Today I am excited to share how to make a Peek-a-Boo Gate Fold Card that incorporates a bow to help hold it shut. Three of my five cards that I’m sharing today use the retiring Fruit Basket Stamp Set and Tutti Frutti Designer Series Paper. (Retiring products are starting to sell out, so be sure to order any items that are retiring that you need sooner than later.)
I shared how to make two of them this past Wednesday during my Facebook Live Paper Crafting Class.
They are super quick cards to make, but there are a few tips that will help you out if you wish to make them on your own.
I love to share live with my Facebook friends, so I recorded this Facebook Live how-to video on Wednesday and then uploaded it to my YouTube channel (since I know not everyone is ON Facebook). Be sure to watch the video, check out the measurements for the card pieces below, and then let me know if you have any questions. If you ARE on Facebook, I invite you to “like” then “follow” my page so you can get updates when I share and when I go live every Wednesday afternoon at 2 PM Central Time.
Here are the measurements you’ll need if you plan to recreate this fun Peek-a-Boo Gate Fold card. And below that are the products I used on the two cards I demonstrated.
Measurements:
- Base cardstock:
- 5-1/2” x 7-3/4” scored in at 1-3/4” at one end and 1-3/4”
- Scrap for punching out 2-1/4” circle
- Inside layer cardstock:
- 5-1/4” x 4”
- Designer paper:
- 2 strips that are 1-1/2” x 5-1/4”
- Embellishment paper or cardstock for circle:
- Scrap for punching out 2” circle
- Ribbon that is at least 3/8” wide:
- About 8-9”
Products: See below for a full list of supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Here are a few more close-up photos of the three other cards I shared in my video.
The inside design that peeks through the gap on the cards above and below can’t be stamped the same way. The card has to be open to stamp them. So remember to make a template like this one and follow my tips in the video.
For those of you who have been sending your well wishes for my son, Nicholas who broke his knee cap on April 22nd and had surgery on May 1st…He is improving every day. He was able to walk with crutches on May 4th, he stopped his pain meds on May 5th,..
…and he had the energy to go back to school this past Wednesday.
Thank you for all the messages, emails, and cards. He is loving them all.
I hope you enjoyed what I had to share today. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Rachel, it’s so much fun watching your videos and I always learn something new! I understood everything till you got to the templates. I understand that the white cs template was 2 1/4″ punched circle which was to be used with your card open and your punched circle already adhered. Where did the 3/4″ opening on the template come from, and what’s the purpose of your red cs template that was 3/4″ wide and don’t know how long? On the Sweet Soiree card did the addiontal stamping make a difference after you stamped your peek-a-boo? I feel silly asking, but, really wanted to make some of these cards. Thank you so much for sharing with us! It was fun, even being a day late. Hope your son is feeling better everyday!
Thanks Gloroa! And Nick is getting better everyday…thanks for asking!
The 3/4″ opening on the template is the same measurement of the opening on the card (the peek-a-boo part). With that cut out in the template, you can stamp images that are outside of the circular area that will appear in the peek-a-boo part when the card is closed. I used the 3/4″ by 5-1/2″ red strip that got cut off when I first cut the base of the red card as a guide for cutting the 3/4″ section in the template.
Not sure what you mean by your last question. Sorry.
Love these cards with the add of the ribbon closure Rachel… Thank you for your creativity…
We made these at our last monthly training and I couldn’t resist making a few more… so thank you for inspiring Julie K… and there will be a few of these shared on my blog over the next few weeks! Starting tomorrow…
Oh fun! Glad you enjoyed this fold idea enough to recreate it…AND share it!
