Are you ready to see lots of ideas with the May 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit?!
#APaperPumpkinThing
Today is the day where several of us Stampin' Up! demonstrators are bringing to you our special Paper Pumpkin blog hop. See what I have to share, then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see even more creative alternate ideas that we came up with using the contents of this month's "Sprinkled with Love" Paper Pumpkin kit. To follow the hop, simply scroll down to click the "next" button or to click on the names of other participants in the hop.
This month's kit is adorable! I don't eat donuts (can't do gluten), but I still LOVED the kit! Click here to see the May kit video put out by Stampin' Up! where you can view how to make these intended cards from this kit.
I'm still working on several more ideas that I'll be sharing on my blog at a later date, but for today I want to share this sunshine card. The blue card in the kit has gold lines bordering the outer edge. Some are saying it's a pastry and those gold lines are the fork marks. Some are saying it's a paper plate. But it reminded me of the rays of the sun. So this is what I made.
Here are the extra supplies that I used to make it (besides the contents of the May 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit):
- Paper Trimmer
- 1-3/4" Circle Punch
- Gold Glimmer Paper
- Large Gold Metallic Foil Doily
- Vellum Cardstock
- Paper Snips
- VersaMark Ink Pad
- Gold Embossing Powder
- Heat Tool
- Embossing Buddy
- & some washi tape or masking tape
The tape is great for covering parts of the stamp that you don't want to get ink on. Once the tape is on, ink up the stamp, take off the tape, and stamp.
I embossed the words on the outside and the inside of the card. First I wiped the Embossing Buddy across my cardstock. Then I stamped my words with VersaMark ink. I sprinkled on the Gold Embossing Powder, tapped off the excess, and heated it with the Heat Tool.
I trimmed my Vellum cardstock piece to 4-1/2" x 1/2" and then scored in from each end at 1" and 1-3/16." After stamping and embossing the words, I folded on the score lines as shown in this photo below.
I trimmed the ends of this Vellum piece with my Paper Snips aiming from one corner to the center…
and then coming from the other corner to that same center mark.
Then after adding the Metallic Doily with Glue Dots and the Gold Glimmer circle with Dimensionals, I attached the Vellum banner to the assembled card with Glue Dots.
The inside of the card has a bit of pizzazz, too.
And all I did was add a bit of that "yummy" gold twine that came in the kit.
I hope you enjoyed this card!

I think you nailed the “sun’s rays!” Love it and totally enjoyed hopping with you!
You created a very elegant card – it makes me think of a wedding.
So shiny! I saw sun rays too but I couldn’t quite get the look I wanted so I abandoned it…yours is PERFECT 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Love the addition of the gold accents! Thanks for the banner instructions, too!
How beautiful! Love the gold doily and the embossed vellum banner!
Love the softness of the gold on the vellum–very pretty!
