Here is a fun treat packaging idea inspired by the English Christmas crackers. These boxes resemble giant candy wrappers but can hold a lot more (depending on the size). I shared how to make these in my Facebook Live broadcast that aired September 24th. And now I’m sharing the photos, directions, measurements, and supplies here today.

The first ones I made with the Brightly Gleaming Designer Series Paper I basically just CASEd from page 31 in the 2019 Holiday Catalog.

Products I used: See below for a complete list of products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.

Then I made a few the same size with the See a Silhouette Designer Paper.

Measurements for large cracker box:

  • Designer paper
    • 8-3/4″ x 9″ scored parallel to the long side at 1-3/4″, 3-1/2″, 5-1/4″ and at 7″
  • Ribbon for bows
    • 12-14″ (two pieces – one for each end)

Directions for large cracker box:

  • After scoring paper, fold on creases and connect the two end panels together with two long strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive to form the rectangular prism. (Flatten to connect evenly.)
  • While still flattened, fully insert small ornament punch from the Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack. Line up score line going through the center of the paper with the center of the ornament, and punch. Do this at both ends.
  • Open and flatten on the other crease lines, then repeat the step above.
  • Insert treat or candy.
  • Use Blends marker to color ribbons.
  • Tie ribbons around the punched areas of each end to cinch box shut. (There will be a small gap at each end, but don’t tighten ribbon beyond or you may tear the paper.)
  • Add any other decorations (stamped or punched images) if you wish.
  • Storage area of this box size is about 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ x 4-3/4″.

After making these large ones, I decided to see how I could alter these measurements to work with a 6″ x 6″ piece of designer paper so I could get 4 boxes from one full sheet of 12″ x 12″ rather than just one.

They are smaller of course, but still a good size!

You’ll notice that the ribbon length is shorter for the smaller box, but that’s only because I tied knots instead of bows.

Measurements for small cracker box:

  • Designer paper
    • 6″ x 6″ scored parallel to the long side at 1-3/8″, 2-3/4″, 4-1/8″ and at 5-1/2″
  • Ribbon for knots
    • 5-6″ (two pieces – one for each end)

Directions for small cracker box:

  • After scoring paper, fold on creases and connect the 1/2″ section to the last panel on the other end using a long strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive to form the rectangular prism. (Flatten to connect evenly.)
  • While still flattened, fully insert 1″ Circle Punch. Line up score line going through the center of the paper with the center of the circle, and punch. Do this at both ends.
  • Open and flatten on the other crease lines, then repeat the step above.
  • Insert treat or candy.
  • Use Blends marker to color ribbons.

World Card Making Day is this Saturday, October 5th. This is a special day of the year to celebrate and create. Stampin’ Up! would love for our paper crafters to be a part of this special celebration by then making the following week (October 7-12) World Card Sending Week. They have sent out a challenge to our demonstrators to send 50,000 cards that week—that’s about one per demonstrator, but of course our customers’ cards count too! So report back to me to let me know when you’ve mailed out a hand-crafted card during that week. I’ll keep a tally, and then I’ll report our amount sent to Stampin’ Up! (Personally I think we can surpass this goal.)
