I love this look! My friend Cheryl gave me a beautiful card about a year and half ago that featured this faux quilted look, and I've been in love ever since. I think it looks especially cozy on this Christmas card stamped with the Flurry of Wishes stamp set from p. 29 in the Annual Catalog).
The card made by Cheryl (that I shared on my June 22, 2015 post) and the card I made shortly after (that I shared on my July 18, 2015 post) both used the Diagonal Scoring Plate (which we no longer carry for our Simply Scored Tool) to get that faux quilted look. But you can get that same look using the scoring blade on your Stampin' Trimmer! Just score your cardstock every 3/4" in both directions. Hint: Start in the middle for your first vertical score line. Then move out 3/4" from that starting point in each direction. After your score lines are in place, just follow the directions HERE on my July 18th blog post to learn how to achieve this faux quilt look.
If you are on Facebook, you can CLICK HERE to watch me create this card from start to finish. (Watching it from Facebook allows you to see the engagement/the comments from viewers AND allows you to interact as well.) I've also included this recorded broadcast here…
By the way, the Flurry of Wishes stamp set paired with the Snow Flurry Punch will be on sale on November 28th! Click here for more details on our Online Holiday Extravaganza Sale.
Here are couple other cards that I shared during my Facebook broadcast. They both feature the stamp set Twinkle Trees from the Holiday Catalog and the Stitched Shapes Framelits, a new product that I shared with you on Tuesday.
For these cards I scored diagonally by positioning the opposing corners of the cardstock in the trimmer first to create my starting score line. Then I moved out one inch to score, another inch to score again and so on (in both directions). I rotated my cardstock 90 degrees and did the same thing in the opposite direction. A square piece of cardstock (like this 4" x 4" Soft Sky layer) when scored this way will produce perfect squares within the score lines.
A rectangular piece of cardstock (like this 4" x 5-1/4" Rich Razzleberry layer) when scored this way will produce rhombus shapes (diamonds) within the score lines.
So take note, I am now sharing these free "classes" on Facebook every Monday at 2:30 PM Central Time. I broadcast live at that time, but you can always stop back to visit later and catch the recorded version. If you catch me live, you can chat with me while I am recording. And you can interact with others that are also there during the broadcast.
Remember to like and follow my page so you will get notices when I post. (Next week is Thanksgiving week, so I will not be broadcasting on the 21st. But I'll be back on the 28th!)
Thanks for visiting today and seeing what I had to share.
