s art class every Friday night. Of course I drive him there, so I stay and work on cards. Paper pumpkin kits are great for this time, because everything I need is in that one box. If I include the supplies for the alternate cards, I can make even more. It’s good exposure for Stampin Up, too. Haven’t made any sales but I am generating interest.
Thanks Carol! Great idea to bring your Paper Pumpkin kit with you…something to do. AND it’s portable.
Love your cards!! Thanks for sharing. Any chance you can share the measurements for the matchbook cards? I think they’d be great to mass make for the medical team at the hospital my daughter works at ?
Thanks Sharolyn!
The measurements for those candies are in the video starting around thee 50 minute mark. Hope that helps. 🙂
I came across your YouTube video when searching for alternative ideas for this kit. I love your cards and made mine the same. I may have had to change up things with what I had in my stash, but you were the inspiration! thank you so much for sharing your talent!
I’m so glad you enjoyed my ideas Crystal. Thank you so much!
