Welcome to another Mediterranean (Grand Vacation) Achievers Blog Hop! The theme for this month is "All You Need Is Love." So follow along and check out all the other blogs in the hop (see the list below) so you can see a great collection of hand-stamped cards and paper crafting projects that reflect admiration and adoration. Oh, the creativity you will see as you hop from blog to blog! Have fun.
I have a crush on the new Rose Garden thinlits! I can't get enough of them. And I knew the instant I saw them in the 2016 Occasions catalog, that they would be one of the first things I would purchase.
This card below is my favorite that I've made with these thinlits so far!
The process is tedious. Patience for picking up and gluing tiny pieces is a must. (I love that sort of thing.)
First I die-cut all my rose/leaf pieces:
- 2 Basic Black roses (the smaller of the two rose dies)
- 2 Basic Black leaves
- 1 Real Red rose
- 1 Watermelon Wonder rose
- 1 Pear Pizzazz leaf
- 1 Mossy Meadow leaf
Hint: Die-cut them on a dryer sheet. I didn't do that (as you can see in these photos), but discovered later that the dryer sheets would be helpful when I teach class with this technique later.
Then I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to attach my black outlines. The weight of one or two clear blocks was helpful for holding the outlines down to adhere them to the card base.

Next I filled in the outlines with the colored cardstock "puzzle pieces" (adhering them with the Fine Tip Glue Pen). My tweezers came in handy a couple times with those very tiny pieces.
The leaf end that I trimmed off on the top of the card became the piece that I placed in the upper right corner.
And the second rose outline became two flowers when I used the half I trimmed off from the far right flower and glued it at the bottom of the card.
The colored puzzle pieces sticking off the edges in this photo below got trimmed off got added to the other outline flower half.
The two shades of red and the two shades of green give the illusion of shading/highlighting to the flowers and leaves. And there was no rhyme or reason to how I added the color. I just tried to alternate so that I had a good amount of both colors in each section.
The final step was layering the cardstock together to form a card and adding the sentiment. For the sentiment, I stamped the frame image and then the words inside that onto a scrap of Pear Pizzazz. After die-cutting this, I put SNAIL adhesive on the backside, added loops of gold thread, secured the thread in place with Dimensionals, and attached this to the front of the card.
Measurements:
- Pear Pizzazz cardstock: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" (folded in half) and two 1-1/2" x 3" scraps
- Mossy Meadow cardstock: 1-1/2" x 3" scrap
- Real Red cardstock: 3" x 3"
- Watermelon Wonder cardstock: 3" x 3"
- Basic Black cardstock: 4" x 5-1/4" for the middle layer, two 3" x 3" scraps and two 1-1/2" x 3" scraps
- Crumb Cake cardstock: 3-7/8" x 5-1/8"
- Gold Metallic thread: about 20"
