On Monday,Tuesday (in video and photos), and Wednesday I shared with you several ideas/projects that I made using the June 2014 My Paper Pumpkin Kit: Pinwheel Party. Today I want to share more detailed step-by-step photos for making your pinwheels spin.
First you need to make sure your pinwheel stays together without the assistance from the brad. So glue dot all the 4 corners to the middle (be sure to line up the hole for the brad to fit in).
You'll need to add more glue dots as you layer each corner into the center.
After all the corners are in and the holes line up, then insert the brad.
Punch a whole in the end of a straw using the 1/8" Circle Punch.
Flip the pinwheel over so you are looking at the back of it. Add a nut or a washer.
Add the straw. Then use your pliers to bend the prongs of the brad out a bit. Leave some space so there isn't a lot of friction when the pinwheel spins. And that's it!
It's not the most fabulous way to form a spinning pinwheel. But if you have little kiddos it's better to have pinwheels that spin than ones that don't. They are gonna try to spin them anyway, so you might as well make them spin!
