It is always difficult at this time of year to know what to share when. Those of us who are demonstrators are already drooling over the new stamp sets and products that will be available soon in the new catalog because we need to plan ahead for our events. Unfortunately we sometimes forget that our customers, class attendees, and blog viewers that are NOT demonstrators can't get their hands on these items yet.
So today I thought I'd share a few cards I received as swaps recently that feature CURRENT floral stamp sets (ones that are available now) that will REMAIN current when the new catalog begins June 1st. So really, these flowers will last another whole year at least! I sure wish real flowers could stay in full bloom that long here in Minnesota. 😉
This first card made by Brenda Georgi features the Flower Shop stamp set.

What a fun yet simple layout. I love that this stamp set can be paired with it's coordinating punch and can also be purchased in a bundle for 15% off.

This next card made by Dianna Richards shows off the Rose Wonder stamp set and retiring Botanical Garden jewels.

I did a class recently with this next stamp set, Grateful Bunch.

It's a favorite of mine, so I'm glad I swapped with Susie Wood to get her pretty card.

What would I do if Butterfly Basics was leaving!?

I'm so glad it will also be around for another year. Cheryl Lee made this great swap card. And if you missed the baseball scrapbook pages and card I made with the fern leaf in this set, then you need to click here to check them out.

I'm also pretty happy that the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies will be staying.

I adore them. And I loved Kimberly Meyers' card shown here so much, that I used her card as inspiration for one of my January Stamp-A-Stack cards.

The last card I am sharing with you today created by Amy Combs features a stamp set I do NOT own…

…yet!
Good thing it will be around for another year. Helping Me Grow is going on my wish list.

Here's a card that is sure to brighten your day even if the sun isn't shining in your neck of the woods. Thank you, Brenda Sprenger for this fabulous swap!
I loved this card so much, that my local stampers re-created it at last month's Stamp Camp class.
(When you see the supplies used at the bottom of this post, take note that one item is no longer available – the Large Rhinestone Basic Jewels.)

Stamp sets with matching punches are THE BEST! Can you imagine hand-cutting all these flowers? It wasn't too many years ago that that's what us crafters had to do. Oh! And do you remember the day when we used brass templates and a stylus tool to dry-emboss our card stock?! Hahaha…I so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o love and appreciate embossing folders, punches, framelits, e-cutters, clear stamps, etc. The tools in the paper crafting world have come a long way.

I have some Paper Pumpkin ideas to share with you this week. I meant to share them last week, but wasn't able to get my creating and video-taping time in since it was the last week of school for my boys. Field trips, celebrating, and the craziness of end-of-year tasks took priority. Anyways, I will be ready to share with you my kit ideas very soon! So stay tuned.
Have a fabulous day everyone!

If a picture is worth a thousand words, than I'm going to be VERY wordy today.
Here's a card we made at Stamp Camp last month. It was a little putsy, but Stamp Camp isn't for the timid stamper. And although this card took some time and patience, it was a favorite. I personally LOVE the colors. The flowers are such a "yummy" pale yellow, they remind me of lemon meringue pie.

If you are interested in recreating this card, be sure to check out the visual supply list at the bottom of this post to see if there is anything you need to order.
To prevent the powder sticking where it shouldn't, rub your vellum with the embossing buddy.

Stamp flower images with VersaMark ink.

Emboss with White Stampin' Emboss Powder.

Use a dauber to apply Classic ink to the back of each embossed flower.

Emboss this ink with Iridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss Powder.

You can see a bit of shimmer from the back side showing through.

Punch out your flowers.

Punch some butterflies from Pistachio Pudding card stock, then sponge the edges with coordinating ink.

Wheel a pretty yet subtle design on a strip of Shimmery White card stock. (My strip is 1"x11".)

Cut it in half.

Sponge the edges with Pistachio Pudding ink.

Here's the layout of what my front and inside will look like. (I like to place my pieces where I want them, then take a digital photo. This way when I add the adhesives, I can look back on my photo to see where I thought they looked best.)

The front and inside pieces of Shimmery White card stock are each 5-1/4"x4". Trim each of the wheeled strips to 5-1/4" long.

Add adhesive to the back of each strip.

Wrap linen thread around the strips.

Tape the strips down, then add the flowers with Dimensionals. Be gentle though! The Dimensionals can remove the embossing and that won't look pretty.

OH! And before adding all the flowers, be sure to stamp your greeting. The Stamp-A-Ma-Jig stamp positioner is one of my best friends. I LOVE this tool.

Start adding all the flowers and butterflies.

Embellish with pearls and rhinestones.

And your card is complete!

My stampers are very excited to make this peeking chick card tonight at Stamp Camp.

It opens and closes!

Let me show you how to make this fun card.
1. Use the largest smooth oval in the Oval Collections Framelits and die-cut an oval from a piece of double-sided designer paper and a matching neutral card stock. I used Venecian Romance paper and Whisper White card stock.

2. The oval is 4-1/2" tall. Cut the designer paper in half at 2-1/4". Then trim off a eighth from each flat end. OR… Position the paper in the trimmer at 2-3/8" and cut, and then again at…

…2-1/8" and cut so you are trimming away 1/4" in the center of the egg.

3. Now flip one egg half over so you have two different designs.
4. Tape the bottom one down so you have the ability to still tuck your chick in later.

5. Now it's time to make the scallop center edging. Using a piece of coordinating card stock (Pistachio Pudding) that is at least 4" long and 3/4" wide and die-cut it perfectly in half length-wise using the scallop edgelit in the Adorning Accents set of edgelits.

6. Adhere one half to the top egg paper. (The 2-Way Glue Pen works great so that you don't get any adhesive on the scallop part of the paper.
7. Line the top egg paper up with the base white egg piece, and pierce a hole on the left side. This is where your brad will go to allow you to open and shut your egg card. But the brad won't go in until we've added the flowers.

8. Now with everything lined up, attach the bottom scalloped trim. Cut off the excess sticking out the sides. It helps to turn your egg over to do the trimming.

9. Now stamp your flowers with coordinating inks. And cut or punch them out.

10. Use a bone folder to curl the petals on your flowers. Then attach them by piercing a hole in the center of the flowers, lining the holes up with the hole on the egg card, and adding a brad.

(I added depth first by layering the flowers with a Dimensional inbetween.)

(Our Candy Dots Brad Bases are fabulous brads. You can add the Candy Dots in the center OR you can add our Pearls or Rhinestones.)

11. Time to add the baby chick! I used the Starburst framelits to make the head…

…and the following punches for the beak and eyes. (See the supply list at the bottom of this post to see all the product used to make this card.)

12. Attach the head to the card, and then the eyes and beak. (Trim as shown to form the beak. And trim off a bit of the yellow head if you need to to slip it into the bottom part of the card.)

13. Attach any extra flowers. I added a couple extra with mini brads.

14. Stamp your card message, punch, and attach.
Now you are done!

Here are some close ups of the finished card.

Here is a simple and elegant card that could be given for many different occasions…as a sympathy, a wedding, an anniversary, a birthday, a get well, a thinking of you, a thank you, an Easter, a graduation, a retirement, etc. The cards with pretty floral floral images always seem to be SO versatile.

Dazzling Details was my "sparkle of choice" for this card. It added a raised center to the flower without being too obvious like a Large Rhinestone might have been.

The Dimensional underneath and the curl of the petals with the Bone Folder help to create a more realistic flower.

This stamp set is one of my favorites! I love that so many of our Stampin' Up! products coordinate. This stamp set can be purchased with it's matching punch, and the bundle of the two products together saves a purchaser 15%. (See the supply list below. Clicking on the images will lead you to finding them in my online store.)

My design was inspired by a swap card that I received from my sister demonstrator, Carol Rosengren. She CASEd the design from one that Becky Roberts made and shared on her blog. Becky's card used Stippled Blossoms (wood-mount or clear-mount), A Dozen Thoughts (wood-mount or clear-mount), and the Rhinestone Basic Jewels. (Sharing is such a wonderful thing!) Thank you, Becky and Carol.
