#APaperPumpkinThing
Hooray! Today is the day where a creative team of us Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators bring to you our special “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop. See what I have to share, then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see additional creative alternate paper crafting project ideas that we each came up with using the contents of the August 2018 “Blissful Blooms” Paper Pumpkin kit. To follow the hop, simply scroll down and click on the names of other participants in the hop to see other creative projects.
This is one of my all-time favorite kits. The products and colors are beautiful, the embellishments are gorgeous and easy to work with. And the sentiments are fantastic. Click here to see the August kit video put out by Stampin’ Up! where you can view how to make these cards as intended.
There is a sentiment in this stamp set that is very touching for sympathy cards. So when I made my projects for the hop this month, I had in mind items that could be made quickly and shared at a memorial service.
This first one is a simple tissue holder. You could make one and give it as a gift to a loved one who experienced loss. Or many of these could be put together and be made available at the service for anyone who forgot to bring their own tissues. OR…change out the sentiment and give to someone as a get well gift or a back to school gift.
If you wish to recreate this tissue holder with your kit contents, follow the measurements and directions below.
Measurements of kit products:
- Card base with flowers in the center: Cut 5/8″ off each long side, then score parallel to the short edge (starting on the floral side) at 1″, 3-1/4″, 4-1/4″ (already scored), and 6-1/2″. Then trim at 7″.
- Flirty Flamingo Twine: 20″
Extra Stampin’ Up! Products I Used: See below for a full list of extra supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Directions:
- After cutting and scoring the card base, fold up and around a personalized tissue packet. (You may need to adjust the measurements to fit other brands of tissue.) Then secure shut by putting Tear & Tape Adhesive on the last 1/2″ wide section and securing shut.
- Stamp the sentiment on the large label.
- Wrap twine around the top and tie in a bow. Shift bow so it’s towards the bottom and has room for the sentiment piece.
- Place Dimensional on tissue holder where sentiment will sit. (Use the bottom Dimensional to also attach a vellum leaf embellishment.
- Adhere the sentiment piece.
- Then add a couple Frosted Epoxy Droplets (new in the 2018 Holiday catalog that will debut on September 5th!).
This second project idea I have for you today is this set of photo pages. Make several sets. And then fill the pages with photos of the loved one who passed on, and put them on display at their memorial service. The pages can then be transferred to a photo album afterwards. Of course, changing the sentiment can change these pages to a whole other theme. These floral pages would be great for showing photos of prom, a wedding, a shower, etc.
If you wish to recreate these pages with your kit contents, follow the measurements and directions below.
Measurements of extra products:
- Whisper White Cardstock:
- 12″ x 12″ (two)
- Basic Black Cardstock (for matting photos):
- 3-5/8″ x 2-11/16″ (ten)
- 3-5/8″ x 5-5/8″ (two)
- 3-3/4″ x 5-5/8″ (two)
- Basic Black Cardstock (for layer under sentiment):
- 3-1/2″ x 1-3/4″
Measurements of kit products:
- Card base with flowers around outside edge (2):
- cut on score line and just use the floral half
- for second card base cut on score line, then cut 1-3/4″ off one side and 1-3/4″ off the other side to get two 1-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ strips
- Card base with flowers in the center: cut on score line and just use the floral half
Extra Stampin’ Up! Products I Used: See below for a full list of extra supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Directions:
- Stamp the sentiment.
- Attach all photo mat pieces and floral printed pieces to pages as shown. There will be about 1/4″ for the gaps in-between. And the two floral strips should attach from the outer edges of the page and meet with a gap in between as shown below.
- Punch both ends of the 3-1/2″ x 1-3/4″ Basic Black cardstock piece. Then adhere sentiment piece.
- Put SNAIL adhesive in the gap between the floral strips, and adhere vellum leaf embellishments so they will be coming out on the left.
- Attach sentiment piece with Dimensionals.
- Add a few Clear Epoxy Droplets (new in the 2018 Holiday catalog that will debut on September 5th!) to various areas on the page.
