My son, Luke had his postponed hernia surgery yesterday. (Some of you may recall that he was originally scheduled for July 18 but came down with a fever the night before.) He wasn’t excited to have the procedure done, but he was a brave kiddo the whole way. I was so proud of him!
It was laparoscopic surgery, so he just has a few small incisions in the abdomen. And though he will be limited on activities for about a month, the healing should be much easier than it could have been had they done a larger incision.
The surgeon and hospital staff were wonderful at the University of Minnesota. And we were very grateful that they took such good care of him. In fact Dr. Segura even found another small hernia during the operation and repaired that at the same time. Bonus! ?
My project today is an easy-to-make card that features the Royal Peacock Stamp Set. I sent this card to a team member. But the message goes so well with how I’m feeling about my son, that it made sense to share it today.
Measurements…
- Pretty Peacock Cardstock
- 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″ and folded in half for the card base
- Bermuda Bay Cardstock
- Scrap for stamping and punching 2″ Circle
- 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ (for the inside layer)
- Whisper White Cardstock
- 2-1/8″ x 5-1/4″
- Noble Peacock Designer Paper
- 1/2″ x 5-1/4″
- 1-1/8″ x 5-1/4″

Directions…
- Using Pretty Peacock ink, stamp then punch the sentiment.
- Stamp the peacock full body image with Bermuda Bay ink on the Whisper White piece. Then stamp the tail feather accent image with Pretty Peacock ink.
- Using SNAIL Adhesive attach the two strips of designer paper on the right and left side of the card front first. Attach the Whisper White layer. Then adhere the Bermuda Bay layer to the inside of the card.
- Add the sentiment circle with Dimensionals so it sits halfway on the white and designer paper layers.
- Finish off with two rhinestones so they line up with the gap between the white and designer paper layers.
Our June and July summer months were pretty intense around here. So this week we are laying low, helping Luke to heal, and hoping to play catch up a bit. Anyone want to help me clean my house? In fact we are hoping for a mellow August. So I’ve decided not to offer product shares for the upcoming Holiday catalog just to reduce my workload for the time being. So glad the surgery went well. As a mother, it is so tough to watch our kids go through rough times. Hugs to both of you!
This is the 5th surgery (3 for Nick and one other for Luke) that I’ve been through. And though it’s easier, it is still tough to see them go through this. My parents were here with us the past 24 hours, and I started crying when I said goodbye to them this AM. I put up a strong front for Luke, but I fell apart when my mom and dad left because I guess I felt okay being weak in front of them.
So glad to hear you son is feeling better! I’m going to ask you to PLEASE share this message with everyone! My son is slowly dying. There is something that can be done for him. I’m NOT asking for money, I ‘m begging for PRAYERS! He needs to have gallbladder surgery. Normally this wouldn’t be a issue, But, he has a blockage that’s causing him to be very sick. His white cell count is suppose to be in the low 100’s his is in the low 1,000’s. My son’s name is Micheal. PLEASE, anyone who’s a mother understand where I’m coming from. Than you for taking the time to read this and Thank YOU and God Bless everyone. I’ve been this surgery with both my sons. It was the time for you to cry, we all need that time when our loved one is better. Or kids are tough sometimes and we as mother’s are not. Be thankful for the tears about your son getting better! Prayers for Luke. Moms are definitely allowed tears as it is tough keeping up the positive front. Sons get their strength from their parents and Nick and Luke seem to have had good examples to follow. Your family has had a troubled and sad season recently. Rachel, prayers of comfort for your family. We lost my father in law last July,(2018). He always called us on out anniversary and the last time I heard his voice was on June 28th telling me how proud he was of Terry and me for celebrating out 44th anniversary. The last thing he said to me was I love you. I treasure that conversation. I really think that God gives us the blessing of memories so that we may take them out and visit with our loved ones anytime we need to. So glad to know your son is on the mend too. What a mighty God we serve!
