I'm enjoying the cabin this weekend with my boys and family. All of us are crossing our fingers that we'll be able to get in the lake. The forecast is for decent temps. But this lake is one of the deepest (which is why it's one of the clearest!) lakes in Minnesota, so it sometimes takes until August to warm up enough so we aren't screaming as we jump in. In fact any adult who jumps in during Memorial Day weekend (or earlier!) is "put on a pedestal" and can brag about it for years. I think the last bit of ice left the lake in right at the end of March
One thing that I am making time for while up here relaxing is looking in detail at my 2017-18 Annual Catalog and making my prioritized wish list. June 1st (at noon Mountain Time) is the first day to order, and I want to be ready. If you didn't get your hands on the catalog yet, you can view it online HERE when it goes live on June 1st.
Here is a peek at a fun new stamp set, some new ribbon, a new color, and a new punch.
- This Little Piggy Stamp Set (Wood-Mount or Clear-Mount)
- Daffodil Delight Double-Stitched Ribbon
- Powder Pink Ink Pad
- Daisy Punch
I made a bunch of these note cards and sent them out to some prize winners in my Stampers With ART group after a Facebook team event last week. Of course I kept one for myself, too!
I stamped the pig/word image in Basic Gray ink on some scrap paper and onto the card layer. I trimmed around the pig on the scrap paper to create a "mask."
Then I adhered the mask over the image on my card layer (lining up the image outlines) with some Dotto Adhesive. (We don't carry this product, but I haven't found anything in our catalog that works just as well when it comes to masking.) I then sponged on some Pool Party ink in a light circular motion. When I peeled the mask away, I had a blue background behind the pig – a little summer sky!
Then I used an Aqua Painter and watercolored the body of the pig in Powder Pink ink and the leaf and ground with Garden Green ink.
Then I punched a daisy from a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and trimmed it into 3 parts. (The red lines on the photo below show where I cut the daisy.)
Then I layered the 3 pieces together with a 1/2" circle of Daffodil Delight cardstock between and a section from the Fox Builder punch as the Garden Green base of the flower.
Ta-da!
Wishing you and yours a pleasant weekend!
