Each month I send out a card that I designed with the recent Paper Pumpkin kit to a few of my subscribers. And today I am excited to share that special card with you. This simple, elegant, almost black-and-white card is designed with elements of the April 2019 Sentimental Rose kit and a few extra tools and supplies.
Measurements of kit supplies…
- Script print card base
- 2-1/2″ x 7″
- Envelope or another card base
- Scrap of white for stamping and cutting out leaves image
Measurements of extra supplies…
- Basic Gray Cardstock
- 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ and folded in half
- Mint Macaron Cardstock
- Scrap for punching out leaves
- Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon
- about 17″
Products I used… See below for a list of products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Here’s a photo of the cards the kit is intended to make.
I loved the card base with the script design from this kit, so I cut it in half to get two pieces that measured 2-1/2″ x 7″ with a score line down the middle separating the script design from the white unprinted half. (I only needed one 2-1/2″ x 7″ piece for each card. So from 3 script card bases I was able to make 6 of these cards.)
After doing a test of my gray inks – Gray Granite (the ink color that came in the kit), Smoky Slate, and Basic Gray, I decided that Basic Gray matched the script print the best. (Gray Granite had a tan hue and Smoky Slate was too light.)
Here are directions if you wish to recreate this card with your kit contents (or revise it to work with other supplies you may have).
Directions…
- Position the 2-1/2″ x 7″ piece with the script pattern to the right. Stamp the rose image from the kit’s stamp set using Basic Gray ink in the bottom right corner of this piece. And add a large Rhinestone to the center of the flower.
- Then trim 2-3/4″ off the left end (white end) of this piece, and adhere the remaining 4-1/4″ x 2-1/2″ piece across the front of your Basic Gray card base about 1″ from the top and 2″ from the bottom.
- Stamp sentiment using Basic Gray ink on the mint/white label piece. Stamp leaves using Mint Macaron ink on scrap of white from kit. (You could use Whisper White Cardstock, but I find that that white is a slightly warmer tone than the white found in the consumables of the Paper Pumpkin kits.) Then cut them out leaving a slight white edge all the way around.
- Add Dimensionals behind sentiment piece, attach two sets of leaves so they come out the lower left corner, and add to the card as shown.
- Wrap the ribbon from the inside to the front and secure in a knot. Trim the ends.
- Then add the leftover 2-3/4″ x 2-1/2″ white piece to the inside.
I hope you enjoyed what I shared today!

ANNUAL CATALOG NEWS
Due to recent supplier issues (and other factors), Stampin’ Up! will no longer be carrying the current die-cutting machine and trimmer: The Big Shot and Stampin’ Trimmer are retiring. These changes are giving Stampin’ Up! the opportunity to research and explore replacement options. But there will be a gap when we do not have a trimmer or die-cutting machine available. You will not see these items in the upcoming 2019-20 Annual Catalog that debuts June 4, 2019. Click here for more information.
