I got my October 2018 Paper Pumpkin kit yesterday. Did you get yours? This is what you can make when following the instructions in the kit…4 of each of these two types of cards.
I love to change things up, though. So I took the contents, a couple extra pieces of cardstock and circle punches, and…
look what I made! Hahaha! He’s a little monster made from one of the envelopes.
And when the envelope is open, you can add a treat or gift. He’s my “Get Well” Monster Gift Pouch.

I love that this kit came with a “get well” sentiment. Because just since Monday of this week, I’ve had four people in my extended family undergo some sort of surgery. Two of those are little ones – my cousin’s daughter who had ear bones on one side replaced and my niece’s kiddo who had his adenoids removed. I’m thinking they would each love getting this gift of a fun worried little monster like this with some sort of goody in the pouch. So I may need to make a couple more and get them in the mail with money or gift cards or something.
I’ll share more details about this project on Saturday in my how-to video, but the extra supplies I used with the contents of my October Paper Pumpkin kit are these.
Some of you have asked how Nicholas is doing. My own kiddo was another one of those 4 family members. Nick’s surgery was just a couple days ago. And I’m thrilled to say he’s doing great. He has a bit of pain from the incision (his pins were removed from the surgery back on May 1st after he broke his left knee cap), but he is a strong kid and is optimistic about recovering quickly. Plus he’s a goof and has had a great sense of humor through all this!
He’s NOT in pain in this photo. He’s making silly faces for me. I couldn’t get him to give me a normal smile in the recovery room. (And several staff members in the hospital told me how much they enjoyed having this silly kid there.)
But he did give me a normal smile after we got him in the van to go home. (My mom is the one being silly now. hahaha!)
Nick doesn’t want this surgery to stop him from getting back on his feet. He plans to be marching and playing with the school band in parades coming up October 26th and 27th.
Thank you all for your well wishes, prayers and kind messages. I’m positive they helped.
