Welcome to the January 2020 Maui Achievers Blog Hop! I’m sharing a few versions of the same card today, and I’d love to know which one is your favorite.
Follow along and check out all the other blogs in the hop (click on the names of the participants in the list below my signature) so you can see some fabulous cards and projects created by other demonstrators who also earned the Stampin’ Up!® Maui incentive trip coming up in July of 2020.
I made each of my cards all with the same base set of supplies including one of my favorite new stamp sets that just debuted in the 2020 Spring Catalog, Forever Blossoms. (See below for a complete list of products I used in these cards linked to where you can find them in my online store.) I’ll share the base measurements, and then I’ll give tips for each card so you can then recreate any of them if you so desire.
Measurements…
- Basic Black Cardstock
- 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” scored parallel to the short edge at 4-1/4”
- Scrap that is at least 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ for optional layer (each of my cards has a slightly different size layer)
- Shimmery White Cardstock
- 4″ x 5-1/4″
- 4″ x 2-3/4″ (for the inside)
- 4″ x 1/2″ strip
- Ribbon (Mint Macaron 1/8″ Sheer Linen or Petal Pink Metallic-Edge)
- up to 7″
Let’s start with this one and call it card #1…
I stamped my image on the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Shimmery White piece. And then I trimmed in 1-1/8″ on all four sides to remove the center. I colored that center piece using my Blender Pen and ink from the lid of my ink pads, and mounted it onto my scrap Basic Black that I trimmed to 2″ x 3-1/4″. On this card my sentiment strip (which I trimmed down to fit better) is attached with SNAIL on the left and a Dimensional on the right. My bow on the left I added with a Glue Dot. And the 4″ x 2-3/4″ Shimmery White is just added to the inside (most of my cards are like that on the inside).
This one is card #2…
I colored the whole image this time BEFORE cutting. And then I trimmed in 1″ on all four sides to remove the center. I colored that center piece using my Blender Pen and ink from the lid of my ink pads but this time with a little lighter touch. I mounted it onto my scrap Basic Black that I trimmed to 2-1/4″ x 3-1/2″. My sentiment strip is attached with Dimensionals on the right and the left. Then I just tied a knot and added it with a Glue Dot in the lower right.
This is card #3…
I stamped my image on the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Shimmery White piece. And then I punched a portion out with my 2″ Circle Punch. I colored that piece using my Blender Pen and Watercolor Pencils, and mounted it onto a 2-1/4″ Basic Black Circle. Because my circle was off to the left a bit, I added my sentiment strip (which I trimmed down) is attached with Dimensionals coming in from the right. My bow is added with a Glue Dot. And I embellished the three colored flower centers with Champagne Rhinestones.
This is card #4…
I stamped my image on the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Shimmery White piece. And then I removed the middle with the 1-7/8″ x 3-3/16″ Stitched Rectangle Die and colored that piece using my Blender Pen and ink from the lid of my ink pads. I mounted this onto a 2″ x 3-3/8″ Basic Black piece. And I attached my bow in the lower right with a Glue Dot.
I did something a little different for the inside of this card, though. I thought this was a fun place to add my sentiment strip.
And this is card #5…
I’m not a fan of this one because I messed up on the watercoloring. hahaha! For this card I stamped my image on the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Shimmery White piece, but I didn’t remove the center to do any spotlighting. Then I colored across the whole piece using my Aqua Painter and ink from the lid of my ink pads. I attached two strips of my ribbon coming from the top right and lower right areas of my sentiment, attached the strip with a Dimensional under the left and Glue Dots under the right and trimmed off the excess before attaching it to my Basic Black card base. I finished it by adding Champagne Rhinestones to the four flower centers.
I’m curious…which one do YOU like the best?
