Here is what July's Paper Pumpkin kit (Party Pennants) contained: directions and supplies for making birthday/celebration banners.

And here are some other ideas I came up with. Keep in mind I get TWO Paper Pumpkins each month because I love it so much. So if you have just one, you won't be able to make ALL these projects.

This is a quick and easy project. Let's say you are having a party coming up.
You can use the punch-out flags and glue dot them to skewers. Some
wooden skewers come in the kit, but you'll need a few more if you are
making more than just a few cupcakes.

A great stamp set for these flags is A Dozen Thoughts.

IMG_6020

Then just adhere a stretched out glue dot to the flag and attach the flag to the skewer. Easy-peasy.

IMG_6022

IMG_6024

The Summer Starfruit In Color Dahlia embellishment is a great addition and is pretty much all you'll need to make these cupcake flags rock.

IMG_6025

Of course, since many of my stampers are scrapbookers, it just makes sense that I show a 12×12 spread for every Paper Pumpkin kit. And this Party Pennants July kit is the perfect one for scrapbookers. Look at how easy it was to come up with an attractive layout. I just added some matching card stock, some Chevron ribbon, and some Candy Dot Brad Bases (stunning by themselves wouldn't you agree?).

IMG_6036

IMG_6033

The Chevron Ribbon doesn't come in Tangerine Tango which is the orange color in the kit contents. But the Pumpkin Pie ribbon matched quite well, so I went with it.

IMG_6018

I stamped on the back of the circle cut-outs with the ink and stamps that come in the kit. Then I punched out a few more circles in coordinating colors.

After attaching them where I wanted, I trimmed off the excess and used those partial circle in other areas on the layout.

IMG_6027

See how pretty the Candy Dot Brad Bases look by themselves? – just flat silver circles!

IMG_6028

A bone folder was a great tool for curling up the ends on the banner titles.

IMG_6032

My third project, this pretty card was super simple and quick to make.

IMG_6003

I stamped the hexagon background stamp that comes in the kit randomly on a 4 x 5-1/4" sheet of Pool Party card stock.

IMG_5998

Then I attached the letter circles for "Hooray" with SNAIL adhesive and the "Hip Hip" flag with Dimensionals which you also get in this kit.

IMG_5999

I added some Candy Dots Brad Bases, a fun arrow clip and added it to an Island Indigo card base measuring 4-1/4" x 11" (folded in half).

IMG_6007

IMG_6006

IMG_6005

The inside of the card matches the front a little and is the same size piece of Pool Party as the front.

IMG_6001

Here's one other card I made with this kit. I used another sheet of 4-1/4" x 11" Island Indigo card stock, but folded each end toward the middle like a cupboard. You'll want to score at 2-3/4" from each end to make these folds more exact.

IMG_6037

The white flag is from the kit (just flipped over so it's completely white). I made the Summer Starfruit flag with some scrap card stock stamped with the Summer Starfruit ink and stripes stamp that comes in your kit. Not too many steps, yet gives the card more visual texture. After attaching the "It's Your Day" banner, trim off the ends and add them to the inside of the card.

IMG_6040

The "Celebrate" banner is popped up in the middle with Dimensionals.

IMG_6039

And I HAD to add rhinestones!

Here are a couple tips for creating the cake topper that the kit contents were intended for.

IMG_6016

Tie your twine up high on the ends of the skewers so that the distance between the skewers won't be too wide for your cake. Stamp your flag fronts as shown.

IMG_6008

Spread them out evenly on your work surface. Attach the letter circles with Dimensionals.

IMG_6010

Find the middle of your twine and attach the middle flag(s) with the clothepin(s).

IMG_6011

If you attach your clothespins with the twine loose (as shown in the above photo), your flags will all fall together towards the middle when you stand it all up. See what happens? It looks pretty bad.

IMG_6013

So instead, be sure that your twine is pinched tightly in each clothespin.

IMG_6014

Much better results!

IMG_6015

My banner is ready to add to a cake! (Now I'm looking for a cake. Sigh….)
