The November 2024 Filled With Joy Paper Pumpkin Kit. - Stampin’ Up!® - Stamp Your Art Out! www.stampyourartout.com

I’ve already shared some other alternate projects using the contents of this kit on November 20th: alternate cards and a few ideas of what to do with the stockings. Today I am sharing: a scrapbook page layout, a simple ornament card, and a poinsettia embellished stocking.

Below are close-up photos of these projects, any important measurements you might need, and tips for recreating what I shared. At the bottom of the post is a list of extra products that I’ve used linked to my online store.

Scrapbook Page Layout

This fun layout features Santa’s boots as he is heading down the chimney! It’s a fairly easy layout to put together.

Santa’s boots were probably the most challenging for me since I’m not skilled with fabric arts. I tried three different ways…First I tried coloring the fabric with Sharpie® Marker. The ink rubbed off even a day later. Then I tried coloring our Stampin’ Write Markers, but I was worried about how much ink the fabric was soaking up and how my marker tip was getting roughed up. And though the results weren’t as bad as the Sharpie, the dried ink was still coming off a tiny bit when I rubbed the fabric against paper. So I finally dyed the fabric with Rit® Fabric Dye. Don’t ask me the details, though because again…I’m not an expert and probably could’ve gotten better results. My boots turned out sort of a reddish black. You can see the comparison below of a stocking colored with the Basic Black Dark Blends and a stocking colored with Black Rit Dye.

After the “boots” dried, I folded the cuffs as shown and then ironed them as flat as I could.

For the chimney, I embossed the Smoky Slate rectangles with the Painted Texture embossing folder (which is now on the Last Chance List), and used a Blending Brush to rub on Smoky Slate ink to deepen the look of the bricks…make them more weathered and dirty.

Then I added one towards the top right of my White Willow chimney base and built my brick pattern from there trimming off any excess Smoky Slate Cardstock that would go off the edges.

I cut my chimney in half and then arranged all my pieces (including my base photo mats) onto the 12×12 base pages. Then I stamped my snowflakes randomly with VersaMark ink, took all the layers off my pages, added white embossing powder to the snowflakes, and heat embossed.

After all my snowflakes were embossed, I prepared all my other stamped pieces and added the ribbon borders along the bottom of the front snow layers with a bit of Tear & Tape Adhesive (tucking the excess around the back).

Then I added my back layers of snow with Dimensionals, my front layers of snow with Dimensionals, my chimney halves with a couple layers of Dimensionals just on the back middle and with one layer of Dimensionals just under the back bottom, and then my boots with Tear & Tape. The boots will raise the top half of the chimney. This is why you don’t need Dimensionals in that area.

The last steps are just adding the bow, the Iridescent Faceted Gems within the snowflake centers, and adding photos and journalling!

Oh! And if coloring the stockings isn’t your thing either, you could always skip that step and pretend that Santa lost his boots before heading inside.

Simple Ornament Card

This card design was inspired by a card I got from Stampin’ Up! I loved it so much and knew it would work with the elements of this kit. I stamped Basic Beige ink for my sentiments and borders on my Basic Beige card base (which is 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″). Then I attached the ornament top to the ornament with Glue Dots and added it to the card with Dimensionals. I die-cut a couple Shaded Spruce leaf images from the Merry Tags & More Dies and glued them down behind the left side of the ornaments. Then I added a few Blooming Pearls.

Poinsettia Embellished Stocking

This last idea was inspired by a project shared by Kimberly Wynne Jones in the Paper Pumpkin Fan Club. I didn’t have any actual poinsettia dies, so I used the dies from the Happy Hibiscus Hybrid Embossing Folder set (and embossing folder and die set) to die-cut different size leaves from the Festive Glimmer papers. Then I used Glue Dots and Dimensionals to build the poinsettia. I added a Gold Blooming Pearl in the middle (although I think I should’ve added a few more to make it look more like a poinsettia), and I attached it to my stocking with more Glue Dots. A hot glue gun might have been a more permanent adhesive for this project. But I was in a hurry when I was making it.

If you did not get this kit, I hope you can apply these ideas to products you already own. OR…become an active subscriber and get in on the refill kit. (The refill typically shows up in the online store soon after the 20th.) It doesn’t contain the ink and stamp images. But you will at least gain the main pieces and can hopefully replace most of the stamp images I used with some of your own.
