I love challenging myself to come up with ways to double or triple the contents of Stampin’ Up! kits. Today I’m sharing how I re-designed the Saying Thanks kit from the Kits Collection which debuted about a month ago. When I started creating, I first just doubled the cards. But because I cut into the envelopes, I then had extra envelope flaps and made 3 more cards. After tripling the cards, I challenged myself to make one more. So I turned 3 cards into 10. And with this kit doing that with the 2 other sets, you can turn 9 cards into 30…more than tripling the cards from the kit!
I just showed live on YouTube and on Facebook about an hour ago step-by-step directions for creating these cards by adding a few sheets of Basic Black cardstock, a pack of envelopes (to make up for the ones that we are using for more card designs and layers), Tuxedo Black ink, sentiments from the Happy Labels Stamp Set, and a little more coordinating product. And now I’m sharing that video here in my blog post. Measurements (for one set of 10 cards from 3)…
- Basic Black Cardstock
- (6) 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” scored parallel to the short side at 4-1/4”
- (4) 4-1/4” x 11” scored parallel to the short side at 5-1/2”
- “Rainbow” kit card base
- Top of rainbow – 1-1/2” x 5-1/2”
- Bottom of rainbow – 2-3/4” x 5-1/2”
- White – (2) 2-3/4” x 4-1/4”
- “Falling dots” kit card base (don’t fold)
- White – 3” x 5-1/2”
- Rest of the card cut in half – (2) 2-3/4” x 5-1/2”
- “Watercolor” kit card base
- White – 2-1/2” x 5-1/2”, 1” x 5-1/2” and ¾” x 5-1/2”
- Watercolor – 2-1/2” x 5-1/2” and 1-3/4” x 5-1/2”
- Heart kit layer – 1-5/8” wide and 2-3/8” wide
- Envelopes (3) – cut according to directions in video to get 3 card front layers and 6 inside layers that are 2-7/8” x 3-1/2”
- Kit twine – (4) 6”
- Other ribbon
- (2) 14”
- (3) 17”

During the Silver Elite Retreat this past weekend, we each put together a sampling of these cards. (Sorry for the lighting. Photographing at the cabin was challenging me a bit.) You can see that even if you want to make the cards as intended, you can still add a little variation here or there.
